If you could have a soulmate in pet form, he would have been my pet soulmate. He was the most amazing dog. He was so gentle and loving, never growled or snapped, he was so so smart, he knew his toys by name, he had his own way of playing fetch too. He would catch it but rather than bring it back he would find a slope and find the right angle to roll it back to you with his nose, it was more like playing catch/pass the ball.
He was even lovely to cats and dogs. He liked cats, to the point he shared his bed with a stray cat that showed up that we eventually took in. He always wanted to lie with our other cats in the house. When he met other dogs he was never aggressive, he especially loved puppies. He was such a lovebug with them, licking them and lying on his belly to be level with them. He just knew how gentle to be, he even let them "win" with play wrestles, he would eventually roll on his back and show his belly and let them climb and crawl all over him. People we met at the dog park with puppies would even comment how lovely he was and gentle with them. I had been asked by a few people if he was female and had puppies before because he had such gentle interaction with them so were wondering if it was maternal instincts (he had very long hair so you couldn't immediately tell he was actually an intact male).
He was my first pet as an adult, I had grown up with working breeds but he was just so unique and something else. He even won over friends and family who weren't into dogs. He even won over a friend of mine who had a massive fear of any dog larger than a Jack Russell after being attacked by a dog as a child that was almost fatal, it was large and loose by itself at a park. He met him as a puppy first and continued wanting to come and see him despite him growing larger. He was also so gentle with my 2 year old daughter, he was so careful with her that he had never even bumped into her or knocked her over. He would put his nose in her hand and give her little licks. He also loved fetch with her (despite her being unable to throw the ball very far).
He was so loved by my family that my mum and younger brother actually had to take the rest of the week off work because they are both so upset. He would hang out with my brother and his mates around the fire when they were over, he even had his own chair to sit on with them. My mum even said that if I ever moved far away she wouldn't let me take him she loves him so much (we currently live only 5 minutes away from each other). She even would say he was her furry grandchild before I had my daughter when people asked if she had grand children.
Our neighbour loved him too, she didn't have a dog safe yard so she asked if she could walk him when she went for her 10km walks as she missed having a dog of her own. She has been doing that for years now and adored him, he loved her too. I haven't been able to figure out yet how to tell her yet as she is in hospital right now.
I could honestly write an entire book about how amazing he was but it would take forever to read. I think I also just needed to vent about how much I loved him and how amazing he was.
I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a dog on CS that looks like him. I have been trying to look but there are so many to go through. I wanted to make an online memorial and have a pet on here for him to add to my special pets. He is being cremated so I have around a week before I receive his ashes and urn. I have been getting things to make a memorial for him here at home but I just feel like I'm not doing enough. So I also wanted to make one on here too as I have been playing the game a lot.
I will add a photos below. He is also my profile picture.
Thank you for even reading, even if you don't know of any/there isn't a dog that looks like him. Added some puppy pictures of him too because he was such a cute puppy.
