The cream colored molly fixated her gaze on the clan’s leader. She didn’t bother to move from the entrance of her den, as she could hear and watch the clan from where she was. Birchpelt flicked her tail as she kept her gaze on Nightstar: the way Nightstar had become since the battle was nerve racking for Birchpelt. The molly desperately wanted to trust her leader, but something in the back of her mind kept her from fully following in her paw steps.

Birchpelt and Nightstar’s eyes locked for a moment, causing Birchpelt to freeze for a quick second before motioning the leader to come sit by her. She knew it’d be a little while before all of the clan was awake and ready for the day. The cream colored molly was already cursing at herself for even beckoning Nightstar to come sit with her, but she felt obligated to after locking eyes with her.

Nightstar would smile at Birchpelt and nod her head, getting up and leaping down. She'd nod at Bramblefrost as she padded by and she'd move to sit next to Birchpelt, wrapping her paws over her feet. "Good morning Birchpelt" She'd say with a soft kindness in her voice, tiredness lacing every word. Anyone could see the leader was exhausted, but she was pushing through it all for her clan. "Do you need help with anything? Perhaps hunting for herbs? Anything really to keep moving in this weather" She'd say, trying to add a light bit of humor to her tone.

Birchpelt’s body tensed slightly as Nightstar approached, not enjoying her company—not because she didn’t like Nightstar, just that she wasn’t as sociable as she used to be since the battles that struck the clan. She caught the leader’s tone quickly, hearing that exhausted tinge to it ached Birchpelt’s heart. She wouldn’t allow Nightstar to know, but she genuinely worried for her health being this mentally exhausted.

“No need for the facade, Nightstar.” Birchpelt responded quietly as she turned to face the older molly. Her deep blue eyes gazed into Nightstar’s eyes, hoping that she noticed she was being truthful with her words. “We’re all exhausted.” Birchpelt glanced towards the rest of the clan clearing before setting her eyes back onto Nightstar. “If you’d like to join me and my apprentice, we could always use more herbs,” Birchpelt paused, her heart aching to remind the leader that they were scarce of quite literally everything. “…we are scarce on everything.”

the cool leaf-bare morning sent an icy gust ruffling through maplesong's pelt. though the she-cat was reasonably long furred, her leaf-bare coat would still take another moon or two to fully come in and the soft moss she had used to make her nest had grown damp with the morning dew. five more minutes, maplesong thought to herself, scrunching her closed eyes against the pale light that was filtering through the warrior's den. ugh. with an inward groan at her body's reluctance to fall back fo sleep, the young warrior heaved herself quietly to her paws, and padded towards the entrance of the den.

with her head down against the cold, maplesong almost walked into juniperstep at the opening of the den. "oh! good morning juniperstep, i didn't see you there." she mewed in greeting as she lifted her head up. "it's cold today isn't it? i wonder if snow is on the way..." she looked up at the sky as she spoke, mostly to herself, to inspect the clouds that were beginning to form in the distance. as her gaze traveled back to her fellow warrior, the she-cat caught a glimpse of the dwindling free kill pile. "are you scheduled for any patrols today?" she asked, "if not, would you like to hunt with me? it might help to warm us up."

    larkpaw ● he/him ● apprentice ● tags: none

pale shadows haunted larkpaw's dreams, chasing him through ambiguous forests with twisting brambles and glowing eyes. deep down, he knew it was his family chasing him. or maybe it was the manifestation of his guilt. the sense of unease followed the tom into his waking moments as he rose from his nest and glanced around the den. he slept away from his denmates, not trusting those who had come from what was once snowclan. nightstar was mouse-brained to invite them to their group, and though he had voiced his concerns before, he was too loyal to his leader to push it even further. with a last look through narrowed eyes at the strangers he shared a den with, larkpaw pushed his way out of the entrance of the apprentice's den.

his dark hazel eyes took a second to adjust to the bright morning sun. another miserable day. he thought pitifully to himself. larkpaw would of liked nothing more than to work the sleep from his body with a brief run around the territory, but nightstar forbade anyone from leaving camp alone, he thought with a sarcastic roll of his eyes. yes, the rogues had attacked the clans, but clearly they had what they wanted now as they hadn't seen a whisker of any rogues since they decided to settle in this forsaken place.

making a bitter list of all the things larkpaw hated about his new way of life, he trotted to the edge of the clearing and sat himself down as he waited for his mentor to awake.

The smile touched Nightstar's eyes this time, "It's... It's a trying time" She admitted softly. She was exhausted, not just from the stress but from a lack of sleep. The new den felt so lonely, even if it wasn't cold, and the way the wind screamed through the ravine at times reminded her far too much of the yowls of the battles only a moon earlier.

She nodded along to what Birchpelt was saying, "Leaf-bare is by far the worst season for herbs, but at least it's untouched around here so if anything is hiding under the snow we'll find it." She gave an encouraging smile to the she-cat, glancing into the medicine cat den for a moment to see if her nephew was awake. "I'm happy to help whenever you decide to head out."

Cranepaw || he/they || med. app
camp clearing | tags: Larkpaw

Cranepaw woke in a miserable mood. It was a dull, freezing cold day and he could feel the bitter wind even before stepping out of the apprentices' den. It seemed every day had been like that lately- though he wasn't sure if that was true or only because he himself had been feeling so empty and bitter. Was the world really so cold or was it just him? Another breeze blew through, chilling him to the bones, and he decided that, no, it really was just that awful and cold.

Fluffing his fur up to the best of his ability, he pushed his way past the other nests, careful not to wake Butterflypaw. It was pitiful how few cats there were in this new clan. Every time he thought of the once bustling Pineclan and compared it to the now comparably miniscule Nightclan he could feel a burning in the back of his throat. He stepped into the camp, intending to find Birchpelt and start on his tasks for the day, but was quickly distracted noticing Larkpaw nearby. He was sat on the edge of the clearing by himself. Should Cranepaw say hi? It would be polite. He didn't really want to, he was too tired to deal with others right now, but him and Larkpaw had been clanmates in Pineclan before, so ignoring him would be rude.

Decision made, Cranepaw pasted on his brightest smile, forcing a spring into his step as he sauntered over towards the other apprentice. "Larkpaw, good morning!" he called, voice chipper and upbeat. "Beautiful weather, huh? So warm!" He shivered dramatically, grinning.

Applebriar || he/him || warrior
camp entrance | tags: open

Shivering, Applebriar padded between the trees, winding his way towards the camp entrance with a hurry. He'd set out on his own for a dawn patrol, checking their new territory for any sign of the rogues. Thankfully, there was none. He wasn't sure what he would have done had he run into any, but he felt the need to check nonetheless. With so few of them left he couldn't help but worry, wanting to make sure they all remained safe in their new home, even if that meant waking up early and going out into the freezing cold on his own. And, oh, was it cold!

Finally reaching the entrance he ducked in, finding a bit of relief from the wind. Sighing, he shook himself once, attempting warm his stiff muscles. 'I know moving north was the safest decision, but I can't say I'm a fan of this weather,' he thought, grumbling a little as he sat himself under some cover.

Silent 1. | White 1.

Silentshadow
〖Female〗〖Deputy〗〖38 m〗

〖Location: Meeting Rock〗
〖Apprentice: Larkpaw〗

The sounds of her clanmates rising from their nests caused the mottled she-cat to open her eyes. It took her a moment to adjust as she had watched leave the den. Nightstar had appointed her as deputy not long after the founding of Nightclan. Now that it's leaf-bare, things have been tense and the clan has been looking to her and Nightstar for guidance. A slight sigh escaped her maw as Silentshadow slipped out of the warrior's den past Juniperstep and Maplesong, making her way into the camp clearing.

She did her best to fluff her pelt to keep warm as she scanned the area for a moment. The icy wind made her spine crawl with every step as she edged closer towards the meeting rock. Leaping up on the meeting rock, Silentshadow turned to face the clearing only to see Maplesong and Juniperstep mingling together, Birchpelt and Nightstar, Cranepaw and her apprentice Larkpaw. It seemed no other cat has yet to leave the den but she needed to get dawn patrols rolling. Before she sat up to yowl for the clan to gather, she spotted Applebriar entering the camp... alone.

Silentshadow's piercing green eyes locked onto the curly brown and white tom, making it clear that her gaze meant to burn into his pelt. It was clan law to never leave the camp alone and yet here this ex-Snowclan cat is.. breaking a clan law. Lashing her tail, the mottled molly yowled for the clan to gather, whether they were awake or not.

