Description: Meldrick is tall and a little on the slender side that stands at a height of six feet. He has naturally fair skin that is tanned from his time in the sun. His eyes are brown in color and sometimes appear hard or mischievous depending on his mood. His hair is a dark brown and on the curly side that just brushes his coat collar. He is often seen in nondescript clothing but favors wearing a wide brim hat when outdoors that he tends to keep pulled low to cover his eyes. and often carries a quarterstaff with him.
Personality: Meldrick has a bit of a mischievous side to him that he tends to keep hidden and sometimes like to play pranks but not as often as he did when he was younger. He enjoys traveling which lead him to become a peddler, much to the displeasure of his family whom he no longer has any contact with. He can appear cold to those who do not know him since he is wary around strangers when he has his goods out for sale. Meldrick has a secret stash of stuff in his wagon that he refuses to part with due to the item interesting him in some way or another. He despises crowds which is the main reason why he considers the wagon to be his home though he generally sleeps underneath it on good nights if he is not in a town. Though Meldrick doesn't call any village or city his home, he is often spotted around the rider castle and the Wildflower Village. Often enough that he has created some sort of friendship, if it could be called that, with some of the locals
Other: He owns a team of nondescript but good liver chestnut horses that pulls his covered wagon and has a black gelding named Nightshade that is usually tied to the back of the wagon when he is moving. If you want a reference of his appearance, just look of Mat Cauthon but he is clean shaven if you look at the series actor

Firo is a cute but somewhat handsome red haired male. His hair is just as fiery as his sister’s, instead of a softer ginger color. His hair is a bit wavy at the ends, just like her hair is. His eyes are framed by longer lashes, and are a lovely color. Being they are a grayish color like the rest of his family has. His lips are full and nice to look at, and his nails are nice as well. He has a variety of clothes. Most of them seem to be blues and purples, but he also has some reds and even pink colored ones.

Firo is adventurous and brave, but aloof and bossy sometimes. He’s creative and daring, but cold at times and also dorky. He’s friendly and gentle, but fiery and gets nervous. Phys. Desc. -
Standing at a height of exactly six feet tall, Mathias has a toned build and olive skin. His dark brown hair is often disheveled, wavy, and curls every which way despite its length ending not too far under his ears. While his stature can be somewhat intimidating, Mathias’ demeanor, round, hazel-green eyes, and easy smile are all too inviting for a conversation. His preferred style is definitely on the more casual side, usually including a well-worn bomber jacket, equally well-worn combat boots, and durable, somewhat loose outdoor pants. His clothing choices tend to have a generous amount of pockets as well. Some particularly notable things about Mathias’ appearance are a durable silver necklace that he never takes off and riding goggles that usually just hang around his neck. Overall, the vibe Mathias gives off is not really one of a team lead- or at least one that takes the job seriously. This is intentional.

Power Desc. -
The extent of Mathias’ ability to influence illusions is pretty average, as he likes to be honest and does not use it very much. Part of this is to have the element of surprise when he does use it (especially since his ability is not a widely shared piece of information), but he is also not very confident in how convincing he can make them. Mathias’ specialty in regard to this power lies in visual hallucinations as well as limited auditory illusions. He is far better at creating illusions of people, things being said, and man-made structures compared to his scaly partner. Mathias primarily uses his ability to visually cloak himself if he wants to go somewhere unseen.

Personality -
A surprisingly affectionate leader for a team representing vipers, Mathias does his best to keep up morale and be a good example for the rest of the team despite the pressure of everything going on. He knows when to be serious and can be so on a dime, but when it’s not a requirement he tries to be honest and friendly. Mathias is someone who is witty and genuine, even if his care for each person on the team adds to the burden on his shoulders. He normally considers himself a confident person, but the recent disappearances have caused an extra crease in his brow and under his eyes. Mathias’ closer confidants know him as someone who is strategic and calculating, and he hopes his individual observations into recent matters won’t paint him as someone suspicious to them. Additionally, he has a habit of hiding this side of him from his teammates so they don’t worry about him. In regard to Nova, he trusts her with his life but is still somewhat hesitant with how to act around her, even after all their years together. At times it feels as if they had known each other forever and at others it’s like they don’t know each other at all.

