The loving and loyal but too quiet or too talkative gray male sighed. The darker marked one shook out his black mane. His black tail flicked, then purple eyes glanced to his father after a moment. He saw the other stallion looking at him, so he offered a smile.

The darker legged and marked female, also with red markings, watched her employees. A silver bay pony, a Unicorn, another pony, and a Pegasus. Rune Stone and Roan were at the counter thing. Water Splash checked the dresses with Jade eyes. The purple maned and tailed one smiled as she watched. She then turned purple eyes to the back, heading back there as she was making a new dress. She needed to get back to work.

Distant Star took a startled step back when she realized she'd been caught. Though... it wasn't as if she were being super sneaky, was she? She could if she wanted to! Definitely. But she hadn't been trying. The mare didn't seem upset though, and she recovered quickly to move closer to her. "That's a lot of books," she said quietly, this was a library after all and her dad had emphasized the importance of being quiet there ever since their first visit, "what are you reading?"

Star Seeker had just pulled a book off a shelf, expression thoughtful as he considered it, when his ear flicked slightly at the sound of his daughter's voice. It didn't take much searching to find her but Dista didn't seem to be causing any trouble -- and the mare she was talking to didn't seem too bothered. So Star stayed where he was, flipping through the cook book.

Jewels scooted over and motioned for the filly to join her at her table. "Well," She started, flipping to a page showing diagrams for different gems, "I'm researching different gems and jewels. Besides just looking different, they have different origins and compositions. Even more so, they historically have different meanings when worn or gifted. I like to know the history behind gems when I decided what jewelry to make."

She could feel like she was starting to ramble on about a lot that this filly might not even care much about. She glanced over at her, "What are you looking to read about today?" She asked, a bit interested to hear.

"Well, if you'd enjoy some tea as well, we have blackberry scones that go very well with the black tea. If you're a bit more hungry, we have some great salads or cucumber sandwiches." He suggested, a bit of pride for his food showing through his smile. When he had first opened his cafe, he only had a simple menu. However, he worked hard to practice his cooking and baking skills in order to attract more customers.

No one seemed quite interested yet, so she just kept coming here by herself.

"Oooh..." Distant Star's eyes widened slightly, joining the mare at the table to peer at the gemstones on the pages of the book. "That's so cool!" She caught her volume at the last second, just before it could creep up too loud and disturb others. She very lightly tapped her front hooves on the edge of the table in her excitement. "I didn't know there was so much to know about them." Maybe she should branch out even more from her star books and the stories? She bet she could find not-boring-adult books about lots of other things if she didn't let her eyes just glaze over when she looked. "Oh! Um.." She looked slightly startled at the question. "I read about stars mostly! And also some other stories. Dunno what I'm gonna borrow this time though."

"My dad's looking at cook books," she added almost as an afterthought, her voice low like it was a secret. Not a very well kept one though, as Star Seeker -- having moved nearby with a few books of his own -- flicked his ear in a silent acknowledgement of her comment.

Emerald looked towards the stallion who looked to be the filly's father, giving a bit of a smile, "I don't know if your dad looks like the cooking type," She whispered back, mostly speaking without thinking first. "Uh, well, nevermind that!" Em added, feeling embarrassed by her own odd comment. "You like stars, huh? I've always thought constellations were very interesting, with the mythology that goes with them. I just haven't found the time to read up on them, I suppose."

Breeze went to grab a menu from another table, bringing it to Willow's attention. There were many varieties of teas and coffee blends, all very specific and intricate drinks. "Well, I've got just about anything you could think of. Might I suggest a Honey Lemon Tea? It's one of my favorites." He offered. He went over to the counter and started the stovetop to heat up the kettle he had out and ready. Just mentioning the lemon tea made him crave some.

There was a soft snort, little more than an amused puff of air, from across the table at the mare's comment. She wasn't, after all, wrong. Star Seeker had begun to cook for Dista's sake only -- before her he'd been more likely to forget to eat altogether than cook anything. He'd really had to step up on that front and it had not been easy at first.

Dista giggled quietly, before seamlessly moving onto the new topic entirely unphased. "Dad's cutie mark is a constellation! It's the swan, Cygnus!" She tapped the points of the constellation out lightly on the table from memory -- her father's flank wasn't visible to either of them. "And it's my uncle's name. He calls it a 'really funny co-in-ci-dence' -" she said the word slowly to make sure she got it right, "- and my mom's name was a constellation too -- Aquila." Again she tapped the constellation on the table. "So I've always been interested in stars!"
