ylesia's questionnaire answers ✧
  1. When did you first join the Fables cult community?
I think the first fables I entered for was fable #11. I wasn't sure whether I wanted to join a closed species again (in the last years I joined many but I couldn't keep up with all of them) BUT that fable won me and... here I am past fable #180 and no sign of burn-out!
  2. Introduce us to your very first fable! (If you don’t have one yet, tell us about a fable character concept you have!)
Meet Iacuna, my beautiful first fable designed by ilya! It was a personality prompt and then I built her from that personality. She is reflective, direct but also cynical. Now she is a healer, she knows a lot of things but doesn't trust (almost) anyone. Her only "friendship" relationship is with Umina (designed by ilya again) but everyone is Umina's friend sooooo...
  3. How many fables have you collected? (Feel free to link your character storage/th if you want to show them off!)
6 and I have plans for number 7 (he doesn't exists yet, only in my mind)! I have a CS storage and a toyhouse one **new** (I still need to find a way to fit their image better in the code, maybe just the transparent ref would be better?)
  4. Do you prefer depicting your fables in humanized form, feral/traditional form, or a mix of both?
Feral only, I'm not fond of human characters, I see way too many humans in real life! /hj
  5. What are some of your favorite types of fable designs (natural, simple or complex, fantastical, picturesque, etc)?
Natural are my favourite especially if they are inspired by a real animal. But I also love non-natural, ahhhh I love them all!
  6. You probably have more, but share only three of your favorite fables owned by other players:
    - Mizuki, owned by ►Athena◄. I know I said I love natural designs BUT I love the colours here (And we planned a twin breeding with my Fenix)
    - This one by Vinson, owned by iskadeki. I-I didn't claim it in time [Insert sad gif here]
    - Caturix designed by Bezel, owned by BlueEyedKite. I couldn't speak for a couple of minutes when I saw them.
  7. Share an idea/scene/story concept you want to work on for your fable(s) but haven’t started yet:
I'd like to write more about Fenix. He is in a weird situation (He is immortal, and is reborn like a phoenix from his ashes) but he doesn't know that. I'd like to write a story where he dies and then is born again starting fresh. (He also forgets almost everything about his past life(s)).
  8. Do you have a favorite fable couple or pairing? Share your fable OTP!
Well... I do have a couple formed by Nimue and "Devon" but "Devon" is that fable #7 that is non existant yet. Nimue is the equivalent of a 25 year-old human while Devon comes from another time but when he died he was more or less the same age. He was a spirit for a long time and returned back to life... it's a long story... (void prompt here)
  9. Share your favorite *artist entry* fable design (can be made by you or another player!):
Well, my first claimed fable, Nereus, designed by molotov. Why, well, he is greyscale and I love greyscale + he's an hippocampus.
  10. What has been your favorite nursery - Autumn Haunting, Winterspell, or Spring Reverie? Why?
That's hard... I'd say Autumn Haunting because I love Autumn, but Winterspell was also sooo good.
  11. Share a few of your favorite fable traits (ears, tails, wings, etc):
    [redacted]
  12. What has been one of your favorite past adopt prompts? (locate the lost cats, two truths one lie, etc)
I love long writing prompts, reading the entries is super inspiring and we have some really talented writers here.
  13. Show us one of your favorite adopt entries you made or wrote for an adopt that you didn’t win:
This was hard but I'll show Haiku the poet. It's still a story I like, and some of his personality traits might go into Devon (Yes, I'm obsessed with Devon).
  14. Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature that you’ve made of your fable(s):
Since I'm not an artist I'm quite proud of baby Fenix here (and in my signature forever. I will never ever create something comparably good)
    Image
I also have a higher quality version but I'm lazy.
  15. Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature made by another player of their fable(s):
This is hard because we have talented writers and talented artist but I'll go with the series of Imogen+Grimshire by alphanea+molotov. I just love that demonic duo.
  16. Does your fable have a theme song/character playlist or another piece of media that reminds you of them?
Yes, each one of my fables has a theme song.
  17. What’s one of your favorite things about the fables species and/or community?
I love how we can develop things freely and the community we built (look at this questionnaire!)
  18. Do you have any big fable goals or aspirations that you’ve set (or already accomplished)?
I wanted to move them also on toyhouse and I did. Now, my goal is Devon. Yes, obsessed, I said it. I have no idea of how Devon will be, I'll know when I see him. (Me three years later still waiting for Devon...)
  19. What helps to inspire or motivate you to develop your fables and/or their world?
It's a creative work. I'm a physicist so I need to do something creative if I don't want to drown in my equations.
  20. What’s something about the species or community that you’re most excited about or are looking forward to?
The next Autumn nursery, I think it could be the place where I'll find Devon (...yes...)
  21. Where do your fables live? In a herd, a forest, a castle, a cottage, a big city? Why and how do they live there?
My world has a lot of environment but they are all natural. I have a forest, a beach, mountains, hills, rivers, a swamp, a plain and a desert. (No fables in plain and desert yet).
  22. Tell us about the magic in your fable’s world; are there rules regarding its use? Do all fables have the capacity for it?
Magic is a special gift from the Ancients and each fable has a unique gift. In my history there was a time when all fables had almost unlimited power but then some of them abused of it (hi Devon) and that privilege was revoked. Now fables acquire their gift when they are grown up and it fits with their personality. I have:
    - Iacuna. Can heal wounds.
    - Nereus. Can breath underwater. Magic happened when he was given gills and now he technically has no magical gift since his ability to breathe underwater is physical.
    - Everett. Can create sculptures from rocks. Very useful.
    - Umina. Can grow plants.
    - Fenix. Immortality (sort of).
    - Nimue. Can talk to the spirits.
  23. Tell us about some of the flora and fauna we might encounter while exploring your fable’s world:
There all the real animals that would live in the environment, same goes for the flora. And I started writing a Compendium on officinal herbs from Iacuna POV but I think it will stop there even though I might add something if I need a specific herb.
  24. Is there religion in your fable’s realm? What sort of deities reside there, and how are they worshipped?
No religion, but there are the Ancients that are real but considered by some just a legend. The Ancients are creatures and spirits that inhabit Draeridia since way longer than fables and the known ones are the Dragon, the Leviathan and the Crow. But there are others, these are the most relevant for the story.
  25. What are some holidays or common celebrations in your fable's world? How do they celebrate?
I-I didn't think about this yet...
  26. What do your fables commonly eat? What’s their favorite food or drink?
They are herbivores and eat things that are present in their environment.
  27. What kind of clothing or costume would your fable(s) wear?
No clothing, maybe just some accessories.
  28. Does your fable have any pets, familiars, or companion animals?
They have familiars. Familiars are not unique individuals but a species (or a group of species) that form a special bond with a fable. This bond is magical and reflect the relationship of fables with Nature. Familiars can be both animals or plants (Umina's familiar are eucalyptus trees!)
  29. If your fable was in a Dungeons & Dragons party, what would be their race/class?
    - Iacuna. Wizard.
    - Nereus. Bard. He would just distract the enemy with his chatter.
    - Everett. Bard. Same as above. Actually Nereus and Everett could be good friends... If only they didn't live on opposite sides of Draeridia.
    - Umina. Druid.
    - Fenix. Paladin.
    - Nimue. Sorcerer.
  30. Share a secret about your fable(s):
Sometimes Nimue ignores the spirits... she feels bad for that but unlike them she needs to sleep.

