Rise of the Cynth [1x1]

Ren grinned and nodded, keeping his mouth shut for once. Hunter speaking such a strange way, It made Ren fascinated by the strangeness. But sleep won over curiosity, Ren He scooted to a dry wall and settled himself down. He yawned widely as he rested his head against the wall. He smiled softly to himself as he closed his eyes slowly. What a nice day, for one, not dieing is always a plus and meeting someone new was pretty fun. Even though they don't seem to be easy to handle, they're fun to be around. Ren sighed and slowed his breathing to a steady pace. After a moment he fell to a light slumber. It must have been nice for him to fall asleep is easily. Hopefully Mayia and Hunter could to the same.

Luna peered at Rioku, she grinned and suddenly stood up. Her thirst for blood spill had risen quite a bit by now, the temptation was strong enough that it seemed it was hanging in the air around Luna. "Nice to meet you Rioku." She murmured, Luna took a small step towards them both. She gripped her katana tightly, Luna had a feeling she might have to use it. In fact she rather keep her powers unknown to Skye. Luna shifted her feet farther apart as she bent her knees the tiniest bit. She narrowed her eyes, and snickered. "Well I'm very bored and I want to do something very fun."

Mayia couldn't help but watch as Ren scooted away to a wall, still huddled against Hunter and Ren's coat. She was feeling really bad for having taken the coat in the first place... She whispered into Hunter's ear quietly before she stood up, stepping over Hunter and taking the coat off from her. It was wet... She was still a little wet too, but not so much at the tempurature would kill her or anything. She knelt down beside Ren and put his coat back on his shoulders before the warmth that she left in the thing wore off. She then got up and crept back to Hunter. She would have just laid back down, but Mayia was clumsy... She slipped after stepping over Hunter again and nearly ended up right back in the water. Her shoes just splashed against the surface, thankfully. "That was close..." She sighed, pulling her feet from the water. With a sigh, she took off her shoes and placed them a foot from the murky water to dry. She then took her place with Hunter again, her breath a little shaky, but better than before. The second she laid her head on Hunter's back, his big, fluffy tail covering her, she relaxed, just resting, not sleeping. This was one of the more dangerous times of the night. Sleeping now would be careless. The sewers were relatively safe, but no one said that Cynth couldn't get in at all... It was possible.

Skye simply just watched Luna, Rioku having already dozed off for the time being. With Skye around, Rioku was safe. They were two parts of one puppet. Nothing more than that. "Fun, you say? Does your fun include blood, by any chance?" Skye asked, just looking at Luna. He knew that look... The deadly look in ones eyes when they wanted something so badly, and the only things that Skye could think of that would make someone look like that was blood, money or fame. Money was useless here, and there was no use in trying to become famous in these parts, so all that was left was blood. The thick, scarlet water that drove him mad with... happiness... He mentally shuddered at the thought, not wanting to bear the thought for much longer at all.

Luna's grin widened, the grin looked strange and twisted. Her eyes flashed with greed, yearning for blood spilled on her hands. She swiftly unsheathed her katana, a ray of moonlight found its way to the black blade. The blade had a strange glowing effect from the moon, Luna stared at it for a moment. She really loved this sword, it was beautiful and swift, never failing to get the job down. "What else?" She asked Skye, blinking at him. Luna took a quick glance at Rioku, so, the wolf underestimates me. That is slightly insulting, but nothing to get flustered about. She gripped the handle of the katana and raised it slightly.

Ren was awakened by the rustling sound, but he kept his breathing slow and eyes shut. He tensed slightly, ready to shoot his gun, but when she gave him back his jacket. Ren couldn't help but grin, how nice of Mayia. Ren cracked an eye open as he watched Mayia go back to her wolf, Hunter. He squeezed his eyes shut again. He did need his beauty sleep, and energy was important to Ren. Maybe because he always burns it all out when he goes out. It's very lucky Ren is still living to this today, considering his foolish lifestyle.

Skye let out a breath, disappointed in the day he was having. He hoped for just one, simple day of resting, but he wasn't going to get that with this girl around... Wait, she never gave her name, now did she?... Oh well. Skye had no reason to know it. Holding out his own hand, palm down, he summoned his blade to him, the silvery sword glistening quietly as the red pommel on the end emanated a powerful pressense and aura. It was a spectacular sensation indeed. "I see. And I was looking forward to this silent day as well. I only have but one request. That we change location. Fighting amongst the dead is unbecoming." Skye said, holding his blade very casually. Little did most new comers know, this was Skye's offensive stance, watching his opponent as closely as possible so he could read their movements as best he could.