Background -
Mathias grew up in an environment where he was somewhat spoiled by his family and was expected to end up somewhere safe from harm- likely some sort of larger city where he could live an easy life. With that being all that he ever knew and feeling dissatisfied, Mathias grew to be rebellious against these expectations. He made his own plans to see the world, neglecting the education and extracurriculars that had been meticulously picked out for him and his future. This caused a rift between Mathias and his parents, which started a fight that ended with him running away from home for two days. On the second day, just as Mathias had resigned himself to his parents’ wishes of his attending a far-off boarding school, a great shadow fell over him. A thought appeared in his head when he peered up at the dragon, although he quickly found that it wasn’t his own. ‘Don’t you want a taste of freedom?’

Phys Desc. -
An imposing, charcoal-scaled dragon with slightly lighter colored underbelly plating. She has dark grey webbing on the back of her neck, spine, and tail, with the two on the tail being adorned with sharp silver spikes. She has three sets of horns and spikes on her face that share this color as well as the silver plating on her snout, eye ridges, and forehead. Her wings include an extra set of three talons and the undersides are white and far more reflective than the rest of her scales. Nova’s eyes are golden. (I also drew her here :3)

Power Desc. -
Nova has the ability to create extremely convincing illusions - from a distance, at least. While she can do a decent job with creating illusions based on dragons and any other things found in the natural world, most attempts at parts of humans and human civilization may appear a little more uncanny. This is simply because she never cared enough about them to get the details quite right. Make no mistake, however- Nova is still exceptionally talented and has nearly two centuries worth of practice with her powers. Where her abilities really shine is the precision she has with the manipulation of sensory illusions aside from visuals. Auditory illusions and tactile illusions are her strongest points, and are far more unlikely to be detected as fake by beings of higher intellect. While Nova has nearly perfected the techniques to achieve the desired deception, her favorite move is one that requires a steady focus. With a combination of practical effects (her reflective under-wings and the wind from beating them) and illusions (a blinding light and loud sound), she can create an environment to stun an opponent long enough to sink her claws into them. Any other responses to it are just further entertainment.

While Nova’s main focus is on the illusion part of the Nightmare clan’s abilities, her mind manipulation doesn’t just stop there. All dragons have regular conversational telepathy, with the ability to pick up on the surface level intended tone and emotions- but Nova has a bit more stretch than just that. She can dig further into other beings’ emotional states and, can somewhat, taste their fears in order to manipulate her illusions. This does not change too much to be completely honest, however her other dealings of the mind have given Nova the proper focus and she knows what parts of the thoughts to pay attention to. This ability does make it difficult to focus on doin anything else while she is snooping around in others’ heads though.

Personality -
・Nova respects those who are ambitious, clever, resourceful, and unpredictable.
・general traits include being easily bored, fickle, crafty, and prideful (kinda bratty)
Nova is strange, even in dragon standards. She is unbound by the principles held by others, preferring to make her decisions based simply on what she finds interesting at a given moment. She finds value in the unpredictable and dangerous, and while she isn’t particularly a fan of cruelty, Nova has no qualms with throwing her weight around or manipulating others with her abilities when she deems it fit. This doesn’t mean that she does this very much, just that she will use the means at her disposal for what she wants. Nova is also a dragon who is confident in her physical strength and agility, and for good reason. Since her powers do not cause direct damage in combat, she has been persistent in her sparring and hunting. While this tendency is mostly because she finds the activity fun, Nova also wants to stay prepared for any future possibilities. In recent years, she still keeps her cards close to her chest, but has become a little more social around the other dragons. Nova has also, perhaps, even found a little bit of fondness in her heart for her new pet.

Background -
Nova has always put lots of pressure on herself to better herself and her abilities, which has paid off until she came to ponder the reason behind working so hard. She found that she has had very few goals in that respect, and in an effort to not think on it even further, threw herself into even more rigorous self-training. Over the years, the dragon grew fond of finding unpredictable situations to cure the monotony in her life and started spending her time actively seeking them out. At one point she happened across a young human armed with wits and ambition, and after quite a bit of time surveilling the boy, made the choice to take him under her wing.