I haven't read any other answer yet but I promise I will. I'm sooooooo interested in everyone's lore!

      Butter Dragon's questionnaire answers ✧
      1. When did you first join the Fables cult community?
        December of last year!

      2. Introduce us to your very first fable! (If you don’t have one yet, tell us about a fable character concept you have!)
Image Timor was my first fable! In my world he is the deity of fear, though it's more a passive effect than anything active on his part. He actually is rather lonely since most people get growing anxiety just being in his presence so he stays away from others for the most part. Still, he interacts with humanity in the way that he can - wandering the ruins of their older cities.
      3. How many fables have you collected? (Feel free to link your character storage/th if you want to show them off!)
I have five currently! They and their lore can be found in my fable storage thread, The Low Heavens.
      4. Do you prefer depicting your fables in humanized form, feral/traditional form, or a mix of both?
My fables are able to go back and forth between human form and feral/fable form - the fable form is their "natural" form but it depends on the fable for how frequently I like to see them depicted as humans because some prefer it more than others! I also unfortunately only have an actual cannon human design for one of them (Timor) but I intend to change that as I am able!
      5. What are some of your favorite types of fable designs (natural, simple or complex, fantastical, picturesque, etc)?
Because all my fables are deities I like ones that spark an idea for me for a specific domain! It's hard to explain but O'roq, for example, immediately made me think of The Harvest.
      6. You probably have more, but share only three of your favorite fables owned by other players:
        I absolutely adore bezel's Chione, messmer's Elphael, and Woodchip's Ištaran (& Nirah)!
      7. Share an idea/scene/story concept you want to work on for your fable(s) but haven’t started yet:
I haven't properly written out lore for it, but I have eluded twice now to the forest in which my fables were created/spawned/whatever you wanna call it. I think this forest is special and forgotten and eventually I intend to write out its unique lore and place in the world!
      8. Do you have a favorite fable couple or pairing? Share your fable OTP!
I still need to develop their relationship properly but O'roq has an ongoing thing for whatever fable ends up becoming my "Winter" deity. I still need to work on their relationship more fully but there's some fun to be had there both as a cute couple and some drama surrounding it.
      9. Share your favorite *artist entry* fable design (can be made by you or another player!):
Ohh it's impossible to choose for sure but I think I'll go with wind song's third entry! Such an incredible idea and looks stunning!
      10. What has been your favorite nursery - Autumn Haunting, Winterspell, or Spring Reverie? Why?
I missed Autumn, so I can't comment on that one, but between Winter and Spring I preferred winter just for my own general preference of themes lining up more with winter than spring. :3
      11. Share a few of your favorite fable traits (ears, tails, wings, etc):
There's so many good ones but I think I gotta go with just any of the feathered wings, they look great on the base and as a sucker for drawing feathered wings myself I'm always pleased to have characters with them.
      12. What has been one of your favorite past adopt prompts? (locate the lost cats, two truths one lie, etc)
I loved the competition for #65! The exact wording of the prompt is gone now, but tldr it was effectively "choose an instrumental song I can listen to while I read about your fable & write about them. Give me a feel of who they are, their personality, etc."
      13. Show us one of your favorite adopt entries you made or wrote for an adopt that you didn’t win:
This might be cheating... But #65! I did not technically win, but I did get a runner up and I reused all of the lore I had written for the original adopt. And even if I hadn't won I would've still used it anyway for someone in the future! Unfortunately I have not had the time/energy to do a lot of bigger entries so that's the best I've got haha
      14. Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature that you’ve made of your fable(s):
I'm very pleased with the two prompts I wrote for this month's lore prompts!
      15. Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature made by another player of their fable(s):
Does it count to say the art bezel has on their storage thread of banners and such? It's not the fables themselves but I think it's really cool to have that world building visually!
      16. Does your fable have a theme song/character playlist or another piece of media that reminds you of them?
They all have theme songs! Unfortunately they are not all CS appropriate so I will not be sharing them here, but all my fables get theme songs :3
Only Saif is currently missing one, but I'm actively on the hunt!!
      17. What’s one of your favorite things about the fables species and/or community?
The community as a whole is wonderful, but I have to say my favorite thing is just how free they are lore wise. Usually I'm not fond of that in my closed species, but with fables I've had an incredible time building my own lore for them and I wouldn't trade it for the world!
      18. Do you have any big fable goals or aspirations that you’ve set (or already accomplished)?
I eventually want to get a fable to represent each of the seven deadly sins in my world! It's a theme that I've always enjoyed in media. So far we are 1/7 with Saif being the first - Greed.
      19. What helps to inspire or motivate you to develop your fables and/or their world?
I honestly don't have a great answer for this because recently I've just been driven by excitement for the world in general - no specific thing spurring me on to develop it!
      20. What’s something about the species or community that you’re most excited about or are looking forward to?
I hope to be more active in the discord server soon! I've had a lot going on in my life but I want to be a little more present there so I can enjoy being part of the community more!
      21. Where do your fables live? In a herd, a forest, a castle, a cottage, a big city? Why and how do they live there?
Each of them is different! Of the ones I currently have Timor and O'roq both technically have secluded homes but travel more often than not, Nothing lives [redacted], and Saif lives in an overly opulent palace in a mortal city!
      22. Tell us about the magic in your fable’s world; are there rules regarding its use? Do all fables have the capacity for it?
The majority of my world is made up of humans, with fables being deities/demigods/nymphs etc. Fable's powers are all different and depend on whatever their "domain" is!
      23. Tell us about some of the flora and fauna we might encounter while exploring your fable’s world:
I unfortunately really haven't touched this part of world building at all so... I'll get back to you later!
      24. Is there religion in your fable’s realm? What sort of deities reside there, and how are they worshipped?
As the above answers show, the fables *are* the deities! They are worshiped in various ways and to various degrees, more so as concepts than their actual personhood. Like someone is more inclined to worship "The Harvest" than "O'roq" whose domain the harvest is. Other than that though? Still needs fleshing out.
      25. What are some holidays or common celebrations in your fable's world? How do they celebrate?
        Likewise woefully underdeveloped - this will probably have to be lower on my list of world building to be honest as I have so much more already on the agenda. ;w;
      26. What do your fables commonly eat? What’s their favorite food or drink?
I think, theoretically, the fables do not have to eat so it all comes down to their preferences and what's around. If no one else, Saif would certainly have quite a taste for luxurious and expensive foods. O'roq is also probably fond of feats in general as they are sometimes used to celebrate the harvest, but that's less about the food than the meaning behind it.
      27. What kind of clothing or costume would your fable(s) wear?
Actively working on that! I think Timor, Shiloh, and Nothing probably wear minimal to no clothes/accessories in their fable forms, O'roq probably has an outfit but a simple if not subtly fancy one, and Saif already got a visit from the fable tailor! Their human forms are still up in the air though.
      28. Does your fable have any pets, familiars, or companion animals?
Not currently! I intend for some to, but none of the ones I currently have do.
      29. If your fable was in a Dungeons & Dragons party, what would be their race/class?
Now this is my kind of question...
        O'roq - Human Monk
        Timor - Elf Rogue
        Shiloh - Genasi Sorcerer
        Nothing - Tiefling Sorcerer
        Saif - Tiefling Warlock
      30. Share a secret about your fable(s):
Nothing has met with Timor many a time, but Timor has forgotten most of these occasions due to Nothing's intervention. Truly, Nothing's existence in and of itself is a secret...

fev's questionnaire answers ✧
  1. When did you first join the Fables cult community?
i found fables in october when bezel posted the trait suggestion semi-custom contest, just before adopt #1 was posted :''D and i was hired as an artist a few weeks later in november!

