The world around them dimmed into the background as Nanuq began to talk. Her laugh was soft and airy, and the truth he spoke amused her. "I agree with that. " He was right, they had plenty of time, yet not enough. She was starting to realize, as time zipped by, that she could only get so much done. Her head remained on a swivel in case someone summoned her presence.

"Maybe one day, I'll have a bit more downtime to do other things," she spoke, her mocha eyes still focused on Nanuq. At least to her, the fun part of being a lower rank was having less work to do. Not to downplay anything that the others did. Everyone's role in this pack has value and great meaning. Without them, it truly would not work.

Her eyes landed on Niko and Blaze, the younger wolf's body riddled with tension. But as usual, his understanding father was to the rescue. She truly adored how great a parent Blaze was to Niko. The older wolf had taken her seriously when she gave Niko to them.

Nanuq soon regained Nova's attention, his answer did not disappoint. "That's a very positive way to look at it," She agreed. The previous territory had the past of everyone's emotional torment. However, the new land offered an opportunity for a fresh start. "We won't forget where we came from, but dwelling on the past isn't beneficial for us," she added. "Maybe share that with the others to lift their spirits." The entire pack could use a mood lift, and they may be able to achieve it if they shared the positive news among themselves.

Seeing how uplifted Nanuq was about the change in the territory brought on a new energy. She huffed a short laugh, glad he had taken advantage of the huge change. "To feel like a pup again," she repeated. Her muzzle raised to the air above, taking a deep breath, before returning to meet his gaze. "If only we could turn back time." She cherished being a pup, it taught her the roots of all and the freedom that came with it. There wasn't much thought when the question that followed came. Nova could not remember the last time she had a chance to wander off without hesitating. "Y'know. You might be on to something. That's going to be something I do today," she dipped her head.

Since their arrival a few months ago, she's been so focused on the pack. Thanks to Nanuq, she would take the pleasure and go for a run. To see what the new grounds had in store for them.

The young wolf let out a soft sigh, thinking he had escaped from his parents, mostly his mother. From where he stood, her attention was on the pups. No surprise there. A grip of hurt feelings and springs of jealousy raved through him. The reality of the situation is a mere earshot away.

Niko's ears flicked at his father's quiet signal for attention. His gaze softened, but his demeanor still displayed tension. While he never recalled Blaze being harsh with him, his guard remained to protect himself. "Nanuq beat you to it," he panted, breathless with exhaustion from his spent energy. Nanuq was an amazing uncle, always there to assist him in navigating what they called life.

The air around them felt stagnant, as if everything had halted. In his mind, he knew that Blaze would want to talk about the situation. It was obvious to both of them what was wrong. Ever since the girls came into the picture, he has tried to keep his distance. Niko took a moment to meet the gaze of Nanuq and Luna Nova, dipping to them both. The worry they had for him showed him they cared. That's all he ever really asked for. "Sure, lead the way," he answered.

The battle was almost over; he just needed to take the last bite. Athena's gaze followed his every move, the intense stare down. The gleam he gave her sent a slight shiver, something bout him staring at her while he let her win. She could tell it's far from over—finally, someone who brought on a little challenge and didn't conform.

"Thank you," she nodded. Pleased she did not have to go back and forth with him again. She nosed his cheek and nodded, silently inviting him to stroll around the territory. "I appreciate you letting me win," she teased. Athena stood on all fours and proceeded to walk away from camp.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The sun hung high in the sky, casting golden rays across the clearing where the heart of the Starlight Pack once pulsed with energy and movement. The afternoon air was warm, thick with the scent of pine and distant wildflowers, but Destiny barely noticed. She sat alone atop a sun-warmed boulder overlooking the trails below, her ears perked but her gaze distant.

For once, the mighty Alpha of Starlight Pack had no one by her side.

The forest around her buzzed with life—birds called from treetops, a breeze stirred the tall grass—but it all felt muted without him. Dante. Her Beta. Her anchor. Her best friend. Destiny had always carried herself with unwavering strength. Her presence alone could silence the pack just with a look. her command could move wolves like a tide. But Dante had been the one who knew her beyond the title. He stood beside her through bloodshed and peace, through moonlit hunts and quiet mornings. He was more than second-in-command—he was a part of her story, a steady heartbeat beside her own.

Now, the silence was loud. The absence of his voice, his dry humor, his calm insight in moments of tension—it left a space no one else could fill. She missed the way he would quietly stand just behind her left shoulder, always alert, always ready. She missed the way he saw her not just as Alpha, but as Destiny—a wolf with the weight of many on her back, and still, the will to carry it all. She narrowed her eyes at the trail far below. Was he out there now, navigating his own path, or facing something she couldn’t yet see? Her instincts screamed to find him, to run until her paws gave out—but she stayed. Because that’s what an Alpha does.

Still… her chest ached. The sun beat down, warm and bright—but Destiny had never felt quite so alone beneath it.

Risen stood still for a moment, his breath uneven but steadying, chest rising and falling with the last remnants of tension from their clash. The breeze tugged at his fur, but his focus was entirely on Athena—the flick of her ears, the pride in her stride, and the teasing glint in her eye.

He blinked once, slowly.

