Oooh, so that's why bengals have that distinctive rufousing to them?

Actually not quite. Bengals are a weird case where its more likely their color is from a strain in Corin. It is however concretely found that abyssinians and somalis have this coloration due to specifically bred hyper-pigmented rufousing and are not corin!