  2. Introduce us to your very first fable! (If you don’t have one yet, tell us about a fable character concept you have!)
pomona!! my grumpy woman who lives on an apple orchard <3

  3. How many fables have you collected? (Feel free to link your character storage/th if you want to show them off!)
i've got 7! i feel so so lucky to have them all. their names are irissë, aella, leona, pomona, moira, sylvaine, and renāte !! (here's my storage)

Image Image Image Image Image Image Image

  4. Do you prefer depicting your fables in humanized form, feral/traditional form, or a mix of both?
    definitely feral!

  5. What are some of your favorite types of fable designs (natural, simple or complex, fantastical, picturesque, etc)?
i loveee fables based on natural animal designs with some sort of unnatural accent colour/design <3

  6. You probably have more, but share only three of your favorite fables owned by other players:
ohhhh boy this was a difficult pick. i'll go with hellevi's kvitka, northstar.'s delune, and jochedo's elias!

    Image Image Image

  7. Share an idea/scene/story concept you want to work on for your fable(s) but haven’t started yet:
moira is a weaver who crafts intricate tapestries and cloaks for noble families - once i find the right fable, i'd love to do a plotline of a certain noble developing a bit of a crush on her and just commissioning her over and over despite running out of room for all the pieces, just so they have an excuse to keep talking to her :'3

  8. Do you have a favorite fable couple or pairing? Share your fable OTP!
pomona x struma is so special to me even though they're no longer together and were definitely pretty toxic HGFGHJ

  9. Share your favorite *artist entry* fable design (can be made by you or another player!):
it's gotta be this one by snowflakette

    Image

  10. What has been your favorite nursery - Autumn Haunting, Winterspell, or Spring Reverie? Why?
spring reverie!!! i am such a sucker for the colour pink, insects, and floral themes so it's been incredible to see so far <3

  11. Share a few of your favorite fable traits (ears, tails, wings, etc):
gonna choose a few of my favourites from each category
      base - bouquet, overgrown, tempest
horns - large antlers, small velvet, crown antlers
wings - cicada, medium folded, round
      ears - deer, jackal, soft
tails - deer 2, bouquet, tempest
  12. What has been one of your favorite past adopt prompts? (locate the lost cats, two truths one lie, etc)
i loved the locate the cats prompt, as well as the prompt that had us choose what the fable would buy from a market!

  13. Show us one of your favorite adopt entries you made or wrote for an adopt that you didn’t win:
another prompt i had a lot of fun with was the schedule designing prompt, so i'll go with that one!!

  14. Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature that you’ve made of your fable(s):
i drew this bust that i like quite a lot as part of my ticket waive for renāte! :] (click for full size)

    Image

  15. Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature made by another player of their fable(s):
i loved this piece by bezel of their fable abbon!! something about it is sooo mesermizing

  16. Does your fable have a theme song/character playlist or another piece of media that reminds you of them?
not yet!! but this does make me feel inspired to start picking out some theme songs for each of my fables ^^

  17. What’s one of your favorite things about the fables species and/or community?
how talented everyone is! i've seen some of the most amazing art and writing ever come out of this community :] <3

  18. Do you have any big fable goals or aspirations that you’ve set (or already accomplished)?
i would love to get all of my fables' profile codes fully filled out!! it'll just take a lot of writing :'D

  19. What helps to inspire or motivate you to develop your fables and/or their world?
talking with my friends about it!! my fables worldbuilding project is shared with a few pals (hi ky and knick and court and eth) and our brainstorming sessions have been SO much fun <3 ily guys

  20. What’s something about the species or community that you’re most excited about or are looking forward to?
prospective future nursery themes are so fun to think about!! i'm very excited to see what bezel cooks up for a summer theme!

  21. Where do your fables live? In a herd, a forest, a castle, a cottage, a big city? Why and how do they live there?
in a big ol magical world called faerendell!! here's a map. it's pretty expansive since my friends and i wanted a lot of space to work with because we have so many people sharing it! ^^

  22. Tell us about the magic in your fable’s world; are there rules regarding its use? Do all fables have the capacity for it?
all fables possess an innate magic, though some are much stronger or much weaker than others! a fable usually has a specific type of magic they are naturally suited for, though they are able to train and improve their abilities in other types. it's a lot like working out a certain muscle, but some fables have a natural advantage or disadvantage. examples of types of magic include elemental, animacy, necromancy, illusions, and aura manipulation!

  23. Tell us about some of the flora and fauna we might encounter while exploring your fable’s world:
the main forms of fauna are sprites (wild creatures formed from natural materials, such as woodhorses, lightfoxes, and waxbees) and constructs (very controversial fable-made imitations of naturally-formed sprites)

  24. Is there religion in your fable’s realm? What sort of deities reside there, and how are they worshipped?
no deities - there's plenty of spiritual beliefs tied to the natural world, though. house soloron believes very strongly in astrology, and house virellian places deep spiritual importance on the nyvlanor forest, for example!

  25. What are some holidays or common celebrations in your fable's world? How do they celebrate?
there are complete solar eclipses biannually, where one of the twin moons (oresa and lyrea) cover the sun for the majority of the day. these days are recognized as times of rest, meant for spending quality time with loved ones indoors <3

  26. What do your fables commonly eat? What’s their favorite food or drink?
berries, fruit, veggies, baked goods, etc! they're herbivores but they get creative

  27. What kind of clothing or costume would your fable(s) wear?
no traditional clothes like shirts or pants, though plenty of fables (especially nobles) accessorize with intricate silks or jewellery!

