Five close friends attempt to return home from a vacation together, but the car ends up breaking down near the seafront town of Tidecrest Coast - where they've never been before and honestly didn't realise was there. Fortunately, the mechanic of the town is able to tow them into town, but upon inspection of the car, finds that the parts needed to fix the car will take a couple of weeks to actually be delivered. Still a few hours from home, and a reluctance to abandon the car, the group are stuck in the town for a while.
The mechanic, friends with the owners of a hotel, is able to get the group rooms for the duration of their unexpected stay, and the hotel owners also offer access to their laundry facilities and breakfast.

As the group explore the town, they find that it seems to be directly out of a Hallmark movie. Overly-friendly townspeople, almost every shop has some form of niche, quaint premise, and it seems everyone's minds are set on one thing - the Summer Festival.
It seems the townspeople are excited that their unexpected visitors will be in town for the Summer Festival, and they are encouraged to help with the preparations.

But something seems... very off. When one of the bakeries of the town suddenly closes and the owner is missing, no one in the town seems to remember them ever being there, the name of the owner and bakery being met with blank, confused reactions. And preparations for the Summer Festival are being sabotaged - from the stage lights being damaged overnight to decorations torn down - suspicions are placed on the group of five.
They'll have to team up with a few townspeople that believe them, clear their names and figure out just what is going on in the strange small town - or at least hope they can leave before anything much more drastic happens.

Tidecrest Coast

Postby Consulting_Angel » Sun Apr 13, 2025 11:47 am

This seafront town has a few miles of stunning beaches, with a clear-blue sea that seems to only exist in staged photos. The weather is typically clear, warm and sunny, with gentle breezes so it's never too hot - especially in the summer.

    The Pier
    - Stretching from the beach into the sea, the pier is lined with benches, as well as having several kiosks, that make it a great place to walk along and relax with a drink or a snack, while having a view of the whole beach.

    The Promenade
    - Situated on the edge of the beach, the promenade has rides, game booths, arcades machines, stalls and much more. It's like a permanent, larger, fair, and is always bustling with activity during its open hours.

    Grand View Hotel
    - One of a few family hotels in Tidecrest Coast, this is the one that the friend group is staying in. It's close to the promenade and less than a ten minute walk to where the Summer Festival is being held. Run by Mr. and Mrs. Sosa, with help from their two adult children.

    The Garage
    - More inland, with much of the rest of the shopping streets. The garage is run by just one mechanic, but considering most people don't actually need to drive anywhere that often, it suits them just fine.

    Cookies by Carla
    - A cute bakery owned by Carla Marshall, who makes all kinds of cookies. Carla is known for being a little different to most of the townspeople, seeming a bit more 'normal', which may not bode well for her.

    Outlook Bar
    - Next to the pier is the Outlook Bar, with both indoor and outdoor seating, this is a popular hang out spot for many that wish to chill.

    Embassy Theatre
    - This 250-seat theatre has a varied programme of shows, from tribute acts to touring shows to original inhouse works, an evening of entertainment it can certainly provide!

    Adventure Golf
    - An 18-hole mini golf course that has a vague pirate theme, with netting, bridges and a variety of obstacles and dΓ©cor to make you sort of feel like you're on an adventure.

    Miniport
    - A small river winds its way alongside the promenade, mini golf and beach, and under the pier, to a small grassy island that can be looped around and back to the port. Small, self-steered motorboats can transport you and three passengers along the river and back in just over 45 minutes.

    Plaza
    - This is where the Summer Festival is being held. A stage is being constructed for musical, comedy and other performances, and the rest of the area is being decorated with lights, bunting, balloon arches and more.

    Gym
    - A large fitness centre fitted out with lots of workout equipment and a big swimming pool, alongside having studios where various fitness classes take place.

    Rollerskate Rink
    - A basic roller rink. Roller derby practice takes place three evenings a week, with most other times it's open being a 'free skate' session.

    Skate Park
    - With ramps, slopes, rails and more, this is where the skaters of the town typically hang out, performing tricks and trying not to bite the concrete.

    - More locations to be added!

Character Roles

Postby Consulting_Angel » Sun Apr 13, 2025 11:50 am

You may have up to three characters! PM me to reserve, and all forms go into the discussion thread.

