(Thats okay! I often post at ungodly hours of the night xD)

With her father leading the way up to the structure, walking at a regal yet brisk pace, Kal had barely any time to study the building. What she did see was fascinating, however. Her kingdom was nearer to the mountains that ran for miles and was their northern border, and a lot of the buildings were made of sturdy stone from the quarries the miners dug out. This building was made from wood and what looked like hardened clay. With the sun beaming down from overhead, the building almost seemed to glow.
As they entered the building, Kal heard a derisive snort from behind her and turned just in time to see Kai's expression quickly shift from unimpressed to pleasantly amused once more. She raised an eyebrow but Kai just gave her a faint smile.

Kai eyed the portraits on the walls as they strode down the hallway, feeling both bemused and almost a little offended. What human in their right mind would get with an elf?
Feeling a little put off by this idea, they nevertheless kept a smile on their face. They were here for a peace talk (and their sister's betrothal), and as much as Kai itched to get back home, they knew making peace was important. Continuing m the way they were could very well lead to a war, and that would be bad.
The king finally stopped outside a door, turning to his children.
"You both know how important this is," he said. His gaze drifted to Kal. "Kallandra, dear, please don't make a scene."
Kai glimpsed a look of confusion on Kal's face, and once more felt a stab of pity for her, for the news that would soon come. Shaking their head, they followed behind their father as he pushed open the door and went inside.

[XD I used to also, until I got my dad’s iPad. This thing seems to lose power way too quick…and when I try and charge it in the socket next to my bed it won’t charge for some reason, so I have to charge it on my desk, so…I can’t really post when I’m up in bed anymore.]

The blonde elf hummed quietly as she followed her parents. Their own buildings were made of wood, and some from stone. This one really wasn’t much different to some they had. They even used clay and brick and such as that in buildings. They had animals, after all. Humans weren’t the only ones that could have things such as cows and horses. She smiled fondly as she thought of the horses outside. They were a pair of black and white horses, the son and daughter of a Quarter horse and a Paint. They probably had Appaloosa and Morgan or Thoroughbred too. They were gorgeous animals either way. Their names were Ebony and Ivory; Ebony was more black, Ivory more white. Shaking her head, she heard the humans and looked up…

The young man hummed quietly as he hurried to where his family was. He wondered if these humans were all the same. They must be…they were the royal family. They were probably the ones told the most to think of elves as beneath them… Shaking his head, he thought that was too bad. The one elf had been quite attractive, but…if they were a jerk, he’d have nothing to do with them. Shaking his head, he looked around the room. It was spacious enough, with tables placed into a square shape. Four rectangular tables put together to form a rectangle or square. He thought it was more square shaped. Shaking the thought away, he looked up. He watched the human king come in first, followed by what must be his two children, the girl and the attractive one he’d seen outside.

(Lol, it’s fine)

(Sorry for the delay! Life got hectic all of a sudden and I had some things to take care of)

Kal straightened her shoulders and put on a pleasant smile, though her eyes curiously wandered around the room as they entered it. It was bigger than she had expected, but her gaze was quickly drawn away from the room itself and fell on its inhabitants.
The elves were also different than she had imagined. She actually didn't know what she had expected. Perhaps from the reports and stories of the war she had heard, she might have expected more savage looking creatures, or fiercesome warriors wielding battleaxes and angry looks. But the elves were remarkably... normal. They looked like any person she might see wandering the markets or streets of the town, albeit with a few differing features.
There were four of them, but her attention fell on the younger ones, a boy and a girl that must be the prince and princess. She wondered if they had wanted to come, or if they had been dragged here like she was. Perhaps under different circumstances they could become friends. Kal certainly wouldn't mind talking to them, and though she did wish she was back home, her interest was now piqued.

Kai sighed as they closed the door behind them, and followed the king to one of the tables. They stopped and gazed around the room, fascinated by the architecture and interior design. It was only a building, but it was very different from the buildings they were used to. Warm sun streamed through some of the windows near the ceiling, falling in shafts on the floor below. After a moment Kai's eyes drew away from the room and rested on the elves. They studied each of them in turn, their expression remaining neutral, although if one looked closely they might detect a hint of something like haughtiness. They were the first to sit down and Kal quickly followed, placing herself next to them. She smiled at them and Kai smiled back, this smile genuine. Their gaze moved to their father as he sat down next to them, giving a warning look to Kai. They knew what that meant. Holding back another sigh, Kai turned to face forward, eyes once more resting on the elves.