Other -
・She has been known by many names before, with Nova being her most recent choice. This is because she gets bored of how they sound and wants to find something that fits her better (preferences can change quite a bit in 135 years after all). Her current name was proposed to her by Mathias because of its astronomical similarity to her favorite “attack”.
・Nova has also had multiple hoards over the years, including smooth rocks, things that shine, particularly cool looking sticks, and many more. Most don’t last too long due to her getting sick of them, but as of right now she has found some enjoyment in her newest hoard: lost and found. This includes (somewhat) insignificant things swiped from around Blackpeak Haven, belonging to no one at all or perhaps someone else residing there. Nova respects her fellow dragons enough to not take their things, but it is a bit amusing watching humans look all over their things only to find it nestled at the first location they checked.
・Despite her general apathy towards humans, she quite likes being nosy around the other dragon riders. She still only speaks to her own and other dragons though, and occasionally tries to goad others into telepathic gossip

‪ ➤ Rorik Tyranth -‬ ♫; Mathias respects Rorik a great deal, and while he is the one Mathias reports to, he wouldn’t consider him all that close personally. He is generally aware of his story but didn’t know him before his brother died, and he is sympathetic to his situation (although he would not want to bring up old wounds). He sometimes feels unsure how to act around him non-professionally, as the commander only really interacts with everyone on the job. Mathias does truly wish him the best and would like to offer more of his support, however he doesn’t want to be seen as stepping out of line- especially when there are others that Rorik clearly relies on more.


𝑻𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝑽𝒊𝒑𝒆𝒓

‪ ➤ Mathias‬ Chevalier - N/A; (TOWARDS HIS TEAM) he is generally fond of and trusts his teammates to do their best and make good decisions, going out of his way (when they have the time) to ask everyone’s thoughts on team-related decisions and consider them carefully. He is also a little more teasing to his own team as well as more direct if he is concerned about anything compared to the usual tact he uses to stay in other’s good graces. He can be a bit self-sacrificing at times if someone seems to be a target, taking his responsibility as a team leader seriously. Mathias will do everything in his power to keep his team safe and tries to subtly help each member with their insecurities and weak points. He wants to see everyone come out of this happy, alive, and with a better view of themselves. These wishes extend to the other teams and commander as well, however focusing on just his team and those close to him seems a little more manageable at the moment.

‪ ➤ Faelara Darokbanor -‬ ★, ?♥︎; Mathias feels a lot of respect and trust for his second in command, and Faelara is one of the few that he feels comfortable being himself in front of. Even with his social personality, Mathias usually puts on a bit of a front for others, but he doesn’t feel the need to do that around her. He also feels proud of her progress for coming out of her shell a bit in regard to trusting others and having fun, and has even started to look forward to the times they get to spend time together. Mathias doesn't realize the extent of his feelings, but whatever happens, he would like to see Faelara happy.

‪ ➤ Iris Atlas -‬ ★; Mathias feels respect and fondness for her as a team member; he appreciates her honesty and would like to build a closer relationship with her, but since she is more guarded, he respects her space and does his best to make their interactions comfortable. Since she seems to excel at handling her powers and dragon riding, he feels that he doesn’t need to support her quite as much but still worries that she may not rely on others when she needs help. Mathias tries to help her confidence when he can.

‪ ➤ Calix Tyranth -‬ ★; Mathias feels respect and fondness for him as a team member; although he is a little concerned that he may find himself in danger as a result of a certain someone on his mind distracting him, Mathias is glad to see him in high spirits because of it. He is not worried about Calix losing motivation and is choosing to trust him to continue to make wise decisions despite this. Calix is a capable rider and has an infectious positive attitude most of the time, and Mathias enjoys his company (although he has been making an extra effort to check the other’s back when he’s next to Ace while on a mission. Love is blind, as they say.)