  28. Does your fable have any pets, familiars, or companion animals?
sprites are the closest thing they have to pets, but it's more mutual bond that ownership - my fable moira has a sakura-fawn :]

  29. If your fable was in a Dungeons & Dragons party, what would be their race/class?
i'm not very knowledgable about d&d but i gave this my best shot!!
      irissë - elf cleric
      aella - halfling rogue
      leona - tiefling druid
      pomona - human ranger
      moira - elf paladin
      sylvaine - human bard
      renāte - tiefling cleric
  30. Share a secret about your fable(s):
none that i can think of :'D i'll come back and edit this if i do think of something

    squeegi's questionnaire answers ✧
    1. When did you first join the Fables cult community?
i think right around the time when bezel was asking for suggestions for traits! when the thread first got posted :] the first fable i tried out for was #3!
    2. Introduce us to your very first fable! (If you don’t have one yet, tell us about a fable character concept you have!)
chantilly !! she was from the winterspell nursery, and i love how molotov used the inspo pic and incorporated the porcelian patterns into the fur<3 she is something of an overthinker, and is often bashful or unsure of how to engage in conversation. she just like me fr</3
    3. How many fables have you collected? (Feel free to link your character storage/th if you want to show them off!)
3 so far, with another on the way from the spring nursery !!! here is my storage<3
    4. Do you prefer depicting your fables in humanized form, feral/traditional form, or a mix of both?
probably human, just because i have so much fun figuring out their outfits and how to incorporate their coat designs into their human form. its like playing with dress-up dolls hahaha
    5. What are some of your favorite types of fable designs (natural, simple or complex, fantastical, picturesque, etc)?
the most recent cat fables by bezel have my HEART, i love when fables take inspiration from real animals! i like a mix of natural and unnatural designs though, both are great!
    6. Do you have a favorite fable couple or pairing? Share your fable OTP!
not atm, though i have seen a few pairings shared in the discord and i have to say i love seeing kite's cian and bezel's kleo around in the community<3
    7. You probably have more, but share only three of your favorite fables owned by other players:
nanorat's rufus, messmer's wonder, and ghostqueen's fable 178. wonder is honestly one of my all time faves, the color palette, long hair, wings, tail, and horn, GAH its so perfect !!!! and rufus is so well designed, the folded wings lines look amazing, and i love the hair edits as well!!! and ofc 178 is just adorable, the cat fables have my heart <33
    8. Share your favorite *artist entry* fable design (can be made by you or another player!):
this artist entry by saltybirb is so cute!! the accessories are so well done, and i love the edits<3
    9. What has been your favorite nursery - Autumn Haunting, Winterspell, or Spring Reverie? Why?
i am in love with the spring traits, the moth wings and the velvet horns are so adorable!
    10. Share a few of your favorite fable traits (ears, tails, wings, etc):
i adore the large folded wings, overgrown base, long feathered tail, velvet antlers, and pond base!
    11. What’s one of your favorite things about the fables species and/or community?
everyone is so active and supportive, i love seeing everyone's interpretations of fables in their lore and art. there are so many talented artists in the community!! i also love how easy it is to get into fables, the lore prompts, voucher tickets, and nursery give so many opportunities to get a fable, which i love!
    12. Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature that you’ve made of your fable(s):
ive only done 2 pieces so far so i would have to say this piece of my fable thursday in his human form! i had a ton of fun with the sheep fur :]
      Image
    13. Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature made by another player of their fable(s):
this piece that alphanea did- its absolutely STUNNING, the pose and the rendering is so so so out of this world, i absolutely adore it!!

[Exitium]'s questionnaire answers ✧
  1. When did you first join the Fables cult community?
With the very end of the Winterspell Nursery! (So early 2025)
  2. Introduce us to your very first fable! (If you don’t have one yet, tell us about a fable character concept you have!)
    Here's my first lad, Kenneth
  3. How many fables have you collected? (Feel free to link your character storage/th if you want to show them off!)
I have four currently, with a fifth in progress via someone remaking my artist entry c: Fable Storage
  4. Do you prefer depicting your fables in humanized form, feral/traditional form, or a mix of both?
Both! They all have human forms at the same time as fable forms in my world, so they can choose when and where to change forms.
  5. What are some of your favorite types of fable designs (natural, simple or complex, fantastical, picturesque, etc)?
Fantastical and complex are my favorite types of fable designs, even if I can't draw them myself easily haha.
  6. You probably have more, but share only three of your favorite fables owned by other players:
    1 2 and 3
  7. Share an idea/scene/story concept you want to work on for your fable(s) but haven’t started yet:
I'm working on incorporating different biomes for my fables to live and possibly work in, but haven't done so beyond one biome yet that only demon fables can traverse without safety equipment.
  8. Do you have a favorite fable couple or pairing? Share your fable OTP!
My favorite couple would be my Kenneth and Haze. They're just so cute together, and a match made in heaven! I'm not sure if I have an OTP for someone else's fables yet.
  9. Share your favorite *artist entry* fable design (can be made by you or another player!):
Porcelain kintsugi is my absolute favorite artist entry fable, besides my Haze by certified.
  10. What has been your favorite nursery - Autumn Haunting, Winterspell, or Spring Reverie? Why?
Winterspell! This is because I joined smack at the end of it, and got my first fable- Kenneth by Ilya. It'll always be my favorite, no matter how much I adore the Spring Reverie traits.
  11. Share a few of your favorite fable traits (ears, tails, wings, etc):
Kelpie is my absolute favorite trait, along with Moth and Butterfly Wings. Jackal ears are my favorite, and the leafy antlers have me weak in the knees.
  12. What has been one of your favorite past adopt prompts? (locate the lost cats, two truths one lie, etc)
Silly and lore prompts are my favorite besides PYOP prompts!
  13. Show us one of your favorite adopt entries you made or wrote for an adopt that you didn’t win:
Entry. Even if I didn't win, I had fun having to choose an image that I thought would fit. Plus I still adore the fable.
  14. Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature that you’ve made of your fable(s):
    Haiku for Kenneth-
    Pleasant gentle mint
    Soft natural elegance
    Whisper on the wind
  15. Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature made by another player of their fable(s):
Birdsong by bezel is just gorgeous. There's other pieces by bezel in the discord I would link, but it'd be unfair to those in the community without discord.
  16. Does your fable have a theme song/character playlist or another piece of media that reminds you of them?
All of my fables have playlists and theme songs, but I've never thought about other pieces of media before!
  17. What’s one of your favorite things about the fables species and/or community?
Everyone in the community is so dang sweet, always willing to help out with ideas and lore, or art, etc. Also the species as a whole is just to die for with how many premade traits there are just for the artist entries alone!
  18. Do you have any big fable goals or aspirations that you’ve set (or already accomplished)?
I've already accomplished my main four fable acquisitions, so I suppose my next one would just be to continue gathering fables for the world in other areas, even if they aren't set to interact with the main four I have.
  19. What helps to inspire or motivate you to develop your fables and/or their world?
Seeing everyone being so creative in the discord and here in the fanclub certainly helps motivate me!
  20. What’s something about the species or community that you’re most excited about or are looking forward to?
Just seeing more people get their first fable, honestly! It brings me so much joy.
  21. Where do your fables live? In a herd, a forest, a castle, a cottage, a big city? Why and how do they live there?
All my fables live wherever they choose! Since they have both fable and human forms, they choose big cities, solitary wood cottages, etc. The only difference is, their homes are gigantic to accommodate for their fable forms, if they live outside the big cities.
  22. Tell us about the magic in your fable’s world; are there rules regarding its use? Do all fables have the capacity for it?
So most fables don't have active magic in my world besides the current demon fables who sometimes come from the Underworld to roam the lands of Prismatica, BUT some do in fact have and use magic. It's mainly those really connected to nature and its practices.
  23. Tell us about some of the flora and fauna we might encounter while exploring your fable’s world:
So there's many planned biomes, with some existing like those on our planet earth, but there's also biomes I've created, like the shade biome! This isn't a safe biome, filled with poisonous plants and sludge like waters, trees of bone, etc. Animals like those on our planet exist, but some mythical creatures exist as well in their own hard to reach areas of Prismatica, like Enfield and Phoenixes.
  24. Is there religion in your fable’s realm? What sort of deities reside there, and how are they worshipped?
On Prismatica, the fables worship the land, heavens, and Underworld freely. It is not frowned upon to not practice, but it is frowned upon to disrespect or downright disbelieve in the existence of Mother Magic and the Demon fables. Worship is done by practicing nature preserving habits, sending away fables to the promised land for demon fables to collect their souls upon reaching their end cycle, and just giving thanks to specific fables mentioned in history books.
  25. What are some holidays or common celebrations in your fable's world? How do they celebrate?
Holidays are a bit different in Prismatica than our world, considering they haven't gone through the same things we have to need those holidays. Holidays are usually days of birth, the honor days of Mother Magic in the autumn, and general celebrations of magic and fruitful existence.
  26. What do your fables commonly eat? What’s their favorite food or drink?
It depends on if they're in their human form or fable form! They can eat and drink nearly anything in Prismatica in human form, whilst in fable form, they mainly consume natural crops and drink natural herbal substances or water.
  27. What kind of clothing or costume would your fable(s) wear?
If in fable form, definitely anything related to their career. General protective clothing, to be clear. If in human form, they can go all out. Kenneth, for example, is a model off the clock, and wears faux fur coats, sunglasses, and silk.
  28. Does your fable have any pets, familiars, or companion animals?
Kenneth and Haze keep chickens as companions! They are equal level, and their intelligence is appreciated by Haze, along with the gift of their wonderful eggs as food. Asmodeus has two familiars, which I won't reveal just yet.
  29. If your fable was in a Dungeons & Dragons party, what would be their race/class?
Kenneth would so be a bard elf. Haze would be a tiefling druid. Asmodeus would be a demon wizard. Mikhail would be a homebrew race, and probably a druid as well.
  30. Share a secret about your fable(s):
My fables all secretly have magic, they just don't know it (yet)