The blonde elf glanced to her father, whom was named Sirris. She shook her head a couple times, then looked to her mother. She watched the woman sit beside the king, prim and proper. Sunnie always tried to be prim and proper as well. Now, she shook her head and sighed, rolling her eyes. Not at all ladylike there for a moment, then she went back to being proper. She hummed quietly a moment, then stopped that sound. She looked to the humans, and noticed the look in the eyes of one…She narrowed her eyes at them, then looked to the others. The king and what she assumed was a princess. She hadn’t been told which one she was to marry…The princess or her sibling, Sunnie still didn’t know which one. She noticed how the girl looked at them. She offered a smile towards the other girl.

The young man hummed quietly as he looked around. This room also had pictures, probably of the people that had started the village. Well…the people that had run the village. The village had already been here, people were just forced to go into this village. Now there were half breed kids here that hadn’t been ostracized. Though if they went to either kingdom they would be…They didn’t have to know that pain though. Since they’d been born to the village, instead of ostracized to it. He sat down then, as his family already was. He glanced to the humans then, finally actually studying them. The girl and her sibling looked so different from each other…He shook his head over this fact, and looked to the human king. He listened as his father spoke, to greet the other king. Meanwhile, his mother sat silent beside her husband. Ever the good wife and queen, she let him doing the talking, to start anyway. That’s just always how Sianna had worked.

(whoops lol. Didn't mean to do that xD Also I love the names btw)

Kal quickly lost interest beyond the greetings. She wasn't required to say anything (she hoped, anyway), so she didn't really need to pay attention, did she? Kai would let her know when to respond to something, if she needed to. She quietly drummed her fingers on her knee, knowing if she didn't do something with her hands she might fall asleep. Her gaze drifted back to the elves, curiously noting how similar the siblings looked. She wondered how well they got along. Was the princess like her, and depended on her brother to keep her updated on the important things? Or was she more responsible than that? Probably. Kal knew she was a little... lazy wasn't the right word, but she wasn't exactly as dutiful as she should be. At least on matters of the kingdom or the elves, or politics of running the kingdom someday. She could hear her father's voice echoing in her mind. One day Kai might not be here to save your skin, and you have to be ready to lead the kingdom properly when I'm gone. She winced slightly at the memory. She had gotten into some sort of trouble down by the village, and if Kai hadn't smoothed over the situation with their diplomatic skills, she might have gotten off worse. She knew she needed to shape up, but she usually forgot to in the moment of her troublemaking.
Kal heard her father mention her name and she glanced up, curious.

Kai knew immediately when their sister stopped listening. Her posture sank an inch, and her fingers were absently drumming out a pattern on her knee. They almost rolled their eyes but decided against it, instead resigning themself to making sure to listen in case they needed to get her attention for something.
"I am glad we could meet here, Sirris," their father was saying. Kai noticed how he didn't use a title and instead addressed the elf king by his name only. They frowned slightly at that. He did want to make peace didn't he? Deciding to put the thought out of their mind, Kai refocused on what King Jurdan was saying.
"I do wish to make amends between our species," he was saying. Kai narrowed their eyes at his silky tone. "It deals me great pain to see all the fighting that is happening around us. Which is why the idea of betrothal between Kallandra and your daughter is a perfect one to bring our two peoples together."
He was going to cut right to the chase, then. Kai saw Kal's head turn out of the corner of their eye and put a hand over hers, warning her to be silent. The king was known for being direct, but Kai couldn't help think that the way he was going about things could only end in disaster.

