Athena
[ Rank ] Starlight Hunter [ Age ] 2 Years Old [ Crush ] open [ Tag ] Risen

Athena’s deep gaze stayed locked on Risen as he looked at her, seemingly contemplating his next move. She kept herself from smirking, leaving him with an unreadable expression mantled on her maw. This game, the two of them chose to play. While very silent, with little words between them, it was entertaining. For a split second, she thought that she had finally won the match. Just before she could celebrate, she took a moment to realize - he had nosed it back over to her. For some reason, he was not willing to fold and let her win this. Athena’s head cocked, confused as to why he wouldn’t eat the rest of it.

At his words, Athena lightheartedly chuckled. As sassy as she could, she answered with, “Of course I did, and I always finish what I start.” Little did he know, she could go back and forth on this game all day. The sun would set, and a second meal would be served before she gave into temptation. Her stomach couldn’t handle any more food anyways. It was pointless for her to eat past her fill. She did her best to remain in control.

This time, she didn’t pick up the meal to move it. She was going to move him. Not thinking of her next move, she rose to her paws. One step in front of another, circling him, taking him in. One could say she was checking him out or attempting to read him. Athena grew closer to his side, her maw near his ear, "Eat the food." her voice slightly serious, not in a stern motherly way. "Please," she added to soften what could be seen as a blow.

    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Nanuq gazed steadily at Niko, almost as if he were deeply analyzing his nephew. It was evident many thoughts were rushing through the young wolf’s head, but Nanuq wasn’t going to press. Truthfully, he wasn’t too confident in his guessing abilities and was not about to attempt to dive into Niko’s busy brain telepathically. While he often tried hard to keep their conversations light (well, he didn’t actually try that hard because it really did just come naturally), Nanuq couldn’t help but let out a heavy sigh from his nose. He felt for Niko, genuinely. Perhaps it was for that reason that he had no issue steadily holding the young wolf’s gaze; it was like playing a silent game, seeing who would cave first. Nanuq didn’t feel the need to squirm, though. He wasn’t guilty of anything. Sympathetic, yes, but he had no power over what happened between Niko and his immediate family, now or any other time. He had said what he felt was appropriate. Gauge was his sister, but it wasn't his duty to defend her actions; that was for her to do. Niko deserved not only an apology, but also space to speak out about what was bothering him. The only thing Nanuq could do for that was hope Gauge would offer him just that.

Missing isn’t exactly the word I’d use,” he mused, intentionally stepping around Niko’s caustic choice of words so as to avoid further damage to his pride. He continued to hold his ground. Niko’s words weren’t offensive, but he was sure the reaction from both Gauge and Blaze would be much different. Especially Blaze – Nanuq knew the two had a special connection. He was more than happy giving Niko the floor, giving him space to respond to what was already put out there, though not without a few small knowing looks, ones that essentially were there to inform Niko that Nanuq caught his drift. “You know what I mean,” he finally said, although he was starting to wonder if that was true. “Adjusting to changes in the family is a new experience every time it happens. Usually, it’s a different experience, too. I think you’d be surprised by how often this happens, or at least from what I’ve gathered. Not to make this about me, of course, but when I grew up, I felt just as you are now. It was hard growing up without a father; it was easy for my mother to bond with Gauge, as a she-wolf to another she-wolf. And that was just my mother juggling two pups. I’m sure you could imagine how tough it is for Gauge to balance a larger family, especially since…” He paused for a second, once again not wanting to accidentally speak ill of his sister, of Niko’s mother, especially right to Niko’s face. “…Well, truthfully, I really don’t know if she was aware of the differences in how we were raised, despite being in the same litter.” His head was shaking before that last word had even left his mouth, as if physically shaking off his intervention. “All of that is besides the point. I’m sorry, Niko.” Nanuq’s shoulders dropped, his body taking on a submissive pose that certainly wasn’t something he commonly fell into. “I’m serious, though. If your mother made it through puphood dealing with my remarks, she’ll be a pro at handling what you have to say.” Now, as if a fresh sense of energy had entered their part of the forest, Nanuq’s voice returned to that of faint amusement once again. “And if you’re unsure about talking to her, go to your father. He was talking to our luna after you left. I do think he wanted to chat with you.” Was he pushing? It was entirely possible. But Nanuq was only attempting to offer a piece of his mind, and Niko knew as well as Nanuq himself that the young wolf was welcome to take as much or as little of what was said into consideration.

Allowing his eyes to catch Niko’s for just another heartbeat or two longer, Nanuq offered a small shrug. “And if worst comes to worst, I’m always around,” he added. He didn’t mean for it to come across as overly negative or even hopeless, especially since Niko had heard this a thousand times before. Nanuq wasn’t overly knowledgeable in the family field, but it was nice to have someone to talk to.