    more traits!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. Where do your fables live? In a herd, a forest, a castle, a cottage, a big city? Why and how do they live there?
i'm copy and pasting what i wrote for an adopt entry once because i don't feel like rewriting it :p
Gilverûn -- a realm spliced through an enchanted forest, nestled in the depths of earth that are near impossible to find. the greenery ebbs and flows, changing itself in order to protect the kingdom within. only when a specific path is followed can someone from the outside reach Gilverûn -- one wrong step, and the traveler will become lost amongst the mutating woods and find themselves at the very entrance of the forest once more.

aren (spring), ebbin (summer), valin (fall), and kovarlin (winter) are the seasonal kingdoms that unite to create the fable nation of Gilverûn. each nation has one inhabitant that acts as the leader: a figurehead to make decisions for the greater good of the colony, meeting with other members of the council once a month for discussion. and then there is The Guardian: in its state of dormancy, it occupies a large tree that stands tall at the center of the council's monthly rendezvous, absorbing information. only upon disruption within the forest or Gilverûn is The Guardian summoned in a physical form at said meetings. without a solid, earthly form, The Guardian often chooses to appear in the form of a fable when it is necessary to communicate with the council.

in this enchanted forest, The Guardian has curated the land to be prosperous to the fable colony that inhabits it. it has no set name, no solid appearance, and yet it is simultaneously the overseer of the land as much as it is the land itself.

  22. Tell us about the magic in your fable’s world; are there rules regarding its use? Do all fables have the capacity for it?
i don't think we've thought this far i will not lie

  23. Tell us about some of the flora and fauna we might encounter while exploring your fable’s world:
    coming soon!

  24. Is there religion in your fable’s realm? What sort of deities reside there, and how are they worshipped?
there is no religion (yet) but The Guardian acts as the deity essentially

this was so much fun -- thanks for creating this cool questionnaire and giving me something to do while i was bored at work!!! i've been enjoying reading everyone else's answers as well

Oat's questionnaire answers ✧
  1. When did you first join the Fables cult community?
I marked the front page here before the first fable was put out. I always call kite my cs Paul Revere because she always keeps me in the loop with the happenings while i am stuck at work.

  2. Introduce us to your very first fable! (If you don’t have one yet, tell us about a fable character concept you have!)
This is Bishop! I watched Aliens (1986) for the first time the night before he was posted which is how I chose his name. He grew up in a poor ship port town called Doveport. He always wanted to go to college but his parents never would have been able to afford to send him. By chance, he meets the retired chair of the Celestial Navigation department who takes Bishop under his wing and mentors him. He currently works on a pirate ship as the right hand of his childhood best friend Victory.

  3. How many fables have you collected? (Feel free to link your character storage/th if you want to show them off!)
My TH has them all, I've started laying out code for 3 but have not finished them all yet so this is still a huge WIP of mine.

  4. Do you prefer depicting your fables in humanized form, feral/traditional form, or a mix of both?
I've always developed my ocs with human forms through writing, but only recently have felt comfortable enough to draw human art! I love their feral forms so much but I have a hard time drawing horses/deer so I'm glad I can draw them in a different way! With Hawthorne specifically I actually plan to develop him as human and feral as he was human before he was possessed by the spirits of the marsh.

  5. Everyone on the fable team is SUPER TALENTED but who is your favorite artist/designer?
All of the artists are incredibly talented, we are all truly lucky to have all of them on the team! obviously for very personal reasons cert and kett are my faves (i will literally follow yall to any species until the end of time) <3

  6. You probably have more, but share only three of your favorite fables owned by other players:
this was legit one of the hardest decisions i've ever had to make but 1 , 2 , 3

  7. Share an idea/scene/story concept you want to work on for your fable(s) but haven’t started yet:
there are literally so many of these i could talk about because my mind drowns in half baked ideas. in terms of art i want to make fullbody human reference sheets for all of my fables. in terms of writing, i really need to start on the next lore prompts. ravyn gets a sleeping potion stolen from him and has way more of an adverse reaction that one might suspect unless you know more about him.

  8. Do you have a favorite fable couple or pairing? Share your fable OTP!
Takes the biggest and deepest breath the OG OTP is Bishop x Jules. They are Brutus and Julius Caesar inspired (iykyk) rivals to lovers to...well... Bishop is the IT man of the pirate ship until Jules joins the crew and so effortlessly steals all the attention away from him. Born to a rich city family and able to do easily do everything Bishop struggled for, the navigator holds a grudge over someone he refuses to get to know.