Mayia wasn't too tired that she needed to sleep. She really just needed to be able to lay down in a peaceful setting. The sewer was her substitute for a river, and Hunter was her guardian. She felt safe down here, even if there was some guy behind her. He was asleep, so why worry about it? In order to calm her nerves more effectively, Mayia just started to hum, running her hands through Hunter's soft fur as she did. Hunter looked like he had fallen asleep though, his head on his paws, his ears folded back and the look on his face expression bliss. She couldn't help but giggle a little at the sight, smiling sweetly. "Sweet dreams." She whispered, kissing Hunter's muzzle as he slept. Looks like Mayia was keeping first watch. It was a much better system, to sleep in shifts.

Luna was disappointed that they couldn't just do it here. But she didn't mind too much. Luna grinned and lowered her katana, and she pulled her feet back together. "You lead the way then." Luna said, she turned away from Skye, already started to walk towards the exit of the cemetery. She threw a glance behind her shoulder at Rioku, would she come? Luna doubted it but, there wasn't any reason to not have your guard up against a dog. Luna hummed random and weird tunes to herself as she hopped from one tombstone to the next. She slowed her pace a little for Skye, just in case he was a slow poke.


Ren rolled onto his side, trying to block out any small and tiny noises. He sighed softly in his sleep, finding comfort again. The humming of Mayia effected Ren's dream in random ways. Hunter was also in it, for some reason. Ren started to snore, it was very loud but it still made a soft echo every time he took a deep breath. Ren fell into a deep slumber, a hard one to wake up from. Where the dreams seem much more real.

Skye let out a breath and looked to Rioku, just that glance waking him up. "Do as you wish, Rioku. This will not take very long." Skye said gently to Rioku before he vanished from where he stood, his body dematerializing into nothing but dust. That dust flew through the cemetery so delicately that it didn't disturb the other souls, and when it stopped at the end of the rows of tombstones, he materialized again, looking out to the tombstones and watching Luna as she dared travelled by hopping on the stones themselves. How disgraceful... Not to mention disrespectful. No matter. Skye would just need the clear area just at the end of these rows, walking to one end of the area as he waited for Luna to take her place.

Mayia flinched slightly at the loud sound of snoring, her eyes widening with worry. She was right to worry... From both sides of the sewer tunnel came Grypths and one Nyldrem. She could even head some pounding against the cieling of the sewer line. Mayia forced herself to get up. She was still a little drained, but it was up to her to protect Hunter and Ren since they were sleeping... Mayia didn't have enough energy to fire off light in both directions without hurting Ren or Hunter by accident, so she pulled Hunter closer to Ren and put up a barrier, standing before them on weak legs. Soon, she was kneeling as she held up her barrier, but at this point, they were surrounded, and the Barrier had to be small in order to hold its structure.

Luna blinked, and picked up her pace, her feet flashed as ran to Skye. Hm, that power could be trouble for her. Luna grinned, almost like she was baring her teeth at him, as she closed the distance. Luna slowed to a stop in front of him, she kept a good distance between the two of them. Luna narrowed her eyes, it seemed the wolf won't be interfering. Yes insulting, but that could be an disadvantage for her if the dog decides to step in. Luna gripped her katana, she, once again shifted her feet apart and bent her knees. She closed her eyes for a moment, breathing deeply and exhaling through her mouth. Let try to react on instincts, but that might not work..... Might as well give it a shot. She opened her eyes again and grinned, her eyes glinted in the moonlight.


Ren jerked awake, his eyes wide. Ren shivered and rubbed his eyes sleepily, looking much like a child. He glanced at Hunter, a little surprised to be so close. His gaze traveled to Mayia, even more confused, he chuckled. "Hey, what are you doing?" He asked in a quiet voice, just a above an whisper. He poked Hunter lightly and chuckled. Only then did he realize the danger around, he took a quick breath of surprise. "Oh." He whispered, Ren chuckled. How come those things always follow him? Ren gripped his auto shot gun, even though he was weak, he had a perfect aim. He flicked off the safety, Ren had a tiny little glint in his eyes. The one he only gets when he's fighting for his life. As if this itself was a game.

Zero hissed as he jumped down into the sewers, he glanced around, absorbing his surroundings. "What a crowd." He snarl to himself in a low voice. His claws scraped across the ground, his own kind made a small pathway for him but nothing more. Their fear only went so far. but when he spotted an Nyldrem he instantly stopped and showed his respect by moving to the side, blending in with his kin. Zero lowered his head as the Nyldrem pass him by, slowly, but surely. It roared, Zero and the rest of them cowered and made a bigger path. They followed him, sometimes skittering besides the Nyldrem. Zero watched through narrowed, hateful eyes.

Skye simply watched as Luna took her place, stance that was worthy of being called impressive. Skye simply just stood there, treating his occassion with little importance as he watched. "You may make your move, miss." Skye said, the blade of his sword just hovering above the ground. Skye's shoulders were very relaxed and his grip was lucid yet firm. He looked more like he was backing down since he didn't look to be assuming any type of stance. He just stood there. Rioku had decided that it may have been interesting to watch this battle, so he padded past the tombstones at his own, simple pace, stopping just beside one so that he could watch. Rioku didn't worry for Skye, and he did as he was told. Rioku was only a few hundred years old, so he respected his creator, partner and elder.

