Located in Treasure Town is the famous Wigglytuff Guild, known to have taken many apprentices under its wing, and many of the most well-known and legendary adventure teams have graduated from there. Four young Pokémon have chosen today to join. At least, that's what they intended to do. Before they make it up the stairs to the entrance of the guild, their resolve falters and they end up fleeing, down to the beach, where they sit and watch the sunset for a while, some Krabby nearby blowing gentle bubbles that float across the sea... and then they see them - four unconscious Pokémon further along the beach, in the sand.

Waking the unconscious Pokémon up, they learn that these Pokémon have lost all their memories of where they came from and their past, except for their names and the fact that they used to be humans. Despite this, the group also has a sense of familiarity with each other, and show themselves to be brave, especially as a team of bullies steal the treasures that the first group had once found together - fragments that have mysterious markings on them - and flee into the nearby Beach Cave. Deciding to team up, the eight of them split into groups of four, where they each track down the bullies and retrieve the treasure fragments.

Afterwards, the group decides to enlist in the guild together after all, forming two teams like they did in the Beach Cave. After they join, the teams settle into their new rooms within the guild, and meet the other teams that are also apprenticing. Over time, they take and complete jobs together, rescuing, treasure hunting and even apprehending outlaws in the various exploration dungeons. But there are strange goings-on. While on a mission to rescue kidnapped young Pokémon from a team of Drowzee at the top of Mt. Bristle, the four new Pokémon - the ones that were originally humans - receive visions throughout the journey, which help guide the teams as to which way to go, reveal what happened in the location, and even warning them of a trap set by the Drowzee.

Soon after this - and a few more instances of the new Pokémon receiving odd visions depending on where they are or the objects or Pokémon they touch (or even through dreams) - the authorities inform the guild that a team of criminals are stealing artefacts known as the Time Gears, which stabilize the flow of time in each region and cause time to stop when stolen.
The teams decide to take it upon themselves to travel around to try and stop this from happening - much against the advice of the other guild members and especially the second-in-command, stern and uptight Chatot. But there's much more than what it seems. What mysteries of the Time Gears will they discover? And what about the new Pokémon and their pasts? And just what are the intentions of the thief team? There is much to be unravelled.

Roleplay Information

Postby Consulting_Angel » Tue Apr 08, 2025 1:11 pm

This roleplay is based on the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky - with a few changes to accommodate more players! If you've not played any of those games, no problem, it'll be new discoveries for you throughout the roleplay.
Visions for certain characters I will PM before they take place in the roleplay, and will be up to the character's player to reveal what they saw in their vision - that is, if they choose to do so.

There will be a list of Pokémon you can choose from to play as, taking inspiration from the games. Only one of any species of Pokémon will be allowed, but there'll be plenty to choose from anyway.

    Allowed Pokémon
    - Any first-form starter
    - Pikachu
    - Eevee
    - Vulpix
    - Machop
    - Meowth
    - Skitty
    - Zigzagoon
    - Riolu
    - Shinx

Thief Team Pokémon can only be a second-form starter (though not from a starter line that has already been chosen for another character. For example, if someone chooses Charmander as a Partner Pokémon, you cannot choose Charmeleon as one of the Thief Team Pokémon. Again, there are plenty to choose from regardless!

    NPCs
There will be plenty of NPCs in the roleplay that can be used as and when.
Wigglytuff - the cheery leader of the guild that comes across as childish and unaware, but is more intelligent and powerful than others may expect.
Chatot - the second-in-command of the guild. Stern and uptight, but does truly care for the guild apprentices.
Dusknoir - a famous explorer that seeks to aid the guild in apprehending the team of thieves.
Kecleon Brothers - shop owners that are very protective of their stock, and extremely powerful.
Duskull - bank owner that will ensure any money you store with him safe.
Kangaskhan - runs a storage place that you can store away items and treasures with.
Treasure Towners - Various Pokémon that run other stalls and stores within Treasure Town, or are otherwise residents there.
Other Apprentices - Any sort of Pokémon that have formed their own teams.
Veteran Adventurers - Mostly final-form teams that are often well-known and sometimes even revered as treasure hunters and explorers.

    Legendaries
There are a handful of Legendary Pokémon that will be claimable. They will not have a huge role in the roleplay, but will still be playable for when they become relevant, and will often be fought against by the protagonists. They will not be used outside of what their role in the plot is, which is why they are separate. You may only claim one. They do not require a character form, just a willingness to play as them when the time comes.

    - Uxie
    - Mesprit
    - Azelf
    - Celebi (claimed)
    - Dialga (claimed)

    The Abilities
    - The four Humans-Turned-Pokémon each have an ability that allows them to see visions of either the past or future, depending on where they are or who/what they're touching. In the games, this is all rolled into one ability, but for this roleplay, I've split up the aspects as follows:
    - Dimensional Scream: touching certain objects reveals visions relating to the object and the area they're in.
    - Temporal Echo: touching certain Pokémon reveals visions relating to that specific Pokémon and their past/future.
    - Spatial Call: entering certain locations reveals visions of that location, particularly if that is where they are meant to be.
    - Spiritual Dream: visions manifest in dreams, and help provide a guide as to where the team should go next, as well as vague warnings that they should heed (if they can be deciphered in time).

Character Roles

Postby Consulting_Angel » Tue Apr 08, 2025 1:13 pm

You may have up to two characters, and both must have different roles. This may rise to three if interest is slow. See the above post for allowed Pokémon for each role, and keep an eye on the character list to ensure the Pokémon you might want hasn't already been taken. PM to reserve, and all characters to go in the discussion thread.

Humans-Turned-Pokémon
1. Ella | Mudkip | Dimensional Scream | Consulting_Angel
2. Temric | Totodile | Temporal Echo | Timoria
3. Lily | Bulbasaur | Spatial Call | selaphorys
4. Reserved | Shinx | Spiritual Dream | Bronzewing

Partner Pokémon
1. Maya | Eevee | SpiritStar3
2. Raine | Vulpix | Queen of flames
3. Reserved | Scorbunny | rybka
4. Name | Pokémon | User

Thief Team
1. Chaz | Monferno | selaphorys
2. Paolo | Floragato | Consulting_Angel
3. Torr | Torracat | SpiritStar3
4. Casper | Wartortle | Queen of flames

Team Allocations
Since exploration teams are no more than 4, the group is split into two teams. There's no real difference between them, but it means each team can do their own thing together without having to discuss it too much.

Team Courage
- Human-Turned-Pokémon 1
- Human-Turned-Pokémon 2
- Partner 1
- Partner 2

Team Tenacity
- Human-Turned-Pokémon 3
- Human-Turned-Pokémon 4
- Partner 3
- Partner 4
