whisper listened to tempest talk quietly, nodding along and agreeing with his worries. while she hadn't always had the best relationship with arcadia, she knew arcadia was never one to be silent. tempest mentioned that he trusted whisper to find any signs left by arcadia, and whisper dutifully nodded. as he told her to rest and departed himself, whisper let out a quiet sigh, remaining sitting in the same spot. she closed her eyes, feeling the air around her. it was gentle, almost as if taunting them after what they had just gone through. after a few moments, she opened her eyes and began to pad back towards the surgeon den.

there she spotted 3 apprentices - cherry, brambles and leaf. she curtly nodded to them, before slipping past and heading to thee back corner to begin glancing through all of their herb stores. she wished to speak to her apprentices, but they had already been through enough today - they could socialize with leaf if they'd wanted.

bloom, ever grateful for shadow's check up, shook her head slowly. "i'm okay," she purred quietly, before looking to dark. she nodded as he mentioned he was fine, but... "i think whisper just returned to her den, perhaps you should stop by and find some herbs for your limp?" she suggested quietly. "our tribemates are important sure, but so are you." she meowed firmly, drawing her tail over her paws.

shark was quick to note lightning's approach, the torbie striding confidently up to him. she sunk down beside him, and shark watched quietly as she placed a shark tooth between them, before a chuckle escaped from his belly. "they sent ya to me, did they?" he mused with a shake of his head. he glanced out toward the horizon. "arcadia has always been... sneaky." he half teased, before turning his head towards the molly. "you say you're lookin' for a sign, what's troubling you, young'in?" he reached forward to prod her playfully with a paw before curling it back under himself.

both shark and lightning had been through a lot - seen more than most of the cats in their tribe. lightning was reliable, she always had been. to see her somewhat on edge was a bit troubling for the retiree, but nevertheless, he'd always offer an ear.

He twitched his ears, and shook his head a couple times as he watched them all swim. The high white cat purred a bit to himself. Sure, he used his daughter for his gain, and the others too. She was his daughter, though, and he did care for her. It wouldn’t stop him from sending her out o do things for him, though.

Snarl gave a short grunt of acknowledgment as Monkey complimented his hunting skills. The apprentice’s excitement was clear, and while Snarl wasn’t one to revel in praise, he respected the young tom’s energy. His sharp gaze softened for just a moment.

“Thanks,” he replied, his voice low but not unkind. “Keep focused like that, and you’ll make a fine hunter.”

The older tom watched as Monkey prepared for his own attempt, noticing the apprentice was looking to Moth for guidance. Snarl felt no need to interfere—the young one was in good paws. Besides, this was a chance for Moth to provide the one-on-one training that Monkey needed. Snarl's presence, while not entirely unwelcome, might get in the way.

Grabbing the seagull he’d caught earlier and slinging it onto his back, Snarl signaled to the others with a flick of his tail. “I’ll head back to camp with my catch,” he stated evenly, giving Moth and Monkey a moment alone to finish up their training session. “You two keep at it.” There was confidence in his tone; he trusted the apprentice was in capable paws.

He turned and padded off through the jungle, his powerful form moving smoothly despite his missing leg. The weight of the seagull and the eggs balanced him, a small reminder of his own skill and experience as a seasoned sailor. As he entered the camp, he made his way toward the pregnant maidens, Shadow and Bloom.

Snarl set his catches down in front of the two maidens. “For you both,” he murmured, dipping his head respectfully. His gaze lingered on Shadow as he spoke.

𝓁𝒾𝓁𝓎──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── ( eighteen moons old ✧ molly ✧ rogue ✧ bisexual ✧ location: sunning rocks ✧ tags: ripple, nyx )

The gentle lap of Turtle Bay’s water melded with an undercurrent of unease as Lily pressed onward along the moonlit shore. Beside her, a young tom padded softly, his fur damp and eyes shadowed with worry. “Lily, are you sure about this? I mean… I’ve lived with them, I know what they’re like,” he murmured. His concern, wrapped in familiar caution and grief over past losses, tugged at her heart even as she resolved to press on. Glancing over her shoulder for only a heartbeat, she met his worried gaze with a steady, unspoken promise: she would be careful, and she would not falter. "Nyx’s orders. You know how he can be." she shrugged, brushing off the growing anxiety as they moved inland.

