Collection Discussion Thread ♡ NEW Thread and Poll!* ♡

I'm aiming to collect EVERY pet on CS (I just started so I've got a looongg way to go) and I have to say this is probably the most frustrating part of my endeavor!! I feel like it should still check off 2024 as completed considering the rarity of the UR pets -- I even have every single store pet from the year.

Do you guys think its fair for UR pets to be considered towards yearly "completion", considering how few players actually receive them?? I feel like it makes it impossible for everybody striving for "perfection" to actually achieve it. Curious to hear thoughts!!

Yay! That is super exciting!! What are you starting with? Or are you going by year? Honestly, if I could do it all over again (which I have... 3 times XD. I gave up on 2), I would have started with 2008 and worked my way down. It is so much easier to get the other pets... but AAAAnyyways.. c:

Ahhh yes, the age old argument. Personally, I like having the urs count towards a complete collection. It gives a challenge.. and honestly, forces the older players with complete collections to stay around longer just to collect the new urs every year. It does upset me that storepets don't have their own section. That is arguably the hardest collection to achieve value-wise. c: My stance is that there should be three separate "labels". Maybe something like this? :

✨🎊✨ You have collected every Unrelease pet ever released!! ✨🎉✨
✨🎊✨ You have collected every pet ever released!! ✨🎉✨

I am definitely going to try! I am actually working on it now. It is funny. I was so busy collecting tons of nature stuff that I didn't even realize how many items there actually are c:

WHY! is the item wishlist archive so annoying to unadd items from. You literally have to go on a witch hunt through your entire wishlist to find one item... new suggestion idea.. code the item archive to do the same thing as the pet one when you get something on your wishlist. (have it pull up the tab where you can quickly unadd it)

watching everyone get excited c: Seems like we all started the new year off kinda
good! <3

And just like that, I have a complete pet collection. Both regular release and stores.
c: I want to sincerely thank anyone who has helped or encouraged me throughout
my efforts. I have gotten close to a complete collection twice... but never managed
to be quite there before liquidating and whatnot... but here we are!!! now time to
chillax, collect items, and frogs until the next december 18th!

off site trading, investing in things that go up in value, c$ trading?

as someone also (very casually) going for a full collection, and
having mostly only 2009 and older pets left,
those lulls where i have no fodder because no events and thus no
progress to be made are where i tend to take my hiatuses haha

i’ve never had a desire for a complete collection in all my years here on cs, just a few minor species, but the most important species to me are rats,. o:
i’ve re built & liquidated my account several times over the years, and have never reached a complete rat collection,. i managed to complete years 2013 ( & two ) and 2016, plus the one of two last remaining rats of 2012 over the weekend,!!! leaves me with a complete 2013 - 2025 rat collection, one left for 2012, and 120 more to go after that,!! (((:
feeling excited & trying to embrace the maximalist side of cs,. c:<

gosh.. I have no idea. It all really depends on how you approach it as a whole. It's cool that you were going for a full
rat collection! I started off with a realistic collection. And then I just impulsively added literally everything to my
wishlist (which was insanely overwhelming XD). If you start with each individual collections, I would go for the rarer
pets first. It is a lot easier to go for the non rarer ones, but it can really drain your fodder. For example, if you were
to use what you've got to trade for the most valuable rats first and work your way down, as you are building fodder
back up to trade for the next species, you could be collecting those more common pets. Does that make sense? vs
coming to a complete halt on everything. I wish I had done that c: It is a lot more efficient. At first, I was doing a lot
of swapping and whatnot and buying bulk with C$. It is important to try and find good deals because there is a lottt
of pets XD. By the more rarer pets, I was using FR quite a bit. Especially with the storepets. But overall, it is
entirely possible. It just takes patience. I would say go for it!!

another tip is finding a way to keep currency somewhat flowing from somewhere. I did a lot of coding so that was kinda
my "source" but a lot of people use the C$ shops for passive currency. So while you are trading your lists, you're still
building up to eventually replace the lists. c:

I am working on my item collection. I am still deciding whether I want to collect all the way up until the garland set
and whatnot or just go all the way. I guess I will have plenty of time to gather that fodder since I will be doing nothing
but collecting frogs for my frog army XD.

hi everyone! so it's been a year and half since i've made any kind of update because i was on hiatus! i am back and i'm so excited to say that i have finally achieved the UR Bengal that has eluded me for years!!! i'm getting so close to finally completing my cat collection! i am missing about 70 monthly outcomes/event pets, so i still have a bit more work to do but i'm close! I also only have 2 malk cats left! which is also super exciting!! I do have to get caught back up on my bat and lion collection because of my absence, but i am so pumped that i finally have the UR Bengal secured in my collection! :)

Right now I'm just going by year! I have everything I don't own in my WL and I check them off as I get them! It's really satisfying to see the pet count in each year gradually rise. I used to go by species/lineart but it got really complicated when it came to events where a species' lineart would be used for something else (like how the monkeys were reused for opossums).

It makes a lot of sense to give the older players something to do! I never thought about that. I do really like the idea though of having separated labels for collections, I think that would be really nice to implement. Gives more casual players who aren't so into hunting down elusive UR and store pets a sense of completion and satisfaction, and gives an extra special satisfaction to players who DO have those collections completed! That's definitely something I hope that happens in the future.

that's totally cool! that is exactly how I did it c: (I have adhd and looking at that many pets/trading people when they have
so many pets on my wishlist was super overwhelming XD ) I wish you luck and I look forward to seeing you post your progress c:
