It's a little strange to se pet pairs from teh same litter, but I'll look forward to a story.

As the beautiful young woman stood with her bare feet on the shoreline, she took a deep breath of the sea air. The longing in her heart for the deep blue waves would never cease to disappear. The ocean was a part of her.

No doubt she was happy with the new life she led on land, but always at the back of her mind and heart was the endless mixture of sea and sky. These waters had once been her home.

Ever so slowly, she dipped her toes into the water and closed her eyes as a cooling sensation washed over her. Walking deeper and deeper into the waves, she inhaled the scents around her. She watched as a tear fell from her face into the water, watched as it made tiny ripples.

Tears continued to fall from her face as her longing to live in the ocean increased. How she missed it so ... of course, there was one way ...

Walking deeper into the sea until she could no more feel the sand beneath her feet, she turned back to the shore. Blowing a gentle kiss, she took out a silver dagger from the folds of her dress. Plunging it into her heart, the girl felt her tail form once more as those last few precious moments of her life slipped away.

Taking one last breath, she smiled softly and closed her eyes. The waves swirled gently around their young princess's lifeless body, ready to take her home at last.

A masquerade. That made it easy. Well, easier; it was never easy.

It was a big party, people streaming in and out of the lighted mansion. It was no problem for me to slip in amongst the hordes of party-goers.

Inside I wandered through the seas of people in the ballroom, looking for my target. I didn't know his name; I preferred not to. I don't want to know who my targets are, what their names are, what they're accused of. I want to imagine them all as the worst people possible, even if they don't look like it. One of the most important rules in my profession: the greenness of the grass on the other side is just paint. In other words, the person was never as innocent as they looked.

Then I saw him. He matched the description perfectly and was surrounded by a group of guests. Then he spotted me, waved me over.

"Welcome to my party!" he said, laughing. "I don't recognize you, but then again I don't recognize most people here!" The people gathered around him laughed with him. I smiled weakly and moved away, reminding myself of another rule: don't play with your food. There was no reason to get involved with a target.

I moved away, spotted a balcony half-hidden in the shadows. Perfect.

...

Up in the balcony, I took aim--and a deep breath. I pulled the trigger...and my target moved at the last second, ducking. Dumbfounded, I stood in place while the guests screamed. I tried to think of my training...what should I do if my first shot missed. Then the answer came: get out. I began to turn, still looking at my target.

But they definitely never taught me what to do if my target stood up and smiled straight at me.

At that moment I felt large bodies on either side, and a strong-smelling cloth was pressed against my nose and mouth. I cursed my foolishness, my mistakes, as I fell unconscious.

...

The blackness in my mind was clearing away. What had happened? Oh...no... I startled myself awake...shaking the chair I was tied to. I immediately began trying to work my way out, wriggling and twisting. A second later I looked up, and found myself staring into the eyes of the man who was supposed to have been my target.

His chin was propped on his hands, an amused smile on his face.

"So," he said, dragging the word out. "I would have thought my assassin would be smarter than this. Or, in any case, my would-be assassin."

Yeah, the ending was supposed to be somewhat happy. The decorations didn't make the egg hatch, but it gave people hope. x3

Her eyes, usually bricky and uneven, were focused straight ahead. "Why would he run away?"

"I don't know, Ellen. Quit askin' me." His hand brushed a lock of hair from her face; he did it all the time. "Our boy was old enough to want to go. I don't see why we can't let him go. He'll be fine... I reckon he had to leave sometime."

"But why now?" She was exasperated. "Why without saying a word?"

"Maybe he's been tryin' to say a word all along, honey."

His feet thwarted across the murky underbrush as he ran. His chest, heaving up and crashing down, signaled he was exerting himself. But it couldn't stop him, as he continued to go and go. Trees gossiped as he swiped by, kicking up dirt and sediments.

Look at that boy go!

Their comments rang in his ears. It was like a telephone that never quit; only could it go on and on.

Makes you wonder what he's running from, huh?

Despair choked on his face, but he kept going. His arm launched the small sack of items he wanted to take with him into the forest. It made a small smack, but he did not flinch. Hair tousling in the wind, he tried his best to drown them out.

Go, kid, go! I'm rooting for you~

That tree sounded different. He skidded to a halt, almost flying forwards into another tree. Whipping his head back, his eyes graciously met a young woman. Her eyes were a solidified pink--they seemed to glow profoundly--and a small smile was on her face as she rocked on her heels. Too caught up in catching his breath [or trying to catch hers?] he didn't notice she was stepping closer.

Toxik: So the limo should be here at 8?
I smiled at the text. For the past half hour, we were texting about the dance. I texted back.
Sterling: Yep. Around 8. See you there.

I closed my phone and dropped it right in my pocket. I was in a extremely good mood, so I went to the park to take a walk. That's what I usually did when I was happy about something. It sounds boring, but there could be a lot in a park when taking walks. Birds chirping, and all that kind of stuff. Ooh, guess who I ran into?
"Oh my gosh! Hey, Sterling!" Toxik yelled, waving her hands while jogging to me. I stood frozen, my mouth hanging open. Was I dreaming?
"Don't do that. You'll get bugs in your mouth." Toxik giggled. I closed my mouth, and blinked a few times.
"Okay.... What are you doing here?" I asked her, still a bit stunned.

"Walking my normal route. I always walk when I'm happy."
"Same here."
"Cool. Do you want to walk together?"
I gasped at the question. I probably shouldn't have done it though, because Toxik frowned.
"Anything wrong? Come on!" She giggled, and grabbed my hand. I followed, probably because I didn't she'd get mad.

Popular+Mad=Complete torture and embarrassment.

We sat down in a bench and laughed. We had bought burgers and fries, and we had been talking. She even told me a joke or two. We both had the same tastes! We both liked the same music, food, color, and all that other stuff. We were really having a great time. "Hey, Toxik." I said, putting down the burger.
"Yes?"
"Why did you choose me to go to the dance?"

Complete silence. It was like she never did ask. Impatience flowed over me, but I just ate my burger peacefully while she was quiet. She had finally spoke a few seconds after.
"You know, when we were little, I liked you. I didn't say it though, I would be totally embarrassed. Back then, you were hanging out with the 'cool' guys, until that mistake. You know, when you spilled your lunch all over them by slipping over a spill. Anyway, I've liked you ever since. Even when I did hit the popularity chart big time when I won the Talent Show, 5 years ago. That's why. My friends didn't agree with my decision, but I ignored it." she answered, eating her burger right after.

I dropped my burger, completely stunned at her answer. She did like me? Even when we were little? It had surprised me. I picked up my burger, dropping it in the trash next to us. I turned back to look at her, and when I did, Toxik just smiled a bit.
"I really liked you to, you know. But when you hung out with the popular girls, I knew I had no chance." I replied.
"How come?"
"That's just the way it goes."
"For popularity? It doesn't matter what you are, or what 'rank'-" she stopped, doing air quotes for 'rank'. I chuckled.
"You are. You do what you want to do and if you like someone below your rank, well who cares. It's there problem who doesn't like it." Toxik finally finished, eating her burger in peace. I smiled at that.
"French Fry?" I asked, handing her the box of fries. She laughed.
"Sure."

I waved goodbye as she entered her home. I had walked her home, since we did live in the same neighborhood. I walked along the sidewalk, in a very happy mood. I couldn't wait for the dance, it would be the best night ever. Just two days away. I thought.

{That's the end of part 2. I was thinking that he would break his leg or arm, and he'd have to stay in the doctor or something, so he couldn't go to the dance.
