Sola | Nas

As Willow was tacking up Sola for a trail ride, she noticed Nas looking at her longingly. She thought about it for a moment and then sighed, grabbing a lead so he could come along, too.

As they headed out of the pasture, Sola nickered gently at Nas who happily trotted alongside. Once the gate was latched behind her, Willow gave Sola a nudge forward and off they went into the forest. It was a path she'd taken many times before, but with the nice weather and two horses along for the ride she hoped maybe they'd find something fun today. And if not, maybe they could at least stop for a picnic in a meadow. She did bring snacks, after all.

``Kelsey lead Thomas into the forest on foot. He was too anxious to be on him, and she wanted to make sure he knew she was right there with him. "You think you're ready now?" she asked, they were in the middle of an open clearing just off of the trail. He nickered back to her in approval, feeling very confident in himself. She smiled and mounted herself up from the ground. She gave him a big scratch on his neck and put her feet into the stirrups. "Good boy Tom, you can do this". He bravely looked forward to the continuation of the trail and walked on.

The first 5 minutes were easy for him, no monsters tried to attack him and he was perfectly confident, but alert. As they continued, he heard a rustle deep in the woods. He ignored it at first, but it was persistent. He felt Kelsey looking in the direction of the noise, but he refused to acknowledge it. She asked him to stop, so he did, but his eyes were fixed to in front of him. The noise eventually came to an end, and they continued. Relieved it was over, he started to actually relax, he let out a big sigh, and he put his head down.

He zoned out for a little bit, and when he started paying attention again they were in a gigantic grass field full of fallen trees that resembled jumps. He perked his head up, excited with his new surroundings and bent his head to bite Kelseys boots, something he did when he was excited to jump. She agreed, and they jumped around for a little while. He was having a blast until the sound in the woods started up again right before a jump. He bailed out, almost knocking Kelsey off. Kelsey adjusted herself and she decided they were going to go investigate the sound. He walked in nervously, trusting Kelsey... ``

Autumn finishes tidying up the stalls for the day and looks at the sky. She checks her wristwatch and contemplates the time. "Only noon. Plenty of time for a ride before my next training session." She heads into the stables to put away her equipment then makes her way to the end stall where Seafoam, her uniquely teal mare, who you'd think was a red mare with dyed fur given her attitude.

"It's a lovely day for a trail ride girl," she says, rubbing Seafoam's nose and brandishing her forelock with a soft kiss.

Seafoam understands Autumn's gestures and whinnies in agreement, antsy to get out of her stall and stretch her legs for longer than a quick pasture turnout. The last week has been rain-filled; never letting up for even a sprint on the shortest of the five trails within the ranch land.

Autumn pats Seafoam's nose as she laughs, "Alright, girl, let me go get your saddle and we can go."

A few short minutes later, Autumn has Seafoam tacked up and ready to go. Seafoam is practically skipping, well as close to skipping as she can get for a horse, as Autumn leads her to the field. Carefully, Autumn pulls herself into the saddle and gets comfortable. She clicks her tongue telling Seafoam to move forward and choose a path for the ride, as expected, Seafoam begins to follow the trail that leads towards the river, her favorite spot...I wonder what we will find today? Autumn thinks to herself as she squeezes her calves urging Seafoam to pick up her pace.
