Starlight Pack |Female | Luna |4 years | crush: open | tags: Cypher, Kiyu
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Destiny's ears perked at Cypher’s words, the teasing laced with a depth she wasn’t sure she was ready to face. Her heart beat a little faster than usual, but she kept her smirk steady, making sure not to let it slip into something more vulnerable. He had a way of doing that, making everything feel lighter but more intense at the same time.

“Impressive, huh?” she chuckled, tilting her head as she turned to face him again, her eyes gleaming with playful challenge. “You should’ve seen it. I was quick, and I knew the best ways to slip past the patrols.” She stopped, though, at the question he posed. The one that felt like it was more than just casual curiosity. Destiny’s thoughts swirled as the idea of no pack lines, no responsibilities, seemed to stretch out in front of her like an open sky. It was a strange thought—one that felt both exhilarating and terrifying. What would she do if there were no boundaries? What would she chase after then?

For a moment, the sharp edge of her usual confidence dulled as she felt something else—something closer to longing. “Well,” she began, voice softer than usual, “maybe I’d keep running. But not from anything... from nothing." She paused, meeting his gaze with a rare vulnerability. “Maybe I’d go to the places I’ve only ever dreamed of, without worrying what I might leave behind. I could stand on top of a mountain and feel the wind all around me, no walls, no boundaries.”

Her eyes narrowed slightly, smirking again, the walls returning. “But I’m not some lost pup who needs saving, Cypher.” She shifted, trying to regain her old, sharp self, but there was a hint of something else now, a new layer to the challenge she’d thrown his way. “So, what about you? You talk about me breaking rules, but what would you do without all the pack’s expectations? Ever think about what you’d really want?”

Her words hung in the air, a mix of playful bravado and genuine curiosity. She knew he was watching her carefully, his unreadable gaze like a challenge in itself. But Destiny felt it—there was something real between them now, something more than just teasing, even if she wasn’t sure what it was yet.

Destiny’s eyes flickered over to Cypher for a brief moment before she turned her attention fully to Kiyu, the young wolf's words pulling her back into the present. The playful challenge in her voice never fully left, but the edges softened slightly as Kiyu dropped the elk leg at their paws. Destiny’s lips curled into a smile as she let out a light chuckle.

"Good morning, Kiyu," she greeted, her tone carrying warmth but still sharp enough to keep the playful tension in the air. She gave a brief nod toward Cypher, her gaze lingering on him for a heartbeat longer than necessary, before returning her focus to the elk leg. "That was quite the delivery, bringing this all the way here." She allowed her eyes to trail down to the meat with an approving look before meeting Kiyu’s gaze again.

Her playful smirk returned, eyes narrowing slightly as she leaned in a bit closer, her voice teasing. "But you’re not trying to get me to let everyone else eat first, are you?" She allowed the silence to hang in the air for just a moment, then added, "Well, I suppose I could share... if Cypher is up for it." The words were light, but Destiny’s gaze was sharp, as if daring him to respond.

She could feel the space between them stretch again, that flicker of something real lingering in the air, even as she kept her usual confident front. It wasn’t just teasing anymore. There was something more beneath it, something waiting to unfold. But for now, she would keep up the challenge, at least until she was ready to let it slip.

Destiny chuckled softly as she watched Kiyu scurry off, her teasing remark lingering in the air. She shook her head in amusement before glancing at Cypher. "She never changes, does she?" There was warmth in her tone, a quiet appreciation for Kiyu's unwavering dedication to the pack. Her gaze shifted toward the hunters in the distance, noting how seamlessly Kiyu fit into the rhythm of their routine. It was a subtle yet powerful reminder of how much their pack had endured and how each member played a part in holding them together.

With a contented sigh, Destiny turned her focus back to her meal, but not before murmuring under her breath, "She may not realize it, but the pack is lucky to have her."

Blaze’s gaze softened as he met Nova’s eyes, the weight of everything pressing down on him. He had always kept his emotions locked away, buried deep inside, trying to protect the parts of him that still ached. But with Nova, it was different. She was the one who had been there from the beginning, who saw through the walls he built. The trust they had developed over the past year was something he had never experienced before, and right now, he needed her more than ever. Since she had arrived at the pack they had this unspoken understanding. It was something Blaze couldn't ever place into words.

He took a deep breath, his voice quiet but full of emotion. “I’ve never been good at talking about this, Nova. I’ve always kept things in, buried them because it felt easier that way. But with you... it’s like you know. You’ve always known, and that makes it easier to let go.”

Blaze paused, eyes dropping to the ground for a moment, his shoulders heavy with the memories. "After the avalanche... I thought I had to be strong for everyone. We lost so much—our home, our pack. It felt like the world was just... gone. And I couldn't let that happen to us again. I had to protect Niko, keep things together for him, and for Gauge. I thought if I could just make sure they were okay, everything would fix itself. I rushed into things, trying to give Niko the family he deserved, trying to force everything into place.” He paused again, guilt creeping in. "But I wasn’t being honest with myself. I didn’t give myself the space to heal. I didn’t give myself the chance to just... breathe.”

His amber eyes flickered up to meet hers, raw and vulnerable. "I never expected you to see me like this. I’ve always kept my distance from affection. I didn’t know how to embrace it... how to let myself lean on anyone. But when you... when you leaned into me earlier, I didn’t pull away. I embraced it. I needed it more than I thought. And when you stepped back, I felt... I felt the space between us. I know I'm not affectionate - but, that moment was oddly comforting. It’s like... like I didn’t have to carry everything alone for just a second.”

Blaze let out a shaky breath, the vulnerability pouring out now that the walls had cracked. “I thought if I kept pushing forward, I could protect everyone from the pain. But I’ve been running from my own. I don’t know if I’m doing the right thing. I don’t know if I’m doing enough, and I don’t know how to balance all of it—Niko, Gauge, everything. I thought I had to be everything for them, but in doing that, I lost sight of what I needed... of who I am.”

His voice broke slightly, but he steadied himself, looking deep into Nova’s eyes. “You’ve been the one constant for me, Nova. You’ve seen me at my worst and never once turned away. I can’t tell you how much that means to me. I’ve never let anyone in like this... but with you, I don’t feel like I have to hide.” Blaze’s expression softened as he let out a breath he didn’t realize he had been holding. “I don’t have all the answers. I don’t know what the future holds or if I’ll figure this out. But just talking to you... just letting it out... it’s helping. It’s like a weight’s lifting, even if just a little.”

