Discussion about the Pets, Items, Dress-ups, Events, Site, Forum or other CS features!

Honestly if you can't handle CS being more accommodating towards users with disabilities/ailments that doesn't sound like a site problem. There are plenty other games that I'm SURE do something for April Fools, playing this game is a choice. April Fools day is a DAY. would you put effort into redecorating your entire home before morning just to take it all down before midnight? it's pointless, and while it may be amusing, think about the people that actually do the work perhaps. With easter coming, I'm sure artists have enough on their plate with creating event and monthly adopts.
I can understand wanting a little more, and maybe CS can reuse old images that they used for pet variants on the day, like lion armoires. Maybe they can be cycled each year, but calling it lazy and demeaning the sensory needs of others isn't really cool </3
not every year is the same, we will get another silly thing next year.
1 site can't fit the needs of ALL users, so there has to be some compromise, and it's better to NOT blatantly disregard those with visual impairments/medical conditions. not exactly a great risk to take for a site with i think to be a sizable group of disabled folks (including me).

Fun that is specifically fun because it's built on the suffering of other people is not fun
Was your pet adopted December 18, any year, or December 24, 2011? It is most likely an older pet! CLICK ME to identify your pet!

Putting googly eyes or wigs on random pets shouldn't cause anyone to suffer
That part's fine and
the reason behind not getting it this year is simply time, nothing like "not allowed to have fun"

I'll be honest, i'd never even really realized there was forum pranks? I'd always only kinda seen the goofy pets, this time being the long legged foxes. I'd be pretty satisfied with just goofy items and pets personally. It kinda matches what we get for other lesser events.

As a "new user" (year 3 in July) I really don't care that are no "pranks" anymore. I always found April's Fool to be a tad mean-spirited and never liked the holiday. I am appalled that someone would just straight up say that prioritizing the comfort and well-being of disabled users (and not interfering with their aids) is a "flimsy excuse". It is so easy for a non-disabled person to say these pranks did no harm when it is clear from the statements of others that they were indeed doing harm.
In fact not only I am not at all bothered by the lack of pranks, it bums me out whenever I see threads like these. It is that around EVERY holiday, there is a new one like this that seems to do nothing but complain and bash staff. The way this community gets away with insulting staff by calling them "lazy" no matter how hard they work is disheartening and disrespectful. It startles me the way that so many users fail to recognize the effort put into the website and demand more from volunteer staff members who are stretched thin as it is. I have felt this way for about a year or so now but feel as though this is the time to say it.
A very vocal portion of the CS community is downright mean and entitled and that is the biggest reason I do not talk on forums. I hope in due time that many users realize how mean-spirited they have become and change for the better. It is rather disappointing knowing that based on both website and account age how many users who act like this are adults. If we hope to see many more April's Fools Days then we need to be better. We need to learn to appreciate and adapt to what we have.

Well said! I wholeheartedly agree with you. I cannot stand seeing the staff berated this way. Few people truly understand the effort that it takes to run a site like this... not to mention each and every staff member has a life to juggle on top of this.
That's just the way the cookie crumbles...

i dread april fools every year. i stay off social media completely because theres so much nonsense and it gets very confusing for me as an autistic person. im glad theyre no longer doing the kind of 'invasive' events where they mess with visuals/settings and i thought the 'long fennecs' were cute, even if theyre not as silly as previous april fools pets.
imo if the staff have explained that they've chosen not to put extra effort into april fools because theyre focusing on the other holidays either side, thats completely fine with me and it just makes me more excited for easter. ive not paid attention to the hat thing this year but there are a lot of people talking about how fun it is. its not like nothing happened.
i think its important to remember that the staff members are all just humans who are making silly art on a silly website for you to enjoy. if youre not enjoying it, then thats okay, you dont have to engage with things you dont like. but just because you use a site doesnt mean youre entitled to other peoples time and work.
