tempestuous and prickly, you can garn
er from his trademark smirk that dio t
ends to be self-righteous and arrogant,
though his confidence isn't exactly mis
placed. he knows what he's good at an
d he's not afraid to flaunt it. despite t
hat, he is always striving to do better,
and he believes that stagnation leads
to laziness. to that end, he spends a l
ot of time training both himself and h
is pokémon. he tends to take things to
o seriously and generally misses the jo
ke, and the easiest way to strike a ner
ve is by comparing him to his older br
other; he's gone to great lengths to av
oid such correlations and he can get v
ery snippy when treated as just "that
gym leader's younger brother". he has
a hard time expressing his emotions a
nd tends to get flustered by complim
ents, since he's not used to his effort
s being acknowledged by others.

goal: to gain prestige as a trainer and prove he's better than step out of the shadow of his older brother.
appearance: like his older brother, dio has a slim build, pale complexion, and off-white, pale blue hair framing an arguably appealing visage. his hair is straight and styled with light aquamarine balayage highlights, and he has lavender-colored eyes. he's a bit shorter than average, but he more than makes up for it with his sharp tongue.
history: the younger brother of the water-type gym leader, svein, dio often felt overshadowed by his more accomplished brother growing up. needless to say dio's been chomping at the bit to prove he can be a great trainer in his own right.

his main partner is his scizor (ability: technician; item: scizorite). the rest of his team is composed of porygon-z (ability: download; item: choice specs), gengar (ability: levitate; item: life orb), kingdra (ability: sniper; item: scope lens), talonflame (ability: gale wings; item: sharp beak), and alolan raichu (ability: surge surfer; item: terrain extender). his main strategy is an all-out offensive, which matches up with his team solely consisting of sweepers.

the definition of ‘you can look, but
don’t touch’; svein seems polite &
gentlemanly, but these are mere
formalities. he keeps others at a
distance with his detached dem-
-eanor, causing some to call him
‘ice prince’ (a nickname he abhors
- at least get his typing right!).
rather, he puts most of his atten-
-tion to his work, which he approaches
with the same meticulousness
and focus that he applies to battling.
calm and level-headed, svein is
the type who never gets riled up,
and he accepts his wins and losses
with grace and poise. his true
dedication is to his research
on water-based ecosystems, rather
than competitive battling.

goal: to increase the prestige of the saltrush city gym, and become a master of water-type pokémon. not many people know this, but he also secretly wishes to leave volokia and travel to galar, where he can work with and study wild cursola personally.
appearance: svein has viridian green eyes with long cat-like eyelashes (that he very carefully and meticulously maintains, mind you), and short off-white, very light blue hair with longer side bangs that frame his face. although his slim figure and average height don’t do much for him, svein’s charming face, accompanied by his elegant but stern countenance, demands attention.

his full team consists of his politoed (ability: drizzle | item: damp rock), toxapex (ability: regenerator | item: leftovers), lanturn (ability: volt absorb | item: choice specs), ludicolo (ability: rain dish | item: weakness policy), kabutops (ability: swift swim | item: life orb), and his main partner, gyarados (ability: intimidate | item: gyaradosite), the latter of whom he can mega evolve. in most gym battles, he uses his politoed, kabutops, and gyarados, saving his full team for only certain occasions. needless to say, his strategy consists of washing his opponents away with a powerful deluge of rain, hurricane, and thunder.
