For Survival- Yokai/Ayakashi human betrothal RP

Yokai and Ayakashi have decided to become betrothed to humans. They are betrothed to shrine maidens and workers, as well as Onmyoji/exorcists. The gender doesn’t matter either. They are ensuring they won’t disappear, or just leaving behind descendants. They want to have descendants around when one day they’re gone. There’s also the possibility that weaker Yokai and Ayakashi could just…disappear. Therefore, they’ve all decided on this. They sent messages to the shrines and houses, too.

starting right before ceremonies. (since they’re separate shrines, we can have the ceremonies at the shrines. For the Onmyoji, they can be at a wedding hall. Since they’re meant to be a small group of friends.)

Inari Shrine

The paler peachy creamy skinned one hummed quietly. Rima had helped the redhead do up the sash of her pretty purple kimono. Since they were at a shrine, she’d decided to wear a kimono. That was the traditional way, though some people did a Western wedding. Shaking her head, she brushed at long ginger curls. Rima smacked at her hand, then began to do her hair. Pulling part of it into a band, then braiding down under that band. She secured the braid with another band, and Jessel smiled at her. The kimono of course covered her freckled arms and legs. Brown eyes glanced to the other female in the room with her. The two left the room, finding Amir and probably Akari. Jessel smiled at them both, ready to head to the ceremony.

The medium height one was waiting for Rima to get done helping Jessel. He was in contact with most, if not all, the other shrine owners. He knew they were having ceremonies at their own shrines/temples. He smiled at the thought, then shook his head. The dark brown haired and dark brown eyed one looked around. The tanned one watched as the two ladies soon emerged. He smiled at them, then looked around for Akari. Shaking his head, he began to head for the main hall/shrine area.

The slender girl was helping Jessel, whom she saw as a friend. The longer haired golden-brown haired one smacked her hand, then did her hair. Once she was done with Jessel’s hair, she moved back. The golden tan skinned and dark brown eyed one followed her out of the room.

The shorter male hummed quietly a bit. Shaking his head then letting brown eyes wander the area the ceremony would take place in. He was already there, the other two workers likely there as well. He brushed at straight black hair, which reached the bottom of his neck.


Tengu shrine

The pretty, average height and slender feminine looking one hummed a bit. The creamy peachy skinned one had decided to wear a silken garment. It somewhat resembled a Yukata or a Kimono. It wasn’t as complex as a Kimono, and it surely wasn’t a Yukata either. It worked well enough though. The greenish eyed one, a bit of amber in their eyes, smiled as they finished up. They brushed at shoulder length golden brown hair. They couldn’t do much with it, so they stepped out of the room and found Daia and Rena, and maybe Yusuke.

The shorter, wavy haired one was waiting for El. El was like another child or even a nephew/niece to them. They felt like they must escort them to the ceremony area. The shoulder length haired dark brown haired and blue eyed one smiled when he saw El step out of the room.

The pretty and slender girl was waiting with her parent. Possibly Yusuke was with them as well. The dark brown haired girl hummed, flicking back her hair. She’d done a crown braid in it, so most of it was loose but part of it was in the said braid. The brown eyed girl blinked. Then smiled for a moment.

The golden tan skinned one hummed and smiled. He combed at upper neck length straight dark brown hair a moment. He then shook his head, and smoothed down his shirt. They’d been allowed to wear normal clothes for the ceremony, though would go back to the uniform the next day. Currently, he was wearing a dark red shirt. He also had some sort of comfortable looking pants. He glanced around the ceremony area. Smiling as he saw the other two workers more than likely.


Shrine for Yuki Onna

The pretty and slender woman knew other shrines were having ceremonies. She smiled a moment as she thought of the other shrine owners. She then shook her head, and brushed at darker golden-brown hair. The golden tan skinned and blue eyed woman waited for Miyuki and Yukiko.

The shorter, slender and golden-tan skinned one hummed a bit. He brushed at his black hair, which went just past the shoulders. Blue eyes glanced to his mom a moment. He and Arisa, and likely Akiko, were waiting for Miyuki as well as Yukiko.