A silent, watchful gaze—one that blended the weight of command with conflicted pride—reminded her that her path was intertwined with legacies and expectations not of her own choosing. Though she could not sway the opinions or fears of those who followed, she felt the subtle pressure of eyes both protective and piercing from the gathering dusk. Nyx was watching, and she had to be at her best.

Steeling herself, Lily let the uncertainty fuel her determination. The cooling night beckoned with its blend of danger and possibility. With each graceful step, her paws carved a deliberate path in the sand—a silent declaration that her destiny was hers to claim, despite the anxious voices and conflicted glances trailing behind her.

Then, Lily halted mid-step as a familiar yet subtle aroma teased her senses—a faint, lingering musk from the tribe patrol that had passed through days ago, just before the storm battered the coast. The delicate trail of their presence, carried by the cooling breeze, beckoned her to investigate further.

She followed the whisper of scent along the shoreline until it led her to a secluded outcrop overlooking a slow, winding river branching off from the freshwater lake. There, amidst the gentle current, lay a collection of flat, sunning stones—natural platforms that glinted softly in the fading light. Beyond, an opening in the shore was framed by a dense thicket of brush, providing perfect concealment for those who knew how to watch and wait.

A spark of strategic clarity lit within her. This hidden spot, marked by nature’s own camouflage and the ghost of the patrol’s scent, was ideal for laying in wait. Here, in the quiet meeting of water and wild, Lily envisioned her band of rogues poised to intercept an unsuspecting patrol.

With cautious determination, she set about marking the area in her mind. Every detail—the murmuring river, the scattered stones, the protective curtain of brush—would become part of their trap. In a low, resolute murmur meant only for the night, Lily whispered, “This is our ambush point. Let them come; we’ll be ready.”

Brambles flicked an ear as Shark took the poppy seeds, happy to help and offering a small head bow in response to his thanks. "Of course, Shark," she smiled, "if you ever need anything for your bones, I'm sure there's something we could do to help you feel better!"

She watched Shark turn and then pause when a head poked into the Surgeon's den. Brambles blinked at Leaf's question and then at the state of them. The Surgeon apprentice immediately caught sight of the scrapes across their ruffled pelt and splinters that dug into their paws. Before she could say anything, Shark spoke for her.

The weight and command in his voice made her bristle slightly, but she bit back her immediate reaction. He wasn't wrong, she hadn't eaten, she hadn't even thought about eating all day. Even if her stomach twisted in hunger. But, the sight of her fellow apprentice covered in the hardships of the storm pulled at Brambles' heart. She turned her gaze towards Leaf, taking in the exhaustion behind their eyes. She shifted on her paws before saying, "Y'know, I could ask you the same thing?" Her tone wasn't sharp and there was worry behind it, "food wouldn't be the worst idea, but first, please let me see to your paws at least. And then, we could all share something, if you'd like?"

Bat still had the mouse between their jaws when Snarl's voice reached their ears. He'd seen them? It wasn't much, just two gruff words, but Bat still stiffened slightly in surprise. Snarl wasn't one to hand out praise lightly. If he said something, he meant it.

Bat swallowed down the knee-jerk response to brush it off with sarcasm. Instead, they only gave a short nod, ears twitching as they bent down to bury their mouse in a cache beneath a tangle of roots and dirt to retrieve later. No need to make a big deal out of it. Still, as they turned to head past this tree to the next, there was a small flicker of satisfaction burning in their chest.

They listened as Snarl started to work his way down the cliffside and as Monkey practiced his hunting with Moth. They shook their head. "Focus," they whispered, "feed the tribe." They continued their search of the tree roots for a few minutes, finding a few more mice but only managing to actually snag one more. The rest either heard the large cat's pawsteps, were between roots that they couldn't get to, or too small to even consider as prey. Maybe Bat should have tried to snag them, but those wouldn't even have filled the belly of the youngest cat. They didn't think it was worth it.

Bat's attention went back to their hunting party. Snarl had come back from his excursion down the cliff triumphant with a whole clutch of eggs in tow. They watched him disappear into the underbrush with his catch back to camp. A feeling of dissatisfaction filled their head as they saw his catches. His two mice were kit's play next to the gull and eggs that he managed to get. They barely seemed worth mentioning. Instead of digging up their catches, Bat continued deeper into the forest. They weren't done yet.