He only offered a small nod of his head when Niko wrapped up the conversation, albeit his reticence. Keeping up with ease, Nanuq contemplated whether to say anything further or not. The camp was surprisingly closer than it felt when he left, but he paused just before entering the pack: “You’re welcome to come find me,” he told Niko, intentionally keeping his words broad so it didn’t seem like he was suggesting the conversation between the young fighter and his family would go one way or another. He didn’t like leaving things on more of a heavy note, but really, there was only so much humour one could apply to a situation such as this one. He allowed the tawny wolf to step first, but forced his eyes elsewhere, figuring that Niko feeling his hot gaze on his back would only add to the pressure. Niko was young, but he still had enough agency to decide for himself whether he would actually speak up to his parents or not.

Once the gap between them grew, Nanuq dropped back, all four paws planting firmly on the ground. In the distance, he caught sight of Nova emerging from her den. His ears perked, remembering the conversation between her and Blaze that he had hastily interrupted before leaving the camp in the first place.

“Luna,” he called to her, dipping his head in greeting. He never really did know when it was appropriate to refer to her by her title or her name; the title always seemed like the safe option. “He has come back.” Nanuq didn’t feel he had to specify he, especially not when there was only one he who had vanished earlier that day. “Not without tension, but…” Nanuq’s sentence died off as he caught closer sight of the she-wolf, who looked startingly exhausted. “…But it seems that’s going around right now.” He said it suggestively, a silent indication of her expression. “Is everything alright?” Was it his position to ask? He supposed not, but at the end of the day, Luna or any other rank, she was still his packmate.

    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Engaging in conversation with the Starlight beta brought about an entirely different perspective than what Emmy had crafted from bordering whispers and muttered comments. Perhaps it was his quick-wittedness that had everyone shifting their paws the moment his name fell off the tip of one’s tongue. Emmy knew she was naïve in the sense that she felt no different standing before him than she would with a pup of her own pack. She wasn’t trying to pursue the scandalous making friends with the enemy path, but it wasn’t in her blood to automatically treat another differently because of where they came from. Besides, as a healer, she felt obligated to work with anyone; their health would forever be more urgent than some surface-level tension. Well… She knew it was a little more than surface-level. If Emmy had any power over it, she’d want to gently scold both Nova and Destiny for not doing anything about it; to look past the minor problems and focus on what was creeping up on them. Like everything else, that was much easier to think about than to conduct. Emmy wondered if Dante felt the same way, but during their one-on-one interaction. Did he feel he had enough power over her to feel that it was she who should abide by his words? Even if that was what was going through his mind, he obeyed her words by dipping his head back down to meet the tops of his paws. That was all she wanted.

“Reputation means nothing to me,” she countered, a sense of mirthfulness coating her words. “Besides, you’re stuck in the middle of a camp that’s not your own. I fear your ego may only get more hurt out in the big world.” By big world, she, of course, was referring to the larger portion of the pack that were not piled within their small medical den. Was that something that would make him snap at her? Emmy let her gaze rest on him observantly. It was entirely possible. But his choice of words had been tinted with wit up until this point, and she couldn’t imagine he’d suddenly change his mind. It would be foolish of him to try and cause disturbance to the pack, not that she felt he was planning on doing any such thing. He was in a vulnerable position, both because of his physical injuries and his current position. Emmy couldn’t help but wonder if he was aware of that. How did Starlight wolves analyze? How did they think? These were questions she would never ask; a typical Redmoon response would tell her to be aware of their battle tactics, rather than intellect.

Dante, at least, was as bright as ever, and Emmy was beginning to understand why he was beta of his pack. Even with an injury weighing him down, he was undoubtedly sharp. She tried hard to hide it, but she was quite enjoying the bantering. It wasn’t something she was able to engage in very often. Even Emmy knew she spent too much time pondering, fretting over the what ifs rather than focusing on the what now. This was a nice change, even if some would see this interaction as engaging with the enemy. Although really, enemy truly did seem like such a harsh word.

“Someone bumped your head?” she echoed, furrowing her brows. Goodness, leave it to Koa to pack a pawful of surprises and send it her way! “I can’t say I’ve been a healer for too long, but I can admit that that is the first time I have heard that come from a full-grown wolf. Usually bumped heads are from the pups running into one another.” She shifted just slightly as his head popped back up, as if she had forgotten how intense his gaze was. And yet, as soon as her confidence had begun to shrivel up, a spark ignited within her once again when he commented on her name and being wounded by her declaration, finding another opening. “Well! I suppose it’s a good thing you’re already here with us healers, then.”

