BONUS POST! I threatened a couple months ago to go through the thread and tally up the store pets that we've seen, and yesterday I had a serious case of wanting to avoid adulting so I did just that! So, here's some fun facts:
- I speculated either corgis or manticores were the most common to find, and I was right--but they weren't the only ones in such high numbers! Since we began recording specifics there have been 100 corgis, 103 Earth Day deer, and 108 manticores! Of those, the red corgi was the most common, having shown up 33 times. The least frequently seen of them was the blue manticore, with "only" 14 of them.
- If somehow you'd hacked the pound so that you always got a store pet from it, you could have complete 2014 and 2017 sets! You'd have to litterswap to complete 2012, 2015, and 2016.
- There were 279 store pets from 2015 available, with 2017 coming up in second place with 247. The quantity trends sharply down after 2017 and then slowly decreases as we get closer to current, though 2020 is an outlier in a very visible way courtesy of the poinsettia fennecs: at 75, they were over half the 2020 store pets!
- Some of the most evenly distributed sets were the dinos, Earth Day deer, fairy fennecs, and fluffy PPS pups with fur embeds. But most sets had at least one pet with way more or way fewer than the others.
Disclaimer: these stats are based only on store pets recorded in this thread. It is not a comprehensive analysis of all pound openings as some were not recorded, and is not indicative of what is currently in the pound, nor is it indicative of the total number of store pets on the site.