With their orange eyes scanning the underbrush, Bat lowered into a loose crouch, their muscles shifting beneath their thick smokey pelt. The jungle was still alive with movement, the storms' aftermath doing little to scare off the smaller prey that thrived in its undergrowth. Honestly, the prey seemed to be doing better than the predators.

A rustle caught their ear, something scurrying beneath a fallen log.

Their large paws pressed lightly against the damp earth and they crept forward, ears twitching as they listened. The scent of raccoon drifted on the humid air, mingling with the salty breeze from the cliffs. Raccoon could be dangerous, they fight back, but as they peeked from the tall grasses and ferns, they could see three small shapes. The raccoon kits were huddled together, making soft noises at each other, but otherwise alone. Bat flicked their tail, exhaling slowly before springing forward.

The three had no time to react as Bat lunged, their claws catching in one of the raccoon's fur as they bowled it over. It let out a sharp squeak, the other two fled quicker than Bat thought, but they held firm to their catch. Bat sat for a moment, shook out their fur, then lifted the limp raccoon kit. That was better.

Leaf smiled softly at their clanmates, listening as Shark spoke "Yes, of course" They dipped their head to the older cat in respect before turning to Brambles, tilting their head as they listened. As Shark made his way out, they stepped to the side, but also a step further into the den."You have yourself a deal Brambles. We can share something after." They gave their tribemate a playful smile, moving to sit down and let Brambles look them over. They saw Whisper walking in and smile, nodding their head to them as they passed.

Dark nodded softly, looking between the two maidens as they spoke. They were right, he did need to get looked at, just he felt bad being even a little bit lazy when he could be helping his tribemates. However, if he was hurt he wouldn't be able to do his duties anymore and that would be even worse. "I'll go see Snow, Whisper has had his paws full I'm sure. I want him to rest." He said softly, nodding to the two she-cats before he got up and made his way over to Snow, limping slightly. "Snow if you have a moment, I'd appreciate a look over." He said with a respectful dip of his head.

The young tom slipped up beside Lily, keeping his head down for the moment. "Yeah... Nyx's orders." his voice had a hint of distain in it as he followed behind Lily. He kept on her heels, movinging swiftly through the underbrush. He had grown up on the island, so he knew it well. As they walked up to the spot he nodded, sniffing around, "Yeah this is a common patrol route. They should patrol it before night's end." He told her quietly, shifting back into the underbrush.

The tortoiseshell she cat was almost surprised when Snarl then appeared. She didn’t notice him at first, of course. She’d been focused on Bloom, as well as Dark. However, when Snarl got closer, that’s when she finally lifted her gaze a bit, and caught sight of him from the corner of her eye. She gave a nervous little squeak. She then saw that he’d brought them food as well. Dark had already brought food…but she wasn’t going to reject Snarl. She then quickly said “S…Snarl… would you, um…like to join us for a meal?”

The golden and blue eyed cat quickly lowered his gaze once more. He was almost startled when Dark came over to him. He silently wondered why the other hadn’t gone to the surgeon and apprentice…Then he realized he was a bit happy he’d come to him. He nodded and noticed him limping, saying “Well, I can already see you’re limping. Can you tell me what happened?” he asked. While also looking his leg over, and finding a cut or scratch of some sort. He said “You have a scratch or a cut on your leg. I can put a paste made from an herb on that.”

The medium to long haired cat watched their daughter swim. The silver-black blotched tabby and high white cat flicked his tail. He kept his eyes on the others as they went with Lily. The young she cat was doing well so far, but it wasn’t over yet. She still needed to make it to the camp. She actually just needed to find an area nearby, then set the plan in motion. Which would hopefully gain them entrance to the camp of the clan. Then that would allow Nyx and or the other rogues to also get in there.

He shook his head a couple times. He knew how this might look to some, if not most, of his rogue group…like he was just using his daughter. He was, to a degree, because that’s how things were done. He was also having her do it, though, because he trusted her. He wanted to see her flourish as a rogue. She was born into this group, it was a part of her. He wanted, needed, to see his daughter be able to do things. He needed to see that she could succeed, and therefore what she was doing now was her mission to lead.

