Phoenix has his badge back, but really no confidence to do anything except sit around his office filing papers and such. Trucy is 14 or 15. Miles checks on him nearly everyday to encourage him and hopes to hear that Phoenix got a case. He's over at Phoenix's constantly and even has a key and they hang out in the evenings.

It’s nearly winter break, and Miles gets a call from Franziska. She has rented a cabin up in the mountains for the holidays for her and Maya (they’re dating). Since she knows how Edgeworth gets around Christmas she invites him up to the cabin for the holidays. skiing/snowboarding and other such activities will happen. He doesn't want to be the third wheel, so Franziska agrees to let him have a plus one. So he invites Phoenix and Trucy. They drive up there and Franziska and Maya had betted on an 80% chance he was bringing Phoenix, and now Maya's getting Franziska in on a scheme to finally get them together. A running joke is Trucy had thought they were dating this whole time and in her head thought of them both as her dad's so she's surprised when she hears Maya and Franziska talking about that.

Also, Miles has Pess as well as a male puppy. Pess’ adopted pup or actual pup.

He loves the two so much. Pess is a beautiful borzoi.

Miles had had a long day at work. He sighed and shook his head, adjusting his glasses then heading up to Phoenix’s office. He knew the man was going to be there…Phoenix had gotten his badge back, but seemed to have not regained his confidence. He just sat around all day. At least he actually still did stuff, like filing papers or doing stuff on his computer. It wasn’t the same, though, and Miles worried about him. He’d gone and picked up the two dogs, as Phoenix never seemed to mind the two dogs being around.

For an Akita mix, Riyu was actually super quiet, and even Pess was. Despite being a Borzoi, which was a type of hound, she actually didn’t make much noise. The cream and white female walked on his left side. The white and black pup was on the right side. His blue and brown eyes were so beautiful. Miles shook that thought away after a moment…but smiled nevertheless. He walked to the office, and opened the door. “I’m here…Phoenix,” he called to the other man, and went to sit in a chair.

(I hope it’s okay I had him bring the dogs…also I can’t find an Akita Borzoi mix. So I’ll either have to figure out on my own what that would look like, or I could just have Riyu be a German Shepherd Akita since there’s actual pictures of those on Google.)

Phoenix currently was at his desk, Apollo stood leaning against the desk. They both were looking at some printed papers, and Phoenix explained some things to the boy that he had figured out. Trucy was on the couch in front of the TV, Maya's old favorite spot. There was an abandoned board game set up for 3 people that had been set up on the table by the couch. And of course lots of take out containers. There was a huge difference in the way Phoenix and Miles offices looked. But Phoenix's was more like a second home. Trucy had even preformed magic shows right here in the office. Phoenix looked up and gave Miles one of his sunshine-y smiled. "Hey!" He greeted.

"What's up, come to hound me about taking a case? Pun intended." He smirked. "I actually did stuff today." Essentially he was a glorified research assistant, almost like stuff he used to do when he first started working for Mia. But he liked to be helpful to Apollo. Apollo mumbled something lowly to Phoenix and replied with, "Of course, go home if you're ready, we all should." Looking all fumble and sweaty Apollo gathered papers and such into his briefcase and gave Edgeworth a curt and polite nod before slipping out of the office. "I have no idea why he gets so freaked out around you." Phoenix said with a chuckle to Miles.

"Babies!" Trucy chirped and rushed over to greet the dogs, plopping down on the floor by Miles' chair to vigorously scratch her favorite doggies' ears. They always expected lots of attention from her. She looked up at Miles with puppy dog eyes, that even as a teenager she could do very well. "Please save us, Daddy's going to try to cook!"

Phoenix crossed his arms. "Hey, I heard that! I know I have a bad track record in the kitchen but it's a very easy recipe! We don't need to always have take out."

Miles saw the spiky haired dark haired man sitting at the desk, Apollo there as well. They were looking at papers, so that was good, right? Phoenix seemed to be explaining something to the boy. Miles turned his attention to the girl on the couch next. He remembered how Maya used to like to sit there. He saw the board game that no one had played with in a while. He also saw the takeout containers…and sighed as he shook his head. He turned his attention back to the man. Phoenix greeted him with that bright smile of his. Miles let out a small sigh of relief, because maybe Phoenix was starting to come out of his funk. He smiled back at the man, and nodded. He said “Hey,” then glanced to Apollo again and nodded at the boy as well.

He shook his head at Phoenix, saying “No, actually. I just thought I could drop by to hang out again,” he finished. He then smiled and said “I see that. You’re technically still doing stuff, I see the papers there and heard you talking to Apollo.” He then glanced to the boy, as the boy mumbled to Phoenix. He wondered if Apollo was unsure of him, or even afraid of him…Shaking his head, he watched the boy hurry out. He said “It’s fine…he should be able to get used to me in time; hopefully.”