The lightness in her words seemed to linger in the air for a heartbeat or two before the mood of the conversation shifted, the attention focusing in on his swollen eye. Emmy wasn’t ashamed to say Koa had more knowledge than she did in this field, for he had been in the position longer than she, but a second opinion never hurt. “Well,” she voiced once again, taking a few steps forward to view him more clearly. “I will be frank with you, it certainly does look irritating. I wouldn’t lie about the severity to someone who can take the truth. But I trust Koa’s words; with some cold compression and ointment, I do think it’ll heal up nicely. You’ll notice a big difference in the swelling within the next day or so.” In any other position, Emmy wasn’t so sure she’d be blunt enough to ask for details on the incident, but the vague response she had received didn’t provide much information on how exactly this all went down. “Someone bumped you, you said? How did that happen?”

STARLIGHT PACK

SCYTHE
Female healer - crush/ mate are open - tags: Miracle

She walked toward the camp, getting the fresh scent of prey in there, which meant that the hunters got something to bring back. Entering the camp, she noticed she was being right as the pack was already eating a large prey there, shaking her ears a bit, she turned to Miracle, "Put the fish near the den in that shadowed place and then go to eat something," she told the younger female wolf as she started to move toward the healers den to put the berries down there.

KUROI
Female fighter - crush is Kiyu - tags: Kiyu, hunters

She looked for the pack a bit, seeing her mother and Miracle coming into the camp with some berries and fish. She flicked her tail a bit and got to take some large bites of the prey and stepped back to eat them in peace, without bothering the rest of the wolves eating the prey. Her eyes wandered to Yomi. "Eat up, Yomi, if you wanted to go out for the rabbit hunting?" she told her sister as she took another bite of the meat she had taken earlier.

YOMI
female pup/ training TB hunter - crush is open - tags: Yuui, Goliath

She looked at Yuui. "Well then, hunters are all back now, so you could ask if any of them showed you some of the basic hunting moves now? I mean they don't likely want to take you with them to an original hunting without any basic knowledge..." she said to her. She looked over to her sister a bit "yes, yes...inpatient as always..." she murmured with a sight and took some of the free spots of the meat to eat.

ERMIN
male hunter - crush/mate is Kuroyuki/open - tags: Yomi, Kuroyuki, hunters

He kept eating the prey, not overeating even if he was actually very hungry, not having eaten almost anything before now, but likely most of the others were either as this was the first big prey, or actually there was that other one too, but it was not as big as this one. His ears perked a bit as he listened around for the others.

REDMOON PACK

CASTOR
male lead hunter - crush/ mate maybe Koll/ open - tags: Hyuuga, open

He sat there and looked at the pack eating the prey, or most of them. His eyes wandered to the wolves outside of the prey, Luna Nova was talking with Nanuq, the hunter, who was also the one he wanted to question a bit. Where was he all this morning, but it reminded him of the situation with River and Gauge a bit. So he let it pass for now, all of them had their reasons, and it was not his job to order what they do and when. They also got the prey, so the pack could be fully fed for some time now.

LABRADOR
male hunter - crush/mate is Kane/ open - tags: Castor, Kane, Koll

He finished his share and sat down a bit. "Well, that's easier said than done, getting a shy one out of its comfort zone is not going to be easy thing to do..." he responded flicking his white tail a bit "we could see if we can find someone who is also shy a bit, I mean similations can get you closer right, too energetic one may make him feel uncomfortable" he said.

KIZO
female pup - crush is open - tags: Azure, Gauge

She looked at Azure, "If you say so..." she responded simply as she took a bite of the prey again. She looked up to the den where the stranger pup, or still rather stranger to her as she had never met Eros before, "Do you think the other pup was eaten yet, maybe he could like a bite?" she asked in wonder. She looked at Kioku. "I know, but...I am curious," she murmured.

KIOKU
female pup - crush is open - tags: Azure, Gauge

She ate her share, not answering Azure, but she did hear him. Swallowing, she looked over to her sister, who was once again talking about the new pup. "I don't know, but did we need to let him stay in peace for a while, without bothering him?" she asked her. She sighed a bit, "So do I..." she responded.

HYUUGA
male loner (Redmoon) - crush is open - tags: Koa, Dante, and Emmy a bit

He walked over to the healer's den. It smelled different; it didn't smell like Maison, it was already a few months, and the pack moved their camp elsewhere, so of course the familiar healer's scent could not be there, as he had never ever been here, as he died at the old camp. His eyes studied the den a bit before finding the unfamiliar healer there."You must be the new healer, Koa, right?" he spoke up. "I am Hyuuga...I was once in this pack..." he said, then shut his mouth shut.