    - The Friend Group met in their first year of college/university, being assigned to the same apartment to live in together. Since then, they've had the fortune to want to live together for the rest of their time studying, and remain in close contact after graduation.

    The Friend Group

    The Driver
    - They own the broken down car, and is known to be the best driver out of everyone in the group. The car that is very much their baby. They aren't too keen about being stuck, but they won't leave their car behind just to get out of here.
    Hadley Keegan | Consulting_Angel

    The Navigator
    - In charge of directions, and perhaps the self-appointed 'leader' of the group, they help direct everyone where to go and what to do, especially in a crisis. They can usually be trusted to make a good decision, but this town may throw them for a loop.
    Reserved | baestille

    The Musician
    - A good taste for music, and knows what everyone else likes, so they can curate the perfect driving playlists. That, and they may know an instrument or two themselves... they just haven't performed for a crowd before and this Summer Festival may be an opportunity to do so.
    Name | User

    The Provider
    - Ensuring provisions of snacks, blankets and anything else that may be required on a multi-hour roadtrip are there, they can be relied on for just that. Organised and fair, they also find themselves to be a mediator if things get tense. Will they thrive in helping with the Summer Festival?
    Name | User

    The Fifth Wheel
    - Although the friend group have all been together for the same amount of time, they just can't help but sometimes feel a little detracted from the group. They don't have a particular role on roadtrips or vacations, and they want to be more involved. Perhaps being stuck in an odd town will finally allow them to shine the way they crave.
    Nicole "Nic" Beauchamp | Opossum

    The Townspeople

    The Mechanic
    - They do well for themselves as Tidecrest Coast's only mechanic, but anything more than a simple job can mean having to order parts that take a while to arrive. While they don't seem to notice anything strange about the town, perhaps five strangers will make them more aware of the odd goings-on that occur.
    Name | User

    The Sosa Children
    - The adult children of Mr. and Mrs. Sosa, who own the Grand View Hotel. They are excited to meet the five unexpected strangers, but something is definitely different about them to the typical tourists that they see. They help out at the hotel, but might they have dreams of doing something more? And will these five strangers help them to realise that?
    Name | User
    Name | User

    The Troublemaker
    - They are known around town for causing a little trouble, followed around by a classic entourage. An easy suspect for the true culprit of the sabotages, but are they just a red herring? And is there more to them than just being trouble around town? Perhaps these strangers about town will earn their respect and find out.
    Morgan Uzcatia | Consulting_Angel

    The Hopeless Romantic
    - Idealistic about romance, dreaming of a fairy-tale happy ending where they're swept off their feet, they have some ideas about romance that perhaps aren't quite realistic. But in a small, coastal town, surely anything is possible? Well, they certainly seem to think so, especially with five mysterious strangers suddenly being stuck in town.
    Name | User

    The Organiser
    - This is their first year in charge of organising the set up for the Summer Festival. With a small team of volunteers, they're a little (well, maybe a lot) stressed to make sure everything is set up in time for the opening evening. But with a couple of acts dropping out and volunteer numbers oddly a little lower this year, perhaps these five strangers could help them get things back on track?
    Name | User

    The Singer
    - With local (and regional) fame, they are the headline act for the Summer Festival. Everyone knows who they are, and they just can't seem to get away from the spotlight whenever they go outside. So it's a relief that the strangers in town don't seem to recognise them. But they can't quite help but notice that they do look eerily similar to The Fifth Wheel... with different hair and clothing style though, of course.
    Name | User

    The Director
    - The resident director for the Embassy Theatre's in-house productions, as well as heading the Summer Festival organisations. They are uptight and demand a lot from The Organiser, which just adds to their stress, and it doesn't help that the festival is short a couple of acts due to dropouts. Perhaps they could learn to be a bit less uptight and to give credit to the hard working efforts of The Organiser.
    Name | User

    The Mayor's Child
    - Expected to look and act a certain way, there's not much they can get away with without their father, the mayor of Tidecrest Coast, finding out about it. They have dreams about leaving the town and following their own dream, but can't ever quite pluck up the courage to just leave, and any conversation that even hints at it will be shut down. But they may find the inspiration to do so from the unexpected strangers in town.
