Snakeclaw nodded and stood. She padded back to the nursery slipping in and curling around the kits. She nuzzled the kits but paused with swankit didn't respond. "Swankit" She mewed. "Swankit?" She said again this time for frantic "Swankit!" she said in the kits ear but only her nose touched cold fur. the kit had passed on. "Swankit" She said in sorrow feeling no heart beat, No breathing, no warmth in the kits fur.

Spottedheart stayed by Flyleaf's side, tears soaking the dead cat's fur.

Otterkit looked over at Snakeclaw then at Swankit. "Daddy, what's wrong with Swankit?" she asked Eagleshadow.

Fernkit

Fernkit fell asleep again, her breathing weird and unsteady.

Eagleshadow turned around. "Huh? Oh." His words were cut off with Adderstar's mournful caterwauling. "Swankit will be asleep... For a very long time." He explained softly.

Tinykit and Briarkit were too tired. They didn't wake yet. Antkit watched with a sad feeling inside of his chest.

Snakeclaw rasped her tongue over her daughters ears one more time and let a tear fall from her eyes. She looked at fernkit and let a small yet faint growl escape within her voice "Shes dead! fernkit" She said her fur fluffing up in sadness. "why did they have to take her " She murmured hiding her face and kits within her tail fur

Otterkit's eyes widened and she cowered to the ground, staring up at Snakeclaw.

Eagleshadow's eyes narrowed. He stepped infront of his daughters protectively. "Just because Swankit is gone doesn't mean that you have to growl at my daughter! We're all going through pain, not just you." The warrior said calmly. His eyes were filling up with tears.

Adderstar sighed. "If this keeps happening while I am leader, then it must be a sign from StarClan that I am not meant to be here any longer." He whispered.
