Currently now on the Quenta Silmarillion chapter, so far it’s been very fun and not as difficult as some people make it out to be, but I have only just started haha! I figure that it’s much easier to go about it if you read it like a history book, which so far, has made more sense to me. There’s a ton of characters and it’s not really a story like The Hobbit or TLOTR, as there are multiple stories and tales within it!

Anyways, my favorite part, so far, was Melkor causing trouble for the other Valar LOL I like to imagine that everyone was singing beautifully in a choir and Melkor was improvising some heavy metal XD

Yesss I love that part. I think it puts Melkor in a less evil light because all the dude wanted was to play his own music.

Personally I like how The Silmarillion shows that not all elves were always wise and superior to other beings as some of them present themselves in The Lord of the Rings.

I also love that about The Silmarillion! Some of them really did messed up stuff in the first age. I think the reason why they present themselves that way within the other stories is because it’s thousands of years later. Also, Galadriel and Elrond are two of the more important elves left in Middle-earth to remember the first and second age (Elrond being born at the end of the first age) and they both did not partake in the kinslaying. So, I feel like those two are the best to tell what happened to the others!

I’d also like to say that I have read a lot from the Tolkien gateway and that’s where most of my info comes from. Mostly because I’m not there yet in The Silmarillion, but I got extremely curious and spent like 3 days on the gateway researching and falling down a rabbit hole LOL but the hobbits used to be my favorite race and now I honestly feel like it’s the elves after doing all that reading! I still strongly identify with the hobbits though, both in height and love for food XD

I was moreso referring to Gildor, in Fellowship of the Ring, who says "The Elves have their own labours and their own sorrows, and they are little concerned with the ways of hobbits, or of any other creatures upon earth..."

I snagged that from Tolkien Gateway, which I also love! I use it all the time in my RPGs and fanfiction writing. Love how they revamped the site!

My race of choice are Dwarves (obviously). They have some of the qualities of Hobbits but I like that they are honourable and not afraid to back down from a fight. These aren't the only reasons but I won't go too much into it c:

Oh! Sorry about that haha, yea they really were in their own little world! Not really concerned with others until they really had to be.

I have also been using the site to aid in my fanfiction writing! Mostly of personal means, I don’t publish them anywhere. But it’s extremely helpful!!

I also reallyyy love the dwarves! I was raised on TLOTR but never got to see those in theaters, so getting to see The Hobbit movies was sooo amazing to younger me. I then became so enthralled with the dwarves and their way of life and also fell down a rabbit hole then LOL

In all though, I love all the peoples of middle-earth! Professor Tolkien was a wonderful and outstanding writer, I still am so shocked at how alive his world feels. So detailed and expanded upon, it’s hard to wrap your head around sometimes haha!
