Panster. I never plan anything. The most planning I've ever done was with my colab book and that was because my co-writer and I needed to be on the same page with where the plot was going. Most of the time I just start writing and if I find something doesn't work I go back and change it

Plantser I would say; I have rough plans in mind, but generally go with the flow and change things on the fly.
Take Flam's storyline for example - I have planned out her journey to The Overhanging Great Wall of China, and I have identified set places she will visit on her travels, but everything else is random as I write! Plus, as I write one part, something further down will probably change anyway.

Im a writer who relies on mood to write, so planning to much can lead to writers block if I lose the mood Having rough plans but the ability to flex allows me to write regardless of mood swings!

Probably not. LOL The end is a perpetual 2-3 chapters away. haha
I've also gotten less time at work this month to work on it than I thought. But I've had a couple of solid writing sessions where I've gotten a good bit done. I'm in climax territory so now I just get to ride the roller coaster down to the end.

Plantser. I do, what feels like, an equal amount of both. When I write, it's this kind of feeling of letting my characters drive their story. I know the direction we're going, but they get a little say in the route it takes to get there. But, there are certain scenes and moments that I plan almost relentlessly.

There's a certain scene and following sequence of events that I just got to write a couple of months ago after going through it in my head probably several thousand times. Over the course of probably what amounts to close to a decade, in free moments, I would just think about the scene, ponder it, imagine the characters faces and dialogue.

Just recently, in Fortis, one character ended up dead who I never meant to kill. But, it just sort of happened? It was the natural flow, and it was all just exactly how he would have responded in that situation. I lamented it, but at the same time, going back and re-writing it "as planned" would feel less authentic somehow.

I feel very much like a spirit guide to my characters. XD I'm there to help them, and watch over where they want to go, and just point them this way or that, or tell them, "Hey, we actually do need to do that thing now. So please go do it." When I write, my head is just a TV playing a scene and I try to capture the motions of what's happening in writing.

here's a bit about me/ my writing journey: i've been really passionate about writing since i was a kid! my mum told me that i'd always write little stories on the family computer when i was really young lol! i began writing fanfictions in my pre-teens and eventually began to create my own characters and storylines as i got older (plus i roleplayed here on CS a lot when i was younger too!). i've sadly never finished a project because i cannot stick to one idea -- i have too many unfinished projects and i want to change that !!

anything else? i'm happy to find a little writing community here! i get very shy about my writing (ironic, considering writing is something that is usually shared haha) so i don't talk to my friends/family about it -- hopefully i'll find the courage to share something here one day c:

definitely a planner. honestly, sometimes i wish i could just go with the flow and wing things because planning things out in advance gives me writer's block very often :c but i'm just a person who likes things to be orderly and planned out in general so i find myself trying to plan out the entire plot/story before i even begin writing it.

I feel like I'm a planster, more leaning toward "flying by the seat of my pants." For most things I write, I have a very general idea of how I want the story to go, then I decide the details as I write.

here's a bit about me/ my writing journey: i've been posting my writing online (and then rapidly deleting it when i decide it's embarrassing) since the ripe old age of about 9 (for reference, [redacted] so it's been a while...) and writing my own silly stories even longer! while writing hasn't been my main creative pursuit in the last few years and has taken a backseat to my visual art, it's something that i absolutely adore doing, whether it's working towards my bucket list goal of publishing at least one book in my lifetime (horror/thriller, because i love to write creepy things!), writing self-indulgent fanfiction, or roleplaying on tumblr with a fantastic group of people.

anything else? hihi, i'm super new to CS in general but everyone has been super welcoming the for that short time! i was a forum kid (wcrpg/feralfront lol) and it feels a little like coming home to be able to post in threads like this and play forum games again. it's super nice to meet you all!

as much as i wish i was a planner, i err much more on the side of pantser. a mix of adhd and struggling to get joy out of a project if i don't see the progress with my own eyes means i'm usually either completely unmotivated (but working on it!) or writing like it's the only thing i know how to do. often, this is spurred on by the classic "i was lying in bed and was suddenly struck with something i need to write" scenario. in short, i try to plan but my brain is much too eclectic for it a lot of the time!

and LOL, i dont know that i answered the QOTW (at this point it's become a Question of the Advent :sob:), but my answer would probably be the opposite of yours, funnily enough LOL !!! i'm a plantser in the notion that i go with the flow throughout the entire plot, i see where my characters take me, but i'm a planner in small events/happenings in my story! if there's a specific scene in my brain, i have to do an outline to avoid getting writer's block :'))

aaaaaa anyways enough blabbing from me, we're so excited to have you here and hope that you settle in well!! <3

Hey guys its been a while! Hope the Holidays are going well :) Im so happy with my Dec 18th pulls, I got my first UR pet with the new snake *sobs* Plus Scourge?? Insane.

do you have any writing goals for the new year? share some if you're comfortable!

Since I work better doing multiple small goals than one huge one, I'd like to write small stories for all my characters that don't have any yet! Just little ficlets/scenes to get a better grasp of their personality, mannerisms, way of speaking, etc. There's certain ocs of mine that I focus on more than others ngl, so I wanna share the love lol.

Congrats on the snake!! I got nothing fancy, but one was a dreamie my friend has been dying for so gave her an early Christmas present ^^

My main goal is probably just to continue solidifying Flams world (Aftermath - humans have vanished, leaving behind their buildings/items/everything, and Flam the giraffe seeks to preserve all she can). I really want to get the full draft of her visit to the Overhanging Great Wall done if I can - got the route laid out, just need to actually write it out!

Then want to really dig deep into Kirat, a planet in my Elysian System which is ruled by feral cats, and a lovers quarrel has spiraled into the start of a civil war between the Rich and the Poor. Again I have a lot of ideas done and some key points that lead to the civil war, but I wanna really start writing it up in between Aftermath sessions ♡

These seem huge, but I write so sporadically in that "it depends on my mood" that hopefully I'll get a lot done in the next year ♡