My current fixation though has to be what we affectionately call The Throuple. Eryxus x Victory x Ravyn. The sparknotes version of their relationship goes as follows: Eryxus and Victory meet at Kite's winter ball and fall in loooove. She lives on the pirate ship and her and Victory date but after a while the two of them mutually decide to break it off. Except, that love still burns bright on both sides. About two years later, Ravyn is hired on the ship to spy on Victory, causing a lot of contention between himself, Victory, and Eryxus (who still comes to visit the crew from time to time). Eventually, Victory and Ravyn come to a mutual understanding which leads them to growing closer and developing feelings for each other. But Victory isn't over his feelings for Eryxus and he doesn't communicate that with Ravyn. A lot of feelings wind up getting hurt on all sides (but lets face it, it's mostly Victory's fault). But then we learn that being adults and talking about our feelings get us places. Ravyn and Eryxus also finally admit their feelings of hate for each other was totally just tension and they all live happily ever after. (i swear there is a lot that happens i skipped over here for sake of keeping this as short as i could!)

  9. Share your favorite *artist entry* fable design (can be made by you or another player!):
alphanea's artist entry here is one of the coolest concepts i've ever seen! i think about this fable a lot!

  10. What has been your favorite nursery - Autumn Haunting, Winterspell, or Spring Reverie? Why?
i dont think i have a favorite of the three, all three brought new traits that i loved so much! i will say i did not get the chance to participate in the fall nursery so i am most excited for the second round of that later this year!

  11. Share a few of your favorite fable traits (ears, tails, wings, etc):
shouts from the top of a mountain MEDIUM GOAT HORNS, short curly and sheep bases, tattered wings

  12. What has been one of your favorite past adopt prompts? (locate the lost cats, two truths one lie, etc)
lost cats was so fun, even if i was clocked in at work and trying not to get in trouble for using my phone XD

  13. Show us one of your favorite adopt entries you made or wrote for an adopt that you didn’t win:
    Victory's concept originated here!

  14. Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature that you’ve made of your fable(s):
    Image (i spent 10 hours on this...woof)

  15. Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature made by another player of their fable(s):
Kite's winter ball story was such a feat and I'm so proud of her for completing a story with so many of our characters featured!!

  16. Does your fable have a theme song/character playlist or another piece of media that reminds you of them?
some of the songs are not cs safe so i cant share links to the playlists but Bishop x Jules have a 4 hour long playlist called Gay Little Pirates and The Throuple has an almost 7 hour long playlist that cert and I collab on. I'll share one safe theme song for each of them quickly!

Bishop: The Winner Takes It All - ABBA
Jules: The World We Knew -Frank Sinatra
Victory: Sun Bleached Flies - Ethel Cain
Ravyn: This Is Me Trying - Taylor Swift
    Hawthorne: 15 Step - Radiohead

  17. What’s one of your favorite things about the fables species and/or community?
I know a few people have already said this, but Fables really encourages people to develop their characters and share their lore with the community. I’ve typically felt like an outsider in some species where this isn’t very common. I feel like everyone wants to know what our ideas are and we thrive off of bouncing ideas off of each other. This is truly the nicest community to be part of.

  18. Do you have any big fable goals or aspirations that you’ve set (or already accomplished)?
I really want to learn how to animate! It…thoroughly intimidates me but I would love to be able to make an amv and share it with everyone at some point :)

  19. What helps to inspire or motivate you to develop your fables and/or their world?
I listen to music to help inspire me for fables! It’s often I will get ideas for characters or specific pieces of their development from the lyrics of a song. Lore prompts also is probably the thing that motivates me the most. I’ve always been too intimated to join ARPGs but having a month to answer prompts and think about the world I am building has really helped push me through art and writing blocks!

  20. What’s something about the species or community that you’re most excited about or are looking forward to?
Kite is cooking up a group roleplay that I am just itching to dive into!

  21. Where do your fables live? In a herd, a forest, a castle, a cottage, a big city? Why and how do they live there?
Everyone but Hawthorne lives in Victory’s ship. They’re very busy pirates so they don’t typically have the time to stay anywhere on land. Hawthorne lives…in the marsh…he’s kinda permanently stuck there lol

  22. Tell us about the magic in your fable’s world; are there rules regarding its use? Do all fables have the capacity for it?
The only fable I own that can use magic is Hawthorne! Victory is cursed but he cannot wield magic.

  23. Tell us about some of the flora and fauna we might encounter while exploring your fable’s world:
Linking my lore prompts post here!

  24. Is there religion in your fable’s realm? What sort of deities reside there, and how are they worshipped?
I have not thought about this actually! I will have to give this some more thought!

  25. What are some holidays or common celebrations in your fable's world? How do they celebrate?
Something else I need to work on!

  26. What do your fables commonly eat? What’s their favorite food or drink?
    Bishop: Shepard’s Pie and Beer
Jules: Smoked Salmon and Ginger Tea
Victory: Cheese with Fresh Bread and Whiskey
    Ravyn: Roast Duck and Wine
    Hawthorne: doesn’t eat

  27. What kind of clothing or costume would your fable(s) wear?
Medieval inspired clothing! Lots of layers and fabric types!

  28. Does your fable have any pets, familiars, or companion animals?
Victory grew up with a hound dog named Ranger!

  29. If your fable was in a Dungeons & Dragons party, what would be their race/class?
    Bishop: Ranger Human
    Jules: Cleric Aasimar
    Victory: Paladin Tiefling
    Ravyn: Rogue Elf
    Hawthorne: Druid Half Elf

  30. Share a secret about your fable(s):
There is in fact a way to break Victory’s curse, but when they find the solution, not everyone will agree to move forward.