Blaze’s amber eyes softened as a small, sincere smile tugged at the corners of his lips. “I’m trying, Nova. I don’t know if I’ll ever get everything right, but knowing you can see that i'm doing my best is more than enough. This pack means everything to me” He paused, then added quietly, “I just needed you to hear me. To know that I’m not always as strong as I seem. And that... I’m grateful for you. More than you’ll ever know.”

River kept her stride steady as they approached the camp, but her gaze lingered on Hyuuga for a moment, her expression softening. She could sense his hesitance—there was something about him that didn’t fully settle into the present, as if he were still holding on to something from the past. It wasn’t hard to figure out that he was still grappling with the weight of everything that had happened. She had seen that kind of reluctance before, in others, and she understood it.

When he glanced at her, River offered a reassuring smile, her tail flicking a little in a relaxed gesture. She wasn’t sure if he would respond to it, but she wanted him to know that there was no rush. "Ready for what, exactly?" River asked softly, though it wasn’t a question she expected him to answer right away. “You’ve already been through a lot, and we’re here for you—however long it takes.”

Her voice was calm, gentle even, but there was a quiet authority to it. River wasn’t a leader in the traditional sense, but she had always been a rock for others when they needed it, a constant when the world around them shifted too fast. She could tell Hyuuga needed that, even if he didn’t know it yet. Her eyes flicked back toward the camp, noticing the familiar scents and sounds of home. It was strange to think about how much had changed over the moons, how different everything felt now. But in the end, they were still family. They would rebuild, just as they always did.

"Whenever you’re ready," she added, her tone inviting, but not pushing. "We’ve got time."

Nova
[ Rank ] Redmoon Luna [ Age ] 3 Years Old [ Crush ] Open [ Tag ]Blaze + River, Willow, Gauge, and Hyuuga

Her smile disappeared, the puddle of emotions swiftly accumulated into a river. Between his body language and his words, she was running out of ideas to help him move forward. Nova's ears cranked back against her skull, he was a lost soul. The avalanche destroyed the spirit of many in Redmoon. It took away everything that they loved and cherish - excluding the ones present today. The high ranks had shifted, which Nova was delighted for. Redmoon needed this change more than anything, she just wished it wasn't at a cost.

She leaned in towards him again, nuzzling him to comfort. "It's a lot and a lot has changed since then. It has only been three moons, don't be so hard on yourself." she spoke, this time the emotion leaving her voice. If anything she lacked no confident and aimed to be inspiring. Her ears perked up again, leaning forward in his direction as she retreated to her resting place. Her eyes followed him to the floor and soon her body did too. She laid next to him, but left a little space between them. Nova wanted to be close enough that she could comfort him if needed.

Nova's dirty cream eyebrows arched, she turned her maw towards him before saying, "You don't have to be strong all the time. A good friend of mine told me that." she responded, referring to him. It was hard, but during her time as their Beta - she felt as if she were trying to keep things together on her own. Sometimes, she could still catch herself doing it, but when she needed an ear - Blaze would always remind her that the weight of the world didn't fall on her. "He also told me that I don't have to do everything alone. I'm sure he knows that in due time he will navigate these obstacles in life." she lifted her head towards the sun, peering from behind the grey clouds. Beams of amber shining brighter than the North Star caressing the snowy earth beneath it. Luna Nova closed her eyes again, taking a beat in between his spews.

"Sometimes my friend, challenges arrise and we may not know how to handle them." Her heart ached for him, for all of them and the vast changes they've had to adjust to. Some took the change a bit easier than others, however, no two wolves were the same. "Embrace a challenge like the sun when it graces our fur with its' heat." Nova scrunched her brow, at her attempt to be wise - not in uncertainty. "Take things one at a time. When you're calm, talk to your family, especially Gauge." While Nova wasn't exactly Gauge's biggest fan, she still wanted to see the both of them happy - together.

Before she could muster up something else to try and cheer him up, something he had said held a hold on her. She was a constant in his life, isn't that what friends were for? Was he secretly admitting to something else? He couldn't be, he loved Gauge and she knew that. "Remember when we met, you and Dante had a face off at the border. Not long after that I told you and the rest of the pack that I am not going anywhere. The only way I am leaving is through death, not a moment sooner." she declared confidently, a glimmer of strength raging through her. "I'm always here, you know that. I vowed to take care of you all, all of you are my family and friends." She wanted to mention how easy life would be with having a leader whom actually cared for all of them. No matter who, Nova always wanted to help and secure the life they all deserved.

Nova nosed him one last time, reeling herself in and noting that Blaze was okay. "If you ever need your Luna, I'm always a howl away." She spoke with charm. "Now let's get up, go for a stroll and find the others. Everyone has been gone for a while." It wasn't that she was trying to change the subject nor disregard him, but noting the pack's silence flicked a light on for her. And it could be easier to process things while keeping busy. She rose to her paws, feeling the icy cold snow beneath her paw pads, the spokes of grass blades peering from underneath. "I appreciate you for listening to me and opening up when you needed to." she affectionately licked the wolves cheek. She dropped their eye contact, deeply inhaling to release the tense emotions she felt from their conversation. It was relieving to finally sit and talk out many things. Especially with all the built up going around.

The Luna was ready to take off to find the others, it had been far too quiet for too long. With the fighters back, the hunters could go on a larger hunting party. Hopefully gather an elk or two and feed these hungry wolves. She panned the area again, but this time a gaggle of wolves caught her mind. "Come on Blaze!" she chirped, another effort to cheer him up. Pack mates - being around others brought her so much peace. She slowly walked towards the group, but waited until they were closer to camp. Her gaze landed on one wolf in particular, "Hyuuga, is that you?" she called over to the group.

[ Rank ] Redmoon Fighter [ Age ] 1 Year Old [ Crush ] open [ Tag ] Nanuq

Niko silently observed his uncle, ears perked for proper hearing. He pondered in thought over Nanuq's words. Thinking can be a dangerous thing - not sure what Nanuq meant by the phrase. It had to be something wise, way beyond his years. The fighter shook his head - releasing himself from the confusing thoughts. He let out a light chuckle, amused in the choice of words. "I have a lot to discover about myself. Don't you think?" his head cocked. Certainly, Niko wouldn't be fully developed at his young age. This would be his first year with some type of independence being that his mother had to keep her eyes on the younger two pups.

He grunted in disapproval of finding anything. The only thing out there that wasn't necessarily nature - was Niko and now Nanuq. "No, the quiet is a bit eerie." he began, Niko's deep brown eyes panned over the grounds around them. Snow melting under the suns golden beams, exposing the earth's greens beneath them. Spring finally waking up - no more snow. A sigh of relief escaped at the realization of what's to come. Warmer weather and no more avalanches - for now.