The orange tabby she cat was cuddling with her little brother and adopted kit as all three were scared when the storm hit. It had been terrible and left them without a second in command. It reminded her of the storm that took her tribe from her, she hoped her sister was still out there looking for her. A shaky voice shook her from her thoughts, it was Loki. She smiled and said "we'll keeping holding on, just like we always do." A squeaky mew asked a question next, "Don't worry Squeak we'll be ok." She continued to look around the camp, she saw Snow checking on everyone, Jaws, Snarl and Jaw's apprentice helping to clear the camp. Tempest and some others going to bury the second in command, the two other maidens talking quietly. She nodded when Loki went to help the hunting patrol, and cuddled Squeak closer as the small kit was still too scared to do much.

The brown, black and white cat was really shaken by the storm and had run to Firelight when it started, not just to get comfort from her but to also be there in case something bad happened. Something did and he was stuck to his "big sister's" side since. He sighed and asked "What'll we do now?" He nodded feeling better now. He smiled at Squeak then said he'll join the hunting patrol so everyone will have something to eat, the maidens most importantly. When Firelight nodded he left to join the hunting patrol.

She was a trembling mess when the storm hit and had been inconsolable until morning. She was now cuddled up to Firelight and Loki and feeling a little braver. She heard Firelight reassure Loki and asked "We're safe now right?" She was comforted by that and watched as Loki went to join the hunting patrol.

Lightning that Burned the Cherry Tree | Cherry
nonbinary female - surgeon apprentice - crush on Bat - tags: open > going to sleep

She was so tired that she felt like dying. She hoped nobody asked her anything or needed her anywhere, which was a rather dark thought for a surgeon apprentice. well, Brambles was better at the job than her anyway, so what does that matter? She kind of ignored Shark and Leaf when the elder needed something but got help from Brambles. Leaf instead was asking to help them with something, and she had no idea what she could need help with. She flicked her ears to the lead surgeon to tell them to get rest, which was like a dream to her ears, she could not want anything else than lay down to her nest and sleep this horrible day out of her mind.

Wolverine that hunted hares in a barley field | Wolverine
male - apprentice - crush is open - Strike is mentor - tags: Strike, Border patrol

He followed his mentor to the border patrol, not questioning anything about it as it seemed his mentor had some others things on her head, or maybe the day itself was being way too stressful for all of them. He hoped this day would be over so maybe tomorrow could be a much better day to go for, or maybe it could be even worst. His eyes wandered to his patrol buddies. As for anything around them, he was tired but needed to get his focus on and be alert for anything. He hoped that maybe for today, all the dangers out there could wait for another day, today happened way too much anyways.

Frozen Leaf that flew over the Sea | Frozen
female - sailor - crush is open - mentor to none - tags: Moth, Bat, open

She left the camp alongside the hunting patrol but separated from them on the words as she had no apprentice to deal with, and she did want to bring us much prey back to the camp she could catch. She felt like helping, at least, for somewhere to keep the hopes up to her tribemates minds after everything happened today. Food was good, and full bellies could make anyone happy, at least a little bit, so she did her job: she hunted, hunted, and hunted. She didn't look which prey she hunted, she chased down everything got to her path, she missed some, but she didn't give up and always got after the second on. In the end, she managed to catch a few mice, voles and even a squirrel, which was more like a lucky shot to her as she almost missed the fluffy-tailed mammal. She was happy for her catches and wanted to catch more, but she also knew that she could not carry them back to the camp. Even now, she may need to do two rounds to the camp and back to the prey. She took the squirrel and few mice at first and buried the rest carefully out for anyone to find them.

Snarl felt the nervous energy radiating from Shadow before she even spoke. It was something he had grown accustomed to over the moons—most cats felt uneasy around him. His reputation for being fierce, even cold, had a way of keeping others at arm’s length. He could see the flicker of uncertainty in Shadow’s eyes as she glanced up at him. His dark blue eyes softened ever so slightly, though his expression remained largely unchanged.

Her voice, timid and unsure, didn’t go unnoticed, and Snarl gave a brief nod, his tone measured and steady.

“Sure,” he said, his voice low but not unkind. “I brought enough for you both.”

