Waterpaw felt embarrassed. " Sorry for scaring away the fish," she mewed. "Where should we hunt now?"

"Its not your fault," said Hawksky. "You had pretty good form for your first time. I don't know of any apprentice who got a fish on their first try." Hawksky looked around. "Let's hunt in the forest for awhile."

Amberheart jumped down from her tree and walked deeper into the forest.

Waterpaw nodded and dashed towards the forest."What lives in here?" she asked excitedly. "It's so dark!" she exclaimed. Her eyes were adjusting to the dark gloom. She heard birds chirping happily. "Let's not get those birds!" she mewed. She didn't want to hurt them since they sounded so happy. "It would be so mean to kill those happy birds!"

Hawksky nodded, smiling. "We'll see if we can get some squirrels or mice or something."

"Yay!" she mewed. "So,how do I catch one?"

"Uh, it's ind of like a claw with another claw attached?" Suggested Princess.

Sandstar found the "clip". She bit into it and it slid off. "There. Now, how many moons are you?" she asked.

"A mouse will feel your pawsteps before it sees or smells you," Hawksky began. "So you have to stay downwind, but step lightly. Like this," He crouched down, his weight on his back legs, his tail straight and still. He stepped forward and seemed to slide from paw to paw. "Can you do that?" he asked.

Nightsplash ran around camp. "Help!" he cried. "We need to get rid of that fox!"

"Moons? Lets see, about six and a half, or just plain six." Replied Princess, confused why they wanted her age.

Sandstar nodded. "Then you are the age of an apprentice. You will just begin your training," Sandstar looked over the young cat. "Would you be okay with changing your name?"