A bushy tail flicked behind him full of content. He could not be more grateful to have his uncle around. Nanuq eased into things, often times providing an insight on simple things that crossed Niko's ever racing mind. "I'm heading back, I'm sure my parents are dying to know my where about" sarcasm carried well in his town and if he could, he'd roll his eyes. He was sure they were off doing their duties, at least his dad would be. It was a shot in the dark, but Niko was guessing Gauge returned back to the pack. Especially with no one to look after the pups, Niko wasn't going to do it. If it wasn't evident that he was not pleased about gaining new family members, he was exactly a softie for pups. Sometimes he wondered how anyone managed caring for them for such a period of time.

Niko's frame rose atop of his ash brown paws, ready to take himself back to the campground. If Nanuq was here, to him that meant his parents weren't far behind from coming to find them. He wasn't exactly in the mood for a family meeting. Niko met the gaze of Nanuq, "You never answered my question. Why are YOU out here?" he questioned again, typically the hunters and fighters didn't run in tight circles, unless told to.

Redmoon

Gauge- f- 3 y 3 mo- Fighter- bi- mate: Blaze- Niko/Kizo and Kioku- brought Azure to pack- Tags: River, Akiro, Hyuuga, Willow

The black phase she wolf tilted her head when Hyuuga spoke but then paused. Since, that point, he was speaking of Chi, she got it. She assumed he was trying to ask about the pups. She said “If…if you’re worried about the pups, they actually survived. I took them on, and have been raising them. Two little girls as pretty as their mother was,” she said with a small smile. She flicked her tail quickly back and forth a couple times. Almost as though she were wagging it, or honestly…not almost, she definitely was wagging her tail.

She nodded to the others, and led the way back. She paused once the camp had come into view, and she turned back to them. Asking “Hyuuga…are you ready?” as he’d seemed hesitant or worried before. Honestly, he could be both hesitant and worried.

Akiro- m- 2 y 3 mo- Fighter- homosexual- crush: Castor maybe, definitely Koll- Tags: Gauge, River, Hyuuga, Willow

The reddish looking male twitched darker ears. His darker tipped tail flicked, and he smiled a canine smile, just a bit. A ‘happy face’ as the humans would call it. He wagged his tail just a bit, and nodded at Willow when she responded to him about the wolf her own age. He said “there’s also a pup that I think is only five months younger than you. Plus the two she pups. The ones Gauge just spoke to Hyuuga about.” He said these words after Gauge had told Hyuuga that the two pups had survived.

He then followed after the dark furred female. Looking back at the others from time to time, as River and Willow conversed. He could see those two becoming friends, perhaps. They arrived to the camp, and Gauge was asking Hyuuga if he was ready.

Azure- m- 7 mo- pup- likes boys- crush: Eros- Tags: Kizo, Kioku

The blue-gray pup and white pup tilted his head as he looked at the two of them. “Why do you two seem so disappointed?” he asked. He then shook his head, before nodding at them both. “It definitely is boring at times…I agree, let’s plan as we eat.” He sniffed the air a bit, then shook his head.

Starlight

Yuui- m- 9 mo- pup- boys- crush: Eros- Tags: Goliath

The pretty but still handsome male blinked his blue and brown eyes. He nodded as he looked at the bigger male. He’d tilted his head when the other had paused and stood normally. When the other began to speak, now Yuui understood, so he nodded. He said “Okay,” and let the other come over by him. He let the other male place his paws properly, so Yuui had the proper stance. He really didn’t know about fighting…but he was going to learn. He’d probably end up becoming a hunter. Knowing fighting moves was definitely good, though. He said “Don’t let them have the advantage…right,” and flicked his tail a couple times.” He nodded once more at the bigger male. Saying “Don’t intimidate, I’m there to prove myself…I understand.”

He then twitched as he heard a howl…Glancing to Goliath, he said “Oh…the hunters must have brought food back. Should we…should we continue, or wait until after the meal?” He was asking to be polite, but he realized he actually was kind of hungry.

Kuroyuki- m, f at times- 2 y 9 mo- hunter- crush: Mikage, Ermin- Tags: Ermin, Yomi, Kuroi, Kiyu

The black phase one flicked their white tipped tail back and forth. He turned his attention to Ermin, and nodded at him. They said “I don’t know if the two of them would have left camp just to talk…I guess they could have left the camp, though.” He twitched his ears and flicked his tail, looking around once more.

When Kiyu returned, he nodded to her. He glanced around, but didn’t see too many of the others, so he glanced to the meat. He then lifted his muzzle to the air, and let out a howl. Telling the others of the pack that there was food here to be eaten. He figured some of them must have smelled it by now. If any of them were out of camp, or somewhere they couldn’t smell it or just weren’t paying attention, he had to account for that. Thus, he let out a bowl. Then waited to see if any wolves showed up, while also nodding to the others that they could eat now.

Miracle- f- 1 y 3 mo- healer- crush: Yomi- Tags: Scythe, Yuui

The golden-cream slender and slightly smaller female nodded at her. She said “I heard the oil is good for pregnant she wolves. I don’t think any of our pack mates are pregnant…Some of them must like fish, though, and I don’t think any of them are allergic.” She lowered her head to quickly peel scales off. She ate the two tiny fish, then went back to the water. Determined to catch a bigger fish or two. She muttered “I’m going to get a bigger fish this time…I definitely will.”

STARLIGHT PACK

SCYTHE
Female healer - crush/ mate are open - tags: Miracle

She narrowed he eyes a bit as the younger female mentioned the pregnant wolves, which they really didn't have or at least she didn't know any of them being pregnant. She sighed a bit as she started to wonder about her own wants to have another litter of pups, she had already Yomi, but she was already old enough to become a hunter. She shook her head a bit as she looked back at Miracle "okay, good luck with that, just don't hurt yourself, I am going to collect some berries I saw on our way here" she said to her.

KUROI
female fighter - crush is Kiyu - tags: Kiyu, hunters, Risen

She narrowed her eyes at her sister's comments and looked at Kiyu as she found her words funny, it did warm her a bit and made her feel rather embarrassed a bit. Her ears perked a bit when the other young hunter got one of the elk's legs a personally delivered it to the luna and the lead hunter, making her look at her with confusion a bit. She gave a quick look at Kuroyuki a bit, hearing the question her sister made, and wondered the same, but didn't say anything about it. She looked around the camp when Kuouki mentioned and she also noticed that not many were that interested in their prey or were too busy with their own things "Hey Risen, dare to have a moment for your job and take a meal?" she called out of another fighter of the pack, who seemed not to be doing anything at the moment, or he was maybe guarding the camp. He looked back at Kiyu after she was back "Wow girl, that was so cool, you're awesome" she spoke to her with a smile.