bezel's questionnaire answers ✧
  1. When did you first join the Fables cult community?
I started the fable sketch soon after I joined the site. I don't want to admit how much time I spent confused stuck in an endless loop of having to get my posts approved and figuring out the color in function 😅
  2. Introduce us to your very first fable!
  3. How many fables have you collected?
  4. Do you prefer depicting your fables in humanized form, feral/traditional form, or a mix of both?
A mix, but I prefer drawing ferals
  5. What are some of your favorite types of fable designs?
I like to draw more natural or animal-inspired designs, so I really enjoy seeing the more complex/picturesque ones from other artists!
  6. You probably have more, but share only three of your favorite fables owned by other players:
      ImageImageImage
  7. Share an idea/scene/story concept you want to work on for your fable(s) but haven’t started yet:
I want to make a map of my fable world and work out backstories for some of my new ones
  8. Do you have a favorite fable couple or pairing? Share your fable OTP!
      OTP kleio & cian 4 lyfe ‼️‼️
  9. Share your favorite *artist entry* fable design:
Of the more recent ones, this design by twilispark
  10. What has been your favorite nursery - Autumn Haunting, Winterspell, or Spring Reverie? Why?
Spring was the most fun to make traits for, but Autumn had my favorite aesthetics/moodboards for designs
  11. Share a few of your favorite fable traits:
Antlers, overgrown base, wavy base, kelpie 2, cicada wings
  12. What has been one of your favorite past adopt prompts?:
Any of the silly ones like the april 1 fables!
  13. Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature that you’ve made of your fable(s):
  14. Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature made by another player of their fable(s):
  15. Does your fable have a theme song/character playlist or another piece of media that reminds you of them?
No and I have been TRYING to find theme songs! I've found more new music I like over the past month than the past few years probably. And yet none of them fit just right.
  16. What’s one of your favorite things about the fables species and/or community?
Everyone is so creative, artwork and stories are very inspiring to me and I love reading all the unique lore!
  17. Do you have any big fable goals or aspirations that you’ve set?
I have big plans for my herds and will need many more fables to fill out my world 😅
  18. What helps to inspire or motivate you to develop your fables and/or their world?
I made fables as a sort of outlet for this because I love to worldbuild. Making the designs is like stress relief and coming up with lore is great inspiration for art practice. That being said I probably would have abandoned this project a long time ago if it was just me - the comunity fuels me a lot.
  19. What’s something about the species or community that you’re most excited about or are looking forward to?
Summer nursery and future plans 👀
  20. Where do your fables live? In a herd, a forest, a castle, a cottage, a big city? Why and how do they live there?
All of mine currently live in herds. Some (nobility) live in a castle-like stone structure with big archways and gardens, built with the aid of magic. Others live in smaller groups and have different shelters depending on where they live.
  21. Tell us about some of the flora and fauna we might encounter while exploring your fable’s world:
When exploring Vallor territory, you might stumble across red & black vultures or little bunnies with sheep-like curly fur.
If in Harte territory, you might see a berrymouse, songbirds, or a spirit-deer at twilight.
  22. Is there religion in your fable’s realm? What sort of deities reside there, and how are they worshipped?
Not really in a traditional sense. There are no deities. The existence of magic is the one thing that has the biggest effect on the world, and different herds rely on or interact with magic differently. So there are rituals, etc, but no known source or entity tied to magic. If there ever were any gods, my fables' world has long forgotten them. I will get to explore it more with a future herd ^ ^
  23. What do your fables commonly eat? What’s their favorite food or drink?
They are mostly herbivores so plants, fruits, berries, nuts, grains, etc. Then in human AU still mostly these things but more complex recipes and cooking
  24. What kind of clothing or costume would your fable(s) wear?
As ferals, simple clothing like shawls, coats, and jewelry, and occasionally armor and weapons. As humans, usual medieval fantasy type clothes
  25. Does your fable have any pets, familiars, or companion animals?
      Human Kleio has a horse
  26. If your fable was in a Dungeons & Dragons party, what would be their race/class?
Not very familiar with DnD but tried a few,
      Pomme - halfling ranger
      Kleio - human (dhampir?) druid
      Chione - half-elf sorcerer

Melonbread's questionnaire answers ✧
  1. When did you first join the Fables cult community?
I returned to CS after 7-8 years away early December 2024 after being reminded of it. I remembered how much I used to love the UMA scene here, so I spent a while just looking at all the closed species! I remember fables caught my eye but I was too timid to really try my hand at entering for any all the way up until #60 at the end of the month!

  2. Introduce us to your very first fable! (If you don’t have one yet, tell us about a fable character concept you have!)
Perrin my boy! He's a tired old necromancer that lives alone in a crumbling castle, guarding a legacy that only he remembers. He reanimates skeletons and dead vegetation to help shape the surrounding forest to make it as safe and peaceful as he can. Mysterious, a bit anxious, and very introverted, but pretty benevolent.

  3. How many fables have you collected? (Feel free to link your character storage/th if you want to show them off!)
Five! My storage and lore writing are all here! In order, they are Perrin, Bellamy, Liujin, Verela, and Yeşim.

    Image Image Image Image Image

  4. Do you prefer depicting your fables in humanized form, feral/traditional form, or a mix of both?
Both! I'm definitely faster at drawing ferals than I am humans, and humans are more intuitive to write, so it's always a fun exercise to draw/write the other way around. Mine are more AUs of each other rather than shapeshifting though (but maybe I could have a shapeshifting AU?!) It's very freeform depending on what I feel like doing c:

  5. What are some of your favorite types of fable designs (natural, simple or complex, fantastical, picturesque, etc)?
All of them!! If I had to say I think I like designs that are a balanced mix of natural/fantastical, or take motifs from non-cervine/equine species. I think it's really cool to have, say, canine or feline looks juxtaposed over the hooved animal base!

  6. You probably have more, but share only three of your favorite fables owned by other players:
Ahh, very difficult to choose ;v; off the top of my head, among those that haven't been mentioned yet, I really love Kickknacks' Mithrin, with those fabulous cool and warm greys, sleek glints, and subtle filigree markings, Zentropy's Zaepii—the faded coat combined with the bright horn has such a soft vintage(?) glow to it! And the triple fae wings are so beautiful!—, and Ucanthandleme's Oculos; the glasses, the subtle bags under their eyes, the kind of ruffled fur look that the base, tail, and ears have, all come together to make a super charming design!

    Image Image Image

  7. Share an idea/scene/story concept you want to work on for your fable(s) but haven’t started yet:
So many ideas! I think a lot of my fables so far have been kind of independent as characters, in the sense that they don't have much reason ordinarily to interact with each other, so I need to start putting them into Situations.

  8. Do you have a favorite fable couple or pairing? Share your fable OTP!
Not yet! But a lot of the pairings I've seen from others in the community are super interesting, so I'm always excited to read about them! For myself, I hope that one day I can find (or give) Verela someone to (mutually) scheme against (romantic?). She's a hammy bundle of every single one of my favorite court drama or mafia villain tropes rolled into one, so I think she needs someone that can match her energy. 'Rich people being mean to each other (flirting)' is just really fun to me.

  9. Share your favorite *artist entry* fable design (can be made by you or another player!):
Hmm... if I had to just pick one, I very much like yeena's big cat entry! Super beautiful colors and markings!

    Image

  10. What has been your favorite nursery - Autumn Haunting, Winterspell, or Spring Reverie? Why?
Hard to say! I might be biased since I joined the staff team when Spring Reverie opened, but I also really adore the Winterspell traits. It was also just fun to log in occasionally and see what new designs had been posted to the nursery, like reading the morning paper almost, so I think of it really fondly, haha.

  11. Share a few of your favorite fable traits (ears, tails, wings, etc):
Med. curved horn 4ever I love you med. curved horn 💞 I also really love kirin bases and folded wings!

  12. What has been one of your favorite past adopt prompts? (locate the lost cats, two truths one lie, etc)
I didn't enter, but the rumor mill comp was really fun to read through!

  13. Show us one of your favorite adopt entries you made or wrote for an adopt that you didn’t win:
The one I did for #82 I think. I'm still pretty charmed by the idea of fables making yarn out of their own shed fur, or special balms for wings and such, so I've incorporated that into my writing.

  14. Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature that you’ve made of your fable(s):
Still super happy with how my first drawing of Perrin came out!

    Image

  15. Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature made by another player of their fable(s):
Really hard to say! I really liked molotov's response to the first lore prompts; their art is always fabulous and the rhyming caption on the first response especially has such a compelling sound and rhythm to it.