As Athena nosed his cheek, he tensed for half a second, surprised by the contact, then relaxed, letting a faint, quiet chuff escape his throat—his version of a laugh, rough and short, but warm. His eyes softened, their usual guarded edge giving way to something more open… respectful. Risen remained where he stood, his body still coiled with the last traces of adrenaline, ears tilted slightly forward as he watched Athena. Her words lingered in the air like smoke. “I appreciate you letting me win.”

A flicker passed through his eyes—amusement? Maybe. Or maybe something quieter, something unreadable. His lips twitched, almost forming a smile, but it never fully arrived. Instead, his gaze locked on her as she turned, bold and composed, walking away from camp like she owned every inch of ground beneath her paws. He didn’t move to follow.

Instead, he lowered himself slowly onto his haunches, shoulders relaxing as his tail curled around his paws. The sun filtered through the trees above, casting scattered light across his dark fur. He let out a soft exhale—half sigh, half laugh—as if to say, she has no idea. His voice, when it came, was quiet—so quiet it was meant only for the wind.

“N-n-not… o-over,” he murmured, the stutter barely audible, caught between his teeth like a truth he wasn’t ready to say aloud. And yet… there was a strange calm in his stillness. He watched her go until she vanished beyond the treeline, his eyes never wavering. He stayed behind, but a part of him had followed.

Blaze watched from the treeline, his silhouette still as stone, yet every sense trained on Niko like a sentry. He had waited. Gave the boy space, time, breath—but in his gut, he knew it wouldn't be long before the cracks started to show again. Not because Niko was weak. No, never that. But because he felt things more deeply than he let on. And sometimes, that kind of weight needed somewhere to land.

And Blaze—Moon goddess help him—would carry it if Niko let him.

He’d seen the shift in the boy’s posture, the way his ears dropped for a moment too long, the way his words came guarded, flanked by fatigue. Not physical exhaustion. Emotional. The kind that Blaze knew all too well. When Niko finally acknowledged him, Blaze gave a faint nod, slow and measured. His brow quirked at the mention of Nanuq, and for the first time in what felt like days, there was a flicker of amusement behind those ice-hardened eyes. “Of course he did,” Blaze muttered under his breath with the smallest shake of his head. “I send a signal, he sends a search party.”

His tone was dry, nearly expressionless—but it held a thread of affection. It wasn’t mocking of Nanuq, not in the slightest. It was just… how Blaze expressed warmth. If Nanuq was the fire, Blaze was the steady embers—burning quiet but always there. He stepped forward, slowly, making no sudden movements. Not because he feared Niko, but because he respected the armor the boy wore around his heart. Blaze knew what it was like to feel overlooked, like a piece in someone else's game—especially when it came to family. He knew that kind of ache, and it was one he’d never let Niko bear alone.

“You know, I was gonna wait,” Blaze said, his voice gravelly but calm, “figured you needed air. But your uncle beat me to the hunt. Typical.” He mentioned with a small chuckle, he appreciated the care Nanuq showed for Niko. Blaze would never be upset at the wolf's efforts. Blaze took a moment to pause between his sentences. The air falling still between them for a moment before he continued “But I’m not here to chase you down. You already came to me willingly. That’s enough.” He moved to Niko’s side, not too close—just enough to be present without invading. Blaze didn’t try to pull anything from him. He never did. He didn’t ask questions or press for answers. Instead, he simply offered something rare and sacred: Space. Steadiness. Trust.

“You don’t have to tell me what’s wrong,” he said after a moment, his voice lowered like he didn’t want the trees to overhear. “You already did without saying it.” Blaze shifted, sitting down in the grass, the afternoon sun casting soft shadows over his dark fur. He looked out at the forest rather than directly at Niko now, giving him the freedom to speak—or not. “But if you need to walk, I’ll walk with you. If you need to sit, I’ll sit. If you need to scream,” he added, dryly, “I’ll pretend not to hear it.” There was the faintest tug of a smirk at the corner of his muzzle—barely noticeable, but there. “You don’t owe anyone anything, Niko. Not your mother. Not the pups. Not even me.” His tone grew serious now, anchoring his words. “But if you need someone in your corner—really in your corner—look around. You’ve already got more than you think. And I’m not going anywhere.” He exhaled slowly, letting the quiet stretch between them like an invitation. He wasn’t here to fix anything. Just to be there, when no one else could be.

River didn’t look at him right away. Her eyes lingered on Willow, watching the younger wolf’s face, the way her ears barely twitched—tired, but listening. Then, slowly, River turned her head, the soft brush of their tails still lightly touching, grounding her in the present. “Yeah,” she murmured, voice low and even, like a stream running steady through stone. “We have each other.” There was a pause before she looked up at him again, her gaze steady. “You know… it’s not weakness, feeling bad. It means your heart’s still in the right place. Means you cared. Still do.” Her voice didn’t waver, but there was something deeper in it—shared grief, maybe, or just the weight of too many things left unsaid over the moons.

She gave a small shake of her head, brushing her shoulder against his briefly, not quite leaning—just a quiet offer of support. “No one could’ve stopped the avalanche. Not even Maison. Not even Chi. But I know they would’ve said the same thing if they were here. That surviving it… was enough.” Her voice caught ever so slightly on Chi’s name. “You’re here. That matters more than you think.” Another breath, this one slower. Her tail gave a soft flick, touching his again.

