I too have noticed that I have extreme lag immediately upon pound opening. Often it can take 5-17s to get a page to load properly. My oldest pets are typically 2017. I'm getting frustrated by it, tbh. I'm the only computer on my connection, which I share with a scant handful of other devices I own all of. My PC is wired into the network and has priority with the router. If anything, at a 400mbps, I should have no issues getting in quickly. But... I'm not. I'm not even close. I also NEVER have lag with LAF.

I've noticed it too. Something is definitely up, I guarantee there's a few people botting the Pound. I've seen plenty of folks in denial of this but I'm almost certain that's exactly what's happening. It is NOT a good thing that the VRs have run out. I almost never see rares+ on my page even when I get into the Pound right as it opens (IF the lag doesn't hit me first), and when I do and try to click the Adopt Me button, it lags me out or just straight up doesn't register my click at all. Something odd is 100% happening with the Pound lately.

This. A few months ago I was really lucky to get some rares and rare+ from the pound from time to time. One day I actually got a OMGSR-Rat.

But lately I also get the thing with clicking the adopt me button a dozen times and then it just says someone else grabbed this pet. Example was was a sitting cat.
My boyfriend also just clicks the good pets and it always says they're gone, even if his latency is extremely good.

It's very obvious that bots are being used, even when by some miracle I don't get lag, older and rare pets have the "already taken" tag even though it's been open a split second, there's no way someone can click that fast.

I'd say close the pound until the issues have been resolved

I understand why the pound rarity odds are like this now but its depressing to look at

I always hoped CS would do an event like they did in 2017 for the pound because I wasn't playing at the time they did that but I'm assuming that will never happen again.

Yeah... I know some people believe the pound being empty as a good thing, but I personally disagree. The pound is the biggest thing that keeps people coming back to the site, especially during the 'off' seasons when there's no event. It is also probably one of the most accessible way for newer users to get rare pets (botting issue aside). I think it giving out rare+ pets is important.

That being said, I just went ahead and donated some rare pets to the pound. I feel like its the best thing I can do for now and to put my money where my mouth is lol. If the issue gets worse I'll try to donate more. (If anyone wants to create a club/army thread for rare+ pound donators let me know, I've been thinking about it for a while and would be interested)

In regards to the "are you sure" click, maybe there would be a way to code it so it doesn't end up making much more of a hassle for anyone? Something like, you hit adopt, the pet temporarily gets a "pending" sticker put over it instead of a "this pet has been taken" one, and instead of a pop up window asking "are you sure" it's some sort of like a drop down to confirm. Kinda like the same drop down menu for navigating groups of pets. I don't code at all so I'm not sure if it's possible to register a "pending" message for others just from someone navigating into a drop down menu. Then putting some sort of timer on the "are you sure" drop down (5 seconds or so) until the pet goes back to being available for someone else.

Or, having some way to re-code the pound so that scripts/bots can't get into it easily. Maybe if it's coded like a mini game, where it's a countdown timer actively counting down on the "mini game" area of the page, and you have to click "enter" to open the results from the pound rather than just refreshing until it opens. Again, I know nothing about coding, but anything that just auto clicks would, I believe with my limited knowledge, then do nothing but open the pound page, not adopt pets right off the bat.