The loyal and loving girl had been allowed into the room. The straight haired, mid back lengthed black haired one was helping Miyuki to get ready. She blinked, longer lashes brushing skin when she did. The golden-tan one was wearing a very pretty dress that day. She hummed as she looked at Miyuki. Helping her tie up the sash if the other needed that done. She’d already helped her with her hair, as well. She smiled as she looked at the other, and asked “Are you almost ready?”


Kirin Shrine

The shorter and slender, calm and playful but confident and and steady one smiled. She then shook her head a couple times. She’d brushed out her longer black hair, and done it up all nice. Dark brown eyes looked around for a moment, then she shook her head.

The sweet and soft but stubborn and shy one hummed a bit. He was waiting at the ceremony area with one or both of the other workers. They were meant to all be there, waiting. The golden-tan skinned, longer lashed one looked around. The cute and pretty but somewhat handsome one was looking for Koga. He then thought on the fact Koga was probably with his family…waiting for Raiko. He shook his head a bit. He combed at his mid neck length straight light reddish colored hair.

The beautiful wolf was in he’d gray and white wolf form. She pawed at her face, which had dark blue markings. Her body also had dark blue markings upon it, and bits of fluff. These being on her elbows, heels, cheeks and tail base. She shook her head, and transformed. She stood in her usual Kimono. However, she shook her head, and went to change into a more formal one. The golden-tan skinned one twitched her ears and flicked her tail. She brushed out her long grayish and dark blue hair, then headed for the wedding hall/place.

The lovely dog stood at Catherine’s side. Waiting as she got ready, or maybe they were already outside the wedding hall/place. The reddish and white dog didn’t know what to make of all this…They shook their head, then took to the brown eyed form, with neck length hair.

The pretty bird like creature sang a beautiful tune. Then looked to her friend, whom stood in their dog form. She noticed how they remained non verbal as they turned humanoid. Shaking their head, Naia changed from purple and dark red bird to purple and red haired humanoid, with wings.

The golden-brown haired and golden-brown eyed one hummed a bit. He’d finished getting ready, and was ready to head to the hall/place. He knew his friends/acquaintances would be there as well. The place had different rooms/whatever, so multiple weddings could be held. Shaking his head, he looked to his Shikigami. He then looked down at his hands. He’d put on a pretty outfit. It looked kind of like a pantsuit or some such, but for a wedding. He also had his sunflower accessories, and his fingerless gloves.

The winged one brushed a finger over one of their little reddish brown horns. They fluttered reddish brown hark or sparrow or Robin like wings. The deep brown eyed, golden-tan one was wearing the usual Yukata. They brushed at golden or tan looking hair, which became darker brown about a quarter of the way down.

The soft rustling of leaves and the distant chime of a bell filled the evening air as Kaito knelt before the shrine, his amber eyes closed in quiet meditation. The scent of incense curled around him, mixing with the damp earth and fresh rain. Tonight was different—weighted with expectation. The betrothal ceremony loomed, its significance pressing against his thoughts like the whispers of the spirits he served. His fingers traced the offering table’s worn wood as he murmured a quiet prayer. No matter how many years passed, the presence of Inari always felt the same—warm, familiar, and just out of reach.

Perched atop the shrine’s wooden gate, Taka watched the forest below with a quiet, unreadable gaze. His wings, dark as the night sky, shifted slightly as the wind whispered through the trees. The lanterns swayed gently, their glow casting flickering shadows over the shrine’s grounds. A smirk tugged at his lips as he adjusted the red scarf wrapped around his neck. The air carried a sense of anticipation—restless, electric. The betrothal ceremony would begin soon, a tradition he had seen many times, yet one that always carried its own intrigue. He exhaled slowly, already prepared for whatever the night might bring.

The upcoming betrothal ceremony weighed on his mind, though he did not let it distract him from his training. His duty as a guardian did not waver, no matter the occasion. Wiping the sweat from his brow, he glanced at his sword—an heirloom of his lineage. He sheathed it with a quiet sigh before turning toward the temple steps. Whatever awaited him tonight, he would face it with unwavering resolve.