“And you’re right about the fighters. We’ll need to be smart with who we place where. Not just strength—strategy. Blaze will probably never admit it, but he trusts you. So do I.” She gave him a soft smile, tired but sincere. “We’ll build this back. Piece by piece. Even if we’re not who we used to be.” Her eyes drifted back to Willow again, softer now. “The pups are watching us. Even when they pretend not to. They’ll learn how to heal by watching us survive.”

She leaned into him just a little more now, letting herself rest in that brief moment of quiet, side by side in the fading light. “And I’m glad you’re still here, too.”

Eros

Mentions: Koa, Hyuuga, Dante, Emmy

Tags: Open for intraction

The voice was Koa's. "Dante... Eros..."

Food dropped from the healer's jaws onto the damp earth floor between them. Meat, smelling of the hunt, rich and promising. Eros's belly gave a sharp, hungry lurch, the familiar ache settling deep in his gut. Always the hunger.

"Before you go back out, Eros. Make sure you eat and quench your thirst." Koa's words were firm, the scent of dried herbs and the sick clinging faintly to his fur.

The pup dipped his head instantly, tearing into the offered meal. Play waited, yes, the sun likely still warm outside, but the meat was here. Warm flesh between his teeth, the sweet taste filling his mouth. Koa said afterwards he could go play. And to take it easy. How did one play easy? Playing was tumbling and chasing and biting ears, all fast and hard. Playing was the opposite of easy. He gulped down a chunk, eagerness a tight coil in his chest, warring with the simple, overwhelming pleasure of eating.

He spared a glance for Emmy. She was bent close to Dante, her voice a low murmur he couldn't quite make out. Dante was still pale, quiet. The healer's den smelled of sickness and mending. It was interesting, full of odd scents and quiet movements, but it wasn't... outside.

Koa had barely turned towards the entrance when a shadow fell across it, and a new scent, unfamiliar and sharp with strain and weariness, filled the air. Another wolf. He limped inside, movements stiff. An older wolf, his fur dull, his eyes holding a distant look Eros hadn't seen before.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Hyuuga." Koa dipped his muzzle, a sign of respect. Hyuuga, he called him. The new wolf said something back, his voice a low rumble.

Koa circled the newcomer, his nose working. A strange musk came off him, like dry leaves and distance. Koa's gaze settled on the wolf's leg, twisted at an unnatural angle, not quite touching the ground. It looked... wrong. Pained. Eros watched, head tilted, curiosity battling the slight unease the sight brought. Koa paused, his eyes flicking to Eros before returning to the leg. Was he being careful with his words? Why? The leg was just a leg, even if it was broken-looking.

"Come in, sit," Koa ushered him further into the den. The pup finished the last scrap of meat, licking his chops clean, his eyes fixed on the injured leg. Koa moved around, gathering more herbs, some dark and bitter-smelling, others cool and sharp.

"How long has your leg been like this?" Koa asked.

How long? Eros wondered too. Had it hurt the whole time? Could he still run? What happens to a wolf when his leg looks like that? A paw nudged at his full belly. Eat, Koa had said. Play, Koa had said. But the new wolf was here, with the strange leg and the scent of faraway places, and Eros's questions felt suddenly more important than any game. Still, Koa was talking serious. He should wait. But waiting felt a lot like being bored, and being bored was the worst kind of ache.

STARLIGHT PACK

SCYTHE
Female healer - crush/ mate are open - tags: Miracle, Goliath

She walked away from the healer's den, her eyes looking around the camp and its wolves. Her eyes turned to the fighter, approving them "hoh? A fighter itself offering a helping paw? That's something new, but no...I am not really lacking anything at the moment," she said with a sigh. "Thank you for asking..." she said to him simply.

KUROI
Female fighter - crush is Kiyu - tags: Kiyu, hunters
She looked to her sister, then to Kiyu. "That was your idea, no need to suffocate on the food thought, that could not be fun at all," she said to her sister, noticing how quickly she finished the latest bites. She looked at Kiyu, who was being rather silent for the whole time. "Are you still free to join us, or did you have some other plans now?" she asked Kiyu as she saw Miracle walking to Yomi also.

YOMI
female pup/ training TB hunter - crush is open - tags:

She rolled her eyes and took some quick bites of the prey and swallowed them almost whole, as she didn't feel like she could eat more, and she was not that hungry anyway, so she turned away from the prey to get to the others to eat it. She looked at Miracle. "Uh, sorry, Miracle, I am a little bit busy now, we're going out for rabbit hunting and my sister can wait for it...she is not even a hunter, but anyway," she said to her as she looked at Kuroi and Kiyu.

ERMIN
male hunter - crush/mate is Kuroyuki/open - tags: open

He took his share of the prey, which was not much as he was not that big eater, just enough to fill his hunger. The prey was big, so he could take more later, too. Licking his lips, he stepped away from the prey and sat a little bit further away from it so he could not be in anyone way if they wanted to eat some.

