This question personally frustrates me because while yes, I do enjoy new item releases and would be overall excited to have "special" or "unique" items to collect, it seems like such a hopeless feat without rarity tags. Item trading is, and has always been, so much more complicated than pet trading with the lack of rarities. And like many other users have pointed out, it seems preemptive to release UR items without first having a solid foundation for item trading in general. With many guides being outdated, or (understandably) slow to update as more research is collected, a lot of it is still a shot in the dark without any tangible system or indicators like rarity tags. I know the suggestion for item rarities has already been shut down, but until another solution is provided, it's hard for me to back the notion of introducing yet another complication.
Additionally, it's hard for me to wrap my head around the concept of a "UR" item being any different from another item. Unlike pets, which have a pretty structured set of species/linearts, items are vastly more unique. With the exception of the occasional reused lines, virtually every item that gets released is "unique". At least with the cakes, there's a sense of it being a truly unreleased item that was originally going to be part of a set but never was. But with unique UR items, why would I view them as inherently special from other items other than the assumption that they are harder to find? For example, store pets and UR pets generally have altered linearts or even entirely new linearts, which adds to their appeal and sense of being special. But if almost every item on the site is unique, what makes the UR item stand out? Will they be plushies, foods/drinks, scenery items? We already have those. Costumes/clothing, accessories, wigs? We have those, too. I guess I'm just struggling to imagine what these new items will be.
On the other hand, item re-releases are an entirely different story for me, and I'm thrilled to see that they'll start giving away retired store items in the dress-up contests each month. So many retired items (or just older items in general) are locked away in inactive accounts, never to be traded again. Reintroducing virtually extinct/impossible-to-trade-for items will be soooo helpful for item collectors!
I do greatly appreciate the chance to have our voices and opinions heard! It means a lot that CS is taking the time to pose these questions to the community.