The blonde elf hummed quietly a bit, a habit both she and her brother had. She stared at the table, which seemed to be redwood or mahogany. She wasn’t actually sure which it was. All she knew was both trees had reddish or reddish brown bark. She shoved the thought from her head. She didn’t actually much care what kind of wood it was, she was just trying to guess. She lost interest in doing that pretty quick, however. Shaking her head, she raised her gaze back up to the others at the table. Seeming to study the two human siblings. She wondered if they were as close as she and Sandy were. If they were close but also liked to do their own thing at times. Or if they weren’t quite so close, but still cared for each other. She shook her head a couple times. Then noticed the other girl didn’t actually seem all that interested in the meeting…She knew it was a peace talk, right? Plus they’d been betrothed, she was figuring out by now that it was probably the girl she was betrothed to.

The young man watched the two human heirs a moment. Well, the heiress and her sibling, he wouldn’t call them an heir. He’d heard they weren’t male or female but nonbinary. Though this could mean any number of possible pronouns to be used. Shaking his head, he glanced to his father and mother. He saw his father narrow his eyes a bit…and his hands also clenched a bit. However, Sianna quickly placed her hands over his. The elf king seemed to soften and calm a bit, almost immediately. Sirris said “Yes, of course. We should strive for peace amongst our two species, and make amends with one another.” Sandy shook his head a bit at both their words…Sirris then nodded and said “I believe they will do great together as wives, and unite our kingdoms.” He gave a smile at the other man. Sandy knew his father was hiding irritation behind that smile…He shook his head once more at the two kings. Then found his gaze wandering back to the two human siblings.

Kal furrowed her brow. What had he just said? She turned her head sharply to her father, but he avoided her eyes. She was about to speak up when Kai placed their hand over hers and she turned to them with a question in her eyes. They shook their head subtly, a sign for her to not say anything. She tried to convey back the question of what was happening because she must have misheard what the elven king had said.
"Did he just say wives?" she hissed under her breath to Kai. Their nostrils flared in the way they usually did when they were irritated, and their grip on her hand tightened. "Don't cause a scene," they hissed back in an equal undertone, echoing what their father had said earlier. Kal yanked her hand out of theirs and turned to face the rest of the people at the table.
"Pardon me," she said in a polite tone, though it had an edge to it. Their father sucked in a breath but Kal barreled on before he could stop her. "What's all this about a betrothal? You're not saying her and I-" here she waved a hand at the elf princess, "are going to get married?"

Kai let out a breath and closed their eyes for a brief moment, then exchanged glances with their father. His dark eyes were stormy, and Kai knew they had to do something.
"Kal, please," he whispered, tugging her hand again. She had stood up from her seat and they tried in vain to pull her back down. She shook her head at them and turned her gaze to the king.
"Dad, what's going on? You didn't say anything about this." Kai could hear a clear note of annoyance in her voice now. King Jurdan put a firm hand on her shoulder and pushed her back down. "Kallandra, dear, try to understand." And shut up, is what his eyes were also conveying. Kai watched, holding their breath as Kal didn't say anything for a few moments before she got up once more, pushed back her chair, and abruptly left the room. Kai heard a groan come from their father.
"Forgive my daughter, I didn't manage to find time to tell her about the news before we came." Kai couldn't resist rolling their eyes this time, and they made sure everyone could see it. Didn't tell her on purpose, more like it. They also stood from their seat, offered a small bow and said, "If you'll pardon me, I'll go get her."
Then they too, exited the room, closing the door behind them with a soft click.

The blonde elf glanced to her mother a moment. The woman still had her hands over Sirris’, so Sunnie was glad for that. She looked over in time to see the princess looking at the human king. He was avoiding the look, and the sibling out their hand on the princess’. She tilted her head as she heard the other woman hiss. Of course, she couldn’t hear the words, as the other was whispering them. She sighed and shook her head a couple times. She also couldn’t actually tell Kai’s grip had tightened. She nearly jumped when the other turned back to them. She kept her eyes on her, watching the other lady. She said “We are…though that’s all I knew. They didn’t even tell me which one of you I was to marry…” she trailed off. She trailed off because the other had already left the room. She felt a bit annoyed herself…and a little upset too. Did the princess see them as lower creatures, or was it because she was a girl? Or was there yet some other reason the other didn’t seem to want to be betrothed to her?

