Lemonhead
Writing/Art/Link to Entry:Lemon always knew that she was a little bit different from other deer. Sure, she had the same shape and the same gait as them when she trotted, but she knew that she was a little bit odd. Her skin was squishy and bouncy, and you could always just barely see through her to the other side. It never really bothered her, but when the other deer started to notice and make fun of her for it life got hard. Her parents had always assured her when she was a fawn that she was just like all the other deer, and that they loved her all the same. Of course, her parents were also a little bit odd. Her mother had more of a beak than a mouth, something Lemon herself inherited, and her father was a bit transparent like she was, though his was less noticeable thanks to his darker coloration. Of course, Lemon had inherited her mothers pale yellow hue, so her translucency was easier to notice. When she finally became an adult and was to set off on her own to find her own herd, she was scared. Sure, the other deer her age hadn't been kind to her as they grew up, but here she had her parents who she loved dearly and the few friends she had managed to make. But eventually she decided that it was time, and so she bid farewell to the life she had lived before and began her journey to find her new herd. She'd seen news of a grand deer city that was being constructed just a few days trot away, and that deer of all sorts had been congregating there, big, small, feathered, and perhaps even translucent like she was. So she swallowed her nerves and kept her head held high and began her brand new adventure.
The journey had taken a few more days than she had planned, but she figured that was okay, there was no rush. She'd stopped at some small towns on the way and met some great new people! Even finding her own companion, the sweet puppy named Potassium! She'd tried to leave her in town but the little dog had just happily padded after her, even well after the town was out of sight. It seemed like she'd made up her mind, so Lemon accepted the new friend in her life and continued on. It was nice, having a friend to travel with. Sure, Potassium couldn't talk to her, but it was still nice to have someone listening when she rambled as they trotted along the road. Soon enough, after spending a few nights curled under large oak trees, the fabled city came into view over the horizon. She sped up into a gallop at the sight, letting out whoops of joy, the new life she wanted was right in front of her! As she and Potassium grew nearer other deer appeared on the road. They were all so amazing, and they left Lemon astounded! She swore she saw a deer with a long elegant tail, and was that a deer with a tree in its back?! Suddenly her translucency didn't seem to matter anymore when faced with all of these unique deer. With Potassium at her side, she gleefully pranced through the front gates and into a brand new world.
