What is the Special Spring Breeding Event?
- This is a special breeding event for the month of May to allow for the breeding of both same gender equids (male x male and female x female pairs), as well as the breeding of appaloosa equids!
How does it work?
- This is just like regular breeding slots, but with a special twist to the pairs that are allowed to be requested during the month of May. Please note there are some differences to the rules this time around due to this special nature, so please check the rules below and ask if you have any questions!

**Please note, the following introduction story is just flavour text, meant to help enhance the event and is not canon in anyway. It adds nothing substantial so please enjoy these silly imaginings of how this event could have happened. If you have your own idea for how it happened, that's valid too!**
~ For those who are okay with a little whimsical magic ~
Your hooves beat down the fresh spring grass as you and your partner frolic and play in the warming sun. You realize you've found your way to a strange little oasis, a pool of crystal clear water in a lush valley of the mountains that you don't quite recognize. The break in the peaceful glade is appreciated though as you realize that you are thirsty. You both take a drink from it, pausing to admire the perfect reflections looking back at you. Just then, you see the little face of an equid foal peek from between you in the reflection. Confused, you look down to your side but see nothing. Looking to your partner in confusion, you both shrug it off as a trick of the light and enjoy a lazy meander through the meadow. The bright afternoon sun warms your coat and leaves you feeling sleepy, and the peaceful area is too tempting to pass up a nice nap. You lay down with your partner to rest as a soft breeze blows over your coats, the songs of spring birds lulling you to sleep.
You wake as you hear a little splash and soft snort, lifting your head as your partner does the same. Shaking off the water and prancing happily toward you is a foal that looks just like you and your partner. A baby? What was in that water? Well, congratulations parents, it's a foal!
~ For those who prefer a more realistic approach ~
Your head lifts from the sparse fresh spring grass you are grazing on as you hear a rumble of truck tires. Humans? Out here? Whatever could they want? Your partner joins your side as you both watch the two legged creatures wearing unusual white coats as they open the back of their vehicle and throw down loads of delicious golden hay. It is not uncommon to see humans offering to share their food through the winter season, and as they drive away, you and your partner happily trot down to enjoy the offered buffet. You fill your tummy and begin to feel a little drowsy, so you and your partner settle down in the sun for an afternoon nap. Periodically you stir in your slumber, dreaming the sound of humans speaking and you catch snippets of their conversation, "Genetics are-.... Experiment could be-.... Fantastic specimens-.... Collection is almost complete-.... Surrogate at the-...." Periodically as they talk, you feel a sharp pinch and poke, but you just flick your tail at the pesky insects bothering you in your sleep. Hours later, you stir and shake your head, blinking bleary eyed as you look to your partner at your side. What a strange, strange dream that was. Maybe hay in the afternoon after fresh grass isn't such a good idea?
It is a while later when you hear the humans return to your area of the valley, pulling a small trailer behind them. Could they be bringing more snacks? Or perhaps it is a new friend? Your ears prick forward and you and your partner watch as they free a foal from the trailer that gallops toward you. This foal looks just like you and your partner. A baby? When did that happen? Well, congratulations parents, it's a foal!

General Rules
- - You can see the breeding FAQ here. It has helpful information such as what can be requested in a breeding, what counts as permission, etc.
- Click here to see the standard breeding centre information
- If you do not own one or both of the parents you will need to supply permission to breed, this can be a screenshot of a message or a link to the owners records/gallery showing the slots.
- Artists can pick and choose which breedings to do and they may not be done in order. You can select a preferred artist but this is no guarantee.
- Please post your breedings for the May Special Breeding Event in this topic during the opening windows, not in the original breeding thread, so we can keep them organized.
- Once your breeding is complete please strike through or delete your request so we know it has been done
Rules for this Event
- - All appaloosa equids have officially been given 10 breeding slots to use for breeding. These can only be used during the Special May breeding event. Appaloosas are not able to receive more slots due to their normally sterile nature.
- Appaloosas cannot breed with other appaloosas.
- At this time, appaloosas can only breed with the opposite gender ie: stallion x mare pairings (this may change in future events as we test how this works).
- Each person can submit one request in this event, so you will need to pick if it is a same-gender breeding or an appaloosa breeding. This is to keep the artists from being completely flooded.
- Breedings will be accepted in 2 separate openings, one in the early afternoon by Oddly Shaded (so at night for the western hemisphere) and one in the early afternoon by KittyCatKita (so at night for the eastern hemisphere). We hope this will allow as many people to get a breeding in as possible.
- Breeding slots will not be limited for this event.
- Each breeding opening will be run for 1 hour and all requests will be accepted as long as they are a same-gender breeding or appaloosa breeding.
- Only same gender or stallion x mare breedings with an appaloosa in it will be accepted during this event. Regular stallion x mare breedings will not be accepted, since they have openings regularly through the rest of the year (this may change in future events, but we are testing this way to start, so please bear with us).

The small table below shows what kind of appaloosas you can expect when breeding down specific marking types and the percentage chance of them passing.
