Prompt: A quiet surrounded the forest. It was a peaceful day, one that Jett was taking the time to enjoy, basking in the sunlight and watching the light glint off the series of gems laid before her. She was a hoarder of sorts, collecting anything that twinkled in the slightest appealing way. She was lost in thought, idly shifting the gems before a commotion nearby caught her attention. She rose to her paws, glancing around. Then, it stopped. When the silence returned, she shrugged, packing up her gems before moving further into the forest.
She traveled alone, collecting whatever she wanted. She had always been nomadic, never staying in the same place for long, for she loved to change her surroundings and gather new things in new environments. However, she had grown rather attached to the forest, and so far, remained undetected by those of the Heart of Decay. As she walked, she heard the commotion pick up again. This time, she heard a distinct yelp in a clearing next to her. It was one that sounded youthful, and in need of aid. She took in a sharp breath, hesitating before making her way into the clearing.
Before her lay Moon, an apprentice sized seal point with stunning pink eyes. She immediately caught the attention of Jett, as she lay on the ground, blood dripping from a few scratches across her nose. Then, Jett shifted her focus to a much larger molly leering over her, one as black as night with an intimidating aura about her.
Jett had always cared for the young. Protective, almost like a mother. And seeing a young cat laying on the ground, seemingly defenseless struck something deep in her core.
"What are you DOING!?" Jett spat, putting herself between Moon and the large ebony molly before her.
"We are-" Before the molly could finish her sentence, she felt a strike across her cheek, one with immense force behind it that sent her slightly stumbling to the right. The molly looked back at Jett, whose ears were pinned back, shocked by her adrenaline-filled strike.
"How dare you! She's not even half your size!" Jett yipped before turning towards Moon, moving towards her to help her to her paws.
"No, that's quite alright." Moon huffed out before raising to her paws herself. "We're training."
"You're... what?" Jett turned back towards the molly behind her, who chuckled softly.
"I suppose I can see how that would look bad to an outsider. Envy, leader of the Heart of Decay." The molly introduced herself. "I'm training Moon. And she is not nearly as young as she looks, probably older than you. Just not very large." Envy explained, the tips of Jett's ears heating up in embarrassment.
"I am.. very sorry." Jett mumbled, stepping back.
"That's quite alright, dear. Your protective nature is better than complacency in this scenario." Envy said with a sigh. "Though that hit definitely had some force behind it. I wouldn't mind having you among us."