YOMI
female pup/ training TB hunter - crush is open - tags: Ermin, Kuroyuki, hunters, Yuui, Goliath

She turned to her sister after her comment "What's it, fighter, if we get chased by rabbit, we will come your way so you need to run from them too, hah...what do you think about that plan?" she said to her sister with a small tease. She looked rather confused at first when the Kiyu decided to make the leg delivery to the luna and the lead hunter with her, just for them to eat some "Are we allowed to do that?" she asked at the older hunters blinking her eyes a bit as she shook her head "well, now we can eat and we also can get better parts as not many being interested about this prey yet" she said as she waited for the Kiyu to get back "she was happy with the leg?" she asked her. She looked at her and then around the camp "We forgot someone" she said as she turned around and ran to Yuui and the fighter "Yuui, we got some prey, I helped catch it, hehe, you could come too as there is not many there yet so you could get as much you want and Goliath, you're all welcome to join it too" she said with a small smile and flick of her tail as she looked the two males.

ERMIN
male hunter - crush/mate is Kuroyuki/open - tags: Yomi, Kuroyuki, hunters

...

REDMOON PACK

CASTOR
male lead hunter - crush/ mate maybe Koll/ open - tags: Lab, Kane, Koll, pups

He looked at Kane having this kind of weird expression like he was not sure what he just heard "...I am...I didn't do anything to have you thanking me...I just...did my tasks as a hunter...I guess" he said his eyes wandering away from Kane a bit almost like trying to hide the embarrassment of his words. He could be proud of himself, well maybe he was, but he also felt like he could be better than he is, he is not trying everything he has, but he doesn't find what he is lacking still. He sighed a bit at his younger brother's words "Just go eat the leg Lab, I am informing the luna about the prey..." he responded to him, but didn't face his brother at all. He looked the Koll a bit as he spoke to him, he was even more confused about what was he even talking about, shouting to him about the deer "You're good Koll, I have already forgotten about it so... we've good in here" he responded to him "you could stay and eat, share the leg with your brother and Lab or...share the deer with m...the pack when I inform the Luna about it" he said to him. He gave a look to them all a bit, as he turned around to look at the luna, his eyes turned to the pups there as well "Eat as much you want" he responded to the she-pup as he walked past them toward the Nova and Blaze, but stopped when noticed they may have something else to discuss for now.

LABRADOR
male hunter - crush/mate is Kane/ open - tags: Castor, Kane, Koll

He looked at his older brother as Kane spoke to him with words he could see embarrassing the copper-colored lead hunter a bit "You're too hard on yourself Castor, Liberty didn't choose you as the lead hunter just for pity, he saw your skills and knowledge you're up for the job, now you could start seeing that too" he said to him with a small smirk. He turned to Kane who seemed to have some problems with the leg "Sure, sure, don't break yourself" he said to him as he took a bite of the leg and moved the leg to break the bone to separate it "Here we go" he said. His eyes looked at Koll a bit then back to Kane "What was that?" he asked him.

KIZO
female pup - crush is open - tags: Azure

She looked at Azure after his question "It's just...nevermind, it's nothing we're not disappointed just bored that's all" she said to him then looked after her sister "Yes, yes, let's do something after the food" she said as she turned to walk toward the prey "are you coming or now Azure?" she called for him as she stopped for a moment to wait for him.

KIOKU
female pup - crush is open - tags: Azure, hunters

She looked at Azure as he asked why they were disappointed "What? No, we're not disappointed, you're seeing your own now..." she responded to him as she looked at her littermate and then peeked around to see the two other pups there, which she really didn't see, but know that they where there "yeah we could think something to do after the food as we're not allowed to bother the new pup or Narae..." she said to him as she took her run toward the prey, looking up to the hunters, not seeing the Luna there yet "Uh, can we eat or do we need to wait for Nova too?" she asked the hunters with confusion.

NO PACK YET

HYUUGA
male loner (Redmoon) - crush is Ghost (maybe) - tags: Willow, Gauge, River, Akiro, Nova, Blaze

He looked at the three wolves or two mostly as Akiro was more focused on Willow than him. He looked at Gauge as she mentioned the Chi pups actually surviving and still living with the pack, he found that somehow weird, but he was kind of happy too. He wondered if Chi sacrificed herself for her pup's life, and Maison didn't want to leave the newly made mother behind, as he thought that kind of a wolf Maison really was or maybe it was just the responsibilities of a healer. He nodded a bit as he looked at the female fighter "I see, that's great to hear, and they're going good too..." he responded with simple words. He flicked his tail a bit as they mentioned the former alphas dead but didn't really know what to say about that. He turned to look over the camp entrance a bit when he heard either of the Gauge yet River asking if he was ready to go to the pack "I could be lying if I said I could not be nervous or afraid a bit, I was being gone for a long time and disappeared the most brutal time, so, of course, it 's made me wonder if the pack wants me back, or do they think I betrayed them by leaving instead than protecting the pack for the avalanche" he said with a sight. Of course, he didn't really just leave the pack, he kind of wandered too far from it and needed a few months to get back to his feet to walk back to the pack. He shook his head a bit "I am already at the camp entrance, so I could be stupid to turn away now, right...If they don't want me back then I will just leave" he said to them "I can't get more readier than I am now, so let's do this" he kept saying.
His ears flattened a bit when he saw the former beta now Luna and Blaze approving them "...yes...Luna Nova, it's me..." he said bowing his head a bit "I am back to serve Redmoon If you let me..." he said to her. His eyes looked over to Blaze as well, but for now, he didn't say anything for him, just focused on the Luna.

female loner (Redmoon) - crush will be Niko - tags: Hyuuga, Gauge, River, Akiro, Nova, Blaze

She blinked her ears at Akiro a bit as he spoke to her "Hmm, I can see you like pups...Ehh...what was your name again?" she asked him rather embarrassed as she completely forgot it. She had a hard time remembering Hyuuga's name as it was kind of an interesting name for sure and Gauge and Akiro also had that kind of name, which could take her a little while to remember. She flicked her tail a bit as she listed the male "So how old are you then? You don't look much older than I am..." she asked him out of curiousness for mostly. She looked at River a bit with a smile "Ooh you like to run? So do I, the faster the better right?" she said with a flick of her tail "I know everyone and everything will eventually heal in time, and the past is better to stay in the past, another way it may haunt you and change you, I've seen that...well anyway...I am excited to see your pack the Luna and the...the male near my age...and the pups perhaps..." she said flicking her ears as she started to wonder why did she even say those things, she sounded like some pup now. She turned to Hyuuga as this all was harder for him than for her, she was a new one so she didn't know what to wait and the pack would likely be rather alert about her.
She flicked her tail a bit as she looked at the other two powerful-looking wolves coming their way, hearing Hyuuga mentioning the female wolf as the luna, she also bowed her head and calmed her tail behind her.