WILLOW
female loner (Redmoon) - crush will be Niko - tags: River, Akiro

She listened to the other two more, still wondering who was Milo they were talking about, but didn't ask about it as it was obvious the subject seemed to be very hard on them, likely an old packmate who where lost to that avalanche. Her ears blinked a bit when Akiro suddenly mentioned the Gauge and Blaze being someone adoptive parents and it took her a while to understand who he meaned, before realized that he likely meaned Niko's adoptive parents "Uh okay..." she responded in little confusion "lead fighter? what is that? What makes him different for another fighter..." she questioned suddenly.

Redmoon

Gauge- f- 3 y 3 mo- Fighter- bi- mate: Blaze- Niko/Kizo and Kioku- Tags: Blaze; Kane

The black phase she wolf turned green eyes to look at the pups a moment. They were talking as they were eating their food. Well, Azure was talking anyway. He seemed to be bringing up the fact the fighters had already gone out on patrols. She nodded her head a bit as he was right, though they may have to do an evening patrol. They could never be too careful…She was hoping the two Lunas would want to meet though. To discusss peace, to discuss an alliance or a treaty or whatever they’d want.

She looked to her handsome mate once more, and saw him watching her. She tilted her head, and gave her tail a wag. She said “Okay, but I’m not going to play right this minute. They’re eating, and we need to eat too…” she said, giving him a look. She was pretty sure he hadn’t eaten yet. He’d been with Nova, and then he’d been here, talking to her, checking on her. She said “You need to eat…and we were supposed to check on Niko. Though hopefully he’s coming back from wherever he went to.”

She noticed how he looked towards the camp entrance…She assumed he was looking for Niko.

She shook her head a couple times. Saying “Watching is fine,” and looking at the prey then.

Akiro- m- 2 y 3 mo- Fighter- homosexual- crush: Castor maybe, definitely Koll- Tags: River, Willow

The reddish looking male twitched darker ears. His darker tipped tail flicked, and he nodded as he looked at her. He glanced to Willow for a moment, then looked to River again. His tail stilled, and he said “I know it’s dumb, but I feel bad we couldn’t save them..It was an avalanche though, there was no way we could have saved the others without putting ourselves in danger.” He shook his head a couple times. He looked towards the others gathering at the prey, and he watched some of them eating. He then put his attention back on the two females. He flicked his tail again, before stilling it once more as he just looked at them. He then said “you’re right, none of us are alone. We are a pack, so we all have each other, even if…some of us maybe don’t get along as well.”

He glanced to Willow once more. Flicking his tail gently back and forth a couple more times as he watched her a moment. He had explained to her that Blaze and Gauge were the adoptive parents to Niko, though she seemed confused by this at first. Then she was asking what a lead fighter was, so he said “Well, for one thing they lead the other fighters, so they have to have leadership qualities. Also…he had to fight our previous alpha in a spar, and he won against him so that’s how he became lead fighter.”

Azure- m- 7 mo- pup- likes boys- crush: Eros- Tags: Kizo, Kioku

The blue-gray pup and white pup listened to the two adults speaking. Blaze didn’t seem like he actually wanted to be around them…Azure sighed, shaking his head a couple times. He then looked to the twins, and he nodded to them both. He said “He does need to rest, but we could go meet him. He’s probably hungry, so we could bring him some food.” If they didn’t actually want to go though, he couldn’t make them. He was definitely going to go see Eros though, and bring him some food.

Starlight

Yuui- m- 9 mo- pup- boys- crush: Eros- Tags: Goliath, Yomi

The pretty but still handsome male blinked his blue and brown eyes. He then looked to Goliath, as the other ate. He pulled some meat off as well, and began to eat said meat. Before looking to Yomi, and nodding as he looked at her. He glanced to Ermin and Kuroyuki, saying “There’s Ermin and Kuroyuki. Maybe one or both of them would be willing to train be a bit.” He flicked his tail back and forth a couple times. Then lowered his muzzle to the meat once more, taking yet another bite of it.

Kuroyuki- m, f at times- 2 y 9 mo- hunter- crush: Mikage, Ermin- Tags: Ermin

The black phase one flicked their white tipped tail back and forth. He twitched and perked his ears, hearing the others talking. They didn’t pay too much attention to the actual conversations. They just knew some of the others were talking to one another. They shook their head a couple times. Then continued to eat the large bit of meat they’d pulled off from the rest of the prey.

Miracle- f- 1 y 3 mo- healer- crush: Yomi- Tags: Scythe, others

The golden-cream slender and slightly smaller female walked. She carried the fish, and together the two soon reached the camp. She nodded, when Scythe told her to put the fish in the shade. She said “Okay,” and took the fish to the shadowed place. She placed the fishes down there, then went over to the others. She saw Yomi with Goliath and Yuui, and shyly said “H…Hello, Yomi.”