‪ ➤ Jessel Robail -‬ ★; Mathias feels respect and fondness for her as a team member; he really appreciates Jessel’s kindness and consideration for the other riders, although is a little worried that her openness to listen to others’ problems will cause her to take on more stress than she needs to. Mathias tries to take this burden on his own shoulders instead, although he knows it’s likely impossible when it comes to Rorik’s worries, and keeps an eye on her a little more since she got injured. Sometimes, Mathias will rely on her calm attitude to verify things that happened during situations, and in return does his best to help alleviate her anxieties and fears when she feels that way.

𝑻𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝜬𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓
‪ ➤ Jem‬ Winters - ★, ?♥︎; Mathias finds himself showing more of his true personality around Jem, as a fellow team lead and someone he respects quite a bit. He feels that they share similar burdens and feelings that others not in their position don’t, and even moreso with his closer connection to the commander. Mathias worries about Jem taking on more than he can handle and wants to at least offer moral support to the other. While he is unsure of any other feelings he may have for the other lead, Mathias has taken a special interest in Jem’s situation and has found himself working a little harder to help him reunite with his sister. He would really like to see Jem being more carefree and wants to help make it a reality.

‪ ➤ Lillian Ariales -‬ ♫; Mathias does not know Lillian very well but does think of her as someone bright and capable. He appreciates Ace’s honesty and friendliness, although is a little stressed for both her and Calix’s safety with how they act around each other and especially after Ace was injured. Mathias hopes that she will be able to support her team as their second as well as keep herself healthy.

‪ ➤ Escha Ravel -‬ ♫; Although certainly unique and a bit intimidating at first glance, Mathias feels that Escha is a very interesting and capable rider. She does remarkably well under pressure and appears both talented and kind, although Mathias does not feel that he knows her very well.

‪ ➤ Elyria Crysalerek -‬ ♫; Mathias does not know Elyria very well due to her quiet demeanor and the fact that they are on different teams, but thinks she must be a kind person with how much care she puts into her healing preparation and helping others.

‪ ➤ Sapphire Raven -‬ ♫; Sapphire’s easygoing nature has made the interactions Mathias had had with him pretty entertaining. Mathias enjoys his adventurous spirit and positive attitude. The viper lead has, however, seen Sapphire looking rather lost in thought sometimes, so while he leaves him to it usually, Mathias will occasionally check in with him or fill in as a destruction if the other appears worried. With that said, Mathias doesn’t feel that they are all that close, even if he is friendly with him.

➤ ‪Eleanorr Poppie -‬ ♫; Mathias does not know her very well, but appreciates her adventurous spirit and energetic attitude. He has witnessed her attempts that cheering up others from a distance and respects it, although he has a little bit of worry about her own need for a morale booster as with the others with more positive and extroverted personalities.

‪➤ Elijah Ross -‬ ✖︎; Mathias does not know him very well, but feels a little unsure of his somewhat unpredictable personality. He seems to take a lot of unnecessary risks in Mathias’ opinion, and while friendly to some, Mathias had witnessed a few times where Elijah was cold to others and had a pretentious air about him. He does not appreciate Elijah’s sometimes immature and judgmental attitude, sometimes finding himself almost stepping in to correct his behavior. Mathias has not done this yet, as Elijah is not on his team.

‪➤ Artemis Brairwood - ‬✦; Mathias actually knew Artemis when they were younger, although Mathias was older and took his responsibilities more seriously. At the moment, Mathias is a little bit annoyed with Artemis’ dismissive attitude but at the same time a little concerned. Sometimes people can act in such a way after something traumatic, and while Mathias doesn’t feel that he knows him very well, he hopes that Artemis can take his responsibilities more seriously, especially for his eccentric dragon’s sake.

➤ ‪Firo Poppie -‬ ♫; Mathias barely knows him, as he just joined, but looks favorably upon him as someone who seems to want to do good and be kind to his fellow riders. Mathias had also visited his bookstore on occasion, and he seemed to be pleasant company.