REDMOON PACK

CASTOR
male lead hunter - crush/ mate maybe Koll/ open - tags: Koll

He looked around before turning to Koll, who was approving him again. "Yes, what is it? There is not going to be any hunting for a while, so you could take your own time a rest," he said to him.

LABRADOR
male hunter - crush/mate is Kane/ open - tags: Castor, Kane, Koll

He blinked his eyes a bit. "Akiro? Well, I've heard or not heard, but had the feeling he likes males only, so...does Koll like them too?" he asked him then looked around with wonder 'weird, there is so many males who likes the same gender, I kind of feel sorry for the females...and what does that means to the pack...now as I think about all the pups are kind of like loners pups, the pack doesn't have their own pups...' he thought inside his head. He shook his head a bit to shake off the thoughts as he looked back at Kane. "What are you talking about? Gauge is right there with the pups, and Akiro is with River and that new female near the entrance," he said to him. He shook his head a bit. "If you need to speak with Gauge, then go speak with her, I am not going to be on your way or anything," he said to him "sure we can go to the lake I don't have anything better to do anyway on the moment so I don't mind really" he said.

KIZO
female pup - crush is open - tags: Azure, Gauge

She looked at the Gauge and Blaze talking about Niko. She liked Niko, but had never done anything with him, he was like an unknown to her, he didn't want to even be near her or Kioku, which made her feel rather depressed and sad. They were not blood-related to Niko, no Gauge, not even Blaze, but she thought of Gauge and Blaze as her parents and wanted to say Niko was her big brother, but likely, he didn't like or want it. Well, Azure could be like their older brother too. he had no knowing parents here, and he was also cared for by Gauge, so could they be kind of like siblings too? She kind of wanted to believe that, as it made her forget the fact that there was nobody for her except for her biological sibling Kioku, her mother had died, and she never got to know her father, and likely never will either.

KIOKU
female pup - crush is open - tags: Azure, Gauge

She finished her share and licked her lips a bit, flicking her ears as she listened to the conversation between Gauge and Blaze, even what Azure said, "Maybe you could go to him alone, I mean he knows you right? You've met him before, so he could remember you too, so it could be more pleasurable to him to see someone he already knows," she said to him. She then looked up to her sibling and Gauge a bit "What's Niko's problem anyway? We didn't ask our mother to die, or that we got saved from death," she said with a little annoyance. She also liked Niko, and wanted to know him better, but it was obvious that he didn't want the same, and that made her a little bit hate him. She sighed, "You didn't really need to take care of us either, but you did anyway, that's not our fault," she said.

HYUUGA
male loner (Redmoon) - crush is open - tags: Koa, Dante, and Emmy a bit

He looked at the healer a bit as he asked him some questions about his leg, he also noticed the small stare from the pup in the den, but didn't really mind it that much. He thought about his response for a moment as he got to the place the healer had asked him to sit. His leg got injured by the avalanche a few months ago, but did the new healer know about that? he was not sure."A few months...I am already very aware that this leg can not be saved. So do whatever you think is needed, amputate it or...whatever" he said to him.

WILLOW
female loner (Redmoon) - crush will be Niko - tags: River, Akiro

She looked at the other, still not saying anything about their conversation about this Milo wolf or others they lost in the avalanche. She didn't know any of them, but still thought the living ones could leave them in the past, where they belonged, so she didn't ask anything about that, as she could only open their slowly closing wounds. She looked at River, then at Akiro. "I see, but why could a lead fighter need to challenge the alpha? In my old pack, if someone did challenge the alpha, they were after that position, nothing else," she said with wonder. "Well, there were no lead roles either; it was Beta who organized the hunting patrol and led the border patrols," she said. She looked around a bit. The pack seemed peaceful instead unlike her old pack, which was very like a battlefield almost all the time. Their alpha was lazy and selfish, but the beta was like the true alpha of the pack; she took care of the pack and its needs. She sighed a bit, "So Lead fighter is like helper of the beta..." she murmured, wondering if her old pack also had lead roles like lead fighter or a hunter, could they have taken the heavy burden out of their beta?

Redmoon

Gauge- f- 3 y 3 mo- Fighter- bi- mate: Blaze- Niko/Kizo and Kioku- Tags: Blaze-> pups

The black phase she wolf turned green eyes back to her mate. She nodded as she looked at him, and watched his ears twitch. His ears moved a bit when she spoke the words she wanted to speak. She then fell silent, so he could speak. She glanced down to the pups a moment, and felt her heart warm at the sight of them. Then she thought of their boy again… she thought of Niko. Her heart clenched as she thought of him. She thought of how he seemed to be avoiding the two of them.

Shaking her head, she looked to her mate again, and oh how she loved that word. She watched his tail give a slow sway. She nearly squeaked when he brushed against her, but she stopped herself from that. She made no sound as he brushed against her. If she were a feline, she could have purred, but she wasn’t a feline. She nodded as he spoke to her, and she said “Yeah.” She then sighed at his next words…She knew it was hard for him but it was hard for her as well; she felt like she’d upset the girls earlier; having to tell them off, basically.