He placed the seagull down carefully, the weight of the meal almost trivial compared to the weight of the unspoken words between them. His sharp gaze lingered on Shadow for just a moment longer than necessary, his mind a swirl of thoughts he didn’t share. It wasn’t that he didn’t notice her, or that he didn’t care—he simply kept his emotions locked tight behind the same walls he’d built for years.

“I’ll stay for a bit,” he added, his tone softer this time, though still measured. He didn’t let his guard down easily, but there was something about Shadow’s presence that made him feel less inclined to retreat. "Just... don’t expect me to stay long.”

He didn’t know why, but he didn’t feel the need to rush off just yet. There was something about the quiet comfort of the moment that made the hard edge of his usual self feel just a little less necessary.

After a moment’s pause, he looked between Shadow and Bloom, his expression still stoic but with a touch of concern.

“How are you both fairing after the storm?” he asked, his voice slightly softer than usual, though his gaze remained sharp.

She glanced at Ripple briefly, her tone quiet but steady as she noted the hint of disdain in his voice. “I get it. But we’re in this now. No turning back.” Her eyes flicked over to the group of rogues who had crept in behind her, staying too close for her comfort. She could feel their eyes on her, their presence like a weight that made it harder to breathe.

Lily’s patience thinned, but she refused to let the annoyance show. She needed to stay calm, stay sharp. She turned her focus back to the surroundings, making sure everything was just as it should be. The river, the thicket, the scattered stones—all perfect for what was to come.

Her ears flicked as one of the rogues moved a little too close, their scent brushing against her fur. It was distracting, irritating, and yet she forced herself to ignore it. They were supposed to accompany Ripple and her on this mission, but their intent was never clear, and Lily could feel the unease creeping under her skin.

“Keep your eyes sharp. Don’t let them get too close before we make our move,” she said, her words low and controlled. "When they do show, we’ll be ready."

Lily briefly glanced over her shoulder at the rogues again, sensing their growing anticipation. She could feel their eyes on her, but she wasn’t about to show weakness now, not when it was all riding on this. She squared her shoulders and let out a slow breath.

“We wait,” she murmured, her voice just above a whisper, as if speaking louder might break the fragile silence. "And when they come, we strike."

Shadow Of Burning Fire- f- 48 moons (4 y)- Maiden- scent: Lotus most likely- crush: Snarl Of Angry Dog- kits: she’ll have two- Flame of the Forest (presumed dead) x Shade of a Tree (presumed dead), Shade in the Forest- Tags: Bloom

The red and black and white calico looked at Bloom. She purred a bit as she looked at her, and said “I’m glad you’re okay. I um…I’m asking because I was trying to help Snow…It looked like he was talking to one of the cats but they didn’t answer him…Anyway, he probably doesn’t need to check anyone anymore. Whisper is here, so any cat could go to her, but it seemed like Tempest asked him to do checks.” She shook her head a couple times. Then smiled kindly as she also looked at Dark.

    -continued below-

The calico she cat knew he must have noticed her nervousness. Any cat would have been able to sense it from her. She was sure even Bloom could now tell she was nervous. She shook her head a couple times, reaching up to paw at her muzzle a couple times. She then put her ears back a moment. Before perking them once more, and flicking her tail back and forth. Not super fast, but not terribly slow either. She let out a gentle purr when he agreed to stay there with them, and she said “Ah, yes…thank you for the food.”

She watched as he placed down the seagull he’d brought them. She began to grab at feathers, removing them since cats shouldn’t consume feathers. She placed the feathers off to the side. They might be able to use them in the nests, or save them for when the kits were born and old enough to play. She didn’t know about that…She thought they might be able to save them until then. She noticed how his gaze lingered on her. She felt her fur grow hot, and she looked away a moment…before looking at him again and nodding to him.

She twitched her ears a couple times, and flicked her tail again. She then sighed a bit…but nodded and said “Of course. You probably…have other duties to attend to.” That or he wanted to sleep, it was probably going to be time to sleep again soon. She shook her head a couple times. Looking from him to Bloom, then back to the sailor male once more. She continued to quietly purr, and listened as he questioned the two of them. She looked at her friend a moment…then looked at Snarl and said “It was scary…but I’m fine now.”

The beautiful but also somewhat handsome white cat twitched his ears. He flicked his tail back and forth gently a couple times. He stared up at the sky…then shook his head.