  16. Does your fable have a theme song/character playlist or another piece of media that reminds you of them?
The only one that does at the moment is this song for Liujin. I really like the music in that game, but it's very embarrassing to admit that I play a gacha game, so please enjoy the music and then delete the knowledge of which game it came from out of your memory. Thank you!

  17. What’s one of your favorite things about the fables species and/or community?
I love the culture of art and writing that's developed here! There's a good spirit of creativity.

  18. Do you have any big fable goals or aspirations that you’ve set (or already accomplished)?
I don't know if it's big but it'd be fun to have at least one design from every artist. 🫴 hand em over :U

  19. What helps to inspire or motivate you to develop your fables and/or their world?
I like yapping but I am pretty introverted, so worldbuilding, which is a lot of yapping to myself, is perfect! (joking) (kind of). I just think it's fun :) and a nice thing to occupy myself with when I'm sitting around waiting or can't sleep or something.

  20. What’s something about the species or community that you’re most excited about or are looking forward to?
Summer nursery! The reveal of the lore prompts mystery fables (twelve of them?!)! Kite's group rp! I don't even know if I have the bravery or energy to participate, but I know I'll really enjoy reading it!

  21. Where do your fables live? In a herd, a forest, a castle, a cottage, a big city? Why and how do they live there?
They live in a bit of a post-post-apocalyptic fantasy world. All on one continent so far (that I haven't managed to come up with a name for...), but all over the place since it gives me an excuse to write about a whole bunch of different fictional cultures, geographies, ecosystems, etc. Perrin lives alone in an old forest along the northern coast, Bellamy also lives alone in a cursed desert, Verela's the head of a powerful merchant guild in the world's main trade city, and Liujin and Yeşim tend to travel around!

  22. Tell us about the magic in your fable’s world; are there rules regarding its use? Do all fables have the capacity for it?
It's a bit complicated. Magic can be roughly divided into ambient, old, and new, with ambient magic being the kind that just... exists, vs old and new magic being things like spells and enchantments that are actively cast. Old magic is a lot more complex and powerful than new magic due to most of the methodology and theory being destroyed a long time ago—new magic is mostly just whatever's been developed after fablekind had to start over almost from scratch. In my world fables are especially sensitive to magic, so they do really badly in cursed areas whereas most living things get away with just minor effects, but not all fables are capable of actively casting any sort of magic, and of those very few have the knowledge required to do anything fancy with it. 90% of new magic is like... making a horn or eye light up, summoning a slight breeze, or levitating small magic.

In, say, D&D terms, new magics are mostly like cantrip-level power and old magics are higher-level spells except everyone forgot how to cast them so old magics show up mostly as existing ancient enchantments, spells painstakingly reverse-engineered over decades/centuries of study, or someone going 'wow! A mysterious spell that no fable alive can decipher!', trying to cast it, and it usually backfiring terribly.

  23. Tell us about some of the flora and fauna we might encounter while exploring your fable’s world:
Mostly real-world things, plus some vaguely fantasy variants! Though things that reside in cursed zones especially may become mana-touched and mutate into different species entirely, ranging from subtle changes (like slightly different colors and leaf shapes) to more uh. apparent changes (breathing fire, extra limbs, getting 5x larger...).

  24. Is there religion in your fable’s realm? What sort of deities reside there, and how are they worshipped?
Yes! I've actually written a bit about it in my storage, but basically the ancients seemed to have gods, but after that whole near-apocalypse thing those belief systems were more or less dropped in favor of revering more tangible natural phenomena—wind, sun, moon, stars, sea, etc. Which natural phenomena and exactly how they're worshiped varies wildly from region to region! Moon reverence is really common in the north of the continent for example, but some herds revere it more as a concept than an entity, if that makes sense. I really like building fantasy religions, so my Yeşim was actually made to be a theologian to give me an excuse to blather about it into the future.

  25. What are some holidays or common celebrations in your fable's world? How do they celebrate?
I actually haven't thought about this a lot... I only have the one idea at the moment: In Desije, the city-state that de-facto rules the golden coast and the trade nexus of the world, where the wind is revered as a bringer of order and prosperity, there is an annual festival where the great merchant guilds each donate a fraction of their profits in the form of gold coins. The coins are then melted down and cast into a bell, which is then hung from one of the towers of the Highwind Temple, such that when the wind blows, the symphony of years of prosperity rings out across the city.

  26. What do your fables commonly eat? What’s their favorite food or drink?
Anything that humans would eat! They're omnivores!

      - Perrin's favorite meal consists of buttered bread, mushroom soup, and tea (no extra sugar or cream).
      - Bellamy probably could and would eat anything... he likes everything! It's more about the idea behind the meal rather than the meal itself.
      - Liujin likes fried dough, grilled skewers of meat and vegetables, and sweet wine; it's pretty common for her to be eating street food or tavern meals. The snake, of course, likes rabbits, mice, and the occasional sweet dumpling. It thinks alcohol is gross, so they argue about this sometimes...
      - Vera's a dessert girlie. She's super into delicate, elaborate sweets: think opera cake and fancy fruit tarts.
      - Yeşim's used to eating anything and likes to explore new and unusual tastes, but she likes mint tea and basil fried oysters the most.

  27. What kind of clothing or costume would your fable(s) wear?
Feral forms... not a lot, just some accessories. Human forms, a pretty wide mix of clothing inspired by cultures across a variety of historical periods, plus some fantasy embellishment on top. Whatever's fun to draw, basically.

  28. Does your fable have any pets, familiars, or companion animals?
Not sure where "conjoined bestie" falls, but Liujin & the snake are uh, definitely a fable-other animal pair.

  29. If your fable was in a Dungeons & Dragons party, what would be their race/class?
I spent an embarrassing amount of time thinking about this ok here goes:

      - Perrin: the classic! High elf wizard, necromancy school
      - Bellamy: Tiefling for sure, but class is really tricky... I think twilight cleric? Or perhaps wild magic sorcerer.
      - Liujin: Hexblade pact of the blade warlock. Just all in on the whole magic sword thing. Her whole snake deal brings to mind yuan-ti, but I think to her great chagrin her lore might put her closer to aasimar?
      - Verela: This woman should not be allowed to be an adventurer. She has no real magical or physical capabilities, but if I had to choose, maybe a half-elf eloquence or glamour bard?
      - Yeşim: Definitely a water genasi lore bard.

  30. Share a secret about your fable(s):
Perrin's technically the lord of his keep, being the single surviving heir to the herd that maintained it and commanded its garrison. He's only alive due to, ironically, backlash from a powerful necromancy spell preserving him while the world almost ended. He's got some crazy survivor's guilt over the whole thing, and feels like it's his responsibility to maintain an eternal vigil over the forest and the soldiers buried in the fort—his charges that he once failed to protect, and will never fail again. It's not like the dead are still around though; the skeletons are empty bones puppeteered by his magic. He just treats them in ways that he hopes they would have liked. Plants flowers in their vertebrae, walks them shuffling and clattering down to the stream to wash away the mud that gathers in their joints, sits them up so birds can perch chirping on their old, old mandibles, things like that.
