Newstar awoke to a commotion at the camp entrance. They stuck their head out from under the jonboat just in time to hear Copperleaf yowl, "What's wrong with you?! You can't just leave them here!" Whoever she was talking to said something Newstar couldn't hear as they bolted across the camp clearing. Glassfang was already next to Copperleaf, trying to calm her down, and other clan cats were approaching to find out what was going on. As Newstar drew closer to the cats gathered at the entrance, they could hear the mewling of kits - two kits, in fact, curled up at Copperleaf's feet. Newstar caught a glimpse of a retreating molly who quickly disappeared between the sand dunes.
Copperleaf saw Newstar approach and whirled to face them, standing protectively over the newborn kits. "Newstar! I-- A rogue I met a few moons ago; she-- I didn't think-- I have no way to--" Newstar held up their tail for silence. "You don't have to explain yourself," they said gently. "Let's have Sunstone look them over and go from there."

Sunstone declared both kits were in perfect health. One kit had a kink in her tail, but the medicine cat determined it was natural and not from an injury. Redfur barely needed any convincing to nurse the tiny kits. Her own three kits had just begun to eat freshkill, and she assured both Sunstone and Pineclaw that nursing Copperleaf's kits would not be a strain on her.

Later that afternoon, Copperleaf and Shinepaw sat quietly outside the nursery, listening to the happy mewling of their new family members. Shinepaw looked up at his mother. "Don't forget: You gotta name 'em!"
Copperleaf shook herself out of a daze and nodded decidedly. For the kit with fire in her fur: "Flamekit," and for the kit whose fur was almost as bright as Shinepaw's: "Brightkit."

"Ow! What--" "You fleabrain!" growled Driftwood. "Why didn't you tell me you had kits with that molly?" Copperleaf shook the pain from her head and snarled half-heartedly. "I didn't know I had! I thought... I don't know what I thought," she sighed. Driftwood huffed. "That's 'cause you weren't thinkin'. I always said Cooper's Mate had all the brains between y'all, didn't I?"
Copperleaf smiled sadly. "That you did. And you were right." They walked for a bit in contemplative silence before she spoke up again. "Do you think she'd...?"
"Are you kiddin'?" Driftwood snorted. "If she was alive, she'd prob'ly claw your ears." The old cat gazed out to the horizon; a thin straight line between sea and sky. "But I think she'd want you to move on. Not that I think you have, mind."" She laid her fluffy tail over Copperleaf's back. "But I'd bet you bones to birdflesh her spirit's watchin' over those two li'l kits. They got starlight in their eyes."

Hazelstar sat talking with the warrior she requested at BeamStone. Explaining their traditions an the warrior code to him. Hearing a yowl of pain from the nursery, and smiled knowing more kits where coming. "Hopefully healthy," she murmured, nervous that Silversnow as having them at this time. Watching Finchfire head over, she blinked. "Go ahead and ask Graystorm if you can join a patrol," she murmured to the warrior she was with, thinking about joining on herself. I do want to keep a few cats in camp to guard Silversnow, she thought. Jumping down, she headed over to Graystrom and told him to keep a few warriors in camp." Graystorm nodded, already knowing why Hazelstar requested that and started sorting out patrols.

A moon had passed since the death of Juniper, and Ash still hadn't regained her clanmates' trust. Well, not all of her clanmates'. A few, like Melpomene, Aspenpelt and, surprisingly, Thalia, the one who got her into this situation, seemed to be on her side. However, by far the most infuriating thing about this whole situation was that nobody had even wanted to hear her out. After all, who wouldn't have fled if... a fox was chasing them... about to sink its fangs into her throat... and then a blueish cat had jumped, leaped onto the predator... and as she stood up, the cat had gotten viciously thrown onto the ground, never to get up again...
Ash hasn't remembered much beyond that point. A cat - Juniper, most likely, - had saved her, and then... she fled. A cowardly move, really.

"..hey.. Hey...? HELLOOO, Thalia to Ash-place, do you copy?" Frantic yet amused paws in front of her face snapped Ash out of whatever spiral she had fallen into, and she flicked her eyes up to look at the sky-blue eyes belonging to perhaps the greatest conundrum this group had ever taken in. "...what do you want?" Ash cautiously asked the she-cat, who seemed to be more concerned with her own bushy tail than Ash herself. "Oh, don't be like that! I haven't even done aaaaanything to you..." she smirked and continued, "Well. That's not my point, anyways... Right! I remembered. Mothstar wants to see you in their den." Ash nodded in thanks and began moving towards the leader's den.

