Sunnydaze - male - 43 moons - warrior - apprentice: Webpaw - tagged: Whisperhop, Webpaw, patrol, open
The flash of grey and white fur in the corner of his eye shouldn’t have startled most cats but Sunnydaze jumped slightly, blinking owlishly at the newcomer as he forced his fur to lay flat. Whisperhop could be a very strong, opinionated cat but she’d always been kind to him and pretty too. That though, was a thought further towards the back of the cream tabby’s mind, not one he was truly aware enough to acknowledge. Realizing he’d been staring at her a moment too long though, Sunnydaze broke eye contact, shuffling his paws awkwardly as he moved to make room for her. “Oh! Yes, please do!” The tom said quickly, glancing around the clearing with a touch of nervousness. Conversations, while not his strong suit, were Dawnglow’s and he found that they were much easier with her around. Sunnydaze never knew what to say and Dawnglow rarely appeared to have that problem. Mind hunting for a topic, Sunnydaze’s wandering eyes paused on Ghostgaze preparing to send out the day’s patrols. “You were up early,” he blurted, "Did Ghostgaze send you out so early in the morning?" The cream and white tabby paused, trailing off as Ghostgaze began announcing patrols. Hunting patrol with the deputy? Sunnydaze nodded to himself, glancing at the grey and white molly beside him. That wasn't too bad, at least Ghostgaze hadn't put him in a position to embarrass himself in front of his father, Falconscar. Whisperhop was in his patrol too and as Sunnydaze quickly scanned the crowd for his apprentice, he glanced at Whisperhop again. "Ghostgaze's got us with a big hunting patrol," Sunnydaze offered, hoping he wasn't overstepping, "If the patrol tries to crowd you too much, we can stay towards the back of the patrol. I want to watch Webpaw anyways, see how well his hunting's coming along." A quick moment of nervousness had him adding, "But we don't have to stay in the back if you don't want to either! I can keep an eye on Webpaw's hunting from anywhere in the patrol." As Webpaw approached, Sunnydaze mewed a quick greeting, relaxing a little with his apprentice's presence. Webpaw was a wonderful apprentice, quick to learn and eager to help the clan and Sunnydaze felt he was lucky to have an apprentice who was as dedicated as Webpaw was. Sunnydaze thought over Webpaw's request for a moment and then nodded. Today’s patrol would be a good opportunity to work on Webpaw’s hunting and then if his apprentice didn't seem to be struggling with his hunting skills, perhaps that afternoon, they could work on the younger cat’s swimming or battle skills. It would not be too long of a training session though, as dedicated as Webpaw was, the apprentice had a streak of perfectionism that Sunnydaze often felt as if he had to keep an eye on him to prevent Webpaw from overwhelming himself.
Cedarwhisker - male - 37 moons - warrior - tagged: Creamflower, open
“Lovely morning today isn’t it?” Cedarwhisker asked, settling himself comfortably next to the color point queen to eat his quick meal. “Did you sleep well? No snoring warriors in the nursery to keep you and Brightmoon awake?” He joked lightly, falling quiet a moment as he listened to Ghostgaze’s call. The silver tabby finished off the mouse in a couple more bites and sat up, attention focused on the deputy as he listed off the patrols. With a small flick of his tail, Cedarwhisker sighed, somewhat disappointed to not have been assigned a patrol but maybe he could go out later with one of his clanmates. Cedarwhisker hummed for a moment, considering his options. Even without a patrol, there was still plenty to do and the warrior's gaze rested on Creamflower. "Do you and Brightmoon need anything?"
Dovespeckle - female - 20 moons - warrior - tagged: Palethroat, Patrol
Dovespeckle's eyes danced with amusement as she relaxed, her "hunt" for Palethroat's tail easily given up in favor of greeting her friend. The molly's whiskers twitched, Palethroat seemed as if he'd had quite an enjoyable dream. Dovespeckle's dream had been just as nice but before she could tell him about it, Palethroat's hunting competition had her full focus. The young molly did not usually have a competitive streak but when she had cats to impress, she did. With a small grin, her gaze flitted across the camp, resting on Cedarwhisker, Wavechaser, and finally Slategaze, a flicker of admiration coursing through her fur when she'd realized he'd spent his morning hunting for the clan. A way to show Cedarwhisker, ever so protective even when she didn't need it, that she could handle herself. Wavechaser was practically a sibling to her as well, with how close he was with Cedarwhisker and the fact that he'd been her mentor. Dovespeckle's skills were a reflection of his training and she wanted both of the toms to be impressed. Dovespeckle's hunting skills were not bad, but it was her skill in the water that really shone. As an apprentice, Wavechaser had noticed her talent for fishing and swimming and had helped develop that further. With any luck, Dovespeckle would be able to put her skills into use. Palethroat was a good hunter and more experienced than Dovespeckle was but if Dovespeckle was able to fish, she thought she'd have a bit of an edge in the competition. "We'll see about that, I'm not going to make it easy for you," Dovespeckle replied, murmuring a good luck to the tom and a quick hello to Dawnglow as the mollies passed each other, Dovespeckle trotting eagerly towards her patrol members were gathering. Her brother and Wavechaser weren’t the only ones she wanted to show off for though. The handsome grey tom, Slategaze, who always seemed to have an air of grumpiness and mystery that produced an intensely curiosity about the tom as well as Dovespeckle's odd desire to be around the tom, if only to see how Slategaze reacted to her silly antics as well as when she was actively working to earn her clanmate's praise. This morning, Slategaze had been assigned to a border patrol but that hopefully, that would just help Dovespeckle focus harder on working to bring back the best catch of the day. The lilac warrior’s greeting to her patrol was cheerful but distracted as she thought about the day’s patrol, “Good morning Sardinepelt, today looks like it’ll be a good day for fishing and hunting.”
Wrenpaw - female - 8 moons - medicine apprentice - tagged: open
Pelt still somewhat damp from her early morning swim, the dilute calico molly hesitated in the camp's entrance, ears flattening against her head as she eyed her clanmates who were already awake. She'd had trouble sleeping last night, waking at the littlest of noises. Wrenpaw was usually a light sleeper but last night had been particularly difficult. Eventually, she'd given up and while the night sky was still dark, she'd slipped undetected out of the camp. By the time she'd reached the ocean shore, the sky was barely beginning to lighten and Wrenpaw had been able to walk around the edges, being careful not to go past her belly. Although Wrenpaw had already been taught to swim, she was careful, knowing the ocean could be dangerous. As it was, Wrenpaw had managed to become distracted, fascinated by a tiny blue crab. She'd lost track of time, completely invested in watching the crab attempt to hunt and she'd been watching with such rapt delight, she hadn't noticed a larger wave before it doused her in salt water. By the time she'd gotten back to camp, the sunlight was shining with morning light. Morningfrost was likely to have noticed her absence by now and would probably be upset. Apprentices weren't often able to go out of camp alone. Nervously, the medicine apprentice padded towards the medicine den, refusing to make eye contact with any of her clanmates in an attempt to avoid questioning and fluffing her damp fur out in an effort to make her adventure less obvious. Before she'd returned to camp, the tortoiseshell had attempted to clean herself but Wrenpaw's fur was still somewhat damp and she hoped it wouldn't have been too noticeable. Ghostgaze and several other warriors and apprentices were already awake but with luck, maybe Wrenpaw would be able to get away with her little adventure.
