2024 Summer Event: Casual Chat

Oml I forgot about banner pets- do they use them in summer events I can’t remember, for some reason I can only remember Halloween having banner pets (and Easter having animal eggs ofc)

Yeah, "banner" pets during the summer event typically comes from the secondary token place. We haven't unlocked that place yet but I'm sure there will be pets from it once we do ^.^

I can’t lie I can tell I played the summer event last year bc I adopted pets from it but I CANNOT remember it for the life of me…. I have a feeling it has to do with the fact I was a college student lol. The last event I actually fully remember is the carnival event from 2020, everything after is a blur haha, I’m pretty sure that one you got a bear item from the banner and traded it for a kitten! I think something like that this event would be cool as well!

i really dislike wild west as a theme (like in books, movies and anything in general), but i am hoping for some cute adopts. day one looks sweet so far.

Just rambling about the theming, don't mind me...

When I first saw the theme, I'll be honest and say the only things that came to mind were deserts and the animals/flora that inhabit them. I'm not from the USA, so that could be a factor in this. Perhaps something like "desert/cowboy town" over "wild west" may have been a better title for the event? (Or something far more creative than anything my peabrain can come up with...) I don't exactly expect a child-friendly pet adoption site to want to acknowledge the negative aspects of that part of history, nor do I see why it should either. I'm already guessing that any child-friendly attempt at covering anything to do with it would've been immediately met with backlash and a boatload of "this is so insensitive/lazy/poorly written/etc." comments too. I mean, this could be some nice western town where natives and cowboys live in harmony for all we know. It's a fictional location filled with cartoon animals on an adoptable website, does it really need to follow reality 1:1?

Don't have much of an opinion on the US-centric theme(s) since so much stuff is irritatingly US-centric in the first place, so it's become something I've just expected out of every game/site I play. Can make it a bit hard to fully immerse yourself at times, but oh well. I think you may be able to tell that I care more about the desert aspect of the theme rather than the wild west itself.

I personally don't mind the US-centric theme. It's the first time ever the summer event is proper US-centric (the camping event last year is the only other US adjacent theme we've had and that was only barely US themed with those cryptids) and why shouldn't we be able to get a US themed event every once in a while? We had an Egypt themed event too after all and I wouldn't mind a Europe, East Asia or Australia theme one day either or somewhere else entirely.

You're a big, popular country and a lot of people want to go there. And the Wild West is just an easy US theme to go with for an event like this.


But anyway, finally home to do some proper banner hunting ^.^
Managed to get enough tokens for 3 cubs while at work, got a double of the robe one but I was able to swap it for the one I missed no problem. Didn't miss any of the rats, so I'm all caught up! Time to hoard tokens <3

don't know if it's just me but i'm a little disappointed with how indistinct these tokens are. even with the easter eggs, they can at least vary in color/size/name. my fav tokens to collect are always the halloween candies! but these letters are so plain... i almost wonder if they're gonna change into something else mid-event? is there a precedent for something like that happening?