Kane
Redmoon Hunter - Crush/Mate: Labrador - Tags: Labrador - Mentions: Gauge, Blaze, Akiro

Kane listened to Labrador as he stared off in the direction of Guage and Blaze.
“Yeah, you’re right again” he agreed,
“I think I should talk to Gauge. We have talked in the past about trying to connect up Koll with the fighter Akiro.” He explained. He tilted his head up to Labrador, trying to get a good view of his face. Kane couldn’t help but admire how handsome this hunter is.
“Hopefully…things work out with those two. I need to find out where the warriors are.” He told Labrador.

Kane rose to his paws, his head still having to tilt upwards to look at Lab.
“Shall we go get some info?” He asked Labrador, his tail wagging in curiosity,
“Once we get this done, we could go back to that spot by the lake. With recent events going on I wouldn’t mind enjoying that view of the water with you again. It’s been too long” he suggested

Koll
Redmoon Hunter - Crush: None Yet - Status: Injured Left Shoulder - Tags: Castor

With a firm huff he rose from the ground.
“I’m never gonna- Gah!” He gritted his teeth as pain shot up his forearm to his shoulder, causing him to fall back down to the ground. The injury from the hunt hasn’t improved from his nap.
‘I shouldn’t have rested, it’s only made the pain worse. I should’ve kept moving or even better seen the healer’ he thought and shook his head.
He slowly began to rise to his paws, the pain gradually getting worse the higher he got. But this time he got to his full height.
‘If I slowly move, I should be fine’ he mumbled to himself as he began to slowly step out of the den and into the open of the camp. Koll looked around, trying to find the healer. No where to be seen from the hunters dens. He continued to scan until his eyes locked onto Castor. He sighed, not wanting to draw too much attention to his injury, but he has no choice.
“Castor…” he voiced was quiet, Koll was uncertain that it even reached him from this far away. He weakly began to walk towards him.

Goliath
Starlight Fighter - Crush: Open - Tags: Yuui, Yomi, Miracle, Scythe

The tall wolf stretched and stood up,
“Righto younglings, I’m gonna head off. Yuui, don’t forget what I taught you, it may even save your life or even better, somebody else’s” he told him. He looked over to the approaching wolf. Miracle, the new healer. He respectfully dipped his head to the young female before looking over to see Scythe. He raised an eyebrow, surprised to even see the healer. He made his way over.
“Hello Scythe” he greeted, a small smile forming on his scarred face,
“Is there anything I can help with?”

Nova
[ Rank ] Redmoon Luna [ Age ] 3 Years Old [ Crush ] Open [ Tag ]Nanuq

The Luna, alone again, slowly walked around camp. In a sense, she was watching the pack members mingle amongst themselves. A beautiful sight to see. After everything they'd been through, it slowly shifted back to normal. The emotions were still high from the loss of the fallen pack members. Maybe a vigil for the lost souls would help mend some of the wounds the avalanche left amongst them. Another item added to the list of things to be done.

Nova stopped in her tracks, eyes panning over to see Niko, with Nanuq at his side. A soft, yet exhausted smile slipped across her lips. She was glad to see Niko return home, and as curious as she was, she knew to give him his space. Whenever he was ready, he would find her. She settled on her haunches and swooshed her luxurious, fluffed tail around her paws. Her face, while she could not help it, expressed exhaustion. Between running the pack, trying to get things settled, and ensuring everyone's safety, she was a goner. Nonetheless, with it just being her leading the pack, she had to do whatever to keep everything afloat.

Her thoughts raced down the tracks, trying to prioritize things over others. Some days, she wondered how Liberty did it. How did he uphold himself while managing the pack? After a brief thought on it, she laughed to herself. If Liberty didn't have her, he may have been on the same path. Leading with just one wolf was hard. It wasn't her not being used to it, but her having to do everything alone. She had Ghost, but things happened, and now he was gone too. Nova wanted to ask Blaze, but knew with the new role and family to care for, it was too much to ask of him.

The racing thoughts soon subsided when a voice rang in her ears. Nova blinked a few times, back to reality, to look over at the brute near her. "Nanuq," she greeted pleasantly. He'd informed her of Niko's return, and in response, she nodded. "Thank you," she said. While Blaze and Gauge are Niko's primary caretakers, she could not discredit Nanuq for his assistance in the young wolf's upbringing. "It's a lot going on; in due time, things will settle," she commented on the tension. More so, over the entire pack and not just Niko.

As Nanuq checked in with her, she gave him a soft smile. How sweet of him. "It's been a mission, but nothing I can't handle." Her determination rose through her voice. Nova knew better, everything would pan out, she needed it to. It all started with her and trickled down the line. "I will say it is hard running a pack alone, Liberty taught me that," she huffed. She knew it would be a challenge, but wasn't expecting so much chaos so soon. Her gaze settled on Nanuq. "How have you been, adjusting to the changes?" she asked him. Though she was almost positive, she knew what the answer would be.