Whiteflame

The white flame-point tom flicked his ears as he began hearing his fellow clan mates begin to stir in the warrior's den. His ice blue eyes narrowed as he watched a few of the warriors leave the den. Whiteflame's thoughts urged him to get up and join them but his body said other wise. The older tom had no intention on getting up as early with the others in that moment in time. As the tom closed his eyes for what seemed like only a few moments, he shot his eyes back open and slowly raised his head up to somewhat peer outside the den when he heard Silentshadow yowl.

A small sigh escaped the tom's maw as he stood from his nest and slowly began making his way out of the warrior's den. It took a moment for Whiteflame to prepare himself to leave the den, it seemed that Maplesong and Juniperstep had decided to sit near the entrance of the den. The older tom didn't blame his clan mates one bit.

Bramblefrost | He/Him | Warrior | Tags: Silentshadow

Bramblefrost would watch the deputy as she would leap up, following her gaze to Applebriar, who he tilted his head at in confusion... They weren't supposed to go out alone. "I'm here for Dawnpatrol" he said to the she-cat as he'd pad up and sit below the rock, his long fur fluffed up again the cold. "It feels dawn is colder and colder these days" He'd try to make small talk, "It was cold back in our territories before but... here it just feels like it's even colder".

lark 2 ●

Postby animated » Sun Dec 29, 2024 9:28 am

    larkpaw ● he/him ● apprentice ● tags: larkpaw

a brisk breeze ruffled larkpaw's pelt, sending a shiver up his spine; the tall, rocky walls of the ravine did a good job of keeping most of the wind out of the camp but it also meant that the sun took longer to fill the clearing, casting long shadows and making the wind feel colder than it really was. larkpaw gave his chest a disgruntled lick to try and smooth down some of his fur against the cold. he was very aware that the rest of the clan was beginning to wake and took note of his mentor, silentshadow, emerging from her den and jumping onto the meeting rock.

the young tom was about to get up to join her when he spotted cranepaw padding over to him. he didn't really have much of an opinion on the fellow apprentice; he couldn't understand why any cat would choose to be a medicine cat apprentice but the tom was also from pineclan so he knew he could trust him. "good morning, cranepaw." he mewed calmly, dipping his head in greeting as his denmate joined him. "oh yes, you'd almost think it was green-leaf with how warm i am." larkpaw appreciated the sarcastic humour from cranepaw. "i was thinking about jumping in the frozen waterfall over there to cool off, care to join me?" he teased back as he watched the tom shiver dramatically.

larkpaw was about to stand to take an equally dramatic step in the direction of the frozen waterfall, when he caught sight of his mentor lashing her tail in anger. following her gaze, he saw applebriar sneaking his way back through the entrance of the camp. "pfft!" he scoffed. "some cats just don't understand the rules it seems. has he forgotten what happened to the patrol that strayed too close to the cave?" larkpaw shook his head in disbelief, of course it was an ex-snowclan warrior breaking the rules. with a narrowed glare in applebriar's direction, he turned to move closer to the meeting rock as silentshadow's call rang out.

Darkblossom - she-cat - queen - open for crushes - tags: open
~~
She woke up at the nursery, alone. Well, she still had her kits, which sure gave her some hope and something else to think about other than her fallen mate. She missed him a lot, and the situation right now confused her a bit. So much happened during this little time. She flicked her ears a bit as she heard some faint conversations coming to the camp clearing, it was still early so she thought if any patrols were out yet, it could not bother her at all if they were as she could not join any of them at the moment. Scretching a bit she shook her tortoiseshell fur a bit and stepped out of the nursery looking up to the sky before taking a look around the camp.

Butterflypaw - she-cat - apprentice - mentor is Hexmoon - crush is Cranepaw - tags: open
~~
She was sleeping at her nest, flicking her ears a bit when she slowly woke up at the paw steps leaving the apprentice den. She knew it was Larkpaw getting out of it, even if the former Pineclan apprentice tried to get out silently, she somehow woke up, likely not because of him, but for other reasons. She had a very weird dream, but she could not fully remember it anymore. Yawning a bit the diluted tortoiseshell she-cat stretched her legs a bit and walked out of the apprentice's den. Her eyes looked around seeing the deputy there and many others, speaking of the Larkpaw and Cranepaw as well. She didn't really know what to think about it, she felt rather lonely a bit as the other two apprentices were from the same clan, when she was from, Snowclan, she didn't know the two at all. She walked over to the fresh-kill pile to see if there was anything to offer but felt like she didn't want to eat at the moment so she turned around to look for her mentor Hexmoon.
