i genuinely don't think the train is moving. judging by all the context stuff i think the blown away is referring to the sandstorm.

That's fair. I'm just assuming the train is going between the Outskirts and whatnot.
Though it prob does have more to do with the storm

I like it because it's a rat and the chunky guy is soo cool! But it also frightens me because it looks...swollen. And after having a pet rat that died horribly from tumors, that's what they remind me of. So I dress the little baby up and everything works out ok.
The hat especially helps because it still looks like it has ears, based on the little green polyps. (For lack of a better word.)

It’s so funny (but also sad for your rat) that you used the word swollen because cacti, like the prickly pear, swell up with the water they collect to use during long seasons of drought and no rain. So… yeah it’s swollen. i’m so sorry

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a tornado. Geographically, I would be really impressed if it was a haboob (a really large dust storm), since those are far more common in the American Southwest. It’s actually monsoon season where I’m at, and dust storms have been blowing through all week because of the outflowing of thunderstorm winds. So I’m just going to have a theory that it’ll be a huge dust storm, the town will become harder to see due to the dust, and then a giant monsoon (gigantic seasonal rain) will come down and that will be toward the end of the event. We’ll see lots of colorful flowers and beautiful things pop up from the desert (and maybe some more floral and really colorful pets as well).

I think there is an outside force that's been affecting the town since the beginning! It's what broke the train kicking off everything. I'm also thinking it caused Earp's and the search party's disappearance and the dust storm! I think the Rough Rider's are at least aware of it. They showed after weird things began to occur and we know the train is theirs. They'd had to come for some reason!
I'm not sure of Earp's connection. He didn't seem too inclined to actually doing his job. I'm wondering if he knew this outside force from the past...
My best guess at the moment, is that for some reason, a desert spirit has descended upon the town!

With the cows today I think I'm finally going to relent on trying to get a full set this event haha. I missed the first two days and keep missing the high demand free pets and I just don't have the time or energy to stress about it. Still makes the completionist part of me sad but I'll get over it. I did manage the root beer dog though so I'm happy about that.

Editing to add literally just got the other root beer pet haha. Thankfully I have that luck going for me but that day one rat... haunts me...

yay we got tumbleweeds!

I love all the cactus themed pets! I somehow managed to get all 5 snakes without having to swap for them. that doesn’t happen often, usually I get dupes.

I’ve collected 190 items… very close to hitting the banner limit. I can’t even remember the last time this happened during a summer event! probably the lost city all the way back in 2017.

update: just learned there’s a love letter you can only get through banners. please raise the banner limit ahhhHH now I’m scared I won’t get it :/