[color=#40BFFF]
Koa
[ Rank ] Redmoon Healer [ Age ] 4 Years Old [ Crush ] open [ Tag ] Eros , Emmy, Dante, Hyuuga

After carefully assessing Eros, he gathered a few herbs, water, and most importantly, food. He ensured he grabbed enough in case their prisoner patient wanted something too. With everything back in the healer's den, Koa could see Dante wasted no time talking with Emmy. "Dante ... Eros.." he called them both. The food dropped from his maw and onto the floor between them. "Before you go back out, Eros. Make sure you eat and quench your thirst," he instructed the young wolf.

He briefly panned over to Emmy and gave her a nod. "Are you on patient duty now?" he asked. It would not bother him to catch a break as he did his best to mend the two patients in the den. Koa turned his attention back to the smaller wolf, "Afterwards, you may go play, but please take it easy," he added, emphasizing so the pup understood.

Koa barely made it to the entrance before patient number three walked in. He started to look over his shoulder at Emmy, but figured she had her paws full with Dante. And this patient called him by name. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Hyuuga," Koa dipped his muzzle respectfully. This wolf claimed to be one of them before the avalanche. Koa made a quick circle around him, and based on the musky scent that radiated off him, Koa believed him. Besides, he would not have gotten this far without running into Nova. Carefully, his gaze assessed Hyuuga, making note of his fourth leg injury. "I see that your leg," he paused, glancing at Eros. While he was not considered a baby anymore, he still minded his words around him.

"Come in, sit," he ushered the older wolf in. Quickly, Koa pulled what he needed to aid this wolf in need. He walked around the den, picking up things with his teeth to take over to Hyuuga. Once everything was settled on the den floor, "How long has your leg been like this?" he inquired. It would help; he would choose the best avenue for Hyuuga. From the looks of it, the leg was on its way out, and it is a good chance that he would be losing that leg. With the troubles he more than likely endured over the last couple of months, until he returned home.

The walk back felt like an extended drag strip. Niko felt anxious as he'd soon have to face his parents. Somewhere deep down, he hoped they would not bombard him with questions. Although he did not blame them for it, he was sure they worried about him. Especially if Nanuq had made it to him to check in. While the gesture wasn't taken as spying, Nanuq's timing was just too perfect, as always.

His ears remained snuggled atop his head as he managed to flush his thoughts. Niko mentally put himself off a task to avoid his parents for as long as he could until he expressed how he felt about the new family members. It was not that Niko hated having siblings, despite the decently sized age gap. He felt he was not thought of when bringing on the other pups. In his heart, he knew Gauge's intentions were too pure for her good.

His eyes looked over at the wolf in stride with him. "I guess. When I get the chance, I'll talk to her," he nodded to his uncle. He just wanted a little more time away from both of his parents. Niko would not mind seeing Blaze or even talking to him. The bond the duo shared was similar to what Nanuq explained before. They, being male to male, bonded with ease. However, Niko spent most of his time with her and cherished the wolf he called 'mom'

Respectfully, he dipped his head as they entered camp again. Speaking to some of the wolves that waltzed by them. It seemed that Niko stayed out a little longer than anticipated. The fighters and hunters had all beaten him on his return home. He looked through a few of the smaller crowds, seeing where he could fit in that wouldn't make him feel the need to explain his brief absence..

Risen stayed still as stone when Athena began to move. He felt her presence circling him, close enough to read his breath if she wanted. But he didn’t flinch. Not out of indifference—but out of control. If she was testing him, she’d find the same quiet strength there she always did. Unshaken. Still waters. When her voice brushed his ear, something shifted—barely, but it was there. His eyes flicked toward her, slow and deliberate. He didn’t startle. He absorbed it. Eat the food. Please.

The word please sat with him, heavier than it should’ve. A beat passed. Then two.

His golden eyes dropped to the food, then slowly, purposefully, back to hers. There was no mockery in the way he looked at her—just that steady, thoughtful stare. The one that said he saw her, and he heard her. Then, wordlessly, Risen leaned forward and took a single bite. Chewed. Swallowed. All while holding her gaze, unblinking. A long silence hung between them after, thick with unsaid things. Finally, he parted his lips, jaw clenching once before he forced out a quiet, broken whisper. The kind of voice that came from a place rarely touched.“Y-…you win.”

The corners of his mouth almost—almost—curved, but the expression died before it bloomed. His tail gave one soft twitch behind him, brushing the earth. Then he lowered his head again, watching her from beneath his lashes. Game acknowledged. Round surrendered. But not over.