Koll
Redmoon Hunter - Crush: Uncertain - Tags: Castor - Labrador, Kane

Koll quickly nodded to Castor,
“O-oh okay. Thank you” he whispered and watched him leave to talk to other wolves. Koll let out a sigh of displeasure, being reminded how much he disliked conversation. Apologising about something that was even noticed is much worse. With another sigh he walked over to the dear and sat next to Kan, quietly chewing at the deer leg.

Kane
Redmoon Hunter- Crush: Labrador - Tags: Castor - Labrador, Koll - Mentions: Gauge

He chuckled at Castor’s reply,
“He secretly is proud of himself…” he mumbled before looking to Labrador who effortlessly ripped the leg off the deer. Impressed by his strength, he looked up at Labrador with a warm smile.
“Thank you, sweet” he spoke softly and sat down close to Labrador and began to dig in, smiling at Koll as he joined in.
A huff came from Kane as Lab asked him. He looked up at him again, leaning in close so Koll couldnt hear his whispers.
“That was quite a common thing. Bless Koll, he doesn’t like to talk much so I mostly do the talking. Been a shy one since birth. Don’t worry, hun, it seems that things are okay for now. In fact…”
He looked over at Koll who was now digging into the deer leg,
“He usually doesn’t eat next to me when other wolves are nearby. He has improved as we've grown up, but I do worry…” he whispered, slowly looking up to Labrador again.
“He doesn’t want to be around anyone but me. He has had no interest in finding a mate. But I am thinking…no I’ve got a plan. I’m gonna go have a chat with a friend after I have my fill.” He explained quietly. His tail starting patting on the ground excitedly.

Starlight Warrior - Crush: Open - Tags: Yuui, Yomi

“Good! Good! This is a good start.” He said, rising to his paws, his tail flicking slowly. His ears perked up to the howl.
“Hmm…I haven’t eaten today and you pups seem to have bottomless stomachs…” he thought out loud before nodding to the pup.
“Very well, let’s go eat and depending on what happens then, we will see to your training after-“ his head then snapped around to lock onto the trainee Hunter. A pup he hadn’t been introduced to. Surprised by her arrival a moment passed before he gave her a warm smile.
“I certainly will. Let’s get going”

𝙳𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚢

(Adding to build off of -- but leaving for when Cypher replies)

Risen glanced at Kuroi when she called out to him, his ears flicking forward in acknowledgment. He didn't respond right away, but gave a small nod in her direction, signaling that he'd heard her. His eyes flicked briefly to the elk, then to Kiyu, who seemed to be getting some attention for her actions. He gave a quick, subtle smile, though it was short-lived as his gaze moved back to Kuroi.

Taking a slow breath, Risen shuffled his paws before giving a small nod again, his tail swishing slightly behind him. He didn't speak much, but his intentions were clear. His gaze shifted toward the meal, then to Kuroi, before he made a simple motion with his head toward the camp, suggesting he was ready to follow.

With a soft grunt, he made his way toward where the food was being served, but kept his distance from the others, his steps light and careful. He didn't want to be in the way, but he did want to have a moment to eat. As he approached the meal, he glanced back at Kuroi once more, giving her a small wave of his paw to indicate he appreciated her offering, his movements quiet and unassuming. He hoped that he didn't come across as rude, he just didn't speak often.

Once near the meal, Risen picked at the food with a quick glance at Kuroi, but didn't speak. His attention returned to the pack around them, watching them silently, his brow furrowed slightly as he gauged their mood. He wasn’t one to speak much, but his presence and the small gestures he made spoke volumes.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Blaze took in every word, feeling the comfort of her presence and the softness in her voice. He wanted to speak, to share more of what weighed on him, but the storm in his heart was too vast, too overwhelming. When Nova spoke again, it was like the final gust of wind lifting the last remnants of his doubt. Her gentle nudge, the steady warmth of her words—they anchored him, even if just for a moment. As Nova spoke of embracing challenges, of not bearing the weight alone, something in him shifted. Maybe she was right—maybe he didn't have to keep everything bottled up. Maybe it was okay to lean on the ones who truly cared, the ones who saw through the darkness. But he was still struggling to find his way, lost in the echoes of everything they'd all lost.

The mention of the vow she'd made, the promise of loyalty and strength, reminded him of the bonds that still held them together. It was something they could all hold on to, even when the world felt like it was crumbling. He tried to give her a reassuring smile, though it came out more like a faint twitch of his lips. She was right. She always was. Nova's strength was something he admired—something he needed more than he realized. “Thanks, Nova,” Blaze murmured, his voice thick with emotion. “I’ll try to keep that in mind... about not being strong all the time.”

Her final words, that she'd always be there for him, hit harder than he expected. It was a reassurance that somehow, in a world full of chaos, he wasn't alone. As she rose to her paws, so did he, the weight on his chest still present but slightly lighter. He nodded, following her lead toward the rest of the pack. “Yeah, let’s go find them,” Blaze agreed, though his voice was tinged with a quiet determination. He wasn’t sure if he was ready to face the others, but he knew Nova was right. It was time to be with his family. He watched as she called out to Hyuuga, the tension in the air shifting just slightly with the presence of others. Maybe, just maybe, things could get better with time.

Blaze walked beside Nova, his steps more measured, yet a little steadier than before. Whatever came next, he knew they’d face it together—pack, family, and the unspoken bond they all shared.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

River tilted her head slightly, her tail swishing thoughtfully. "I do enjoy running," she said with a soft chuckle, her eyes glimmering with a playful spark. "The wind in your fur, the ground beneath your paws... it's like flying. But you're right, faster is always better." Her smile softened as she continued, her tone becoming more serious. "I get what you mean about the past," she added, her gaze drifting for a moment before returning to meet her companion's eyes. "It can weigh heavily on you if you let it. But it’s always about moving forward, right? Every day is a chance to be someone new, to change... even when it's hard." She flicked her ears, a hint of amusement dancing in her gaze as she noticed the way her companion seemed to shift, perhaps second-guessing herself. "And as for the pack..." she paused, a little grin tugging at her lips. "You’ll get to know them soon enough. They're a good group. The Luna and the rest... they'll warm up to you. It takes time. And the pups, well, they’ll probably end up chasing you around before you know it."

