an actual fact: emily dickinson is a prolific poetry writer, but her works were largely unknown during her lifetime! many people theorize about the reasons why she led a solitary/secluded life, and many more people acknowledge that her poetry actually benefited from the lack of "other eyes" on it during its creation! due to the lack of an audience, she writes things more "near and dear" to her, and forgoes general practices typically used to placate audiences in her time-period.

that being said, she's renowned for the skillful writing she made!!

my personal favorite from her is poem 409, "The Soul selects her own Society-". !! i like it because its her justification for living a solitary life, and because of my own personal interpretation of it!!
