I remembered when I jioned just a little over a year ago I saw all the pets I could adopt and it felt llike i was adopting a million horses(T was just 8 ponies but it felt like more) rember not adopting the blue puppies from the month just didn`t feel like adopting them and adopting the ponies with the mountian blue sky and the PPS pony with the night sky and moon on it.
I rember seeing the green Nick b-day dragon and falling inlove with them and wanting to hoard them(I have 40 of them now) they were common so just traded an 2010 uncommon for them)
I remember traded a whole bunch of rares for a Drink me dog and then tradeing it for a blue Grinner I felt like the riches person on CS.

"Unreleased Pets" were available only on the 18th of December- the day where every pet ever created on the site at that time was available to be adopted at random. They are so named because because they are the only pets that weren't available in any other way. There are four in total (Tan butterfly wolf, mint green horse, green-eyed black cat and a now very rotten looking banana O.o;)

Wait, new questions. .o. Since some of you were there, you could adopt any released pet? o.o And in 2009/2010, was it the same way? x3 [So confused.]

It worked the same way as all years. Big box containing all pets plus 4 URs. You could adopt two. Two chances at any pet in the game.

I remember the old systems and it was SLLOOWW. I kinda wish the layout was still here to use. It brings back great memories when I was younger. In January '09. I used to lurk on here and Neopets all day. /sigh/

Actually it was 3 pets my sister opened my box for me and got mad at her(then I remember asked her to open my box xD) got a rare santa rat,a PPS advent dog with a heart on her leg and an uncommon black malk wolf.

Yep. I think recently-made pets don't get included in the box, though...
Also, if you have spare time, off-account adopting is limitless and has no effect on rarity. You can't trade them, and they can't go to your account, but if you save them in a thread or something you can still claim ownership of them. (Cleared out half my wishlist last Rerelease Day...)

I remember being so mad because I missed the banana, since I joined just one day or two after they were released. XD It was funny to see people's reactions to it rotting, though.