-adding-

Shaking her head, she let out a sigh as she looked to the pups. She nodded as she looked at them, and said “Of course you didn’t ask for any of that. I guess it’s just like…if all of you were my blood related pups. He would have still been jealous, or feeling left out. It’s because he was still a pup when you two came along. That’s my best guess, anyway, is because he was a pup. He somehow felt like we were trying to replace him, or like I was anyway…Also, of course I had to take you, none of the others were old enough.

You were just newborn pups, I wasn’t going to let you die. Having you two need me was just…a bonus, not that Niko was no good. He was a good boy, though it feels like he’s drifting away from me now…I wanted pups with Blaze, but we weren’t even mates. Now we are, and we have you two and Niko. It was nice having two tiny little ones that needed me. Your mother, rest her soul…was so young, but I knew she would have done a good job, if that Avalanche hadn’t happened….” She sighed and shook her head again.

Akiro- m- 2 y 3 mo- Fighter- homosexual- crush: Castor maybe, definitely Koll- Tags: River, Willow

The reddish looking male twitched darker ears. His darker tipped tail flicked, and he glanced to the younger she wolf as well. He noticed both he and River were hyper focused on the other. Willow was a year or so old, so she was already independent. However, in his eyes, a year old wolf was still like a pup. He knew she’d be able to handle her own. However, a bear or cougar or even prey animals could put her in danger…He felt like they’d need to protect her, if anything should arise. He nodded as he looked to River once more. He flicked his tail back and forth a couple of times. He said “Yeah…you’re right, that’s not a weakness. The little voice in the back of my mind, the doubt or whatever, tries to make me feel bad about certain things though.”

Doubt, guilt, both, whatever it was it caused a little ‘voice’. Everyone had a voice in the back of their head, when doubting or feeling guilty or other such. It would tell one You didn’t do enough, or You’re not good enough. It could even say Why didn’t you try harder? He let out a breath, when River spoke once more. Her tail also moved again, to touch his once more. He nodded as he looked at her, asking “You really think so? I…hope so, I hope they would be glad I at least even tried to help them.”

He nodded as she then turned the conversation back to the stuff about the leads. Also speaking about the fighters, and how all wolves here needed to be smart. He said “We’re all plenty smart. You’re right though…we need good wolves to be the leads. They have to be able to rally others, and actually lead them. Yes…we’ll build our pack back up little by little.” He agreed with her, then glanced over to the pups. They didn’t seem to actually be looking at them…but he didn’t mention it, only leaning against her and saying “I’m glad too.”

He then glanced at Willow, as he seemed to feel eyes on him and her. He listened as the other asked why would a lead need to challenge the alpha. He said “I don’t believe he actually challenged him. The old alpha said he could have the role. He just said Blaze had to spar with him, to prove he was worthy of it. You have to have a strong and smart Fighter to be the lead fighter.” Not that any of the fighters were actually weak. Akiro sometimes wondered why he’d become a fighter…He could definitely fight, but he actually didn’t like it much. He would have rather been a hunter, but here he was now. He tilted his head as Willow said lead fighter helped the beta. He wasn’t entirely sure that was actually true… since the beta helped the alpha, and told others what to do.

Azure- m- 7 mo- pup- likes boys- crush: Eros- Tags: Kizo, Kioku-> Koa, Eros, Dante, Emmy, Hyuuga

The blue-gray pup and white pup shook his head. “No, he actually doesn’t know me, since I came from the other pack but before that mama and I were loners. We were only in that Starlight pack for like half a day. Then I was found by your.. adoptive mother. I don’t think you two had been born yet, but I ran away. I was trying to find mama, and Gauge and another wolf found me. I could go to that pup alone, though, I guess.” He ripped off a chunk of food, then trotted over to the healer’s den. He peered in, seeing the pup and Koa and Emmy. However, he also saw Dante, so he crouched down a bit…Dante was an intimidating looking wolf. Azure said “Koa…i…I brought some food for the pup…for Eros,” he said, since he’d overheard Nova and some of the others say that name.

The pretty but still handsome male blinked his blue and brown eyes. He turned his attention to Goliath, watching the other stretch. He then sighed and nodded at the much bigger male. Listening as Goliath said he was going to head off now and not to forget what he’d taught him. He said “I’ll never forget what you taught me.”

The black phase one flicked their white tipped tail back and forth. He continued to eat some of the delicious meat. He wagged his tail back and forth, enjoying the taste of the food. He then stepped back and turned to Ermin, saying “H-Hey, um…would you want to hang out, or something?” However, he then looked to the three young wolves. He’d heard them speaking of going out to hunt again. They wondered if the three would need Ermin and Kuroyuki to go with them. Shaking their head, they then glanced to Miracle as well.

The golden-cream slender and slightly smaller female flicked her tail back and forth. She sniffed at the meat, which smelled really tasty. The fish and berries had helped a little bit. She put her ears back, saying “Oh, okay…well…good luck with that.”

    rank. hunter__pack. redmoon__mentions. blaze, castor__tags. nova
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

It had been quite some time since Nanuq chatted with the she-wolf, not as his luna wolf, but as Nova. She always had so much going on, so much to take care of. He didn’t always find himself on the same page as Blaze, but he had to admit, he was glad Nova had someone as strong as the lead warrior to rely on. He didn’t have her keen hawk senses, but he paid enough attention to know that the settlement within the camp had an off feeling. They were adjusting, making the space their own once again. On the thought of taking up space, Nanuq couldn’t help but scan the premises for Castor, a feeling of guilt bubbling up in his stomach. Oh, he was very sure Castor would have a lot to say to him for missing their morning patrol. And he’d probably have even more to say if he caught Nanuq cozying up in conversation with Nova instead of catching up on what he missed. Oh well. The past was the past now, he couldn’t rewind time to join what he had missed out on. Thankfully, the day was long. Another patrol would surely go back out at dusk.