Obviously, a certain someone just had to get one last quip in. "Don't worry them too much! Our leader's got kits to look aft-!" Without looking back, Ash just knew that Blackfin had swatted at Thalia with his paws. How those two became friends was beyond her, really.

The molly brushed past the light grey flower vines at the entrance of the den before announcing her presence. "Mothstar, I heard you wanted to see me?" Mothstar turned around from whatever tinkering they had been up to. "Oh! Hello, Ash. Their tail waved back and forth, and Ash followed its movements for a bit before opening her mouth. "So, erm..." Mothstar began. "I've noticed there's been some tension in the clan. Especially between you and Rustbriar - you can't even look in the same direction without baring your teeth!" Ash parted her jaws a bit in order to protest that last part, but decided against it after a warning look from Mothstar, who continued speaking. "Ash, could you tell me what's the issue? Did something happen between you two? Is it because of Juniper or something else?" The molly winced and nervously looked around the den. "Ah.. um, well. I suppose," she began, "um, yeah. There's been an issue. And... and..." Mothstar reached out with their tail and soothingly brushed her pelt, encouraging her to continue. "It's all my fault-! All of it! Juniper died... because of me. I fled. I'm a mouse-hearted coward who couldn't even keep her claws on the fox!" Ash spat out before freezing and slowly turning her head upwards to look directly at Mothstar with a look of anguish.

"What am I even supposed to do? I deserve this, don't I...?" Mothstar huffed and gently struck her ears with their paws. "No. You don't. No one does. It's a perfectly normal reaction, Ash. You were scared, and that's okay." Ash scrunched her face up. "But... everyone else would've fought. Even the apprentices. I'm the only one who..." Mothstar interrupted them. "Dapplesplash left her clan mid-battle. Does that make her a coward?" The molly shook her head. "She- Dapplesplash probably had a good reason to." "Then, what about me?" Mothstar tilted their head in question. "I fled even without a clash. Before you interrupt," Mothstar added, knowing that Ash's jaws would open soon, "no. There was no reason. Not in that moment, atleast. But me leaving, that- that led to the death of many. Does that make me a bad warrior? A bad cat?" Ash paused for a while and shook her head again.
Mothstar smiled. "What does that make you, then?" Her face smoothed out and she slightly smiled. "Not a coward. Just a bit frightened, then." They both let out matching huffs. Mothstar's face soon turned serious once more. "Although... now that that's cleared up, I'd like to suggest you apologize to Rustbriar. It'll make you both feel a bit better and maybe glaze things over. I know it's scary, but you atleast have to try. Um, that's all I wanted from you, really." Ash wiped her face with a paw and stared with a determined glint in her eyes. "Okay, Mothstar."

She turned to leave, and as she was about to cross the flowered curtains, Mothstar heard a slight whisper they could only barely make out. "and... thank you." They turned to their next tinkering project (yay, wooden spinning circle!) and huffed. "Anytime, Ash."

sootstar made his way closer to the camp, his head held high as he thought of the events of the last moon. he was successfully starting the rebuilding of mossclan, with two new cats at his side whose personalities sootstar found useful. neither of the two knew of the destruction his old home suffered but they were just as determined as him to make the clan work. granted the pair had their quirks..
"i told you that's not how you're meant to do it!" he heard dappledsun's frustrated meow as he neared the camp entrance. sootstar sighed but amusement bubbled in his chest, the pair were great cats but sometimes they bickered like kits over a mossball. he squeezed his way through the entrance just as icewing growled "and i told you there is more than just 'your way' of things". the pair were working on weaving materials together to create dens. they both had a lot of skill when it came to survival in an area like this which was both a blessing and a curse.
sootstar sat at the entrance, watching the two grumble at each other before dappledsun jumped. "oh sootstar!" the leader clearly went unnoticed. he held back a purr of amusement before he padded up to them to look at their work. "sorry we didn't hear you come back.." the she-cat meowed, her paws shuffling awkwardly in the grass. despite the pair's arguing the work was spectular, exactly what the mossclan camp needed. icewing sat in silence, acknowledging sootstar with a dip of his head as he continued working. sootstar playfully flicked his tail over dappledsun's ear.
"once that bit is done, you two deserve some rest before we are all back to work." sootstar spoke pointing with his muzzle at the bit icewing was working on. dappledsun quickly bounced back after he spoke and nodded her head before continuing the job. sootstar finally felt some happiness after moons of emptiness.
