Kitty trying out for: B546K1
Prompt:
A vicious plague had struck her home, one that was already troubled for years before. She hadn't believed her sister, Sage, when she said the clan was done for, and stayed until she watched it happen with her very eyes. Cats fell to both battle and illness alike, and when she alone was the last one standing, she accepted defeat, surrendering herself to the elements of Mother Nature herself.
She wandered for a time, learning everything she could about the world. How to forage for herbs, how to conquer enemies even larger than herself, and most importantly, how to survive. But one thing eluded her during her wonders - how could she live? She dreaded every moment more than the last, wondering if the next breath would be her last. The world had grown to be a cold place, and she wasn't ready to embrace it quite yet.
That was, until, she found herself in a forest one day, and scented a familiar aroma on the horizon. Was that...? No, it couldn't be. But something drew her to it, like a whisper of affection and sympathy, fogging her mind. She followed it, and before her stood a large camp, with cats wandering about. Just on the edge of the camp, sorting through a pile of herbs, was her sister, Sage. Something seemed to catch the orange molly's attention, for she gazed up, and looked back at Iris, her eyes widening.
"Iris! You're alive!" The molly ran, quickly flinging herself towards Iris. The two landed on the ground in an emotional bundle, talking to one another with smiles and grins of reminiscence. After a while, Sage stood up, looking back at her camp. "This... is the Heart of Decay. This is the clan I was telling you about, that was beckoning to me."
"Is it as... troubled as our past clan?" Iris warily inquired, sighing in relief when Sage shook her head.
"It's more like... a refuge, for cats who come from backgrounds much like us! I was welcomed with open paws, and they even let me collect my bones!"
"Ohh, you never shook that interest. Oh boy." Iris chuckled.
Seeing the way Sage's gaze lit up, and how bustling the camp was, Iris went from not knowing her path ahead to having it set without a doubt in her mind.
She may of failed her past clan, but she has a new destiny now.
Protect the Heart of Decay with everything I have.
