How do you feel about no april fools event?

I'm really sad about it, because it's the one year I remembered to check CS on April Fools... (But I won't bash the staff for it, I understand how busy this time of year is)

The staff just can't win or make everyone happy.

Joining the "disappointed there wasn't an April Fool's prank this year" gang. Of course if staff are busy/stressed I completely understand that, but it would be nice to get some kind of heads up that they don't plan on doing anything so that we don't have false expectations and get let down the day of. And if accessibility is a concern then I think CS should really start looking into a way for users to toggle off April Fool's graphics (like Flight Rising does).

It's very disappointing. Like many others I also don't buy the excuse, this website hardly gives you any reason to login anymore it feels like. April fools used to be the best day to be on a pet site, very unfortunate that's changed. Let's hope they do one next year, but at this point I'm not hopeful.

With as much opposition I've had towards staff action [or uh lack thereof] in the past I agree with Simon, it's really not that big of a deal for a singular day. There's other places on the internet for what everyone who is disappointed is looking for.
All of the complaining is just kind of odd to me, because we got a good bit of new pets and cool items. Some pets haven't even grown yet. I don't come on CS for news or to check the time. I come on CS to collect pets and use oekaki. I get those other things I'm looking for elsewhere. If I want to play a game where you feed/care for pets? Flight Rising or Furry Paws. Do I want to play a racing game? Mario Kart or well... Garfield Kart lol.
Traditions change sometimes, and why should it be a bad thing if they change to compromise for poor timing [between/before major events, as well as it being 24 HOURS ?] and trying to be more considerate towards players?
If I want to be fooled and get a laugh I read the news or hang out with friends. There's also a place where you can see old April Fools CS pet changes, though idk where. If you're that upset and desperate, make your own versions. That way you get what you want, and others don't have to suffer through changes to the site that may be visually distressing.
As someone with a visual impairment I miss some April Fools things, but not the ones they'd rid of for good reason. If I am really so desperate for the "good ol' days" I'll find and use the old images or make parodies of pets of my own.

100% this. Plenty of users have been respectful about their disappointment, and I totally get that it can be a disappointment to not have as much for April Fool's Day this year as we've had in past years. Heck, as someone who's been here for nearly all April Fool's Days, I instinctively went "aww" when I saw there were only pets and the hilarious items for this year.

But not all users have been giving respectful vibes, and it really, really pains me.

The typical April Fool's Day celebrations around the world are normalized, socially acceptable bullying. Think about it. Typical April Fool's Day stuff involves people having fun specifically at the expense of other people. (No, it doesn't make it any better if the latter also has fun--and that's not happening that much in the first place, and even when it does happen, it's only genuine half the time, because the other half of the time it's just masking discomfort in order to not draw ire.) And sometimes this expense is very, very great and has tangible negative physical effects on those who suffer--as many of us have explained on the forums for many years every time there's a prank on CS.

I'm sure all of us who have sent in both public and private feedback in previous years know that the staff never mean to hurt us--because April Fool's Day pranks hurting us has been completely, utterly normalized in the world we live in. And we greatly appreciate that the staff has done their best to try to figure out funny pranks that wouldn't hurt anyone. But even the seemingly harmless Squiddy Smoothie, grayscale, and upside-down years, of which the upside-down one was specifically trialed by one of us on staff, turned out to wreak havoc on many of us (in the case of the upside-down year, the staffie who trialed it was one of the lucky ones who happened to be unaffected by it, hence why they didn't realize how bad it would be).

Between disappointment that seriously hurts no one and letting an abled majority have fun at the serious expense of non-abled people, I think it's clear which option is better.

The only pranks that wouldn't hurt anyone involve funny art (e.g. furniture year, googly eyes year) and thus more of our artists' time and brainpower.

I loathe April Fool's as a thing. It's a day of nothing but mean-spirited "pranks" and outright misinformation. Why on Earth are we as a society just cool with that... >.>
I hate that we're just cool about lying to each other just all willy nilly even if it is just for one day.

I personally love the suspicious hat item and funny pet releases. I'm cool with stuff like that. And I also love and adore Saikiyo's April litter. That's the kind of chaotic shenanigans I can get behind.

But we don't need the text swapping thing nor the random pet changes or whatever. As someone who's currently discovering I'm probably autistic, the sudden changes to one of my favorite places on the internet is just overwhelming me, I guess. I used to log in to adopt the new pets and check out the prank of the year and then I ditched CS for the rest of the day, I just don't like the random changes anymore. I used to be better at it, but the older I get the less I like them. I just don't have the spoons to handle it anymore as an adult with more responsibilities nowadays.