The dogs yipped and wagged their tails as the girl then gave them attention. Miles smiled as he watched her and the dogs. He then tilted his head, as she spoke to him. He laughed a bit, then shook his head a couple times as he realized she’d called Phoenix daddy. Well, he had taken the girl in. Miles supposed it made sense.

Miles said “Don’t be mad at her. Also, I could help you with the cooking, or just…do all the cooking, but you could still help.” He hoped that was an okay compromise. Maybe Phoenix would be happy if Miles allowed him to help measure the ingredients and stuff.

"I mean it's not my case, but still..." Phoenix shrugged, trailing off a bit. "I just don't want to rush into anything and screw up, then y'know, ruin some innocent person's life." It wasn't super simple in that regard. But Phoenix tried to brush off his doubts and insecurities, and focus on the present. Which was that Miles Edgeworth was simply here to see him. And 'hang out'. It made his heart flutter.

"Just to see me, huh?" His voice sounded a little bit teasing but also genuinely happy. He nodded in agreement. Apollo was always anxious about something, and always felt weird around authorities. "He probably only sees the mighty Chief Prosecutor, not the Steel Samurai nerd and dog nerd I know." He chuckled, smile wrinkles creasing around his eyes.

As Phoenix tidied up files and papers, he raised an eyebrow at Miles. "Surely you have something better to do than cook with me..." That sounded pretty nice honestly, cooking alongside Miles, actually pretty romantic and domestic. Until Phoenix burned something like, which was very likely; that wouldn't be romantic.

Miles glanced to the dark haired man once more, and nodded at him. He said “You don’t have to rush, if you’re worried about it. You can just ease back into it as you wish. Frankly, I don’t think you could ruin any person’s life, though.” He remembered all their times in the courtroom. Phoenix had always found the right person, he’d always found the bad person. Miles was always so stunned whenever the other man could do that. He’d been put off way back when and even annoyed, but now…now he couldn’t be.

Miles felt a blush coming on, so he looked down for a moment, hearing the tease but also some happiness. He waited for it to pass. The blush soon died before it could even begin. He smiled and lifted his head again, adjusting his glasses a bit. He looked at Phoenix, and nodded. “Well, I’m glad someone thinks I’m mighty and good at my job.”

Although he didn’t mind being seen as a samurai too. He wasn’t so sure he liked being called a dog nerd…but dog lover would be fine. He surely loved the Borzoi, as well as the pup. The pup was definitely going to be bigger than his mom one day, but smaller than the Akita that was his father.

Miles shook his head as he looked at the other man again. “I told you I’m here to hang out, so what else am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to just sit and watch the tv?” he asked. It was an honest question, because he had come to hang out with the other. He didn’t want to sit down and just watch tv. Plus, he knew how Phoenix could burn things…so he was a little worried for the food. He shook his head, and tried to focus. He wanted to make food with Phoenix, he wanted to do something nice with the other man.

"There's nothing wrong with that, I like just watching tv with you, its relaxing!" He argued. Phoenix chuckled and held up his hands in defense. "Okay, okay, cooking it is then." He smiled. "I assume that means you'll be giving us a ride to my place then?" He asked. It was so convenient being friends with someone with a car. He swung the keys to the office around his finger, ready to lock up for the day. "Oh Truce. Don't forget your backpack. There's no way you're getting out of that book report."

Phoenix knew Trucy had a habit of conveniently forgetting things. "Ugh, Dad!" She whined, grabbing her backpack with a huff.

Miles let out a soft, small laugh, but then nodded at the spiky haired man. He said “That’s true, it is indeed relaxing.” He shook his head again, then smiled as he looked at Trucy a moment. Before he looked back to his crush and said “Yes, cooking it is.” He then nodded when the other asked if he’d be giving them a ride. He said “I did drive here, so I can drive us all to your place.” He looked to Trucy again, as Phoenix spoke to her. She whined a bit, and Miles chuckled a bit as he listened to her do so.

“I could help with the book report if you want, Trucy. After we finish dinner of course,” he then quickly added at the end. He began to head out of the office then. The dogs nearly tripped him as they suddenly rushed by, excited to get back to the car.

Phoenix smiled back at him and once everyone was out locked up the office. He walked down the several flights of stairs, never taking the elevator of course when Miles was around. Trucy grinned at him. "That'd be cool, thanks! I have to actually finish reading the boring book first." She sighed.

When they got down to the parking lot, Phoenix unlocked his bike from the rack, lugging it with a grunt into the back trunk of Miles' bright red sports car. "You know it feels like just yesterday there was a dead body in the back of your trunk." Phoenix snorted. "Wow, that sounds like one crazy story!" Trucy chirped. She loved hearing all her dad's old stories.