River's smile faded slightly as her gaze flicked over to Hyuuga, understanding the weight of the moment. "It’s not always easy, being the new one," she murmured, her voice softer now. "But you're tougher than you know, and the pack will see that. Just give it time."
River’s ears flicked back slightly as she listened to the conversation around her, a soft smile tugging at her lips when Willow mentioned the pups. The thought of them reuniting made her feel a little lighter, though she remained quiet, not wanting to interrupt. She noticed Willow’s excitement about seeing the pack and the Luna, and she felt a flicker of anticipation herself. It had been a long time since River had been in the camp with the full pack - and why they were still missing wolves from the avalanche. The return of some truly made an impact. She glanced over at Hyuuga, who seemed nervous, and then back to Willow, offering her a reassuring glance. She gave Willow a wag of her tail "It'll be okay" she reassured.

As they neared the camp entrance, River’s thoughts shifted to the pack. She had been a part of Redmoon for a while, but with everything that had happened—the avalanche, the changes—there was still a sense of unease. Things were always changing, constantly. And so far it seemed like it was changing for the better. She couldn't lie and say she wasn't anxious of another life changing event to happen in the pack.

When the camp came into view, River saw the familiar figures of Nova and Blaze, standing at the entrance. Her heart gave a small lurch as she realized this was the moment the wolves beside her were the most nervous for. She took a deep breath and lowered her head respectfully toward Nova. Before her gaze turned towards Willow and Hyuuga. She didn’t know what to expect, but she hoped Nova would welcome their return. River glanced at Blaze briefly, but for now, her focus remained on Nova. There was a quiet resolve in her—no matter the past, she knew the pack needed.

Redmoon

Gauge- f- 3 y 3 mo- Fighter- bi- mate: Blaze- Niko/Kizo and Kioku- Tags: Akiro/ River, Hyuuga, Willow, Blaze, Nova

The black phase she wolf smiled a canine smile. She said “I was able to keep them alive,” but wouldn’t elaborate on that. Not unless he actually asked, which she didn’t think he would. She was fine with that, it hardly mattered anyway. What mattered was the fact the two pups were happy and healthy. Gauge had adopted them just like she’d adopted Niko. She’d sort of adopted Azure too, but he really seemed closer to Akiro. She often wondered why, but it didn’t really bother her. She wagged her tail a bit as he then spoke. She nodded when he said it was great to hear they were doing good. She was so proud of the two pups. Even though they were only three months old, and really hadn’t done much yet. She was a mother, of sorts, she could be proud of them. Proud of how they were growing up, proud of the fact both seemed so kind already. Shaking her head, she focused on the male wolf again. She nodded, then said “Of course they’ll want you back…It’s not like you went to the other pack. It’s not like you ran away and tried to become a loner, you didn’t do either of those things. They don’t see you as a traitor,” she said. Though she really couldn’t speak for Nova… She had to assume the other would welcome Hyuuga back, though. She twitched then perked her ears, and flicked her tail. She’d stopped wagging it, so now she just flicked it back and forth. She turned her head when Nova and Blaze walked over. She had no reason to be jealous of her now. Blaze had become Gauge’s mate, and she believed he was faithful. She wasn’t going to worry about him stepping out on her. She wasn’t the kind of mate that would think those kinds of things.

Akiro- m- 2 y 3 mo- Fighter- homosexual- crush: Castor maybe, definitely Koll- Tags: Gauge/same

The reddish looking male twitched darker ears. His darker tipped tail flicked, and he nodded at the younger she wolf. He said “I do, maybe I’ll adopt some of my own one day.” He’d definitely adopt pups even if he never got a mate, but he had his eye on a particular wolf. Shaking his head, he said “Oh, my name is Akiro.” He then nodded as she said he didn’t look much older. He chuckled, saying “I guess I’m not much older than you. I’m two years old, and like three months but I guess the months part doesn’t matter.” He shook his head once more. He then glanced to River, as Willow looked to her. Those two began to converse now, so he stayed silent for a bit. His tail flicked back and forth gently behind him. When the younger she wolf spoke again, she spoke of healing. He nodded and said “That’s true, time will heal everything that’s happened.” He then tilted his head as she continued to speak. She sounded so wise for a wolf that was only a year old. He chuckled again as she spoke of the pups and Niko. He smiled a canine smile, saying “His name is Niko, by the way. The wolf that is close in age to you,” then noticed luna Nova and Blaze. He fell silent as he saw them…and dipped his head to Nova.

Azure- m- 7 mo- pup- likes boys- crush: Eros- Tags: Kizo, Kioku

The blue-gray pup and white pup sighed as he listened to her. He didn’t quite believe that…but he just nodded at her. He said “We can play, or find something else to do, after we eat then.” Since she’d claimed she was just bored, he made this offering to her. He shook his head when Kioku called Eros new again…He was pretty sure Eros was originally from this pack, but he said nothing. He then tilted his head a bit. Running over, but then saying “I think we do have to wait for her to get food first…”

Starlight

Yuui- m- 9 mo- pup- boys- crush: Eros- Tags: Goliath

The pretty but still handsome male blinked his blue and brown eyes. He nodded as he looked up at the much bigger wolf. He said “Thank you,” when the other seemed to be praising him. He then yipped a giggle, saying “I guess we do eat a lot.” He then nodded again as the other agreed to getting food. He wagged his tail a bit, then Yomi was approaching them. He noticed how she seemed to giggle at him…and he shook his head at her. Yet he said “Good job on the hunt, on helping to catch it.”

Kuroyuki- m, f at times- 2 y 9 mo- hunter- crush: Mikage, Ermin- Tags: Ermin, Yomi, Kuroi, Kiyu

The black phase one flicked their white tipped tail back and forth. He -going to wait a post or two-

Miracle- f- 1 y 3 mo- healer- crush: Yomi- Tags: Scythe, Yuui

The golden-cream slender and slightly smaller female yawned. She shook her head a couple times, then blinked her eyes. She quickly focused on the other she wolf, and nodded at her. She said “Okay,” and focused her attention onto the water once more. “I won’t hurt myself,” she then quickly said to the healer. Before watching the fish again, and seeing a medium sized one swimming around. She waited, and waited…then ducked her head in. She just barely missed the fish…and sighed as she lifted her head.

Nova
[ Rank ] Redmoon Luna [ Age ] 3 Years Old [ Crush ] Open [ Tag ]Blaze + River, Willow, Gauge, and Hyuuga

The Redmoon Luna gave a gentle smile, ecstatic to have her pack-mates return unharmed. She mentally noted that they found another two wolves in less than a day, at this rate they'd be back at their original numbers in no time. Nova dipped in response to both wolves, "Welcome to our new home, Hyuuga. It's good to see you." her cheerful tone in plain view for the others. "Are you hurt or in need of medical attention? Either of you." as she spoke her eyes slowly moved from Hyuuga to Willow. While she did not remember the she wolf being a part of their pack, she would welcome anyone who meant no harm.

