This set is based on a New Year's tin pouring tradition! The technique of pouring molten tin/lead into water is called molybdomancy (molybdos means "lead", but for the tradition nowadays it's replaced with tin because it's far safer).
I grew up with this tradition being done in my family here in Estonia for every new year's. The purpose of it is to predict what the new year brings you.
We have stores sell tin that's been cast into horseshoe shapes just for this occasion.
You then take that tin horseshoe and place it on a ladle, and then put the ladle over a fire in the fireplace or stove. Then wait until the tin melts and carefully bring it over a bucket filled with cold water and quickly pour the ladle over, dropping the tin into the water.
Then you fish out your tin creation and try and see what it resembles. Each person is going to have their own interpretation on what they see and its meanings can be either literal or symbolic.

Some common meanings can be:
- ship, plane, or a shoe means travelling
- tree means a huge change will happen in your life, and the bigger the tree, the grander the change
- dog means finding a true friend
- chair or a bench means changing schools/jobs
- bird or horseshoe means good luck
- fish means finding more friends
- key means career advancement
- candle means death or mourning
And the texture can also have meanings:
- if a little "tail" falls off your tin, it means some sort of worry or problem that's currently in your life will disappear
- blackened area means bad luck
- fuzzy/scruffy texture on surface means you're getting a lot of money
I've also heard that if it falls apart, then you'll be having a bad year but I've also heard it means getting a lot of money. Meanings can differ a lot between countries, regions, or even between families. In the end, it is up to the person who poured their tin to decide what they see in their figurine!
Before I made this set, I looked up more history behind it and found out it is a tradition in many more countries than I initially thought! It's also a new year's tradition in Finland, Latvia, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (and possibly more!). So I think there will be quite a few users who recognize this tradition!
I grew up knowing it as a new year's tradition, but some cultures also practice tin pouring on solstices or as a ritual in other occasions.
That is amazing, thank you for sharing. I would love to do this.
Same, I wish the US had more interesting traditions sometimes XP.

Thank you so much for making this <3 it's lovely to have some familiar traditions visible here on CS. I love pouring tin as Finnish person, it's my favourite New Year tradition

I didn't know it was also a thing in Estonia, but love learning new things of our lovely neighbour <3
Finnish player π³οΈβπ he/him. My birthday is June 15th!

Currently really looking for these pets for my collection! So consider trading me if you have any of them available!

Happy new years!!!
Can we just take a second to appreciate chicken smoothie and all of the amazing staff!!??!! Theyβre absolutely amazing and bring so much every year.
Thereβs multiple special pets thoughout the year such as st Patrickβs day, Valentineβs Day,other special themed pets and things simply like βpizza dayβ
They have the general helpers cats and the staff dogs in June and September
Thereβs store pets and items every few months
Thereβs an Easter event with so many bunnies then a summer event which is always insane, Halloween and then daily Christmas pets in December,Hanukkah pets and then to top it off thereβs always new years pets corresponding with last years new years.
AND of course thereβs new monthly pets each month of each different breed of pets
I really love this game. I love how much joy it gives me, being able to celebrate my favourite holidays with everyone here is a blast. I donβt have to collect too many inrl items cause I can collect on here and it satisfies me.
Thank you chicken smoothie. <3 <3 <3
