So this symbolic name could be one, the other, or a combination of both?

Also, when looking at Desmond’s stamp, I noticed Aiden’s stamp in the corner
Aiden’s marking really reminds me a lot of this pup’s markings
So I really do think this is Desmond’s pup.
Of course, with this new hint, it makes me wonder if, like a Chess Rook, this pup will be like a second Rook, maybe to Aiden, since rooks come in pairs and can work together to corner the king?