Her tail slowly waved behind her, in light of her excitement to gain more pack members. Nova's eyes fell to the others who had already seemed to welcome this stranger into the pack. Slowly, she approached Willow walking between the wolves and sniffed her - without being. too oblivious. "I don't recall seeing you before." her voice shifted, filling with a curious note and seeming cautious. She could not be too careful when it came to letting others in - especially without knowing their true intentions. She flickered her ear a few times when the wind would kick again. Her paws shuffled through the damp grass, still sifting snow through her pads. The Luna returned to Blaze's side, but left enough space for another to fit between them. "What is your name, dear?" she questioned. In her mind, she had already made up her mind on what she wanted to do, but wanted a bit more intel before she fully let Willow in.

Despite trusting her pack members to make a good judgement of strays, Nova was still weary. After all, who could blame her when they were struck with Shyfawn so many times. A traitor who's name didn't deserve a second thought. "Thank you all for finding these two. Hyuuga.." she called, observing the wolves current condition. He seemed to be fine in her eyes. "If you need it, our new healer Koa will be in the healer's den." She nodded, signaling him off.

Nova took a good gander at the others between them. A snippet of a memory from the old pack, when all the lower ranks stood around listening to a higher having a private discussion. She wasn't Liberty and they all knew that. "Everyone else, lunch has been served. Please eat and relax." It was without a doubt an order for them to scatter back to the pack. While she still had not made her judgement she signaled Willow to follow her. Wanting to know more before she provided the she wolf with an answer.

Kiyu could not help but to watch as Kuroi stood to leave the group. Of course she didn't leave without acknowledging her achievement. "What can I say, I try." she raised her maw, pushing out her chest with pride. If only Louie could have seen her. Her ears laid back against her head as the thought of her father missing out on her growing played in her mind. It truly did disappoint her that he wasn't here, to no fault of his own. The avalanche was a sign of a fresh start, even if it meant he would not be there. Dark brown eyes followed behind Kuroi as she greeted Risen, a wolf Kiyu never had a chance to talk to. Not like she was eager to do so.

Her ears followed the sound of Yomi speaking to her, "Destiny and Cypher are satisfied." she spoke with the wag of her tail. Just as her ears followed Yomi's voice - she followed her gaze to the others. She nodded as the invitation to eat was extended to other wolves in the pack. She herself drew in to the spot in which she ripped the leg from, ripping herself something light. If she wanted to go hunting later, eating too much now could forfeit the opportunity.

Name: Cypher
Gender: Male
Rank: Lead Hunter
Age: 3yrs
Pack: Starlight
Tags: Destiny, Kiyu
Mentions: None
Cypher’s gaze didn’t waver as he listened to Destiny’s answer, noting the shift in her tone. It wasn’t just teasing anymore—there was something real in the way she spoke about freedom, about running toward nothing, not away. That rare vulnerability in her voice, even just for a moment, struck something deep within him.

He didn’t respond right away. Instead, he let the quiet settle between them, studying her like she was a puzzle he wanted to figure out. Not just the pieces she let others see, but the ones she kept locked away.

When she threw the question back at him, Cypher let out a slow exhale, his smirk fading just slightly. What would he do without the pack’s expectations? It was something he never allowed himself to think about—because what was Cypher if not the wolf shaped by duty, by survival, by the weight of leadership that was never officially his but always felt like it belonged to him anyway?

For a heartbeat, he considered giving her a lighthearted answer. Something sharp and teasing to deflect the weight of the moment. But Destiny wasn’t the only one dropping her guard tonight.

"I don’t know," he admitted, his voice quieter now, rough around the edges. "I’ve never let myself think about it." He shifted his weight, his tail flicking once behind him. "The pack’s always been everything. Even when I was a pup, I knew what was expected of me—what I had to be." He met her gaze, steady and unflinching. "But if none of that mattered? If I could just… go?" He huffed a quiet laugh, shaking his head. "I don’t think I’d run toward nothing, Destiny. I think I’d run toward something."

There was meaning in his words, something unspoken but heavy in the way he looked at her.

Before the moment could stretch too long, Kiyu’s arrival broke through the tension, her confident strides and playful tone pulling them both back into the present. Cypher’s ears twitched at her words, the corner of his mouth quirking up as she dipped her head in respect.

"Good morning, Kiyu," he greeted smoothly, his eyes flicking toward the elk leg she dropped at Destiny’s paws. He watched the exchange between them, observing the quiet devotion in the younger wolf’s actions. The way Kiyu had always looked after Destiny—not because she had to, but because she wanted to.

Destiny’s teasing remark made Kiyu chuckle, and Cypher’s smirk deepened as he gave Destiny a knowing glance. "Looks like you have your own personal hunter," he mused, amusement clear in his tone. "Lucky you."

Kiyu’s words about making sure the high ranks and pups ate first carried a certain weight, and Cypher gave her an approving nod. "You do good work, Kiyu. The pack’s stronger because of wolves like you." It wasn’t just idle praise—he meant it.

And then, just as quickly as she’d arrived, Kiyu dropped her final bombshell and scurried off, her teasing remark about a ‘date’ lingering in the air between them.

Cypher let out a quiet chuckle, shaking his head. "Think she’ll keep that to herself?" he asked, clearly not convinced. His gaze flicked back to Destiny, watching her reaction, watching the way she carried herself even after the shift in their conversation. He didn’t press her—he’d already seen more than she probably wanted him to.

But he wasn’t about to let her off easy, either.

Padding forward, he closed some of the space between them, lowering his voice just enough for only her to hear. "You know," he murmured, his smirk returning but his tone laced with something deeper, something more certain. "You say you’d run toward nothing… but I don’t believe that." His eyes searched hers, challenging her in the way only he could. "I think you’d run toward something, too. You just haven’t let yourself see it yet."

And with that, he stepped back, glancing toward the elk leg as if nothing had happened at all. "Now, are you going to eat, or do I have to make you?"

The challenge was there, playful, yet the game between them far from over.

Narae smiled to Koa and gestured at Eros. "Luna would like Eros to get checked over, please." She said to Koa. Then, Narae’s tail flicked in excitement as she looked at Eros, the grin on her face widening. “I’ll be right back!” she exclaimed with a bright, eager glint in her eyes before she trotted off toward the food pile. Her paws left prints in the snow, but she didn’t pay them any attention—her mind was focused on the task at hand. She was glad to be of help, to show Eros she cared, and to make sure he wasn’t going to go hungry.

