Plumeria made a name for herself as
being a mean, cold-hearted person to those outside of
team skull when, in reality, she is the warm, big sister type
of person. She has a close relationship with her boss Guzma, but part
of that is a driven need to continue to prove herself to him. Plumeria
was the first member to join Team Skull. Guzma saw a girl struggling
to keep afloat due to the pressure put upon her due to her family's
status and the desire just to be herself. It started as a
simple way to get her pent-up aggression out by battling
but soon turned into a close friendship. Plumeria became
a rock of sorts for Guzma when he started to go
overboard with his grand plans. An unspoken
agreement that she would follow him. Which
is how she has found herself in Rainbow Rocket

Charlie originally joined Team Magma when
she was hired to help build the super secret weapon. At the
beginning, she didn't realize what her coding was building but when
she did. Charlie almost quit. When she went to Maxie (which took
her many pep talks before doing so) to ask him about his plan.
Without looking up his paperwork, he told her everything.
Charlie was horrified. Maxie, not wanting to lose one of the
best in his team, told her to take some time off to decide
where she stood. Charlie took him up on the time off and
traveled the Honnen region. It was a
drowning experience that brought her back to the Magma.
It's impressive what fear can make a person do. While she
disagrees with getting rid of most water since it
would destroy a lot of habits for Pokemon, her fear overruled
her. When Maxie joined Rainbow Rocket, he requested that she
come with him. He bribed her with the possibility of new
experiments she would be able to do.
