Positions for Moderators and Artists are currently CLOSED.

Applicants are reviewed by all staff, those who are picked will be contacted through ChickenSmoothie pms.

- Applicants for staff must be 18+ (do not share your age with us, this is just a baseline guide)
- Applicants must have been on CS for a minimum of 3 months, preferably 5+.
- Applicants must have a discord.

Perks of being a Moderator:
- Pearl payments for rolling.
- Preclaiming from litters that are being released.
- Personal recolors(s) per month.

- Do not remove the "FAKE" mark on the Vastral, moving it around to fit better is fine.
- At minimum you must create one standard, one litter (3-6 Vastrals) and one custom Vastral.
- Vastral entries cannot be based on any ocs, copyrighted content or preexisting Vastrals. Doing so will void your application.
- Vastral entries cannot be taken out of this thread, or reused in any way.
- Vastrals do not need to stay in the exact same canvas size of 147x106, and can be edited as much as you like,
but they must still be recognized as a Vastral.

Why do you want to be an Artist for Vastrals?: i miss drawing on a tiny pixel base and these were just too darling to pass up applying for (insert my little :hehe: emoji here). actually though i love the concept you got going on!! more participation based than anything. and i love doing pixel-style art and love making things for other people! imagine if i didnt tho imagine that.

Why do you want to be an Artist for Vastrals?:
I'm not sure how to word the excitement I got seeing this species pop up on my radar! I've lived by the ocean my whole life - it's my home, my comfort, and my muse. I just adore the marine theme that Vastrals offer, and I want to be able to share my designs and art with a community of people who get to love and cherish their new little buddies, as well as bring their ideas to life. drawing these vastrals below was such an amazing learning opportunity and I genuinely had so much fun creating them! i'd love to keep doing these little guys and help the species thrive.

1 : I really wanted to work with orange and blue for this
one, as they remind me of squids and the shoreline
2 : green & brown, a good colour combo if they're the right
shades! went for a more coastal rainforest kinda look.
3 : [minimal line edits] inspired by the slight flecks of colours in black feathers !!

since vastrals seem to live along various islands, I wanted to make some
aquatic versions of the little guys. I adore fish, especially reef ones!!

1 ; "shipwrecked" - I think my best design so far !! I wanted to do a gloomy sea theme and I think they are able to convey that.
2 ; "raven" - I wanted to work with a texture other than fur, which I tried to translate into pixel art!
3 ; "pearler" - I had to make a pearl-themed vastral. this particular coat is quite shiny!
4 ; "star shower" - the beach at night is such a comfort to me. i had to doone that reminded me of the starlight above it !!
5 ; the first custom I did for my application. i love brown and gold combos!
6+7 ; jellyfish lines - two of these! the first is based off a chirodectes, and the second a fun recolour.
8 ; "sea leviathan" - i needed to make a deep-sea vastral! they probably live in the deep dark and occasionally surface in the dark hours of the night to the islands.

Why do you want to be an Artist for Vastrals?: I’ve been in my fair share of umas and Vastrals seems like such a nice one, the community so far has seemed amazing, I much prefer drawing on a smaller base and being able to try fit as much detail as I could in a small space, it gives an opportunity for some adorable little critters too.

Little fox in a jumper
- Any animal always looks absolutely adorable in a jumper, foxes are no exception and I will always find an excuse to draw them

- Seemed like a cute idea and wanted to try out some different cat patterning than I normally do

Why do you want to be an Artist for Vastrals?: I used to really love cs adoptables when I was younger (was staff for pixel squirrels wayy back in the day haha), and coming back to them I kind of fell in love again! I think it's really beautiful how people on the internet can come together to share their creativity and form such a lovely community, and I'd really like to contribute to that and help bring joy to other people. and above all!! these guys are super cute and I was veryy inspired by em :>

pastels: I knew I wanted to make something cutesy, and pink & teal are one of my favourite colour combos! I then threw in some whites and oranges to soften the colour scheme a bit

neon arcade: wanted to challenge myself by making a really unique & bold design without line edits! this fella is vaguely inspired by the 90s arcade aesthetic (purple for the actual games and teal,,, the carpet lol)

not exactly sure what these guys are...? I just wanted to play with pretty colours :D

wanted to work with more natural colours! I wanted each of them to look realistic-ish while still having their own distinct characters :>

frostnipped: this was largely inspired by this picture, I really wanted to capture the contrast between the cold snow and the vibrant flowers. and of course, lots and lots of floof!

whisper of affection: originally I just wanted to make it hold something in it's arms, and then the back leg had to be shifted back to make the pose look natural... and then the rest just came naturally! overall, I just wanted to capture that sort of corporeal, flowing feeling with lots of natural lines



virtual angle: this little menace,,, crawled into my head and refused to get out. admittedly this was a little out of my comfort zone but I love the webcore aesthetic that's been popular recently & I thought a >w< vastral would be really cute!!

Why do you want to be an Artist for Vastrals?: I've recently discovered UMAs and have absolutely obsessed with the creativity and love that goes into the creation of art to share with other people. After I got my first vastral I was filled with an intense joy and gratitude to the artists who made this possible! I would love to help give back to the community by spreading that joy to even more people! I'm also obsessed with making designs and drawing for the adorable species - I study ocean science and thus love the incorporation of a very ocean theme to the explore areas and the vastrals themselves! If chosen I would work hard to spread joy and make designs that would bring joy to each and every member of our community!

Some fish colours - Clownfish and Blue Tang. I made a few different colourings as well for variety! It was quite fun equating the fish features to those of the Vastral!

A dessert themed litter. I themed the first two after desserts with ice cream and the second two after soda floats! The first two have ice cream (vanilla and mint chip) with a cinnamon swirl flavour, wafer straws, and a cherry. The second two have a similar design but with a slightly different theme - soda floats (melon soda and strawberry soda, which are drinks famous in Japan)!

A water lily themed custom! Water lilies are said to symbolize purity and innocence, so I tried to capture that emotion with the sweet, serene expression of this vastral.