Standing beneath the ancient torii gate, Ryūjin let his gaze drift toward the shrine, its paper lanterns flickering against the darkness. The scent of incense lingered in the crisp night air, a familiar presence woven into centuries of devotion. Tonight, however, the air felt different—charged with the weight of tradition, of vows yet to be spoken. He traced the worn grooves of the wooden pillars with his fingertips, the echoes of prayers and whispered hopes clinging to the sacred space. Time moved differently for him—unhurried, unrelenting. And yet, even he could not ignore the significance of the night ahead.

Kitsuneo lounged atop the shrine’s slanted roof, golden eyes half-lidded as he listened to the night. The rustling leaves, the distant hoot of an owl, the soft creak of wooden beams settling beneath him—it was all familiar, all constant. Yet something in the air had shifted. The anticipation surrounding the betrothal ceremony was thick, clinging to the shrine like morning mist. He stretched lazily, twin tails flicking against the cool tiles. A sacred union, a promise bound by tradition. He didn’t move to chase the thought. If fate wished to entertain him tonight, it would come to him.

The cold did not bother her—she had stood watch here for centuries, her crimson form a permanent fixture against the jagged cliffs. Tonight, however, carried a weight that even she could not ignore. The betrothal ceremony, a tradition as old as the mountains themselves, was about to begin. The runes on her skin pulsed softly in the fading twilight, as if responding to the ancient magic stirring in the air. She exhaled slowly, watching as the mist curled around the ancient torii gate behind her. Time moved forward, ever-changing, but here she remained—unyielding, eternal, a guardian without end.

Snow drifted silently from the sky, blanketing the forest in an endless sea of white. Fuyuki stood among the frozen trees, her pale form nearly indistinguishable from the swirling frost. Tonight, the air felt heavier, as if the weight of something long past had settled over the land. The betrothal ceremony was a tradition she had once known, long before winter claimed her soul. She did not move, did not speak, only watched as the distant temple lights flickered through the snow-laden branches. The world was silent, frozen in time, and she remained its lonely sentinel, an echo of something lost to the cold.

This everything was their idea, which they agreed to do, but now they felt afraid a bit. Did they make the right choice, was humans the right answer for all this? Their betrothed was a male, and they were transgender, agender, or genderless whatever others thought they could be, they didn't care, but they could never have kids, could they? They shook their large antler heads and looked up to the sky a bit, before turning to walk back to the shrine, the ceremonies will start soon and they needed to be there.

They stood tall in front of the full-length mirror, regarding themselves closely. Their waist-length black hair was pulled into a high ponytail with face-framing strands, parted around their white-tipped, black furry ears. Raiko's black silk robes with adorned with embroidered lightning bolts in an ombre of monochromatic colors. The white ropes around their waist secured the robe neatly against their lithe, slender frame. From beneath their robe, their nine tails flicked in all different directions like a sea's current. Deeming themselves ready, Raiko headed towards the ceremony area. There, they would wait for their betrothed to arrive.

The small, feminine deity finished brushing their short, dark purple hair which shone under the light of lanterns. Rather than their usual dress, Asuka wore a black kimono with red kanji and ravens adorned on the fabric. Underneath their kimono, a long plume of feathers for a tail trailed on the floor. The kimono sleeves were cut shorter than accustomed to allow room for their feathered wings connected to their arms. Asuka stepped out of their room and headed to the ceremony room where they would wait for their betrothed.

The woman touched the snowflake necklace below her collarbone, absently playing with it while Yukiko helped her get ready for the ceremony, which sent nerves flowing through her. Not to mention that Yukiko's gentle touch while she tied her sash sent a thrill going through Miyuki. She inhaled deeply and exhaled her release. "Yes... I think I'm ready, thank you," she murmured. Offering a small smile to the shrine worker, she exited the room to be greeted by Arisa, Akira, and her brother Haruto. Miyuki bowed slightly to the shrine owner and her child, though she gave her brother a smirk. "I'm ready to commence the ceremony... is Fuyuki already at the shrine?" Miyuki wondered aloud. She knew it was customary for the betrothed to arrive last, though sometimes the pairing arrived at the same time and she was unsure how this shrine would organize the ceremony.