Blaze’s ears flicked forward at her words, catching the familiar blend of warmth and gentle firmness in her tone. The she-wolf he called his mate had always known how to balance her heart and her duty—how to care deeply while still keeping the pack in mind. It was one of the many reasons he loved her. He let out a soft breath, the faintest edge of a sigh. His amber eyes lingered on the pups for a moment, watching as Azure excitedly chattered through mouthfuls of food. The others were quieter, more cautious—something he still hadn’t gotten used to.

Blaze’s tail gave a slow, thoughtful sway as he stepped closer to Gauge, brushing his side against hers with a quiet affection. “You’re right,” he said lowly, voice just for her. “I’ve been running on fumes this morning, and I’ve barely had time to think straight.” He paused, dipping his head slightly. “I’m trying, Gauge. With the pups. I know this is what’s right. What’s good. But it’s not coming easy.” His gaze drifted back to Azure and the others again. “Every time I look at them, I think of how sudden it was. How Niko wasn’t really... part of the decision.”

Blaze’s tone didn’t hold anger—just a quiet struggle he couldn’t quite hide. “It’s not that I don’t want them to be safe. I do. But I can’t stop thinking about how Niko might be feeling. Like he’s being replaced. Pushed aside.” He shook his head gently, then looked back at her with soft determination in his eyes. “I need to talk to him. I need him to know he’s still my pup. That he’s still my priority.” He nosed lightly at Gauge’s cheek, offering her a little nuzzle. “I’ll be back after. We’ll eat together, alright? And if not I'll make sure we can go on our own patrol later.” He gave her one last lingering look, then turned, paws steady and purposeful as he followed the scent of the young wolf he still called his own.

It didn’t take long. Blaze spotted Niko weaving through camp again, the young wolf walking beside Nanuq with his head low and his mind clearly elsewhere. The way he carried himself made Blaze’s chest tighten. There was a weight there—a quiet hurt he recognized too well. Blaze kept his pace even as he approached, though a quiet urgency clung to his steps. He let out a low chuff, just loud enough to catch Niko’s ear without drawing attention from nearby wolves. “There you are,” he said softly, his voice holding that familiar grounding tone that only Blaze could offer. “I was about to come looking.”

He stopped a few paces away, eyes scanning Niko’s face, searching for signs of what he wasn’t saying. He could see it plain as day—how the boy tried to disappear into the background. How he clung to his silence like a shield. Blaze gave a small nod of respect to Nanuq before stepping closer to Niko. “Can we walk? Just the two of us.” His ears tilted back slightly, not in shame, but in the way a wolf humbles himself before someone he cares about. Blaze didn’t push for a response. He just sat down nearby, quiet and calm, waiting. Letting Niko choose the next step, as he always had.

River listened in silence, her gaze soft as the reddish male spoke. She didn’t interrupt—not when his words came with weight, not when guilt still clung like frost to his shoulders. When he looked away toward the others, she followed his line of sight for a moment, letting the quiet settle. Then, with a small nod, she looked back to him. “It’s not dumb,” she said gently, her voice calm and even. “It means you cared. That kind of guilt... it’s the cost of loving your pack.” Her ears tipped slightly to the side. “But you’re right. It was an avalanche. You didn’t cause it, and no one could’ve stopped it.”

She stepped a little closer, enough for her tail to just barely brush his as she sat down. “The fact that you wanted to save them means something. Even if you couldn’t.” River’s attention drifted to Willow for a heartbeat, watching how the younger female processed everything. “We’re all trying to find our footing again,” she said, glancing between the two. “Even the ones who butt heads more than they should.” Her words were light, tinged with a small, knowing smile.

Then her eyes turned toward Willow again. “And that’s why having a lead fighter matters. Someone strong enough to fight for us, smart enough to lead, and steady enough not to break under pressure.” She gave a soft breath, thoughtful. “Blaze isn’t perfect—but none of us are. What matters is that he stands with us, even when things get hard.” She let the quiet return for a moment before adding, more softly, “We’ve lost a lot. But we still have each other. That has to count for something.”

River’s gaze lingered on both wolves—gentle, steady, present. Always the grounding presence in the storm. The kind of wolf who reminded others that even broken hearts could keep a pack strong.

Dante

Tagged: Emmy, Koa

The ebony brute sighed with dismay, tilting his head patiently, clearly unaffected by the point She-who-speaks-with-plants was trying to make. ‘Hmmm, that was most certainly a threat. Disguised as a jest cloaked with kindness and warmth.’ He’d already made it clear he did not have the will or the want to so sow webs of discourse nor was he in a position to do so, his injuries limited his capabilities to nothing more than lounging around like a big dilapidated rock. So forcibly taking control was already out of the question not that he had anything to gain by trying any way. Spreading influence though was easy and he would succeed by speaking or even by simply thinking. For now the only thing his influence needed to do was prove he was approachable and could be reasoned with about subject matters that were normally discussed in privacy. Dante’s purpose if anything was not conflict, but believe it or not, resolution to previous wrongdoing that had occurred before and during Liberty’s reign as formal blunderer.