Mayia was using too much energy, and as Ren spoke to her, she started losing her grip on both her consciousness and the barrier. She was able to keep back the Grypths that did come near them, but she was getting tired to the point where her arms shaked as the pressure that was put against the barrier. She wouldn't be able to last much longer without draining some energy from a nearby source. Hunter woke up when he had been poked and shot a glare in Ren's direction before getting up. He would have just padded away, but he saw the dangers around them and had to help Mayia before she hurt herself. "Ren. You take care of anything touching the barrier. Your bullets will pass through from this side. Just make sure that they don't rebound and come back. If you leave the barrier, you won't be able to get back in until it falls. Got it? Good." Hunter was in a rush, so he wasn't going to waist time on their little chat. He padded to his whimpering partner and nudged her gently, a smile lighting up her face when Hunter woke up. "I'll get that side." She said in a hushed, weakened tone while Hunter nodded and faced the side of the sewwer that had a large Nyldrem making his way through. Mayia was standing and Hunter had curled his tail around her ankle. Energy built in Mayia's hand and did the same in Hunter's mouth. After building up enough power, Mayia and Hunter shot off a powerful beam. Mind you, that it was small due to Mayia's lack of energy, but it was enough to cut down the numbers to about two thirds, while a few decided to retreat.

Luna grinned "My, what a gentleman." She glanced behind her at the wolf, Rioku, then back at Skye, watching every small movement he made. She laughed, the sound was cruel and twisted. Luna took one last breath before she kicked off the ground, running. Luna attacked head on, she narrowed her eyes in the wind, and raised her katana higher. Might as well start off easy. She thought to herself. Luna was just an foot away, when she launched off the ground again, giving her a little height. Luna eyes glinted as she bought the katana down, aiming for the top of his head.


Ren quickly checked his shot gun to have all the bullets it needed. But just as he clicked it back into place; a Gryth pushed against the barrier. He spun to his left, facing the shadow, expertly he aimed for it's head and pulled the trigger. "To bad this doesn't get rid of them for good." He mumbled to himself, as he pulled the trigger again. But it will have to do. Ren glanced back at Mayia and Hunter, seeing them take care of themselves. Ren grinned, they seemed to have interesting power. His gaze caught yet another Gryth, he chuckled and blew its head of its shoulders. "Well this might be some trouble." He growled to Mayia, as the numbers piled up. This might be harder then it looks.

Zero pressed himself against the wall as a beam-light thing shot past. He snarled, louder, he knew this was a fight he couldn't win. But maybe if they're the ones who last longer, he could reap the benefits. Zero grinned and scraped his claws against the wall, signaling the weakest of Gryths to move ahead. The Nyldrem stalked silently, it showed no fear of the human's power. Which puzzled Zero, he could feel the power was strong from them. Could their leader be ignoring that important fact? Or does he have something else in mind. Zero growled and darted to the back of the group, a safe distance to watch, undisturbed.

Skye let out a breath, bringing one hand to his hat and tossing it towards the side. Rioku caught it and held it gingerly in his jaws. Skye lifted his blade and blocked Luna's attack from over head. To take so much time just to gain some height with little speed was easily dodged or blocked. The impact was something though. Not something that Skye expected from a girl that size. He was a good half a foot taller than this girl, and yet, her strength was enough to rival his. "I must say, your strength is impressive." He said simply before pushing back to get the girl's blade off of his, jumping back to create from distance between them. It was his turn. Skye ran forwards, his blade kind of dragging behind him before he came to close range and swung it towards the girl's waist with mercy. He wasn't going to go all out on a battle like this. That was just pointless.

Mayia could see that this was all trouble for them... Hunter was still pumped, but Mayia was just about finished. She fell to her knees, approximately five minutes left of energy for her to use to keep the barrier from falling. Hunter was the first to notice that Mayia was getting tired and pulled her back to the wall against her will. "Stay here. Just focus on keep it up. I'll look for a way to get us all out of this mess..." Hunter growled out, jumping out from the barrier and pushing down a few Grpths and wading into the water. He then noticed that the Cynth, all but the Nyldrem, were avoiding the water. "Ren! Mayia! They are avoiding the water. Please, come this way!" Hunter howled, kicking off the surrounding Grypth with his hind legs. Mayia was tired, but she did her best to obey, using the wall to pick herself up from the ground. She inhaled deeply before pushing off the wall and pushing through the Cynth that stood in the way, trying to keep the barrier up for Ren for as long as he needed it. "H-Hurry Ren!" Mayia cried out as she got to Hunter, getting scooped up on his back before touching that murky water again. It was kind of obvious, but Hunter just didn't want Mayia getting wet again.