He stood a few paces behind Arisa and Akira, allowing the family to group together. The man stared at the back of Akira's head. He would pine for the other while he waited for his sister. Haruto felt a sense of pride for her. Although he was clueless to her hidden feelings for Yukiko. He thought the blush on her cheeks was only excitement for the ceremony to come, especially when she fixed a small smirk his way after the proper greeting towards the shrine owner.

Koga hurried over to the man, not wanting his parent to worry more about the situation. "What are you doing? You should be ready for the ceremony," he hissed under his breath.

Also, idk if I need to state this but I will: the different deities are all at their respective shrines. Their ceremonies aren’t held together (though they are all on the same day.)
The Ayakashi betrothed to Onmyoji are all at one building, but their ceremonies will be different rooms. Then they’ll all be in one dining area/room/whatever for the reception since there aren’t many of them in each group.]

Inari Shrine

The paler peachy creamy skinned one hummed quietly. The redhead finished up, so she began to leave the room now. She was ready for the ceremony, and knew Raiko would probably already be there. Since they were a shrine, they were just doing the ceremony and reception in the courtyard. She smiled a bit, then shook her head. She patted Rima a couple times. She then headed out of the room. She and Rima walked along, finding Akari and saying “Good day, Akari-san.”

The dark brown haired and dark brown eyed one followed after the two girls. They looked to Akari, as they and the two girls found Akari. They said “Hello,” to their elder child, and continued to walk. They and Rima went to the chairs or mats, while Jessel looked towards Raiko.

The shorter male brushed at straight black hair, which reached the bottom of his neck. He glanced around once more. He didn’t see Miyoko…so he hurried to the kitchen. He said “Miyoko…the ceremony is going to start,” since they were all meant to be there for it.

The pretty, average height and slender feminine looking one hummed a bit. The greenish eyed one, a bit of amber in their eyes, smiled. They felt a bit hungry..but didn’t know if they should eat. Going to the kitchen, they saw Yusuke and asked “Do you think I should eat anything?”

The pretty and slender darker golden-brown haired woman glanced to Akira. She smiled at her son, then looked around for Akiko. She also noticed Haruto was there, looking at her son. She nudged Akira a bit then looked to Haruto, before looking to Miyuki and Yukiko. She smiled at the two. Giving a nod of her head to Miyuki.

The black haired one smiled as she helped the other. She was careful and gentle as she tied up the sash or whatever it was called. She’d also helped her do up her hair, or even just brush it. She smiled as she stepped back, saying “You look beautiful.” She then sighed and shook her head… “I have no clue if she’s already there…because you know she likes to be outside. I…could go find her if you want me to,” she said. She knew she’d get nervous around the Yuki Onna…but if Miyuki asked her to find her, she would.


Kirin Shrine

The black haired and dark brown eyed one watched her parent order others around…She sighed as even she was told to help. Shaking her head, she looked around for Raizo. He wasn’t there…so she wondered if he was doing training again…

The cute and pretty but somewhat handsome one sighed. He combed at his mid neck length straight light reddish colored hair, again. He then shook his head a couple times. Hoping Koga and Raizo and the others would get to the courtyard soon.

The beautiful wolf woman twitched her ears and flicked her tail. She brushed out her long grayish and dark blue hair, then found the hall/building. She stepped inside, and headed for the specific room they’d be in for the marriage. She knew they’d be with other Ayakashi and Onmyoji for the reception, though.

The lovely dog stood at Catherine’s side. The reddish and white dog, now in humanoid form, looked around a moment. They then sighed, and glanced to Naia a moment. Maia smiled at them so they nodded to her, then they followed after their mistress.

The golden-brown haired and golden-brown eyed one glanced to the two cats. The snow-white two tailed cat was up on a chair. He smiled and said “Come on, you two.” He then looked to the black furred cat, the two basically like yin and Yang, and smiled as he scratched between Ukitu’s ears.

I know Fuyuki will come when she's ready," Miyuki replied nervously.