When he glanced back over, he was almost startled to meet Nova’s eyes so directly. Her chocolate-brown eyes were practically shining, and he could nearly see the gears turning in her mind as she contemplated what he had just said. “You have a pack who loves and supports you, you can have downtime whenever you want.” Perhaps this was a bit naïve to say, but he meant well. If Nova wanted time to herself, the pack would readjust to make it work. They relied on her, yes, but they could handle themselves for a few hours. A hint of humour caught in his own eye, and he gently bumped her shoulder. “Better sooner than later; I fear I may have just seen a grey hair on your muzzle.”

Nanuq didn’t bother mentioning how he didn’t always think the way he had just spoken. Nova had a good point; the more positively they spread, the easier it was to embrace it on both an internal and external level. This wasn’t erasing their past, it was just a way to build more strength. Bonding, if one would want to call it that. He did feel like the pack had grown a bit distant: communication had thinned, and it wasn’t easy to ignore how often pack members failed to see eye-to-eye. Niko’s family was a prime example of that, he feared. The cycle had to be broken somewhere, at some point.

Luna Nova seemed to get it. He watched as she raised her head up towards the clouds, a smile pushing its way onto his face. As if on cue, a gentle breeze ruffled out her fur, as if she were running against the wind. “You don’t need to turn back time,” he shrugged. “You just need to step forward with a different perspective, I suppose.” His smile shifted into that of a mischievous grin as Nova continued onward. “Of course I’m on to something,” Nanuq returned cheekily, lowering his head ever-so-slightly. “I only speak the truth, miss Luna.”

He grew quiet for a second or two, briefly glancing out at the old oak trees that guarded their property. “Why don’t you join us tonight?” he suggested, as if he had any say in who went out for a late-night hunt. “When’s the last time you chased after a rabbit?” Her excitement radiated off of her the way sunbeams did in the sky. It was contagious, and Nanuq felt himself shifting his own paws, as if ready to burst off towards the woods at any second. “I’m not much help, but I do hope you can find some peace for yourself. Really. A lot is going on up there ─” he nodded his head, motioning to her own mind, “ ─you’re always doing things for us. I think you have every right to be just Nova for a little bit, don’t you think?”

    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Just as the young healer was beginning to feel like she could read the beta, he switched it up, revealing another slice of personality he had hidden under his thick black coat ─ or cloak. Emmy’s head shot up like Dante’s claws had just nicked her nose, the sudden change in tone taking her by surprise. And yet, as she stood there, blank-faced, giving him his platform to snap out at her, she scolded herself for thinking differently. He wasn’t here to make friends, and she was foolish enough to think otherwise, if even for a second or two. Things were far from even between the two: Dante was becoming increasingly aware of the upper hand Emmy had and was setting himself up for a battle the she-wolf was unaware she had initiated. She wasn’t one for smart comebacks, she had always praised herself for coddling others for their benefit. Their patients came to them for support. Although she didn’t think Dante was much different. She had said something surface-level, and he had taken her words and plunged deeply with them. She had meant nothing more than the words her sentences contained, but it was becoming increasingly obvious Dante was looking for something more. She didn't think it was a fight, though. Validation, perhaps? He was of higher authority in his home pack, after all; it only made sense for him to expect his interlocutors to simply abide by whatever he said. But her job wasn’t to dip her head and bow down to him. She was here to help him regain that power over his pack, not hers. Not her.

“I didn’t realize we were playing games here,” Emmy responded simply, her voice returning to that of a murmur. What was he going on about, talking about advantages and an uprising of potency? His scathing attitude was incongruous within the location he found himself in. She could already sense the smoke pumping out of his ears at her austere comeback. “Roleplay is not my forte.” There wasn’t a hint of humour in her tone, even if her words were the slightest bit sarcastic. He wasn’t looking at things as simply a patient in need of care, just as she wasn’t taking this in as an opportunity to belittle him. It was evident they were far from seeing eye-to-eye despite hearing the same words spoken to one another. There was a tiny part of her that almost wanted to admit that his over-analysis of their abilities was a bit flattering, yet again, in a semi-humorous way. Did he genuinely believe they brought him in here to get back at his home pack? One or two smart-mouthed warriors might have told him that upon bringing him in, but Emmy and Koa’s intentions were innocent. They wouldn’t have offered their support to tend to the wounded if they didn’t want to, it was as simple as that.