As she padded toward the food pile, the cold air nipped at her fur, but the chill didn’t bother her. The only thing that mattered was getting something for Eros. He looked so exhausted, and she could tell it wasn’t just from the physical journey back. He had that worn-down look, one that showed his spirit was a little bruised too. The thought made her heart ache just a bit, but she shook it off, focusing on the task ahead.

After searching for a moment, her eyes caught sight of a plump rabbit near the back of the pile. It wasn’t the biggest one she’d seen, but it was more than enough to make Eros feel better. She picked it up with her jaws and began trotting back, her paws light and quick. The thought of seeing Eros’s smile again filled her with a sense of determination and happiness. He needed to eat, but she also wanted to be there with him, to make sure he didn’t feel alone. After everything he had been through, she figured a little comfort and care was the least she could offer.

When she neared the den, her eyes spotted Eros right where she’d left him, standing outside, waiting. He looked a little more alert now, though still noticeably tired. Narae’s grin only grew when she saw him, and she padded up to him quickly, dropping the rabbit in front of him. "Here you go! Fresh rabbit, just for you," she said with a proud, happy tone, her tail swishing behind her as she looked up at him.

She lowered her body to sit beside him, careful not to crowd him but still staying close enough to show that she was there for him. "I told you I’d be back with something good," she added with a small laugh, her eyes sparkling. "It’s nothing much, but it should be enough to get you feeling better." Her voice softened slightly. She could tell he was drained, and it made her want to do even more.

As they sat there, a comfortable silence settled between them. She glanced at the den entrance where Koa had been, then back at Eros. "I’ll stay here with you while Koa checks you out," Narae said, the tone of her voice growing more serious but still gentle. "I don't want you to feel like you're all alone, especially after everything you've been through." She shifted slightly closer, though not too close, just enough to show her solidarity.

She knew he’d been through a lot. He had been away, probably wondering if he would ever make it back, and now that he had returned, she could see the toll it had taken. There were things she wanted to say—things she wasn’t sure how to say—but instead, she just gave him a soft, reassuring smile. She didn’t need to say everything aloud. She just needed to be there.

She let out a little chuckle and nudged him gently with her shoulder. "You know, for all the craziness that’s been going on, I think we’re doing alright. We’re still here." She gave him a playful nudge again. "We’re both still young, still figuring things out, but at least we’re doing it together, right?"

Her eyes were bright again, and she finally let out a small laugh. "I’m just glad you’re back, Eros. I missed you." She said it quietly, but the meaning was clear.

Dante

Dante lay curled in the healer’s den, his black fur dull and matted, like a raven’s wing plucked too soon from the nest. The reek of crushed herbs clung to the air, a bitter reminder of his weakness. He heard Koa shuffling nearby, the clink of stone against earth. His ears, dulled by pain, twitched as the healer approached, water sloshing softly in some unseen vessel. Dante's eyes, usually sharp and assessing, were clouded with the fog of pain and exhaustion. The chill radiating from the bowl Koa set before him barely registered; his world had shrunk to the dull throb that pulsed through his broken body.

Koa cleared his throat, a rough, gentle sound, and then spoke to someone. Narae. The scent was unfamiliar, sweet and cloying, a jarring contrast to the medicinal tang that permeated the den. Then came another, sharper, more anxious: Eros. Dante felt a twinge, something akin to pity, for the young wolf. He knew the gnawing hunger that haunted Eros, the constant struggle for survival in this harsh world.

"What brings you two here?" Koa's voice rumbled, the question directed at the newcomers. Dante remained silent, his strength a dwindling ember. He felt Koa’s gaze shift between them, Narae and Eros, the healer’s keen senses assessing their condition. Koa would see the leanness of Eros, the hunger that clung to him like a shroud. Dante closed his eyes, letting the sounds of the den recede, fading into the background hum of his pain. He needed to hoard his strength, to cling to the fragile hope of healing. He trusted that Koa, or some other, would rouse him when there was true cause.

Eros

Eros stood outside the healer’s den, his gaze fixed on the frozen earth. The miles he’d travelled, the uncertainty of his return, pressed upon him like a winter’s shroud. He’d been brought back to a new place, a place he was meant to call home, though it felt as alien as a summer bloom in deepest winter. He’d been rescued, improbably, by Dante, the Starlight Beta, the very wolf he’d been taught to fear. The world had turned itself inside out, leaving Eros adrift in a sea of confusion.

He heard Narae’s bright voice, a splash of warmth in the icy air, as she spoke to Koa. Her words, about him needing a check-up, pricked at his unease. He appreciated her concern, yet the thought of the healer’s ministrations made his fur bristle. Then, Narae’s cheerfulness bubbled over, her grin wide and bright. She announced she would return, before bounding off towards the food pile, a blur of fur against the snow.

Eros watched her go, a flicker of warmth stirring within the weariness that clung to him. Narae’s heart was good, her intentions true. In this strange, new territory, she was a familiar face, a comforting presence. He waited, his gaze returning to the frozen ground. Exhaustion gnawed at him, bone-deep, but it was more than just the weariness of the journey. It was the weariness of a wolf who had seen too much, faced the unknown, and returned… changed.

Narae’s return was a welcome sight. She trotted towards him, a plump rabbit dangling from her jaws. ‘Here you go! Fresh rabbit, just for you,’ she announced, her voice brimming with pride. Eros gave a small, grateful nod. He knew she’d gone to some trouble for him, and the gesture touched him. “Thank you, that’s more than I’ve seen in a long time.”

As Narae settled beside him, offering words of comfort, Eros felt a sliver of the weight on his shoulders ease. He appreciated her presence, her quiet understanding. He didn’t need to explain himself to Narae. She seemed to sense his turmoil, offering silent solace instead of probing questions. Her lighthearted chatter about ‘doing alright’ brought a ghost of a smile to his lips. He knew she was trying to lift his spirits, and he was grateful. “Yeah, I can’t think of anybody I’d rather be doing it with either..you’re my closest friend. Your stuck with me for life.” He giggled slightly

When Narae mentioned staying with him during his examination, a wave of relief washed over him. He didn’t want to be alone, not here, not in this unfamiliar place. Narae’s presence was a bulwark against the strangeness, a reminder that he wasn’t entirely isolated. He heard her soft, heartfelt, ‘ I’m just glad you’re back, Eros. I missed you,’ and a lump rose in his throat. Words of his own eluded him, but he knew Narae understood. Her presence, her kindness, spoke volumes. He was grateful for her friendship, a flickering candle in the darkness of his return.
