No, you do not have to use every color.

I read through all comments before posting so I just want to ask rq- May we use bases as our examples? I know it said lineart but some bases are different then just straight up line art. Some of them have the color filled in or have little bits and bobs on it- That sort of thing. I definitly want to apply but I just wanted to check first before I applied ^^

Aw whoops, I used some slight value changes for a couple of the colors in my palette on two of the designs I submitted on the template. My understanding of using palettes has always been allowing some flex with values, and I thought I saw that reflected in some staff pets but that might have been more color mixing than value changes now that I look again.
Should I redo that template/submission or leave as is? Sorry, I probably shoulda asked first before playing with the values somewhat. (The left and middle ones I submitted had the value adjustments; the one on the right I remember didn't have any).

This would disqualify your entry so it would be a good idea to redo them!

There is no end date. Simon will post shortly before the applications close.

Ello! I have a couple questions for the artist positions.
1) Based on previous responses it seems like artists usually have freedom of design for the regular monthly pets- are there any cases (besides annual staff litters) where there are restrictions on this/the monthly pets' design process would be more like the application templates? Does the freedom of design also usually extend to lineart & shading changes or is that kinda for special occasions?
2) Clarifying applying specifically to be a guest artist- after the trial period, would the art team sometimes ask a guest artist to make a litter and have a specific timeframe in mind for when they'd want it released by, or is it kinda more casual, in the direction of the guest artist popping in every so often with "hey I made this set of ponies, you can release them whenever" ?
3) Generally, how many official artists vs. guest artists are you currently looking for?

i cant apply now as i’m a newer account but also i am curious, do you have layout/template access for procreate users?
id genuinely love to make occasional art for chicken smoothie however i’ve worked solely on procreate for the past several years.
if you don’t have layout/template access for procreate, is that something y’all are interesting in doing? even if i wasn’t to become an artist i’d love to offer any help i can give to help staff figure out how to do that if it helps newer potential artists.
thank you, good luck to artists as well! 🖤

Hello! Welcome to CS.
The file format for the template and any of the CS linearts is .psd. Procreate is able to open .psd files, so you should be able to use Procreate with no problem if you end up wanting to apply in the future.