His attitude was growing on her nerves, something he honestly had the right to take pride in, given her typically high level of patience. “Listen here, you crow. You can pick at my words and squawk all you want. The only unfolding events going on here pertain to you, and quite frankly, it’s become more of a shadow than a storm cloud to us. I don’t care about your broken ego right now. Unless you’re happy losing an eye and half your wit, I suggest you stop twisting my words.” The tips of her ears were growing hot as they flattened against her head. “I don’t talk in riddles. I’m not trying to threaten you. Our packs may not see eye-to-eye, but we do not lie low enough to hold an injured wolf hostage to sway things in our favour. Call me a meticulous architect all you want. I have spent most of my days in this den to help others, not scheme against them. And if you cannot appreciate that for even a second, then please, help yourself up onto your paws. I’ll even show you the exit myself.”

Koa’s voice cut through her explosion, which was a relief to Emmy. Stepping away from Dante without offering a second glance his way, she nodded in the healer’s direction. “For now,” she answered. Curiosity soaked in that bubbling frustration as a few pairs of unfamiliar eyes gazed back at her. All lingered close to Koa. One looked particularly young. Both maintained an oddly calm expression, although perhaps she had just grown used to meeting daggers from Dante. “Hello,” she offered simply to the strange faces, unsure if they actually heard her or not. It seemed pretty obvious they were waiting for Koa to tend to them. Once Koa turned away, Emmy reluctantly shifted her position to view Dante once again. Despite everything he had said that practically sent her spiralling, she almost wanted to crack a slight smile at his dramatic description of Blaze.

    Almost.

“Shame,” she responded simply, taking a seat in front of him. “I suppose it is true that you must keep your enemies closer, then. And you’re sure you aren’t describing yourself?” This bluntness was foreign to Emmy, but she was growing tired, and her calmer nature was clearly going nowhere. The dark-coated wolf was now staring in the direction of where Koa had just been. “Friends of yours?” she asked him, referring to the two strangers who had just trailed out behind Koa.

Goliath
Starlight Warrior - Crush: Open - Tags: Scythe

Goliath couldn’t help but laugh,
“Yes! A rare situation indeed” he responded, looking down and slowly nodding his head. He took in a deep breath once he let all his laughter out,
“Goodness, I haven’t laugh like that in a while. But you have done everything? That is all good” he spoke with a happy grin, leaning closer to her slightly,
“And thank you for answering”. He said with a chuckle.

Koll
Redmoon Hunter - Crush: Uncertain - Tags: Castor

Koll eventually got himself over to Castor, slowly sitting down in front of him as the pain kept shooting up his front leg.
“N-no more hunts? Good.” He responded,
“My leg is killing me, I shouldn’t have tried to tackle that deer. I-it was stupid of me.” He said and looked down at both of their paws. His tail ticked under his his paws and he looked like he wanted to curl into a ball.
“B-but the pain is getting worse, and I’m struggling to walk. Could you help me get to the healer’s den?” He asked him softly, his head still looking down to the ground as he felt a wave of embarrassment rush over him.

Kane
Redmoon Hunter - Crush: Absolutely smitten for Labrador - Tags: Labrador -> Gauge, Blaze

“That is where I have no idea, my lovely hunter” he said, giving him a warm smile,
“Does Koll like Akiro? We will have to wait and see. But for now-“ the small, fluffy hunter rose to his paws with a small grunt,
“I need to have a word with Gauge who is surprisingly not that far away, who I definitely did see” he spoke, deflecting the fact he did not.
“I won’t be long…” he spoke, even though he wasn’t going to be far at all.
“We will go to lake after I speak to Gauge…and possibly Akiro…and possibly Koll again.” He added. Kane leant up and gave Labrador a big lick on the cheek,
“Behave yourself” he teased playfully with a wink before turning and heading over to Gauge.

He approach slowed as they seem to be in a close conversation. He sat down patiently waiting to be noticed. He glanced down at the pups, smiling at their fluffiness.
A small part of him would like to have pups of his own, but it isn’t possible. But he has Labrador now. Lab is everything to him. His heart fluttered at the thought of his crush.

Nova
[ Rank ] Redmoon Luna [ Age ] 3 Years Old [ Mentions ] Blaze & Niko [ Tag ]Nanuq

Nova's eyes panned over the pack again, mentally crossing her t's and dotting i's. For now, everything remained peaceful. She could hear the birds chirping in the trees. The breeze kicked up again, sifting through her fur. At his attempt at humor, the corner of his lips curled. "You're right. After the recent events, I would not be surprised if I spouted a grey." She joined him in the small flutter of an effort to keep the conversation light. While she had not spent time with Nanuq, the wolf knew what he was talking about.

"I'm confident that the pack would run smoothly without me," she went on, looking around the pack members. The previous leader may not have done a lot right, but he did great in choosing his successors. "I'll take you up on leaving the pack for a run. " The sound of running amok with nothing on her mind but her life sounded wonderful. It has been a long time since she could think of only herself. Even as the Beta of Redmoon herm find was solely on the pack's safety and playing guard to protect them.

