How does the adopt page work?

New player here, hello!

I didn't see this asked in the FAQ but. I noticed there's only 1-2 pets listed per species in the adopt page: https://www.chickensmoothie.com/adoptables/

Are these the only ones available for adoption? Is it only changed monthly (the adopt page says new pets are releaaed monthly), or do they "restock" or cycle out, for example, every hour? Is this the main way of getting pets, or are players encouraged to trade pets instead?

hello! If you click the buttons to adopt you’ll see you can get multiple from the same litter; sometimes even over 15! This is because there’s always different outcomes you’ll get based on random chance and they want to give us the most chance to get at least a few different ones for each breed :) it does cycle out every month on the 1st, save for special event pets which are generally holiday based or for stuff like ‘national pizza day’, so there will be new designs every month, yes! And if there is a special event pet or holiday set or even when it’s just a new month, there’ll be a big ‘new’ text pop out over the adopt button.

I believe this is the main way to get pets, it’s certainly the easiest, and opens up a lot of trade opportunities bc even pets just found in the adoption center can be Largely desired (especially if you get a lion in your cat adopts, or zebra in your horse adopts), but it’s really up to you! Trading is definitely always encouraged, there’s even special made forum hubs with info for swapping monthly outcomes or looking for wishlist pets, as well as ones to help determine if a trade is trustworthy or scammy. Adding on, here are some other ways to get pets! They really aren't in any order, just the order I remembered them ^^

Art/Character/Coding Shop - There are a ton of people on CS who pay either C$ or CS pets for art of their characters, creation of custom characters (either through your own art or bases) or coding (usually for trading rules or signatures). If you find yourself able to do either of those things, that could be a quick way to get some high quality pets.

Pound / Lost & Found - The Pound, as you might know, rereleases pets of all kinds of rarity a couple of times a day. Some can even be VR or OMGSR! These pets go very quickly, so you have to be at the opening the second it opens or you might miss out! The Lost & Found is similar, but for items! Some items are very valuable and worth VRs and OMGSRs in pets.

Events - Especially the Easter, Summer and Halloween events, you will get higher value pets. Most of the token trade-in pets for those three events turn into rares. Most of the smaller event pets turn into uncommons typically.

Trading - This one is obvious, but using the pets you have and trading up for the ones you want is a good way to get more pets!

Monthly Adoptions - Adopt all of the pets every month, no matter what. These won't turn rare typically but a lot of the litters will have uncommons in them! They make for good fodder in the long run.

December 18th - If I were to suggest anything in this thread, it would be december 18th. I'm not exactly sure what happens or what it looks like, as I haven't experienced it yet, but from what I hear, you get three rare, VR, or OMGSR pets on December 18th. Be careful that you adopt them before CS rollover, or they'll be gone.

If anyone has any other suggestions I missed, feel free to add on!

December 18th is a big one to look out for yeah! December 18th is the day that during the Christmas advent calendar, they rerelease super old pets as well as new special release ones (which you can find in the archive under their own section in each year, so it’ll generally go ‘new years - store pets - special release’ or something like that? It’s definitely one of the first listed lol). I can never remember how many you get, but they are all guaranteed to be rare or above. But the Christmas advent calendar as its name suggests is incredibly time based and changes daily starting December 1st, with the new day starting in the time zone CS is hosted in (rollover being when the day starts anew; this is for any context), which you can see at the bottom of every page or find at this link!
