"Riko, help me carry him to Tyenta." She walked over to him and told Riko, "grab his scruff and watch his wings." She crawled under him and lifted him off the ground. "You need help."

Jhaiz snarled his displeasure but let them take him--he wan't stupid. He let the two wolves carry him to whoever this Tayenta was. He grimaced at the pain.

When they reached camp, Myra shouted "Tayenta!"

Tayenta glanced up at the call. She spotted the hurt wolf and bounded over, her tail flicking. "What happened?" she asked quietly. She peered at the wolf, noticing its awkwardly held wing. "Bring him to my den." She instructed, rushing back to her den and starting to pull out herbs.

Jhaiz blinked at the wolf, then let himself be carried to the den. He sighed in anger. His wing burned with agony, and he was surprised he was still conscious.

Myra dropped him off her back gently and blinked in motherly concern. Then she found Kara and took her on a flight. She stood Kara on a rock and said, "Today you are learning to fly. Long strokes and try jumping like this." She jumped and flapped strongly and gracefully, hovering above the rock. She picked up Kara and threw her into the air.

Her wings came out and she was forced to hover. "I'm doing it!!"

Tayenta began to bandage the wolf's wing, ignoring its pained growls. She lashed the stalks along his wings, dabbing a poultice of oak and comfrey along the feathers. She knew it was a broken wing, and the wolf would not be able to fly for a while yet.

Jhaiz let the wolf heal, knowing it was for the best. He let out occasional whines and snarls, trying to keep calm.

Myra flapped a gust of wind and Kara rode the currents. "I can glide and fly too!!" Kara shouted.

Myra flew under her Kara landed on her back. Myra shot up into the air as high as the clouds. "Are you having fun Kara?"

Silence....."Kara?" Myra turned her head and saw her pup wasn't there. "Kara!" She dove down and see her pup plummetting to the ground.

Moments before Myra grabbed her screaming pup, her wings got caught in the branches and she watched her daughter thump on the ground. Kara was bleeding from her mouth and from scratches where she was hit by the branches. Myra began crying and wrenched her wings out of the tree. "Kara, NO!"

Kara blinked and looked up at her mother. She licked her paw and then she stared into the distance. Her sight grew slowly white and faded to black. Her last words were "I can fly. Just like you, Mommy. I love you."

Riko's ears swiveled around, someone had cried out. She growled and took to the sky.

Myra sobbed and laid her head on her child. She was cold and heavy and still. "I'm sorry Kara." She whispered