‘Your words are wind child…wasted.’ He pondered for a moment taking this silence to organize his thoughts to choose his words wisely. He did take notice of her gaze resting on him observantly as if attempting to gauge what his reaction may be, Dante could see the turmoil that twisted behind She-who-speaks-with-plants eye’s. ‘Weak, vulnerable, completely aware of my situation and Oh so pitifully at your mercy, remind your self that…do not fear me.’

“What a self indulgent insinuation.” he said dropping his maw low sneering his eyes forming half moons as if stopping himself from chortling, “From my perspective sweetling it’s often those who claim indifference to reputation that are the most meticulous architects of its destruction... especially when others are involved.” His mouth twisted in disgust “Stuck? ” Dante said incredulously his neck recoiling, ears flattened and nose wrinkled. “I find myself in quite the advantageous position right in the heart of things, wouldn't you agree? It offers such a... unique vantage point to observe and, shall we say, influence the unfolding events in this quaint camp. Perhaps you should not overestimate your mind before going out into the bigger world to find it bruised. Keep what you have now sweetling, it is an intoxicating innocence.” He finished with tones of silk and ice. Dante knew Destiny would show great favor to the Redmoon Pack upon his returning to home, he knew that to some capacity peace was the ultimate reason why Nova had not commanded Blaze to give Dante a permanent rest, with all of this evidence what truly did Dante have to worry about? Not Nova. Not Blaze. And most certainly not threats from some adolescent healer, with a limited understanding of the world.

——

His gaze, he knew, could be intense. It was a tool, honed by years of assessing threats and maintaining order. If it made her shift uncomfortably, so be it. Truth often held a sharp edge. “Yes, bumped..” he slowly uncrossed his paws then recrossed them the opposite way, “But I can assure you it was no clumsy mishap shared between children. No..Duty sometimes demands a physical toll.” The notion that it was similar to some child’s farce was absurd, but he allowed her the small victory. Her subsequent remark about his presence amongst the healers was a logical observation. Her words while coated with amusment, Dante was able to grasp the underlying insult beneath each of them, this realization gave him pause, this was no light banter for fun nor was it for passing the time, No, Dante began to wonder if this banter was for she-who-speaks-with-plants to gauge just where Dante believed he stood. Which right now wasn’t at all, looking up from a lying position all he could see were the chins of his antagonizers and harassers. So he didn’t stand above them right now like he normally would not that seeing him low at the moment would make them think any differently about him. Justifiably so. He’d given them all the evidence they need to draw conclusions that he would continue to speak in a ‘full of himself fashion’ until they gave up on him or simply just performed their duties and left. Looking in from the outside he knew it probably just sounded like he gave himself up that he’s watching and observing , but what else was there to do? Even in the murky dampness of the healers den he could still hear the voices around make conversation, and see movement in the shadows that passed the entrance of the den. Each wolf looked different, walked different, sat around different and it is all reflected in their shadows they cast. Soon he may even begin coming up with names for his own entertainment.

Emmy's frank assessment of the swollen eye was appreciated. Dante had little patience for sugar-coated words. Koa's initial prognosis had been similar, and her confirmation offered a degree of reassurance, though he would reserve final judgment until a tangible notice in improvement. Her blunt inquiry, however expected, was less welcome because he did not believe that a retelling of the events could possibly benefit anything other than quelling some base form curiosity. While the question hung in the air a muscle twitched in his jaw. The details were complicated. Suffice it to say it was a consequence of duty, a necessary action taken to maintain the balance of Starlight territory. Explaining the intricacies to one outside the immediate decision-making felt unnecessary, perhaps even unwise.

Dante’s silence stretched for a moment, his gaze unwavering as he considered her. Finally, he offered a clipped response, voice low and devoid of unnecessary detail. “Well it most certainly wasn’t a child, nor was it a bear or a big cat, we wouldn’t be having this conversation if it were, No no…I’d say the individual who rattled my skull for me was about….” Dante paused for a moment narrowing his eyes for dramatic effect, “Blaze size, and Blaze shaped, all black and grey. Bushy fellow. Yellow eyes. And probably the ugliest face I’ve ever seen. I’d say he took issue with where I was at the time and decided to let me know it. We fought, but he did not win, it’s funny how I thought I might seem him here among yours all wounded and what not. A simple territorial dispute that was handled. Anyway, anyone seen a grumpy, fluffy, yellow-eyed wolf with a serious personal space issue limping around? Asking for a friend… mostly myself.” he expressed nonchalantly while looking over to the entrance of the den to acknowledge the presence of Koa who had just entered to have an inquiry with she who speaks with plants.