Sandy- m- 24- elf- rabbit shift ability- pan- crush is Kai- Tags: Sunnie, Kal and Kai

The young man made a small sound as he watched it all unfold. He felt a bit annoyed as the girl seemed to be unbelieving…He couldn’t tell if she was looking down on them. Perhaps it was just that she didn’t want to be married to another woman. It could even be both of those things. She clearly hadn’t been told of the betrothal either…so he supposed there was anger over that. He shook his head a couple times. Sensing the irritation from his sister, he moved his hand. He gently bumped his hand against hers. She let out an exhalation of air from beside him, and he felt his lips twitch a bit. He finally turned his head to look at her. Her face of irritation was slowly turning back to one of neutrality. Meanwhile, Sirris and Sianna nodded at Jurden. The woman remained silent, while her husband said “I can understand rebellious kids.” Though he knew it wasn’t just that. The human princess was clearly angry at her father for having not told her, and maybe the king had actually done so on purpose.

Re: Human and elf romance 1x1 with Flamestriker6

Kal walked briskly through the hallways back toward the front door, wanting to get out of this place as soon as possible. She felt mixed emotions. Anger, confusion, a sense of betrayal, guilt... she had indeed caused a scene, and as usual, she hadn't thought before she acted, and now they all probably thought her a spoiled brat. But how was she supposed to react, with news sprung on her like that? Still, her father's words rang through her mind, and she let a growl escape as she tried to shake them off.
It wasn't that she had a problem with the idea itself. If she thought about it from a peacemaking point of view, it probably would bring the two species closer or at the very least stop all the fighting. But why hadn't anyone asked her what she wanted? What if she didn't want to be married?
As she emerged outside, a breeze hit her face and she let out a breath. Perhaps she could talk with her father and they could work something else out. Although... he was pretty stubborn when he wanted to be.
"Kal!" Kai's voice broke through her thoughts and she turned to see them pushing through the entrance. Her eyes narrowed.
"Did Father send you to get me?" she asked, irritated. "Because if so-"
Kai interrupted her. "No, I came to find you myself." They sighed wearily and walked over to their carriage still waiting, motioning for Kal to join them.
"Did you know?" Kal asked as they climbed in. She settled down near the back of the carriage and Kai sat down next to her, resting their head on her shoulder. After a moment of silence, Kai responded with, "Yes, I did. I would have told you but dad said not to."
Kal stared at her hands. "Why does he tell you everything and leaves me out? I mean, if I'm the one being betrothed, shouldn't I know beforehand?"
Kai's eyes darkened. "He doesn't tell me everything," they muttered, so low Kal almost couldn't hear. In a louder voice, they added, "He was afraid you'd refuse to come if you knew."
Kal opened her mouth to protest but closed it after realizing she probably would have. She would have hid, so they couldn't find her, or something. Still, it made her wonder what else he was keeping from her. Normally she wouldn't care. But now, especially seeing as she would suddenly have to learn to be responsible, she felt completely put off.

Kai listened to their sister take breaths in and out. They were silent, allowing her a few moments to gather her thoughts. After a minute or two, they straightened up and leaned against the seat, turning their eyes to her.
"Do you want to go back?" they asked. Kal kept her gaze on her hands, not answering. Kai put a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Kal," they said.
Kal shook her head and sighed, moving her gaze to study Kai's face. "Fine," she murmured. "Fine. I'll go along with this. I already knew I wouldn't be able to live my own life forever."
She stood up and moved past them to exit the carriage. Kai watched her go with a resigned expression. She was going to accept it, just like that? Kai would have thought she would resist more. They were already prepared to offer some counter ideas in case Jurdan agreed to call it off.
Pushing their hair our of their face, they got up and followed their sister out of the carriage and back into the building. Kal walked stiffly, and when Kai glanced at her face, they saw a definite forced smile. As they reached the door to the meeting room, Kal paused, seeming suddenly unsure. In an impulse, Kai wrapped their arms around her in a hug, surprising her and themself. It was rare for them to give hugs, and in fact the last one Kal had received from them was nearly nine years ago. She leaned into their embrace for a moment before Kai let go and offered a dim smile, then pushed open the door once more.

(sorry that ran a bit long xD)
