History:Snarl of Angry Dog was born into a militaristic family that prided itself on strength and survival, instilling in him the value of resilience from a young age. He was always a fierce and competitive fighter, known for his quick temper and determination to prove himself. Along with his littermates, Jaws of Ruthless Crocodile and Tusk of Charging Boar, Snarl trained hard, honing his combat skills. Though his brother Jaws excelled in strategy, Snarl was the strongest fighter of the three, never backing down from a challenge.
However, everything changed during a brutal battle that tore his life apart. In that battle, his brother Tusk was killed, and Snarl himself sustained life-threatening injuries while trying to protect his littermates. His left leg was mangled beyond saving, leaving the tribe's surgeon with no choice but to amputate it. The physical pain of the injury was matched only by the emotional devastation of losing Tusk.
Snarl was confined to the surgeon's den for moons as he recovered from the operation, a situation that completely clashed with his usual independent, fierce nature. Being immobile and dependent on others for basic tasks filled him with frustration, anger, and shame. He had always defined himself by his strength, and now he felt helpless, stuck in a den while life went on without him. The once-active tom was forced into a state of vulnerability, a feeling he despised.
During his recovery, Snarl’s temper grew even shorter, and he often lashed out at those trying to help him, including the surgeon and his brother Jaws. He hated feeling weak and pitied, and though he knew his tribe-mates meant well, he couldn’t shake the bitterness of his situation. Snarl's anger at his own body and circumstances caused a rift between him and others, making him even more isolated. It was difficult for him to cope with his loss—not just the loss of his leg, but also the loss of his identity as the strong warrior who could always fight alongside his brothers.
Despite this, Snarl was fiercely determined to recover, even though he knew he would never fight the same way again. He pushed himself through rehabilitation, forcing himself to adjust to life with three legs. His rage fueled his progress, as he refused to let his injuries define him. Over time, he became more mobile and regained some of his physical strength, but the mental toll of his recovery remained. He couldn’t fight as he used to, and the reality that his days as a front-line warrior might be over weighed heavily on him.
By the time he was discharged from the surgeon’s den, Snarl was a changed cat. He was still fierce and competitive, but now more guarded and distant. The anger and frustration he felt during his recovery shaped him into an even more hardened and aggressive cat. He buried his grief over Tusk’s death and his own injury deep inside, refusing to let himself appear vulnerable again. His experience in the surgeon’s den left him with a strong sense of self-reliance, and while he remained loyal to the tribe, he distanced himself emotionally from others, including Jaws.
Though physically altered, Snarl’s sense of duty and loyalty to the tribe never wavered. If anything, the loss of his leg strengthened his resolve to keep his tribe safe, even if it meant adopting a more tactical or mentoring role rather than a front-line fighter. But the scars, both physical and emotional, still run deep, and Snarl struggles with the feeling that he failed—not only his brothers, but also himself.
