It's a trading unit used for high value trades around the site. It stands for "Mid Advent" which is a vestige of the old high value pets list (MA pets used to be in the middle of the Advents List, back then). If you want to understand how it measures up against other trading "units" that are commonly used in the site, search (ctl+f) "High Value Pets" in the opening post of this thread c:

I'm reeeeeally hoping that the "2:1 rule" won't become the "official" guideline. Even though it won the poll, it still accounted for less than half of responses. It just...doesn't make sense, and even a lot of people who use it will admit that it doesn't work well with gaps of more than a couple years. I know a lot of people do still trade like that, but I hope that it will be listed as one popular option and not THE way to trade between rarities.

I feel like the 2:1 rule (rarity only! Not dates) didn't make any sense before, but with the latest rarity update makes MUCH more sense at least to me personally. The one people use a lot where its like, a lower rarity plus one of an even lower rarity just gets confusing for me, its too much math and making sure you happen to have just the right number of various rarity pets on their wishlist for it to work. That's just me though, I'm curious what other people think and what has worked for others
Agreed about the “2:1 rule” for rarities. I used to be okay with it for lower rarities, but there was no way I was trading a rare for 2 uncommons. I usually asked (and offered) 3-5 uncommons, depending on the pets involved. Since the rarity change, I use the 2:1 rule across the board when trading between rarities (OMGSR and list pets aside).

"Non" (alongside with "MA") refers to a shortened version of value that the pet has. A pet worth a non is also worth 10 MAs and 100 old rares, you can see more of that
here.
A better example would be an item irl worth $100. We don't say it's worth 100 one dollar bills or 10,000 cents, we say 100 dollars, even though it technically is worth those other two things. It's just a shorter way of saying that it's worth a lot. In this example, $100 would be a non, $1 bills would be MAs and cents would be old rares.
The technically meaning came from something called the rares list, it's a list similar to Horror's but was retired for many reasons. The "non dogs" (the Non-tag, Non-swirl, Non-jewel and Non-tail) were a reference of worth and has carried over to Horror's list so it's easier to follow, but it's original meaning has been lost.
