Darkcloud! wrote:No Support. The concept of the pound is that you are taking a pet to keep it. This might have changed, but all the messages and phrasing around the pound and the actions you take, even the name, indicate that this is meant to be for taking a pet you intend to keep. If a player is taking primarily from the pound to resell, then they should continue to have to put in the work to remove the messages from getting rid of a pound pet.
Agree with this.
No support for this reason and the reasons already listed in the beginning of this thread over 10 years ago. I've been reading every response to this thread and it seems like people kept moving the goal posts about what bothered them about the messages as well. To those now claiming the message is too triggering, apparently the message doesn't even mention the possibility of your pet previously being put to sleep anymore. It's the right amount of guilt trippy now, and that's the point. You're supposed to feel bad for trading away a
free rescue pet. If you were a younger player and saw that message and cried, that was the point, you were supposed to feel bad and think twice about using the Pound for that purpose and the admins were well aware of this. 10000000x no support.
Never even seen these messages before or knew they existed because I'm only ever using the Pound to claim pets that are on my wishlist and most pets on my wishlist are pets that I haven't collected yet and therefore won't be leaving my account ever. Not that that matters at all, just thought it was interesting that this is apparently such a huge issue for some people but something others could go their entire account's life without realizing.

I am kind of shocked this thread is over 10 years old - bumping to support
Guilt tripping players if they want to trade a pet they received from the pound has struck me the wrong way for years - this is literally just a video game and you're trading data, not actual animals. The game is built around trading as one of (arguably the most important) its core features and wanting to pseudo-punish users for trading away a pound pet makes 0 sense. Plus, many users have been playing for years and the pound message no longer has its intended effect since people are desensitized to receiving tons already, and it serves as an annoyance when clearing PMs.
Maybe the sentimentality of keeping all pets from the pound forever was more common back in a time when the economy wasn't in its current state and there wasn't such a huge scale of rarity seen in the difference of trading value between this month's adopts and old store pets like the Raven, but in today's CS a lucky pound catch may be the only opportunity for newer users to adopt pets rare enough they can use to trade for dreamies or work their way up the ever-growing rarity list. If someone wants to keep all their pound pets, that's fine, but letting users decide to do with their own pets once they are, you know, their owners, should be one of the core facets of the site IMO. If it's fine for people to literally delete their pets, why is trading Pound pets so frowned upon?
Don't even get me started on the old pound PM messages that mentioned putting down the pet... I can't believe that existed for so many years in the same breath with a website claiming to be child friendly

i completely support this.
the pound message definitely rubs me the wrong way, and i don't like how guilt-trippy it is, it makes me upset. Sure, thats the point of it, to make users keep pound pets, but its not a real pet. Its pixels on a screen, and the tone of the pm could really make people not feel good, especially if their trading tje pound pets to a friend or anybody else.
I joined CS because i liked the concept of collecting virtual pets, i didn't join to have a sob story thrown at me, i didn't join to feel sad either, it just isn't right.
Atleast give us a option to turn it off / disable it, and it is very annoying having to check my new messages and seeing that a pet messaged me asking me not to trade them away, it makes me hesitate trading (well obviously), but what if that pound pet could of gotten me a pet i really wanted? sorry for the yap, i'm pretty sleepy so this may of not came out right.

you can disable this though! if you go to your messages and click the little box on the left that says rules, folders and settings and click the box that says if: subject, it will show you a drop down list of options. you’ll keep it on subject and click next, then click begins with. you can then type in anything (in this case a message from your pet) and click the option that says delete. you’ll still get the message notification, but you won’t see the message.

Common L&F win /j
But in all seriousness I full support, it's honestly baffling how users are essentially pseudo-punished with spam and an automated guilt trip for literally interacting with the core part of the website. The Pound's goal should've always just been for you to be able to adopt a pet at random times of the day-- Where the pet belongs should be decided by the user and the user alone.

bumping this up before it gets lost to inactivity, it's been years and I'm honestly convinced this could be a disco yeti or load bearing coconut png issue, but we haven't had any confirmation on that at all...
After 11 years of seeking, I finally obtained my all-time dream on October 1, 2020 ;w;