➤ Nova - N/A; (TOWARDS OTHER DRAGONS) Nova generally thinks of most people and dragons as pretty boring, although they might make fun targets for pestering. Also, she’s a bit unfamiliar with romance, so anything marked as a potential crush could double as curiosity or fascination.

➤ Dazielle - ♫; Nova quite likes her kindness and enjoyment of jokes, despite her usually not finding her kind of personality entertaining. Dazielle is a bit like a breath of fresh air, and while they haven’t spoken a lot, Nova does work well with her as a teammate.

➤ Azazel - ♫, ?♥︎; Nova is very interested in Azazel, only partially because they share a clan and similar abilities. She senses some amount of underlying similarity in their sense of “fun” and moral ambiguity, although Nova can’t quite decide if she likes him, just finds him interesting, or feels a sort of competition. His rider and Mathias were both the same rank after all, and while she didn’t feel that dragons had to abide by human hierarchies, she would give it her all if Mathias’ pride were challenged. Azazel’s venomous spikes are also quite impressive, although Nova mostly feels a small sting of jealousy. She does also really really want to pester or spar with him lol

➤ Linxakasendalor - ♫, ?♥︎; Nova has found Linxakasendalor extremely intriguing ever since they first met, even if the other dragon is not very social. Her relationship to her equally as interesting rider has only added to Nova’s curiosity, and Nova has found herself observing the other and trying to start conversations when she seems like she wasn’t doing very much. Despite this, they aren’t very close, but Nova’s persistence isn’t so easily ended.

➤ Azaroth - ✦; Nova thinks that he looks a little impressive, but doesn’t really know enough about him to not call him boring

➤ Caelistris - ✦; Nova thinks she is pretty, has a useful healing ability, and enjoys her calm attitude although she would feel bad for messing with her.

➤ Jarik - ✖︎; Nova thinks that Jarik is too serious and snappy and probably wouldn’t even have an entertaining reaction to anything she might do to mess with him- although she wouldn’t do that, mostly to keep Mathias safe. She only listens to the other dragon’s orders because of this as well, although if she feels that the orders are unreasonable or stupid she may or may not elect to ignore them. It’s not as if Mathias could listen in on the dragons’ conversation anyway.

➤ Scarlett - ✦; Nova does not know very much about her, but since she’s not a fan of Jarik, she’s not too keen on Scarlett either. Scarlett hasn’t done anything to irk her, however.

➤ Zoros - ♫; Nova thinks Zoros is attractive, although this is mostly because she looks kind of similar herself. His personality and amusement with humans is something that interests Nova a bit, and she would like to learn more as well as spar with Zoros maybe.

➤ Eärendil - ♫, ?♥︎; Nova has probably spent the most time with Eärendil due to their human partners’ closer relationship. Nova quite likes Ren’s calmer and playful personality, feeling a growing interest in him that she can’t really pin down. Because of this, she is interested in learning more about it and a newfound wish to, for whatever reason, impress the other. She would also like to be more playful herself, something that she also finds quite perplexing, albeit a bit less so because she likes messing with everyone she can.

➤ Verally - ✦; Nova does not have too much to say about him, although he seems nice. Maybe a bit boring?

➤ Aros - ✦; Nova thinks Aros is a very attractive dragon, mostly because of how similar he looks to herself.

➤ Endolynn - ♫, ?♥︎; to Nova, Endolynn seems somewhat aloof but calm and generally agreeable. They haven’t interacted very much, and Nova is not entirely sure what to expect from her. This has made her quite curious, which usually makes Nova want to playfully mess with them a little.

➤ Soliel - ♫; Nova thinks this dude is hilarious with his “dragon-in-shining-scales” righteous attitude, especially with how much he drags his not so eager human around with him. She has caught Soliel on more than one occasion literally carrying the human by his cloths in his mouth. Although Soliel is too earnest to really mess with, he is entertaining enough to just watch.

➤ Ikarus - ✦; Nova barely knows this dragon, but is intrigued to find out more about him. He doesn’t seem to have had quite the social upbringing that some of the other dragons had, so perhaps they could be acquaintances on good terms. This dragon does appear quite interested in Soliel though, which Nova would roll her eyes at.