Her bush of a tail whipped up a bit of speed at the idea of going on a hunt with her pack members. Nova's head cocked as he recommended her to join them. "I may take you up on that offer. Did you know I was once a hunter myself?" she asked. Most of the pack wouldn't know that, as she'd come in as a Beta from another pack. Being a hunter was her very first rank. "I'd enjoy chasing rabbits again, I won't lie - I may be a bit rusty," she chuckled at her comment. She could see herself now, going hunting, chasing a rabbit, and potentially missing it. And just like that, a small fire lit in her eyes at the excitement of a new adventure. "Thank you, Nanuq.," Her tone was soft. She was grateful to have him in the pack, his perspective was so different from the rest of the wolves she knew. "Have you always been like this?<" she questioned

Koa
[ Rank ] Redmoon Healer [ Age ] 4 Years Old [ Mentions ] Dante, Emmy, & Hyuuga [ Tag ] Eros , Emmy, Dante, Hyuuga, Azure

The conversation between Emmy and Dante dulled into the background. He could barely hear their voices now that he tuned in on the injuries Hyuuga sustained. His gaze was flooded with empathy for Hyuuga as he was on his way to lose a leg. Koa sighed, "I'm afraid you are correct. Let's get that thing off of you." he nodded in confirmation. While it had been a while since he separated a leg from its wolf, he had helped Hyuuga.

Koa showed Hyuuga to the other side of the den, away from Dante and Emmy. He was confident that Nova would not want the pack wolves conversing with an outsider. Especially not with it being Dante. While he wasn't around when the pack had succumbed initially, he'd heard a lot of rubbish through the grape vines. Koa picked up a few things in his maw before returning to Hyuuga.

Another voice rang in the den and pleaded to the moon goddess that it wasn't another patient. To his surprise, it was one of the pack's orphaned pups. He tilted his head at the young wolf's words. Koa had already gone out to get food for both of the wolves inside. "That's .. sweet of you. Why don't you and Eros take the meal outside the den?" he stated. The den was full, and he did not need pups playing in it. He motioned for Eros to follow Azure out of the crowded den. "Hey Eros.." he called to the pup. "Please take it easy and come see me after dinner," and off the young wolves went. His attention turned back to Hyuuga, "I'd recommend you lie down."

Niko

[ Rank ] Redmoon Fighter [ Age ] 1 Year Old [ Mentions ] Nanuq, Gauge, Kioku and Kizo (as the pups) [ Tag ] Blaze

Niko chuckled as his father agreed about Nanuq. The energy of the conversation seemed lighter than what Niko had been expecting. He thought Blaze would tell him to toughen up, but knew in his heart that his father would not react that way. Blaze's tone came off as expressionless, yet a hint of relief that he helped rein Niko home.

As the conversation went on, Niko's gaze fell to his paws. "I was going to wait as well. I jus -," he cut himself off. The words unwilling to flow as he'd hoped they would. His throat cleared, and his eyes shifted back to look at Blaze. " I needed the space, and thank you for not completely rushing me," he joked, his words laced with slight humor. It was amazing how he could instantly open up to Blaze, and the energy would shift. Maybe he needed Blaze to say something to ensure he was safe.

Despite Blaze creating a comforting environment and assuring him, he did not need to tell - Niko felt comfortable enough to want to release the press. However, he held his tongue until Blaze was finished talking. Niko quietly laughed, amused by Blaze's antics. The tone of the conversation shifted to something more serious, but Niko was too relaxed to notice. His stroll remained slow and steady beside his father. "Well, in this case, a walk and conversation will do.," he commented.

His tail flickered with ease behind him as their trail grew further away from the rest of the pack. "I think it is time to tell how I feel," he said, and inhaled slowly. His eyes shut for a moment, and his stride halted. "I wish I had been thought of before mom adopted the girls," he shared, and just like that, the weight was no longer there. His eyes flashed open, and he looked over to see his father's expression or maybe even search for a glimpse of understanding. "I've been pushing her away because all she seems to care about is the pups," he added, his tail whipped behind him as the pent-up emotion flowed like a river through his words.

"With all of the massive changes around us, I would have hoped that as a family we would have grown closer," he sighed in frustration. Exhausted from finally telling someone other than Nanuq how he felt. Everything sped up upon his arrival to Redmoon - they'd started sharing; a den, fighting Liberty, the avalanche, and now adopting two more pups. There was more that Niko wanted to say, but he knew that his words may not have been received well - after all, Gauge was still his mother and Blaze's mate.

Athena
[ Rank ] Starlight Hunter [ Age ] 2 Years Old [ Mentions ] RIsen [ Tag ] Open

    -----

Kiyu
[ Rank ] Starlight Hunter [ Age ] 1 Year Old [ Mentions ] Kuroi , Yomi, and Miracle [ Tag ] Kuroi

After filling her belly to its brim, the walk back toward her den felt like forever. At the entrance of the den, Kiyu took a good look around. A home that started to feel like home after a few months. The constant dwelling on the past sent the young wolf into a slight spiraling depression. She didn't think that she would lose Louie so fast. Her last parent lost protecting her and the other pups in the pack. Her ears lowered towards the top of her head, and her paws graced the ground beneath her.

Now that winter was over, the den began to warm up as the snow melted into the dewy grass. The young she-wolf plopped into the den, resting her body on the ground. Just as she was about to snuggle into her comfort position, she could hear Kuroi's faint voice talking to her. She rose to her paws and jogged over to her. "Of course I'm still coming. It was my idea," she teased.
