It was cold out here.
Yep, this was among Trish's only thoughts at this point, sitting outside her relaxation vault, leaning against the rail. She didn't even seem to notice the near endless pit or the absolutely huge expanse in all directions, only obstructed with, you guessed it, more vaults. She didn't know what to think anymore, you know. What was the last thing she remembered, anyway? Green stuff, mostly. Potatoes, for some reason. You know, meaningless things without context.
Minutes before, she'd woken up to an automated recording just ending its speech with a repetitive 'nine nine nine...' a few seconds prior to it fizzling out in nicely punctuated static. Then there was simply nothing. No one knocking on the door of the vault cleverly disguised as a cozy apartment room (though, with an innumerable age, it looked pretty disgusting, to tell the truth), no one coming to tell her how her father had made another breakthrough, just the feeling of a damp, sunken bed and the breathing of recycled air.
So Trish just left, opening the door and stepping out on the catwalk, sitting down and curling against her knees, staring into the room she was just now seeing as her vault. One might think she was going into shock, or something, withdrawing indefinitely. That wasn't the case. She was just trying to think, is all. Despite her (relatively, she'd argue) childish nature, she had a sharp mind when she willed it into action... She wasn't finding much will to do so right now though. So, with an empty head to accompany an empty stare, she watched the dust trickle from the ugly ceiling of her Relaxation Chamber. Her chamber. She almost couldn't believe it...
What did she have to believe anymore? That she was... sometime, somewhere, somehow? Yeah, that was really reassuring, to know you didn't know squat. She finger-combed her hair absentmindedly, not noting how dirty it felt alone... She finally decided to move. Standing up with slightly shaky legs, Trish simply started walking. She didn't know where, but the largeness of the Relaxation Center coupled with the lack of heating gave the gusty air quite a chilling bite. So, tending to like the concept of self-preservation, she wanted to find a place that wasn't trying to turn her insides into ice. Exaggerating, maybe. Comfortable, no. Luckily, there was a door nearby! Huzzah! She practically ran through, forgetting to close the door as she ran down the hallway, chased by a cold breeze...
Then she burst through another door, and shut it behind her. A glass panel at one end of the room signified that she was in the area overlooking the test chambers... She didn't know what to do from here, even less so than when she was mindlessly sitting out in the Relaxation Center...
